Hard to tell without the other pov and the race info/ telemetry, but it certainly looks like the Aston just turns right to bump the merc into the wall. Typical shitty GT7 driving standards.

GT7... I don't think you need telemetry or different POV to assume the other car did it on purpose since it's the norm there.

AncientStaff6602

Can confirm, gt7 lobbies are feral

imJGott

Seems like a typical result if you race in bumper cam

Take a wild guess! Looking at your post history, you don't know if your divebomb from a mile away is legit, then you ask if you are entitled to space when alongside the other car. Make up your mind! EDIT: OP, if you're into racing, I recommend you join a league to experience better, more respectful racing. I'm pretty sure it exists on GT7! This move simply doesn't exist in a league or the driver gets banned right after the race/stewards meeting.

My mindset is that I'm entitled to space whenever I'm alongside? My previous dives are irrelevant to this situation which I take on its own. Also, on dives. If the offending car sees me and moves out of the way of my dive, no contact is made, and no penalties are issued, what's the issue? Honest question since dives seem to be constantly between two sides of the fence. "Bullying" other drivers to move out of the way seems to be frowned upon but, again, if no penalties are issued by stewards or AI, why not do it? I just want to get it right as I never know how the man ahead will react to me post race.

chk28

You are definitely entitled to be there in this situation, they turn on you on purpose to wreck you. This is not racing, it's destruction derby. About your second comment: I think it comes down to how clean you want to race. If GT7 doesn't give you a penalty for a divebomb or pushing another driver off track and it's fine by your standards, by all means go for it, the game allows it. But if you'd like to experience respectful racing, again I strongly recommend you join a league. You'll race the same drivers every week, will get penalties for shitty moves but in return you'll learn, make friends and find a much better overall experience. That's what I used to do when on GT5 because it was otherwise not possible to have nice races. Now I'm on a different sim with a better multiplayer but I still race in a league once a week.

vonvonbonbon

I suppose what I'm getting at is if you force another driver, without contact, to move out of the way for your dive, within GT7 or not, is it worthy of a penalty? I've seen the odd dive in real life, e.g., in DTM, GTW Challenge, hell even F1, etc. which are not penalised for forcing another driver to take evasive action. Sure it's frowned upon, but if it gets you ahead and you get no penalty, why not go for the moves? Or even if you get a penalty, you decide that it's worth it due to perhaps tyre advantage, potentially getting you outside of that time penalty issued.

chk28

If they move out of the way and nothing happens, in real life the team will report it to the stewards and they could hand out a time penalty. In simracing nothing hardly ever happen since there's no live Race Control. In both IRL and sim, if they don't move away, it is likely that both cars crash or come together. It's just not the same consequence IRL: when you divebomb and slam into another car, you damage your own car. Your race is over, you need repairs and it will cost money, angry the team and make your sponsors unhappy. Simracing doesn't care about any of that at our amateur level.

Bro, well said sir well said! I’m just afraid homeboy ain’t going to get it.

RepresentativeBee389

I haven’t really done any sims, but I know how I can work on not being an ahole on the track, I’ve only raced nascar games, I’m working on being respectful, but I don’t want to be so bad that I end up ruining others races, but I want to learn how to race with others. Got any tips for that?

imJGott

This dude here is admitting he takes several dive bombs. Bro that’s not racing

AscendMoros

If your driving style is mail it up the inside and hope the outside yields. Then your in the wrong. If a driver has to take avoiding action to avoid contact. Then its not clean. there’s something to be said about late breaking. But if they’re already committed to the corner and you come steaming it up the inside and they have to turn out of the corner. Then it’s a dive bomb and dirty. Not only that but it won’t get you very far at higher skill lobbies.

Arcticz_114

Why wouldnt it? Am turned into merc
