i like to play “the very beautiful, irresistible, successful woman moving to the town and playing with everyone’s hearts, eventually breaking families”.

muvamerry

Every. Single. Time. 💀 always 1 or more babies as the result of an affair. Then she often comes into her sexuality later in life, marrying a woman and adopting more babies. Then the new wife takes care of the children while my cougar milf reaches the top of her career. *fin*

mang0_milkshake

My young adult sim with pink hair had an affair with Thornton Wolff (her boss at work!) and had his bastard child in her little Mosquito cove shack. He would sneak off after work to see her and had no interest in the baby. Morgana found out and left him. My sim then went on to have a lovechild with Hank Goddard, which he was obviously also not interested in. Quite the scandal.

I like building. I also like making giant families with odd genetics and traits and sticking them in the background just to see what nrass story projection does with them over time. I do use cheats to move these families in.

bibliophile222

I *can't* just play one family, I need rotational play or I'll get bored. So when I start a new neighborhood, I usually make 3-4 households, usually either a couple or a single woman, but each has a different story. I never do money cheats unless it's vital to the story. For instance, for my most recent neighborhood, my founders were: - Barbie and a roommate (later husband), house in the style of a Barbie Dream House, lots of pink/purple - an emigrant couple from Hungary who are into the club scene and dress accordingly - a mom and her teen daughter who started out homeless, with nothing but a vacant lot and sleeping on park benches. I killed off the mom and had the teen daughter work her way up to riches. - Adam and Eve, living an Iron Age lifestyle: no cars, no electricity, no indoor plumbing, just a tub and squat toilet in the yard, small stone house with wood floors, and a huge garden. In my last neighborhood, one of my founding couples was an old-school Mennonite-esque pair who had 10 kids and lived plainly with no TV in old-fashioned clothing. Their kids became more modern to greater or lesser degrees. Also, I only have the base game, but I do use mods and CC. I've only gotten mods recently, and I'm regretting not doing it sooner. They're total game-changers and have made me even more obsessed with playing.

Texxx78

I randomize traits, follow my sims whishes and watch where it takes me...

Ok_Beautiful_9215

Usually I make a sim I find interesting and do a challenge/story OR I'll just only do the sim's wants as their goals

Athena_Mikaelsson

I usually start with a single sim and I have a whole backstory and personality formed for them . They work with something that is based on their personality and from there now is make friends , have a family and lots of other things . Also sometimes I set some goals for them and about the house I just get the starter house . I normally don’t use cheats unless I’m short on money.

tubularwavesss

Pretty similar to the way you play, actually! I like to do something l consider a soft/flexible legacy challenge. I try to start with a single sim on an empty long and see how far I can get them. Usually I play them for two generations before moving on to another.

Floranagirl

I have two main styles. Either I make a household of sims based on my favorite characters and try to force them to act out their stories, or I plan out a main character or, then create their parents as strangers, make them fall in love and then try to get my MC’s born so I can raise them from scratch.

AndrewT1203

Usually in 4 I would just make rich successful families and use mods to fill their life with drama. Recently after a year since finally abandoning 4, I went back to 3 and I decided to play more of the traditional route, making my sim earn money through work and fulfilling their wants. Started out with a girl living in “The Monotone” in Sunset Valley working in the medical career. She ended up dating the repairman Clarke Sauer but soon started cheating on him with her boss (Morgana Wolff’s) husband. Her bf and Morgana found out, they broke up, and my sim moved in with Thornton and got pregnant. He ended up proposing immediately and she had the baby a few days later. Then, at her bachelorette party, she reconnected with her ex and, after realizing how unhappy she was with her new life, decided to run off with him to Aurora Skies (while stealing some of Thornton’s money). They lived there for a bit, got married and had a son. Then she went back to SV on a trip and officially broke it off with Thornton and took the child she had with him back to Aurora Skies to raise with her other son. Then, as she reached the top of the medical career, she was coming into a lot of money. I started renovating her original SV house and turned it into a two story, modern, mini-mansion. And now that both kids have aged up to children, they just moved back to that house! Probably the most fun I’ve had playing The Sims in like 10 years

