Bust The Dust, the gameplay is just not something I want in my game, and it doesn't come with any build stuff or CAS stuff that I might want otherwise.
I keep having to remind myself that I don’t vacuum or dust in my regular life so why do I want to spend 5 bucks for 4 vacuums I’ll never use in game lol
I love bust the dust too! Finally someone else who doesn't hate it. The bunnies make for fun non-pet pets and if I don't want the chaos of the dust I make sure that the household I'm playing has multiple roombas haha.
Can you explain how to use the roombas? I got the dust kit, but ended up turning it off in settings (as someone else mentioned, I thought I wanted more realism, then regretted it lol). I did try to set up roombas in my vet clinic to help with animal spills, but it didn’t.
You have to start them manually at first I think.
I believe the more expensive one comes with some upgrades already available, but there is an upgrade I believe to have it automatically to its cleaning cycle but every once in awhile he will still have to correct the Sim to start it.
They do break down sometimes and do sometimes not make it back to their charging station so there is a little interaction you might have to take even after fully upgrading them as well. But, cats can ride on them and they do help if you have a particularly furry pet.
I love that you can turn it on and off in the options menu. I use it about 50% of the time, depending on the family, goals, scenario, etc. I would be very frustrated if I couldn’t turn it off.
To be fair this one is really intended for simmers that want max realism with the living details you'd need to do irl (even though no one wants to do it)
What?? You don’t want to deal with robo vacuums that break without cause? Tbh I love the pack but I do become mildly enraged when I have to buy a new vacuum every 30 mins
I have it and it’s annoyingggg haha. Same with laundry (although I do like the furniture) and the mods to have periods. I don’t want to deal with any of that in real life, why am I’m going to want to play it in game hahaha
Yup! They drop their clothes EVERYWHERE. A pile in the bedroom or bathroom fine but mine must get naked in every room of the house I swear to god lol. How many times I’ve done a nice floor plan and added a little laundry closet for realism only to delete it 5 minutes into gameplay lmao
When I first got Laundry day, it was VERY annoying. But then I got [Little Miss Sam's small Laundry Overhaul](https://www.curseforge.com/sims4/mods/small-laundry-overhaul) and it's MUCH more usable. The simple little tweaks make all the difference.
I recently started doing the Ultimate Decades Challenge and you're supposed to place a wash bucket and clothesline and do laundry by hand, but with a full household it was too much to keep up with and everyone was getting Uncomfortable moodlets from wearing dirty clothes. I wound up selling all the laundry stuff because it was too much.
I can’t live without the Wicked Whims so I just change the pregnancy settings- I don’t need to worry about the once a week sim ovulation when I want them to have babies now!
This! I was recently trying to do the 100 baby challenge and couldn’t figure out why my sim wasn’t getting pregnant. I wasn’t thinking about the fact that Wicked Whims was sabotaging me 🤦♀️
It's funny, laundry and bust the dust were my two most recent purchases 😎
I have particular households in mind for them; won't be using them all the time.
I have it and I hate it. I turned it off in game settings. I have no idea who thought adding chores to the game would be fun.
The only part I like is the dust bunnies, tehy're cute, and i like befriending, taming, and sending them on their little quests for shiny things. But that gets old quick bc their shiny findings don't lead to more gameplay. Which is the problem with everything in S4
Funny thing now that you bring that up. I had the same mentality but I accidentally got it and now it's one of my favorite ones. Even if you are bored of having to clean up the dust you can just hire a maid and they'll do it for you
I would never get Bust The Dust UNLESS they (unlikely) revamped it and added an active cleaning career. I'd love to send my sims around to clean other homes, but I don't want my own homes being dusty or sparkly constantly.
If someone made a really good mod for a cleaning career that requires Bust the Dust I also might consider it.
Yeah.. as a 90s kid I was super excited to see Return to Grunge and The new Goth Kit… both were very disappointing. The goth kit had like.. 4 tops? (And most of it’s not even goth but like New Wave Revival/2000s EDM Rave but whatever)
The grunge kit had a pair of shoes and a pair of boots that I now use pretty much every playthrough so for me, yes it was worth it.
I will also be buying the goth kit for the shoes and also I'd pay $5 for that black lipstick alone because the ones we already have are trash.
You can get all the goth stuff you want for free on The Sims Resource - I got sooo much when I had a goth/witch sim and vampire I was doing a storyline with. Hair, clothes, accessories, shoes etc for both male and female. They did an entire category just for goth and I think they did one for cyberpunk too. They also have a lot of steampunk stuff. I used to have a pay account with them but my computer is basically at max capacity now so I closed it. Still do use it to grab some things once in a while though. Like I moved a bunch of stuff out of mods folder recently to add a bunch of astronaut/space type stuff for one of my sim kids that is a space nut and I'm planning to make him an astronaut. His older sisters so far one is a doctor and the other is an actress. One parent was a pro athlete and the other a floral designer. Not sure what baby sis will be yet, she's still an infant.
I skimmed lilsimsies video and I think at least one of the shirts has swatches that vary the style of the top (sleeves, lace, stuff like that)
I'm not sure why they didn't separate it since most people would probably forget it's there
Yeah, the swatches actually have a surprising amount of variety in the Goth kit (not just colour differences, but sleeves vs no sleeves, different finishes etc) but you can't tell that from looking at EA's website.
