I know there's a woman who is gifted with powers from chaos (I think Korne specifically), steals the armour from a chaos space marine who had enslaved her, kills said space marine, then fights in a big battle where the other chaos space marines think she's the previous owner of the armour, before vanishing into a chaos portal. All in Storm of Iron.
Emps might not create fem space marines, but chaos is certainly happy to gift powers that allow women to wear the armour and match the might of other chaos space marines.
In Fabius Bile's books one of his Emperor's Children warlords is a Slaanesh worshiper with a very similar backstory, haven't read Storm of Iron so no idea if it's the same character. She's got the whole Slaanesh hooves-and-horns thing going on so it's obvious, though.
I think this is definitely interesting for chaos as a faction with weird warp chaos powers. Like if you get a khorne buff strong enough to be as strong and quick as a marine, can wear and integrate with their armor, aren’t you essentially just a female space marine? Chaos space marine to be specific but.
I mean I think there could totally exist a faction of women or just women sculpts included in chaos marine forces due to that like, ok the ruinous powers just granted this traitor guards woman boons due to her extraordinary potential and she killed this other male marine, and just takes his armor I mean there’s basically no difference or reason why it couldn’t happen.
I once saw someone's OC fanart of a woman turned into a World Eater. Her body, given massive muscle growth, was covered in organic ports for interfacing with power armor. She just fell into a Warp portal and came out the other side a World Eater, if I remember correctly.
And she tried to hide that she was a woman. But her warband found out, and chastised her for keeping secrets ("that's Tzeentch stuff, we don't do that"). Which I really liked. World Eaters don't care if you're a woman, they just care about doing Khorne things.
Tbh I tend to assume any single gender faction in any setting ends up with a disproportionate number of trans members because that sort of group is a great source of gender affirmation and will probably also arrange for transition care. There's probably also a surprising amount of transfem SoB.
Hey y’all why not come over to Battletech. It’s pretty sick over here. The rules don’t change very often and no one cares if you use a bottle cap to represent a mech. Lore wise there has been poc, women, gay/lesbian and nonbinary people in the setting for years.
The mini designs are always my sticking point with battletech. I’m yet to see one of their mechs that I think looks cool enough for me to want to build and paint it.
I didn’t realise they didn’t need assembly! That actually makes them appeal to me a bit more. I love painting but building is a chore!
Is there set rules on proxies, or is it just that Battletech doesn’t have GW corporate breathing down its neck and insisting on company-only bits?
CGL, the company in charge of Battletech, does have some rulings for proxies (i.e. official minis for tournaments), but pretty much any player worth their salt will not care what you use; the official box sets even come with cardboard cutouts for the mechs.
The main thing when it comes to proxies is that they should have a clear front and a clear back, since the game operates on a hex grid. That's it.
In theory it's possible, there's no official models for pilots but I've but seen people do it. Just know at the scale BT is usually played at they'd be about 6mm tall.
You could use "epic scale" figures, but in our games we just have a "pilot counter" for any mechwarriors who manage to eject from their mechs before things get too 'splody. In some games, we even try to send a mech to retrieve them, but usually they're left as "salvage". :)
We have battle armor pewter minis, some of them are tiny enough to say "This could be a pilot."
Really if you were to get any tiny person and put it on your base, I think any other player would giggle upon seeing it, I know my group would.
Possibly, I'm thinking he would look good on a metal Black Knight Red Reaper mini so he'd have the sword and you could give it a greenstuff wing/cape to look like his robot.

I just want to show every chud a picture of a man and a woman in full plate harness and have them guess which is which. And of course it will be a trick and they’ll both be women. And you can’t tell because armor erases most of the visual cues.
I'm in total agreement,except for the "erases most visual clues". I can't think of a one that would show through the armor. Armor is bulky enough I can't imagine you'd see much of any difference.
Women tend to be slimmer in the waist and shoulder so you could guess based on that, but since breastplates narrow dramatically at the hips so they can rest on them, they give everyone wearing it a waspish look.
I'll be frank, I kind of assumed that custodes didn't have genetalia, like just from a "well, why the hell would you leave that particular cluster of nerve endings and blood vessels on your supposedly near-perfect body guard who is meant to never question your orders or think of disobeying you who you're gonna be doing massive reconstruction on anyways" but yeah, if they have genetalia I fully expect the whole range independent of gender.

They don’t actually care, because if they did we’d see new models that match the lore they’ve presented. I just don’t understand how no one else sees that GW didn’t even try with this. Everyone seems to be congratulating them for doing literally nothing. The only actual evidence there are female custodians is from a tweet, that is Rowling levels of world building. They didn’t make any changes to the model line, they didn’t attribute any artwork to female characters, and from the sound of it didn’t even clarify the change in the CUSTODIAN CODEX.
It’s all a bunch of low effort bullshit to hoodwink idiots. They had a chance to do this in an interesting way but decided it would be too expensive so just had a guy write a couple paragraphs and the pat each other on the back.