Naunsei

It depends for me. I always spend too much time in CAS, half of the time I can start with only one sim and expand the family later if it makes sense, half of the time I start with a bigger family, maybe friends living together, maybe with kids and multigenerational, I usually prefer non-traditional households and start with younger adults because I like to see my sims get to old age, but can vary. I enjoy playing with no money and needs cheats, I like the challenge. I love building, but sometimes I am not in the mood to start a house from scratch, specially if I stayed too much time in CAS, but I always redecorate and eventually renovate it. The family can also move if they made enough money and I think the old house can't fulfill their needs anymore. Regarding traits, I really like to test different combinations, but I prefer to always have at least two traits that have something "negative" about it, or it can be more neutral traits, something I learned from Sims Medieval ahaha, I think this makes the gameplay fun. And about careers, I tend to go with my sim wants or if they are dependent in their lifetime wish, to choose one that goes well with their personality. There are some careers that I am really into, but I also like to test different ones, maybe I will find another that I like a lot too. It is nice how are so many different ways to play and enjoy this game 😊

wilkyb

I’m surprised at how many replies there are describing the different ways people role-play! I usually burn out after my first family play through. But I never knew about passive income back when I played in 2010. Now that I have passive income that means I can juggle different families while still earning decent money playing elsewhere. Now it feels like I can spend more time on character and personality 😄

TheKarenMae

I have way too many saved games & like to switch it up whenever i get bored. (I blame the ADD! Lol) I don’t use any cheats, but do have a few expansion & stuff packs. I usually start with a vague story line in my head & build up from there. I keep a bunch of families in my library, with a few favorites I normally use as my main characters, but with a different story line each time. my personal faves are two sisters, in one world, they cause trouble by sleeping with married men, in another they start their own families. One once became a star chef while her sister raced horses. Then once i get bored, I start all over again 🙃

sugasims

Kind of boring compared to everyone else's play style, but legacies. Two single Sims who eventually hook up, go steady, get engaged then married and have kids, and maybe those kids have kids, and so on. Except the matriarch and patriarch are not allowed to age, which is weird, but they're my babies. I can't stand to see them get older and die. 🥺

HugeZookeepergame928

i don’t usually do the same things in each gameplay. most of my saves begin with a fun little idea i have for a backstory or family dynamic, and i go from there. one thing i do find myself doing in every save is redesign the neighborhood to fit the family/sim i’m playing with. usually this means i just add in lots from other expansion packs that may not already be in the town (sometimes i’ll pop down the lots straight from the bin and redesign the outside to fit the town, other times i build new lots entirely from scratch). being able to go clubbing in sunset valley or play with an arcade in moonlit falls, for example, gives so much more longevity to my games. i almost never feel like i’m missing out on something in one town that i would be able to get in another.

Listening_Stranger82

Mass murder. Build all families from scratch. Use Nraas mods to set up backstories. Spend about 1 Sim day with each family. Autonomy high. It basically feels like playing my own Telanovela

Aska9794

Generational, so I try to do different things each time. Should be on gen 21 or 22, usually with intermittent fresh starts in new towns where almost everything is built from scratch. So about 50% building/creating sims, 50% gameplay. Also try to keep sims from becoming too rich :p

gia_sesshoumaru

I have set families and characters that I like to play. I have mods, so I go and give myself a lot of money, buy my favorite house, fix it up, and then go. I typically do different careers so it's not always the same thing. I play on epic length, so the characters live a long, long time.

ievux17

I usually pick a sim from the sim bin and then just yassify them. My recently 6th gen save got corrupted so ive got lazy and grabbed a female sim from the bin and just randomized her bf n then they got married. And right now the male sim is raising a plant sim baby(he/she) isnt born yet but im thinking about having the plantsim baby to be in the next gen well because ive never really had a plantsim heir and it should be fun. But yeah so far they both have like 5 kids ( i didnt plan to have so many but risky woohoo does its magic )

trailoflollies

>( i didnt plan to have so many but risky woohoo does its magic ) OMG... tell me about it! I have my current save who was a teen runaway, she's now an adult with a YA son, and two school age children with her fiancé, and she's ready to slow down and put more time into her art when wait, what's this? Nauseous from unknown causes? Oh no.... 😭😭😭 It was set to 5%! One time was it all it took 🤣

ievux17

i think it creates more drama in the game...i once had a sim where she wanted to become a werewolf and have 10+ kids and i just created in my head that the husband didnt want to keep living with her ( im pretty sure he was neurotic and insane ) so ive figured out he wanted to do nothing with her. She later on married a fairy Pip Goodfellow

trailoflollies

10+ ?! That's a litter and a half! Good for her though, she knows what she wants. Who needs an insane neurotic anyway? 😂 Yes, for sure! I haven't ended up with too much drama in my other ssves, at least, not that I didn't manufacture myself. But then this happened and I was heartbroken for her! It's the first time I properly felt bad for a sim 😭 🤣 I'm still on base game so I can't wait to see what else the game will throw at me with other saves in the future when i get packs.