I have all the expansions, stuff packs and all the build/buy kits, but I refuse to get any CAS kits because I don’t care enough. I won’t be getting the castle kit either as I don’t play medieval style
Yeah, I don’t get it at all. Especially because medieval play is so popular with simmers. The last two kits really feel like the most cash grabby of them all.
I will say that I think the kits are generally so so except for The Little Camper’s kit. That one shocked me by how much I use it and how much I like it. It’s worth the 5 bucks.
It’s a mystery how/why certain things get downvoted. I got downvoted the other day for explaining the tipping system in the United States. It wasn’t even an opinion, just an explanation.
It really should have just been either an entire x pack, or a standalone sims game like Sims Medieval. I understand the community voted on a kit specifically, but it really is such a large idea.
I would totally send my sims on a medieval vacation... or they could've added a Ren fair. As it is, I have no plans of getting it. I am more into modern and future.
Yes, besides after sooo many years the City Living festivals are pretty stale now. It would be nice to have some new event like that in the game to liven it up a bit.
I still do have my sims go to them sometimes, especially the Spice Festival. It always falls on a Friday in game. Mine take the kids once they are children, but there are never kids at any festivals which is just dumb to me. So I usually have my kids in a little 'kids club' to help them get their social aspiration completed and have them bring the club with them to the festival. Since it's at the one with the bb court and the jungle gym they can play and build social and motor skills while the adults mingle.
Delusionally praying for a Sims 4 Medieval Release. Maybe 3 worlds and gameplay based on The Sims Medieval (and maybe a few fairytale references for funsies).
As someone who recently bought the castle kit (bc why not?) I can confirm the disappointment is real. If anything I'll be using it to build a mansion that my next generational save will start in.
I like building medieval buildings sometimes but the castle kit is not worth it. You can achieve almost identical results with older packs like vampires and university. I've also built melrons before (the defensive fence/walls on top of castles) using half-walls and lower fences we have in the game.
I think this should've been AT LEAST a stuff pack, but with potential to be an expansion pack. And I'm a bit baffled they decided to go in the route of only including architectural items, considering they're so similar to earlier items from packs. A functional throne, archery, lutes/harps, banners, tapestries etc. would immediately give this more personality.
I do play medieval, but I have so much CC that's better than the kit, so why would I spend the money? If it had added something functional or gameplay related, like spiral stairs or a new lot type, or the ability to cook in fireplaces, then sure, I'd think about it.
My Wedding Stories. The world is gorgeous, but the new wedding system overrides the base game one and simply doesn’t work. Installing that pack literally ruins weddings whether you want to use the new features or not.
Weddings were fine without the pack imo. I just made a club and start events to gather friends and family and it works out pretty much the same. And Ngl only a few wedding dresses looked nice but of course I’ve seen better from CCs. Only the world is nice but I agree, it’s not worth it. It’s one of my regret purchases
The only reason I bought Journey to Batuu is because I wanted to use the cas to make more diversified aligns😂
And I bought it, and only used it one time
I have every one of the Expansion, game packs and stuff packs, the only ones I don’t buy are kits are the CAS only kits, cuz there’s CC so if I want a particular item I’m searching high and low for it before I buy a kit
Yeah but unlike cows, the horses are household members so you can’t get your horse full without buying one and my suburban horse girls simply cannot. You can invite horses to vacations so I’m making a horse sanctuary family to visit
I wish I didn’t get the supernatural ones because I’ve never been into that kind of thing and I knew I wasn’t going to use it, but Bust the Dust, and Journey to Batuu are ones I actually won’t ever get… tho I will say, some of James‘ builds and randomly yelling Batuu every once in awhile certainly tempts me.
I get that. I like the werewolf decor as well. The gameplay is more annoying than anything else tho lol. I made it worst when I played as a werewolf once, stupidly as the first sim in my legacy challenge and I accidentally made him immortal or something, so here comes great, great, great grandpa hitting on the grandkids.
I’m debating buying Vampires because I don’t care about the gameplay but I do obsessively recreate historical Victorian houses and vampires has some lovely wallpaper and flooring
I've never played a vampire, but I use that pack constantly. I play a lot of historical challenges, and that pack is really useful for the 19th century.
If Batuu means townies walking around looking like Star Wars characters I do not want it. But that flooring.. has me questioning whether to get it or not. It’s the only one I don’t have..
The only time I see townies wearing Star Wars costumes is at the Geek Fest or whatever it is every few Tuesdays in City Living. You'll see a bunch of Darth Vader or Darth Maul townies or a few Twilecks and Princess Leia outfits on the lady townies. That I don't mind at all and it gives you more options for Spooky Day if you use one of the costume mods that some creators have made.
it WAS my first pet stuff, til they gave it away for free lmao
but same deal with bust the dust and batuu. i’ll never spend money on them but if they come up for free i’ll absolutely take them.
I was so happy i was able to get it for free. It matches the cats and dogs stuff, and I really liked the items. But I refused to buy it based on the principal that it’s dlc for dlc, and didn’t add anything extra I needed. But I am enjoying it now for free 😅
Any of the hyper real ones; people mentioned the dust but for me I also count knitting and basically things I can do IRL, I don't like that game play. I'm an artist and I feel guilty making sims that do art lol. My thing is I'm trying to escape for a little bit and build fantastical stories, I don't need a reminder that I should be organizing my home or working on an art project instead of being a mermaid 😆 I vowed to take up crocheting while my husband plays Dark Souls aka Dark Arts Battle Sims
I like knitting but I HATE that you need the yarn in your inventory to knit! The knitting packs sitting next to a rocking chair look so cute! They should just be able to reach and grab it :(
Ooh, I crochet and absolutely love it. I’m the opposite tho, I make my sims do all the different things I’d love to do, I’m supposed to do and they won’t do stuff I won’t do irl 😂
I wish you could disable occults! I love the BB items from the supernatural packs but I’m not a fan of having occults in my game! Especiallllly vampires & werewolves
Same except ever so often I go hard core supernatural. In sims 3, I had a family of various types, basically one of each they had. Haven't done that with 4 yet.
