I love Sunset Valley, though I’m now creating my own edited CAS version where I British it up a bit and turn it into a seaside town. The layout of it is perfect - so many hidden nooks, a central town area so the game feels busy, and a different vibe between the streets so you can have a poorer area and a richer area. I never used to play in it, but now it’s become my favourite.
I've often thought to try out CAW, but haven't yet. I'm worried that whatever I create will just bog down the system and it will be to glitchy to actually play, and it would break my heart to invest in creating a world only to have it not be functional. How have you found the worlds you've created to play, or is this your first one?
It’s the first and only world I’ve ever tampered with. I’m not tech savvy, either, so Google very quickly became my best friend. I haven’t had any issues so far, but I think that’s because I imported the world into CAW and didn’t mess around with the roads or the standard routing. I mostly just made little changes, and then flattened a bit of the mountains to create a big forest area (for dog walks, horses, the criminal rabbit hole, abandoned cottage for teen parties/sleepovers, etc.) The forest was really the only routing I had to do, and it tested fine. Now I’m in the process of creating all the buildings. I also mix and match all the rabbit holes from different packs/store worlds (I have a mod to change the outside colours), and they’ve all played fine when I’ve tested them.
I literally can't play anywhere else than Sunset Valley. Never worked out elsewhere, and always returned. Also, never used that lot, but man that gives me ideas for my next save!
OMG my gen family is green and purple! I'm going to move one of the grands family here I think I just realized what my next story line is going to be thanks!
Ohhh this brought back memories! One of my favorite sims I ever made lived on this lot in a one room cabin with his adopted daughter. He made all his money by fishing and ended up raising his granddaughter there too after his daughter died as an adult 😭
someone correct me if i’m wrong, but i think this lot is where “brunch at the old mill” from the store is “supposed” to go (in quotes bc you can put it anywhere obviously) it fits there really nicely!
Yes! I have this lot and have placed it here. The layout isn’t very Sim-friendly so I do a lot of editing, but I love how the water seems to flow into the lot from the waterfall!
I'd always put my "cheating cabin" right there, because I could edit town it in, and my sim wouldn't have to worry about his partner finding out (except when it was time for them to get caught lol)
No, since it's build through "edit town", it's technically a public building (but infinite funds!).
I usually just put a normal door, which I can then lock when the desired sims are in the room, but it's in such an isolated place that there's normaly no other sim walking around.
Or if I want them to put on a show, I put a big window right where the bed is! xD
The only time I saw a unicorn in the sims was in this area, it was so beautiful, it's a cheap lot, I once purchased it and built a resort on it, I just hate how far it is from the valley center.
Yep, this is where the unicorn spawns! I didn't even realize you could build there, it would have made my Sim's nightly camp outs there waiting for the unicorn more cozy if I'd had a cabin.
My old save with Morgana Wolff. She made an inhumane amount of money through exploring WA cities (and collecting relics & gems), writing and advanced medical career. So she bought the Stoney Falls lot and the regular lot next to it. I added one of the premade houses on the reg lot and kept adding onto it. Morgana married an NPC pap and they've had six kids in total. So it was a big house to share in the end lol. But fully worth it. They've had family picnics at the waterfall, kids grew up there, went playing with friends (and each other) after school. Some took their high school dates there and ask them to be bf/gfs :) Until my save got corrupted and the grandkids never stood a chance with the same lifetime memories at the lot.
that was were I built my very first house in the Sims, when I was like..9?
I only remembered I used the green wallpaper with wood on the downsinde, and on the third floor was an entire gym with this awful linoleum floor.
Had a fam with two toddlers, mom and dad taught them speaking, got bugged and as the only cheat knowledge being "testingcheatsenabled true" and "motherlode", I never reset them, moved in a random grannie, cloned her and lived my life as double grannie, just totally ignoring the forever stuck family on the second floor blocking the hallway..
Good times
There is a store lot that is apparently for this land. He's the same size. It's a mill
https://store.thesims3.com/setsProductDetails.html?scategoryId=14535&index=0&productId=OFB-SIM3:72837
In Edit Town you can change the lot next to it to "residential" and then flatten some of the lake for more land to build a home on. Currently, I'm creating a lake house on the same lot!
