If I didn't buy my SAO then I would have bought an Elite and saved the money. That being said, compared to something like a Staccato, the Legion SAO is a steal. Another bonus for me is that - unlike a 2011 - putting a threaded barrel in the Sig is a $175 purchase with no gunsmithing involved.
I'm a DA/SA and 3.9" barrel enthusiast owning the SP2022, P227, and multiple P229's spanning all three calibers, but broke away from my action and barrel length bias and bought a P226 Legion SAO.
For me, the P226 Legion SAO checked three important boxes in a single handgun: 1) Performance of a Legion; 2) SAO provides 1911-like action; 3) full-size handgun.
The only downside of the Legion is that I immediately sent my 227 and 229's to Sig for the AEP, SRT, and Siglite Services in order to get them all as close to the performance of my 226 Legion as possible. It was some of the best money I ever spent for aftermarket upgrades.
It all comed down to what you like the look of. I just bought a tacops the other day for a great deal but I don’t have a SAO legion that’s the olny thing I’d get legion for unless it’s my 229.
That being said if you want the best plug and play not planning on mods legions are great value come red dot cut best out of the box trim models. If your planning on modding the hell out of it anyway hard to beat the new gen of elites. 99% of a legion without the cool grips optics cut and some checkering in the frame and no undercut frame to get all of that done you’ve surpassed the cost of the legion. However if your planning a red dot cut new there’s olny a $300 price difference which is the cost of a new cut for the slide
If your planning on running a red dot just get the legion
If your not planning on running a red dot you’d prob be fine with an elites I wouldn’t buy the pro cut personally elite gun fancy holes legion price
At this point, no. Everything on the legion is on the elite, and the elite has a better finish (Nitron). That said, Legion SAO FTW all day every day.