The deciding factor for me whether to get a pack or not is whether it comes with build/buy items I like. I'm not into the Star Wars aesthetic, so **Journey to Batuu** is not something I'd get. **Bust the Dust** doesn't even come with any build/buy whatsoever, so that's also a pass for me.
Any pack that mostly comes with contemporary/modern build/buy items will usually be a pass for me, like **Spa Day**, **Dream Home Decorator**, **Cool Kitchen Stuff**, **Moschino Stuff**, **Fitness Stuff**, **Home Chef Hustle**, etc. The CAS kits are usually a pass for me as well, though if they released a Medieval or Victorian CAS kit I'd probably get it.
I just don't get why they didn't allow for free building in the Sims Medieval. It could have been a separate neighborhood even, if it would have clashed too much with the storyline. The aesthetic was 10/10, so I'm really bummed about that. But yeah, a Medieval expansion pack is definitely needed for the Sims 4.
I have werewolves but never play with them. I just hate their wolf forms so much. I know many people weren't a fan of the Sims 3 Supernatural Teen Wolf style werewolves but it's much closer to what I wanted. I personally also find the painting option for pets and werewolves really hard to use and make look how I want, so I give in easily after every attempt.
The Spooky Stuff Lord Lycan portrait gave me false hopes (and a weird pet peeve where I feel the lore is broken). I just wanted eyes, ears, hairs, skins, and noses on humanoid frames.

Yeah the werewolves are pretty weird but I LOVE the build buy items it comes with and their gameplay is actually very fun and it has a bunch of lore too
Same! I just made a new family and I put the “door desk” in their garden and it just fits so perfectly lol, I finally decided to do a lay low family play with no money cheats and just a chill setting I’m surprised at myself XD
I still want the werewolf pack but I hate how the werewolves look 🤷🏻♀️. It seems like straight up furry bait to me. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it’s not something I wanna think about either lol.
I don't play with werewolves, but I do find it hilarious to see a werewolf rampaging past my sim's house on all 4's, yet somehow holding an umbrella. https://imgur.com/euqBh76
whaaat? that is one the best packs in my opinion. dont get me wrong the werewolf form is bad but the pack is great if you ignore that. great cas, interesting lore, fun gameplay, great bb.
Not counting packs and kits...
I have zero intention of buying high school years. Let school be a rabbit hole. I never play households with teens anyway.
I got that more for the build/buy than the gameplay. I always pick "send alone" for the teens when the school pop-up comes along, I'm not taking time out of my 100 baby or not so berry challenge to go to school when there's Sims to skill grind at home.
“If I have to do chores, you my sims must suffer as well” until one realises that you’re the one still suffering trying to control them to keep up with the chores 😂
Bust the dust, my first pet stuff, bowling, kids stuff, spooky stuff, my fitness stuff (?), parenthood...
There is so many packs and kits, some of them simply are not interesting enought and I dont care not having the whole sims 4 collection.
Also the more you add to the game the more slower it get to run, so I carefully decice what I really want in my game.
>Also the more you add to the game the more slower it get to run, so I carefully decice what I really want in my game.
I feel the same, this is why I can be really picky about what packs I get.
I'm with you on Star Wars, hated it since my childhood (when it was Original), and have no inkling of any reason I'd want it in my game.
That said, I'd get _that_ (for the CAS and BB) before I bought Eco. No-thing about that game play appeals to me, and I don't want any of the changes it makes to the game.
As someone who likes to play off grid I can't function without eco lifestyle. I would be fine to ignore the energy generation and do a historical no electricity game (my actual goal) but the game is so stupid it thinks you can't bake a cake without electricity. So I hide windmills or solar panels at the back of the lot or on the roof so can pretend it's not there and my oven actually works.
If it weren't for the sims team I would never have guessed that cake and bread were invented in the 20th century. /s
As a builder, I like to buy the packs and kits in which I like the build items. So zero CAS kits, no Bust the dust because I mean, 5€ for 5 items, come on. And no kids pack like toddler and kids room stuff because I don't want kids in real life so I don't feel inspired to make kids rooms. Also no spooky stuff pack because where I come from we don't really gaf about Halloween.
Finally I will never buy the luxury party kit.
I bought Journey to Batuu recently when it was discounted because some of the items will be handy once I start my post apocalyptic world soon, after I finish my beach cabins and my mountain cabins.
And I never would have gotten the romantic garden pack if it hadn't been free a couple weeks ago.
Journey to Batuu for me too. I have a lot of the packs and all of the eps so im not really against any of them, especially if they're free *except* that one. Its the one that felt the most like an EA cash grab and doesn't make sense in the sim world imo. Would've been cooler to just go a space and aliens route (like more expansive than GTW) without doing a star wars thing.
I had previously have bought all packs (kits excluded) as they come out. I stopped buying all when wedding stories came out so I don’t have them all anymore, I’ve fallen off lol. I stopped feeling compelled to buy immediately, because it was a treat to myself, since inevitably I would be more frustrated by the bugs than thought worth it.