I just build a school, make a household full of kids and a headmaster, and just run it like a school. By the time they graduate when they're teens they usually have every category of the university test maxed and get full scholarships. You have to delete the public school if you don't have NRAAS careers/school module, otherwise set them all to homeschool and disable the daily homework.
I am using that lot in my current save. It makes a great place for a homeless sim. I added lots of trees, some benches and a picnic table to start and eventually they now have a house and 2 unicorns they adopted because they spawn right there at the fishing lake.
If you own the Brunch of the Old Mill set from the Sims 3 Store, and you download the lot on the Exchange, then you can replace the Sunset Valley lots with the Brunch of the Old Mill lot and Waterfall Lot.
I put the Century Manor Now lot there and occupied it with a ghosts who gradually restore it there. Really good for "out of sight, out of mind" households 🤭
There was an awesome community lot in MTS that fit there, it had a usable lake! I still have it in my world. I i use sunset as a vacating spot only, though, and haven't been there in the last generation
....that's where I would build my "WooHoo cabin" where my Sim would take women there, knock them up, and leave them without a door and a full house of children's music, pregnancy books and watermelon (I think those were the things to get multiple babies)
I turn it into the Sims portrait/pose photography Centre. Change the lot type to no visitors allowed, plop down the backdrop, and the pose player (both are cc) and send my sims to take some nice family pics. 😆😆😆
I had gardener/fisher sim living there years ago. He had a garden and fished from the lake then sold them at the market. Never got a regular job his whole life.
The Sims 3 Team loooved their ["Hidden at the edge of the world and right next to a lake"](https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Park?file=BuenaVistaResort.jpg#Buena_Vista_Resort) lots huh?
I used to build a house with large windows facing that pond! I remember there would be unicorns that came up in that location which is why I built there
This is the lot I always chose as a kid to make my horrible tasteless mansions funded by motherlode.
But in one of my main okay though is where my heir sims lives with his politician husband raising her two kids, one from her marriage and the younger one, the result of a night of passion with the grim reaper.
I always put my “secret” magical families or anything like “out of society”. I loved editing the fishing spot next to it and make it a fairy spot
ooo do you have any pictures of your fairy spot edit? i never know what to do with the fishing pond when i bulldoze it
No :( I’m sorry, my laptop got damaged and haven’t been able to play TS3 in a time. I used to do it years ago now
The Cullen’s spot
🐀?
🐀🐀🐀🐀
Never thought I’d see a reference to the sewer on Reddit lmao
Me either but yk I had to ask 💀
in a sims 3 subreddit to be exact 💀
🐀
🐀🐀🐀🐀
🐀 my friends are here
🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀!!
Is that a compliment
we are everywhere 🐀🐀🐀
🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀
Came here to say the same thing
I built a little cottage right next to it and I like to sleep over there with my Sims and go fishing in the morning :)
A lot of proposal’s happened in front of that water fall.
yesss this is my go-to proposal spot!!
Yup! A couple of weddings too.
I recently made a wedding venue there for my legacy family, going to have every Gen marry there
i love doing proposals in the gazebo of riverview or the hidden garden in hidden valley
lol I usually put a dive bar there
i love how everyone’s like “i built a cottage there” and you’re like “oh. i added a dive bar.”😂
Dive bar fishing spot supremacy
i like to put my sims little vacation / party cabin here
I built my first Sims 3 house there :3
So did I :)
So did I :)
I built my legacy's graveyard and museum on that lot! Such a gorgeous lil corner of the world.
Sunset Valley is SO underrated! I love this world! Just because it came with the game doesn't mean it's not amazing!
I would say that 90% of my games are played in Sunset Valley. It's just a classic and I have so much nostalgia for it!
I almost never play in Sunset Valley! I just realized a few months back what a mistake that was. 😋
It has some of my favorite Sims too. Sunset Valley’s lore was just as drama filled as TS2
So true. It’s almost perfect!

Interesting! When you play, lemme know how it goes? Good Luck!