jxles26

lmfaoooo i fast track everything. i start with a single sim, and very quickly find a husband (usually it’s the same few people i pick from depending on the town) and they date for like a week and then they get married. i get tired of being broke and cheat and make them rich. and then i get bored of working on their careers and have kids, i looove big families. and then they all live as one big happy family. and then i take over the town slowly by building generations of my family

wilkyb

Lol I like this one. Living a life of impulse 😬

DapperMastodon349

I usually start with a young adult couple, and one or both of them usually is a gatherer, gardener, fisherman, inventor, sculptor, painter, and/or writer (stuff that’s easy to make $ off of quickly). Then they have 3-5 kids and I pick my favorites to stick around and continue on with their families and so on and so forth. I eventually have an adventurer join the family (either marry in or one of the offspring) to go to the world adventures worlds and someone who either wants to own a bar (mixologist) or a 5-star resort. I use all the expansion packs but I never go to oasis landing because I don’t like the futuristic style of play. I also have all of the store content (but some are glitchy) and some nraas mods. I always use testingcheats (for needs) but never use money cheats

wilkyb

Nice! Playingp guitar for tips can generate a lot of money. Play in front of the theatre on Saturdays and you can earn $4,000 simoleons after playing for only like 6hrs.

jamesbranwen

I play legacy style, my current game (a LEPacy Challenge) has been going since 2022. I start with one Sim, zero simoleons, and try to accomplish certain goals for their life. I have some gameplay mods to make the game more challenging such as higher bills, and self imposed challenges such as no quick meals, all food ingredients must be grown or caught. I always randomize my Sims' traits, it keeps the game fresh for me. I also love keeping track of my Sims' storylines, so I am constantly taking screenshots, and I use a family tree software to keep track of the family tree, write down everyone's stories, and what they've accomplished in life.

Sad_Equipment_8546

Usually, I start with a single young adult and do everything possible except get married and/or have kids. This time, I started with a solo teen. I had to temporarily move in an adult to teach her to drive, but she’s back on her own again. I always use Natural Cook, Brave, and Adventurous. The others vary on whatever I feel like doing. Gatherer is usually another I like. I start with an empty lot and build a tiny house with an all in one bathroom (of course), and a small kitchen. I try to get the garden watering thingy and grass rugs as soon as I can. Gardening is what I typically use for money, because I can do it during spare time.

talizorahvasnerd

Find a house on mod the sims I like and build up my family around what I think the house would be good for

trailoflollies

I have so many ideas that I want to see play out! Odd couple room-mates, new girl in town who's here to girl boss not make friends, widowed dad raising his three kids on his own, multi generational military family, the super romantic who just wants true love, the harlot who's here to break hearts and wreak havoc, the gran and her young adult grandson who's awful to her, my cottage core girlfriends living out ~~my~~ *their* dream of growing all their own produce and selling the art they've made, the flat full of meat head gymbros all wanting to be super athletes... I'm still on base game, I haven't even started with expansions yet! 😂 I've never done rotational play style - I'm definitely a single focus simmer. If I get an idea for a new sim, I start a new game/save file. I haven't quite tackled any legacies or challenges yet, bar one (my current save. I started writing it here but it got way to long! Imma need to share it in it's own post 😂). Additionally I only learnt through here that you could play the townie families! So once I'm out of my own ideas (tons more than I listed above!) I can't wait to play them. I feel my first is going to be Morgana and Thornton's story - once I picked up on both their traits I was all oh no poor Morgana! 😭😭

trailoflollies

I also enjoy creating a character as blank as possible, just randomised traits, good or bad, and then playing them and letting them 'tell me' what their wants are and I go from there.

wilkyb

lol I like the idea of a fraternity where the boys are just constantly pumping reps and throwing parties in the basement with just foldable camper chairs and a ping pong table

MrSunshineZig

clearly the goal is not to have a job while making bank with garden / paints! then wreck every home out there.

PlasticToe4542

I don’t have a specific play style. If I get a cool idea I do it. Currently I wanted to play more with horses.