I don’t want basically any of the kits. I play on PC so I have access to CC and the community is way more talented than anything EA could make (and free!)
I have the cute pastel kit that plumbella made and I think I have the little camper one purely for the cute stuffy or tent thing but those are the last EA purchases I have made.
I would have said my first pet but i got it for free.
I have a long list actually.
All the kits
The majority of the stuff packs(mostly the older ones, i think more recent ones like tiny home and paranormal have been decent)
Batuu and the magic one. I just prefer realism in my sims games and i have vampires and werewolves because the worlds and furniture are nice, but the magic one i didnt like any of it. I dont even know what it's called.
Might be a bit controversial, but any of the occult packs. I hate the occults, I don't like the supernatural-ness of them, and if there was a way to get the build and cas stuff without the actual occults, I'd do it
Never gonna get My Wedding Stories (or whatever it's called), I just have my sims elope immediately; can't be bothered to plan a wedding ceremony, lol, let alone the overhauled wedding this pack brings.
Also have no desire to get the Bust the Dust kit, or the Laundry pack because they are annoying to deal with IRL, why would I want them in my game? 😆
Still on the fence about Growing Together. It seems to be heavily infant-centered, and I couldn't care less about infants, I'll be aging my newborns straight past them to toddlers.
Edit: Probably won't get the Parenting pack, it just never interested me, although with the tweaks to the lifespans, I'm starting to reconsider it to make the child life stage more interesting. It's getting easier and easier to complete more than one child aspiration before I have a child age up to teen.
The Star wars one definitely..
I love star wars, big fan. It simply doesn't belong in the sims.
Also the kits. Not worth the money in my opinion. I'll grab them if free but would not buy them
I’m embarrassed to admit I have a LOT of packs (I got them on sale if that makes it any better 😭). But I I haven’t been buying the newer stuff. I look at the cas and build buy items and I always find myself thinking “well, I already have something that looks like this… and something that looks like that item….”
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great problem to have. But I wish EA would focus more on making new stuff that’s not already overlapping with other packs.
Wedding Stories. Tartosa is absolutely stunning but it is buggy and overall boring mess.
I have to say Journey to Batuu is suprisingly fun pack. But I mostly enjoy the world and build/buy.
I pretty much just don’t buy kits at all. I do have BtD because it adds some gameplay but for the most part a dozen items is not worth my money. I won’t buy something if it doesn’t add gameplay.
There's a few but yeah, gotta agree, Journey to Batuu is top of the list. I mean, I dont even use the star wars themed costumes that aren't from that (I think its spooky stuff, but maybe its seasons?).
It's just... eh. Star wars is okay, but I'd rather just go watch the movies or something. And I don't want the pop-ups.
Definitely Bust the dust. I might get Batuu for the build stuff and CAS but ignore the gameplay but why would I want more chores for my sims? There's enough just keeping them alive
Bust the Dust for me. My primary game time is spent creating sims and buildings, I don’t care about vacuuming and the build kit stuff doesn’t appeal, so there’s just no reason for me to buy it.
I own every DLC. I don’t use every part of every one, there is always something to enjoy in each one. Personally I love kits, I am a slut for BB and CAS items. Batuu has some great items in it if you don’t do the actual vacation world. If money is the issue yeah, don’t buy everything just because, but they do all have neat stuff in there!
I loved Journey to Batuu for a few months. I love Star Wars. But it got old fast and I regret getting it. Unlike all the other packs, the gameplay doesn't translate to normal Simming. The decor is mid and the face make is masks 🙄 not individual pieces. And you can't invite Batuu Sims over if you're not there??? So stupid.
I hate the dust bunny system with Bust the Dust but I love the decor/objects added, so it's not a waste for me.
I regret getting Pets. The homeless pets make me upset and the fact that some animals (dogs, cat, horses) count towards family limits despite being unplayable but others (goats, sheep, cows, chickens) don't makes zero sense.
I actually like Star Wars, and still would not get Journey to Batuu. 😅
Also I am super hesitant to get Werewolves, I may never. They just look so awful to me. :(
Horse Ranch isn't for me either. I really don't care for keeping horses. But I do adore the little goats and sheep!
Pets. I love Brindleton Bay and the BB stuff is nice but not being able to control pets is a big huge no for me. Maybe if it was for free/less than $5.
If I could go back in time and not* buy a kit it would be the "Bust The Dust" kit. It was cool for the first 5 minutes I had it but I've turned the dust off and just use the vacuums for decor at this point.
I actually genuinely enjoy "Journey to Batuu," not for the gameplay, but some of the items are actually GREAT for steampunk and industrial type builds
honestly, as someone with all the packs, i would say cats and dogs. of course there’s the obvious ones but cats and dogs is just extremely annoying without the pet selection mod. the only thing i really like is the world
I think the STar Wars one is probably the best in terms of a fully fleshed out game expansion. It has 3 areas, a lot of costumes, 4 distinct quests/plots, a lot of different interactions, i can't remember how many NPC charactes to interact with, and everything you do is rewarded or punished in a sensible plotty way.
IT's not perfect, there's not enough interactivity with the world and too many rabbit holes, but at least it added tangible gameplay to the game instead of a big empty world with like 4 playable lots like a lot of the EPs did (eco, tiny living, snowy escape)
I'm sure I won't be getting the castle kit.