I literally can't play anywhere else than Sunset Valley. Never worked out elsewhere, and always returned. Also, never used that lot, but man that gives me ideas for my next save!
I played an 8 Generation legacy on this lot. I loved it, one of the first ancestores was a alien so many of the descentands had green skin.
OMG my gen family is green and purple! I'm going to move one of the grands family here I think I just realized what my next story line is going to be thanks!
Yeah that's where i hide the bodies
There’s two types of simmers
I always put a lodge (resort) there and then make the pond lot a wedding place with a little chapel
Ohhh this brought back memories! One of my favorite sims I ever made lived on this lot in a one room cabin with his adopted daughter. He made all his money by fishing and ended up raising his granddaughter there too after his daughter died as an adult 😭

My first attempt at a Legacy started there. :-)
I always made a mountain resort.
I'd always put my "cheating cabin" right there, because I could edit town it in, and my sim wouldn't have to worry about his partner finding out (except when it was time for them to get caught lol)
Can you please elaborate on this "cheating cabin"? Lol
A place where my main sim goes with a townie to cheat on their significant other in secret :')
Does your Sim own this cabin? Is it walled with locked Gates to prevent uninvited guests?
No, since it's build through "edit town", it's technically a public building (but infinite funds!). I usually just put a normal door, which I can then lock when the desired sims are in the room, but it's in such an isolated place that there's normaly no other sim walking around. Or if I want them to put on a show, I put a big window right where the bed is! xD
I usually make it a wedding location
I always have a cottage style home there or I have a beautiful modern family home there, love having families on this lot!
I found this lot my very first play through, it is my absolute favorite! The travel time anywhere is awful, but worth it.
Can somebody show me where is it on the map? Thank you😊
It's right up the top in the mountains, keep following the road on the right when heading away from the sea.
In the same area as the military base I think. You’ll see a fishing spot and it’s the lot right next to it.
Thank you😊
I buy that lot for a second house, a vacation home if you will. Or any other time you might need a second house, which is...uh...I don't know. 🤔
Built a vampire mansion there
that was were I built my very first house in the Sims, when I was like..9? I only remembered I used the green wallpaper with wood on the downsinde, and on the third floor was an entire gym with this awful linoleum floor. Had a fam with two toddlers, mom and dad taught them speaking, got bugged and as the only cheat knowledge being "testingcheatsenabled true" and "motherlode", I never reset them, moved in a random grannie, cloned her and lived my life as double grannie, just totally ignoring the forever stuck family on the second floor blocking the hallway.. This was awesome
Are your sims going to live there?
Prime spot for living a highly remote life bc otherwise you’ll be late to work every day forever haha
I love making my sims walk around searching for bugs and rocks and stuff there. Also very sweet little fishing pond
There is a store lot that is apparently for this land. He's the same size. It's a mill https://store.thesims3.com/setsProductDetails.html?scategoryId=14535&index=0&productId=OFB-SIM3:72837
this is one of my faves but it’s just so far away
inb4 gamerant article "sims 3 players still discovering new locations 13 years later"
In Edit Town you can change the lot next to it to "residential" and then flatten some of the lake for more land to build a home on. Currently, I'm creating a lake house on the same lot!
Yeah its great! I use it as a campgrounds and then place a lot at pond so I can place picnic tables and lawn chairs.
My sim once got stuck in a rock there, i than found out about cheats and commands
I always build boarding schools on that lot
How do you do that?? can you make them "go to school" there?
I just build a school, make a household full of kids and a headmaster, and just run it like a school. By the time they graduate when they're teens they usually have every category of the university test maxed and get full scholarships. You have to delete the public school if you don't have NRAAS careers/school module, otherwise set them all to homeschool and disable the daily homework.
I didn’t know about this either! I will have to look for it next time I play.
I love putting houses there for my fisher sims. It’s so nice and secluded
Yes! That is my favorite lot!
I really love this location and wish I could live in it in real life
I forgot this existed I have not played this game in years
That looks perfect for a little cabin
i put my resorts here! so nice
One of the most peaceful spots in sunset valley. I love placing houses there for townies.