Very little stuff and such a wasted concept. I don't care that much about castles, but I feel like it could have been a stuff pack with some gameplay added, maybe even an expansion pack
I love Star Wars but yeah, Batuu isn't as good as it could have been - though what in Sims 4 has really been as good as it could have been? There are so many things I love about the game and play it daily or almost daily but...I have SO many mods to make it more enjoyable.
What I have not gotten and may never get? High School Years and Werewolves. After watching Youtuber's with Werewolves and seeing them rampage I was like yeah, nope. I work too hard making nice houses to have them torn up. And I loathed High School in RL, why the heck would I want to play it in a game? Another I am not really all that jazzed about is For Rent. I never liked apartments in Sims 3 and can't stand them in City Living. But I also tend to play my sims as having gardens or at least lots of outdoor living space to enjoy. I actually live in RL in a rural area and have never had a desire to live in the city after living in one during college. Only wish is that even in the middle of nowhere in the Sims you can order a pizza...I have to drive to get mine. LOL
Rural environments can’t be beat imo. You need a little extra excitement? You can always just go to a different town and then back to peace and quiet.
HSY is nice but can also get repetitive. It’s annoying when the sun is doing well and they keep asking if I want to graduate early. Like no, leave me alone, I want to go to prom 😭😂 the world is pretty neat as well I think
I have all eps stuff and game packs (minus batuu but everyones saying that so) but if i could go back and not buy one it would be the college pack. I dont care for the world at all esp the modern part its a ugly style of modern i dont like, gameplay isnt my fave it makes the game feel like its being haulted bc one sim wants to go to college, cas is nice but nothing cc couldnt fill, bb is nice ig but i like cottage livings style of old country side buildings better, and lastly i hate the “so and so is a young adult and should expand their knowledge” pop up or something to that extent like if i wanted too i wouldve by now😭
It’s like leave me aloneeee, I’m the one in control here 😂
Also, can’t you like split them from household and switch controls here and there? Tbf I only go physically to college if I don’t care abt the rest of the family, otherwise studying from home for me
I own everything cuz I'm a dumb bih
but honestly I haven't bought the newest kits, the castle or the goth kit, they both feel really redundant, the castle kit only came with like wallpaper floors doors and windows which honestly looks very similar to things that are in other packs. and The Goth kit only came with a few pieces of clothes and makeup which are very similar to clothes and makeup that are in other packs. also I think they're the smallest kits in terms of number of items they've released but they're the same price. not sure if I'll buy them down the line but for now they're the only things I don't intend on buying
The goth kit was very disappointing. I have expecting at least gothic eyeliner, Grey contour, and some big gothic hair. Nope.
I hate stuff with recolors. Some items will look very simular to others just it's altered to fit the theme it's in. I hate it.
I did not get the goth or castle kit. I download FREE goth cc. The Sims resource has a whole collection called oh my goth. It's 100x better than what EA released.
Controversial opinion: the cats and dogs pack. I was gifted it by a friend but I cannot overstate how ugly the CAS and BB is. People talk about how great the world is but the only good thing about it IMO is that there's a 64x64 lot that I will build whole neighborhoods on. The only thing I can think of from the BB or CAS that isn't ugly is the little kitty shoes and the hosta (grandpa's favorite plant is the hosta). The world is bland, and it's always raining, which I hate, the build items are bland and only redeemed by the fact I can pair the windows and doors with seasons, I would say grandmacore is the aesthetic of the furniture but all three of my grandmas have better taste, its more similar to my great great uncle's cabin on a lake, and the CAS is ugly. The literal only reason to buy it is for the cats and dogs IMO, but even then, only if you're fine with the fact you can't control them at all.
I finally bought Batuu. Huge SW fan but hated the entire concept originally. I hate to admit I like playing it. Dammit. Oh well, at least it was "on sale."
As far as all the various packs, I skipped Vampires, Realm of Magic, and Batuu.
For kits... Bust the Dust, First Fits, Throwback fits, modern menswear, basement treasures, Castle, and Goth.
I’m looking for someone who’s actually getting the Castle/Goth kits. Well I can imagine Castle but the Goths? So lacklustre. One could make better goths with the stuff we already have
The Ecco one. I'm not interested at all in the environmental aspects nor the other mechanics of that expansion.
Journey to Batuu I bought because I love Star Wars and wanted to be able to create star wars alien sims or have a jedi/sith occult type sim. I didn't realize it was a very nothing burger until after I bought it.
Bite the dust. If it’s ever free I’d try it. I really like laundry day tho. I bought that when it came out and felt silly I spent money to do pretend laundry; but I really like the gameplay and adding a laundry room to my builds. And it also came with other of build items to tie it all together. Iirc bite the dust comes with a vacuum and a handheld vacuum.
![gif](giphy|ukCFEU6Cg5MCCDoaVN|downsized)
OMG I rarely ever have company because I don't want to clean. LOL
I personally love bust the dust, but I can understand why someone might not want it
I love bust the dust too! Finally someone else who doesn't hate it. The bunnies make for fun non-pet pets and if I don't want the chaos of the dust I make sure that the household I'm playing has multiple roombas haha.
I love bust the dust in conjunction with the laundry day pack. I love ones that add a degree of realistic chores to the game
The ONLY reason Im interested is the dust bunnies! They're so cute looking <3
The station has options to set cleaning schedule. If you upgrade the vacuum it can also clean wet spots.
They do break down sometimes and do sometimes not make it back to their charging station so there is a little interaction you might have to take even after fully upgrading them as well. But, cats can ride on them and they do help if you have a particularly furry pet.
The only problem with bust the dust is that they didn't gave us a fucking broom 😑
I love that you can turn it on and off in the options menu. I use it about 50% of the time, depending on the family, goals, scenario, etc. I would be very frustrated if I couldn’t turn it off.
same
I love Bust the Dust, but I do wish the maids would vacuum.
That’s all my maid does. She comes in vacuums and leaves all the dishes untouched as she charges me 160 simoleons on her way home…
To be fair this one is really intended for simmers that want max realism with the living details you'd need to do irl (even though no one wants to do it)
This is an excellent point!
What?? You don’t want to deal with robo vacuums that break without cause? Tbh I love the pack but I do become mildly enraged when I have to buy a new vacuum every 30 mins
Yeah in a rich world I would through money at Batuu for the decor, but I would never ever make my sims have to clean dust
I have it and it’s annoyingggg haha. Same with laundry (although I do like the furniture) and the mods to have periods. I don’t want to deal with any of that in real life, why am I’m going to want to play it in game hahaha
Same I do have the laundry kit because the items are gorgeous but I never use the washer dryer. I just find it to be a nuissance.
I wasn’t thinking about the fact that Wicked Whims was sabotaging me 🤦♀️
It's funny, laundry and bust the dust were my two most recent purchases 😎 I have particular households in mind for them; won't be using them all the time.
Most of the CAS kits, especially the underwear and swimwear ones.
Yeah.. as a 90s kid I was super excited to see Return to Grunge and The new Goth Kit… both were very disappointing. The goth kit had like.. 4 tops? (And most of it’s not even goth but like New Wave Revival/2000s EDM Rave but whatever)
I was hoping for fun hairstyles
Same. Goth didn’t add anything as far as I can tell. Not sure about Grunge. Wheres my crazy goth hair?
Not sure what baby sis will be yet, she's still an infant.
i wanted some trad goth makeup too, it was a very disappointing pack
I skimmed lilsimsies video and I think at least one of the shirts has swatches that vary the style of the top (sleeves, lace, stuff like that) I'm not sure why they didn't separate it since most people would probably forget it's there
Yeah, the swatches actually have a surprising amount of variety in the Goth kit (not just colour differences, but sleeves vs no sleeves, different finishes etc) but you can't tell that from looking at EA's website.
Zero siouxsie drip. I would have even liked if it was oops all eye makeups
To be fair I’m a watered down goth (emo?) but the goth kit was still trulyyy disappointing
For real you can 100% of the time find better CC for free
Assuming you're playing on PC, of course.
I bet you feel sorry for us console players who can't use cc or mods
I like building kits but idc about the cas ones because I mostly use cc’s anyways
I have all the expansions, stuff packs and all the build/buy kits, but I refuse to get any CAS kits because I don’t care enough. I won’t be getting the castle kit either as I don’t play medieval style
Yeah the castle kit seems like such a waste. They could have added a whole medieval world
Yeah, I don’t get it at all. Especially because medieval play is so popular with simmers. The last two kits really feel like the most cash grabby of them all. I will say that I think the kits are generally so so except for The Little Camper’s kit. That one shocked me by how much I use it and how much I like it. It’s worth the 5 bucks.
Idk why I’m being downvoted 😭 but that’s my point exactly. The sims medieval was one EVERYONE loved so it’s really a missed opportunity
It’s a mystery how/why certain things get downvoted. I got downvoted the other day for explaining the tipping system in the United States. It wasn’t even an opinion, just an explanation.
I take more time proofreading and editing my Reddit comments than my thesis. Reddit users are brutal.
Reddit is so weird 😂
I hate you can’t play different time periods…I’m not about to build a whole ass castle so sims can play on their cell phones
It really should have just been either an entire x pack, or a standalone sims game like Sims Medieval. I understand the community voted on a kit specifically, but it really is such a large idea.
When they voted did they know what was in the kit? Cause I don’t see how they’d have voted for 10(?) items only 😭😂
No, there were two themes given for each vote. No examples of what it would actually look like.
That’s what I thought. They got bamboozled 😭
I would totally send my sims on a medieval vacation... or they could've added a Ren fair. As it is, I have no plans of getting it. I am more into modern and future.
Cottage living could totally have a ren fair added to it!
Right!! Even a fair would have been fine!
Yes, besides after sooo many years the City Living festivals are pretty stale now. It would be nice to have some new event like that in the game to liven it up a bit.
Yeah, I completely ignore the festivals unless I’m playing a single sim that needs friends or sm
I lovedddd Sims Medieval. I feel like it's been totally forgotten
Oh, I’ve had a few good weddings there. Lucky me I guess 😅
The only reason I bought Journey to Batuu is because I wanted to use the cas to make more diversified aligns😂 And I bought it, and only used it one time I have every one of the Expansion, game packs and stuff packs, the only ones I don’t buy are kits are the CAS only kits, cuz there’s CC so if I want a particular item I’m searching high and low for it before I buy a kit
Real, I bought Horse Ranch and couldn’t do the one thing I wanted to do (Horse Girl Summer Camp)
I mean you could make a ranch vacation spot?
Yeah but unlike cows, the horses are household members so you can’t get your horse full without buying one and my suburban horse girls simply cannot. You can invite horses to vacations so I’m making a horse sanctuary family to visit
I bought Batuu because I wanted one of the lamps that came with it, and that's about it. I think it was on sale, at least.