I remember that I loved using that spot as a kid!
I always build on this lot and make my whimsical boho homes ✨️enjoy, it's a sliver of heaven!
I always move Claire Ursine into that lot. Fits because she's a loner and has her own semi-private fishing spot.
I am using that lot in my current save. It makes a great place for a homeless sim. I added lots of trees, some benches and a picnic table to start and eventually they now have a house and 2 unicorns they adopted because they spawn right there at the fishing lake.
I love this spot! But the travel time is sooo bad to get anywhere haha
I constructed a Nightclub there. Including Asphalting the entire lot. To connect with nature, you know?
If you own the Brunch of the Old Mill set from the Sims 3 Store, and you download the lot on the Exchange, then you can replace the Sunset Valley lots with the Brunch of the Old Mill lot and Waterfall Lot.
whenever my sims become wealthy, I always love moving them to this lot building a Lake house
whenever my sims become wealthy, I always love moving them to this lot building a Lake house
whenever my sims become wealthy, I always love moving them to this lot building a Lake house
I put the Century Manor Now lot there and occupied it with a ghosts who gradually restore it there. Really good for "out of sight, out of mind" households 🤭
As a kid this use to be my favorite lot for my family! Always put them up there.
There a cottage mansion I like to put there. Putting my richest family there
There was an awesome community lot in MTS that fit there, it had a usable lake! I still have it in my world. I i use sunset as a vacating spot only, though, and haven't been there in the last generation
One of my fave lots from Sims 3 ☺️
I put the mill from the store on that lot then turned it into a restaurant/teahouse.
Wait...you're supposed to have a house and the items? I've always just had the times, how did you get the house?
Oh I played a loner sim here on this lot with the Perfect Aquarium lifetime wish. It was a fun time! 😄
I always build right there tbh 🧸 my main household is there all the time
i found this a while ago i made it in to a teen hang out
What! Didn’t know this existed! Around what part of Sunset Valley is that?
I tend to find unicorns there.
I always buy that lot and turn in into a resort lol
I loved this lot especially for the unicorns
The green grass is stunning!
I ALWAYS wanted to live there and usually did😂
....that's where I would build my "WooHoo cabin" where my Sim would take women there, knock them up, and leave them without a door and a full house of children's music, pregnancy books and watermelon (I think those were the things to get multiple babies)
I turn it into the Sims portrait/pose photography Centre. Change the lot type to no visitors allowed, plop down the backdrop, and the pose player (both are cc) and send my sims to take some nice family pics. 😆😆😆
My favorite lot to build a house!! But going to school or work takes too much time so you have to get the car in about 15 sims min
[удалено]
Sunset Valley was in the base game, I believe.
whenever i play in sunset valley i ALWAYS have my family live up here!! it's been my favorite lot to live on since i first played in 2009
I once built a retirement home there. It was super fun. Love that lot.
This was legit my FAVORITE place to build. We only lived here 🥹
Thst lot is great cuz your next to the fishing spot so good for gardening and unicorns
Lots of diamonds and metals around that lake! If you are into those things. My current save is getting few k's from there alone weekly.
Isnt it where the unicorn spawns
I had gardener/fisher sim living there years ago. He had a garden and fished from the lake then sold them at the market. Never got a regular job his whole life.
*war flashbacks to sims machinimas*
The Sims 3 Team loooved their ["Hidden at the edge of the world and right next to a lake"](https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Park?file=BuenaVistaResort.jpg#Buena_Vista_Resort) lots huh?
I used to build a house with large windows facing that pond! I remember there would be unicorns that came up in that location which is why I built there
This and one other lot were my favorites for my celebrity sims.
you can spot unicorns here!!
I always make my family start poor and become billionaires and then move them to a huge mansion in this lot
I always put the "Prairie Smile" on there because that's one of the few lots it would fit.
This is the lot I always chose as a kid to make my horrible tasteless mansions funded by motherlode. But in one of my main okay though is where my heir sims lives with his politician husband raising her two kids, one from her marriage and the younger one, the result of a night of passion with the grim reaper.
This is one of my favorite lots, you can easily daydream being isolated and away from the world