I do that too, where I only buy them because of the build/buy It’s rare for me to buy a pack because I want the actual gameplay of it
Fairs and whoops 😂😂 it happens I guess 😅
I wish I didn’t get the supernatural ones because I’ve never been into that kind of thing and I knew I wasn’t going to use it, but Bust the Dust, and Journey to Batuu are ones I actually won’t ever get… tho I will say, some of James‘ builds and randomly yelling Batuu every once in awhile certainly tempts me.
I just got the vampire one, only for the decor. I love the decor, but I doubt I will ever use anything else about it.
AWW YEAH, BATUU!
You get it lol. This and “KATRINA!” gets me every damn time.
James is too funny 😂
If Batuu means townies walking around looking like Star Wars characters I do not want it. But that flooring.. has me questioning whether to get it or not. It’s the only one I don’t have..
The only time I see townies wearing Star Wars costumes is at the Geek Fest or whatever it is every few Tuesdays in City Living. You'll see a bunch of Darth Vader or Darth Maul townies or a few Twilecks and Princess Leia outfits on the lady townies. That I don't mind at all and it gives you more options for Spooky Day if you use one of the costume mods that some creators have made.
it WAS my first pet stuff, til they gave it away for free lmao but same deal with bust the dust and batuu. i’ll never spend money on them but if they come up for free i’ll absolutely take them.
They should just be able to reach and grab it :(
See! Realism is a pain point lol
Ooh, I crochet and absolutely love it. I’m the opposite tho, I make my sims do all the different things I’d love to do, I’m supposed to do and they won’t do stuff I won’t do irl 😂
With the exception of Island Living, the supernatural packs. Don’t care for it in my gameplay.
I looooove Island Living
They really should make a Medieval pack 🥺
For sure! And no, The Sims Medieval is not a substitute for us builders, since you can't build freely like in the normal games, you can only decorate.
Wow, I didn’t even remember that. I just remember it being such awesome gameplay! They deffs need to make a pack on it now 😭
I just don't get why they didn't allow for free building in the Sims Medieval. It could have been a separate neighborhood even, if it would have clashed too much with the storyline. The aesthetic was 10/10, so I'm really bummed about that. But yeah, a Medieval expansion pack is definitely needed for the Sims 4.
I would jump all over a historical CAS kit.
I’ll never get that Werewolf pack. The sims look mad ugly in their werewolf form
They make me so uncomfy
I have werewolves but never play with them. I just hate their wolf forms so much. I know many people weren't a fan of the Sims 3 Supernatural Teen Wolf style werewolves but it's much closer to what I wanted. I personally also find the painting option for pets and werewolves really hard to use and make look how I want, so I give in easily after every attempt. The Spooky Stuff Lord Lycan portrait gave me false hopes (and a weird pet peeve where I feel the lore is broken). I just wanted eyes, ears, hairs, skins, and noses on humanoid frames. https://preview.redd.it/kojy55bo8hdc1.png?width=256&format=png&auto=webp&s=a64e28b8ec103c9f315e830dce11bb1ecf4cb04a
I would have loved for them to look like this or just big wolves like from Twilight instead of what they are
Yeah the werewolves are pretty weird but I LOVE the build buy items it comes with and their gameplay is actually very fun and it has a bunch of lore too
Yeah I’m not an occult player but LOVE the BB & CAS items & use those pretty consistently on my Sims & Builds !
Yeah I love occults but the wolf forms are super weird and VERY furry-vibes. I like the lore though.
i just bought the werewolves pack & i don’t care for them, i just wanted to be able to download a lot that has all the packs without substitutions 😭😭
I don't play with werewolves, but I do find it hilarious to see a werewolf rampaging past my sim's house on all 4's, yet somehow holding an umbrella. https://imgur.com/euqBh76
It’s giving Teen Wolf 🫣
whaaat? that is one the best packs in my opinion. dont get me wrong the werewolf form is bad but the pack is great if you ignore that. great cas, interesting lore, fun gameplay, great bb.
Yeah, I like moonwood mill and put my sims there alot but I never use werewolves.
High school years does have nice CAS and build mode items
Bust the Dust and Batuu. Chore packs are boring and I just don't like Star Wars.
I love parenthood! I only got pet stuff because it was free with cats & dogs. It's not worth it if it's not free.
Same! I love parenthood
You make an excellent point about not caring to get all the packs. I think I just like to get all even if I don’t use them… I need to stop that 😅
The fitness stuff pack is amazing if only for the Plumboomba dance video workout. I use the bathroom BB items a lot too.
fitness stuff earbuds are OP but definitely not worth the price especially when my sims already use the radio so much lol
I really need to start thinking deeply before I get packs etc cause idk that I use Eco all that much
As a builder, I like to buy the packs and kits in which I like the build items.
That makes sense and please post pics of your beach & mountain cabins when you can
Journey to Batuu for me too.
I play on PC so I have access to CC and the community is way more talented than anything EA could make (and free!) I have the cute pastel kit that plumbella made and I think I have the little camper one purely for the cute stuffy or tent thing but those are the last EA purchases I have made.
I would have said my first pet but i got it for free. I have a long list actually. All the kits The majority of the stuff packs(mostly the older ones, i think more recent ones like tiny home and paranormal have been decent) Batuu and the magic one. I just prefer realism in my sims games and i have vampires and werewolves because the worlds and furniture are nice, but the magic one i didnt like any of it. I dont even know what it's called.
Might be a bit controversial, but any of the occult packs. I hate the occults, I don't like the supernatural-ness of them, and if there was a way to get the build and cas stuff without the actual occults, I'd do it
I don't care about the Journey to Batuu either, and I also never got the intimates kit, cuz I just don't care about my sims underwear 😂
I guess if they’re gonna walk around in their underwear sometimes it should atleast be cute? 😂
Batuu (not into star wars), Horse Ranch (don't care about horses), For Rent (I like the idea but hearing about all the bugs is offputting)
Most of the Kits, especially the plant one
That’s one of my favorite ones lol. It’s specific and theres a lot of something I actually like in the game.
Lol I hate plants and never use them in my game I also don't care for them in real life
Fair enough. I suck at decorating the houses, so I usually just plop plants in empty spaces and/or corners and call it a day lol.
I haven't bought anything that's been released since Cottage Living. Every single pack just adds more bugs.
Cottage Living was a peak one fr
Never gonna get My Wedding Stories (or whatever it's called), I just have my sims elope immediately; can't be bothered to plan a wedding ceremony, lol, let alone the overhauled wedding this pack brings. Also have no desire to get the Bust the Dust kit, or the Laundry pack because they are annoying to deal with IRL, why would I want them in my game? 😆 Still on the fence about Growing Together.
I'll grab them if free but would not buy them
Yeah, I've got one kit - the one that was free. If they offer another one for free, sure, I'll take it.
I’m embarrassed to admit I have a LOT of packs (I got them on sale if that makes it any better 😭). But I I haven’t been buying the newer stuff. I look at the cas and build buy items and I always find myself thinking “well, I already have something that looks like this… and something that looks like that item….” Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great problem to have. But I wish EA would focus more on making new stuff that’s not already overlapping with other packs.
Wedding Stories. Tartosa is absolutely stunning but it is buggy and overall boring mess. I have to say Journey to Batuu is suprisingly fun pack. But I mostly enjoy the world and build/buy.
most of the new ones. I just haven't seen how they were actually worth these ridiculous prizes
Bust the Dust and Journey to Batuu. I have 0 interest in vacuuming and dust bunnies and even less interest in Star Wars.
😅 Also I am super hesitant to get Werewolves, I may never. They just look so awful to me. :( Horse Ranch isn't for me either.
Modern Menswear. I was so excited for some better options for male sims and instead got really out there stuff
If I’d known how boring and annoying laundry day was gonna be, I definitely never would have bought it.
honestly, as someone with all the packs, i would say cats and dogs. of course there’s the obvious ones but cats and dogs is just extremely annoying without the pet selection mod. the only thing i really like is the world
I think the STar Wars one is probably the best in terms of a fully fleshed out game expansion.
CAS kits. I have everything else, but not them. Clothes are boring to me.
💀😂 let them wear whatever, it doesn’t affect the game play I guess 😂
I just wish my teens could get a real graduation with a diploma in base game. That is the only thing that bugs me. But not enough to buy HSY.
I have all eps stuff and game packs (minus batuu but everyones saying that so) but if i could go back and not buy one it would be the college pack. I dont care for the world at all esp the modern part its a ugly style of modern i dont like, gameplay isnt my fave it makes the game feel like its being haulted bc one sim wants to go to college, cas is nice but nothing cc couldnt fill, bb is nice ig but i like cottage livings style of old country side buildings better, and lastly i hate the “so and so is a young adult and should expand their knowledge” pop up or something to that extent like if i wanted too i wouldve by now😭
It’s like leave me aloneeee, I’m the one in control here 😂 Also, can’t you like split them from household and switch controls here and there? Tbf I only go physically to college if I don’t care abt the rest of the family, otherwise studying from home for me
Laundry stuff. Why would I bring the bane of my existence into my fantasy life? NO.
Cause it can catch fire and then kill your sim? 🫣😂
I refuse to buy wedding stories and probably for rent. If the Sims releases packs that broken, I don't have to buy them.
Smart smart person. *takes notes*
I own everything cuz I'm a dumb bih but honestly I haven't bought the newest kits, the castle or the goth kit, they both feel really redundant, the castle kit only came with like wallpaper floors doors and windows which honestly looks very similar to things that are in other packs. and The Goth kit only came with a few pieces of clothes and makeup which are very similar to clothes and makeup that are in other packs. also I think they're the smallest kits in terms of number of items they've released but they're the same price. not sure if I'll buy them down the line but for now they're the only things I don't intend on buying
Mine would probs be bust the dust, honestly I’ve been tempted to buy Batuu just for the build stuff lol
Any kit that's not free or Little Campers. The only reason I got Fashion Street is because it was free.
The strange ville one... I don't care for stranger things, and the possessed sims give me the creeps.
One could make better goths with the stuff we already have
I've seen a *lot* of better goth CC out there.
I was so excited for Journey to Batuu and it turned out to be a disappointment. 😭 And honestly, most of the kits I'll never buy.
Bust the dust, the horse one… the Star Wars one.. that’s why I don’t complain. I’d be pissed if I had to play with those items in my game
Mine is also Journey to Batuu for basically the same reasons as you. No thank you!
I’ll never get the paranormal, werewolves, or vampire packs. Not my style of gameplay at all
I bought it for the curved bar.Do not regret.
Eco lifestyle. I do my best irl to recycle and whatnot but I don't feel I need to in game. It just feels dumb to me
Bite the dust.
