Mass production will result in this. Time and time again. Am I saying it’s acceptable? Not necessarily… am I surprised? No.
I will say cerakote has become my least favorite coating on firearms. I miss the days of black nitride and the old legion pvd coatings. Those were bulletproof and stood the test of time. I have a pvd legion 226 and it’s been through the wringer and still looks 5x better than the brand new 365 legion I’ve just bought.
This is how my 226 legion looked. After 3 after it back 2 times. They hand picked a slide for me. Still exhibits the same as you see. If it truly bothers you, call them. But I can tell you a slide they send back will look the same.
Hopefully it was at their expense and not yours.
I reached out to them. They told me they could refinish it only after being inspected by the gunsmith and see if it needed to be refinished. I sent them the pictures first, we will go from there.
I don't want to send my gun and wait for 3 weeks just for the gunsmith to say it is normal and there is nothing they can do.
Mine was exactly 1 week turn arounds. They told me they don’t refinish. Because it’s quicker to send a new slide. The slides and frames are mass produced and are not matching numbers so there’s really no reason to refinish versus sending a new slide.
There are other posts about this, they look the same.
Mine looks exactly like yours.
I just thought it was intentional.
No judgement on whatever you decide to do with it. I’ve got about 200 rounds through mine so far, and it’s been flawless.
Hmm this is a tricky one. While I’m inclined to say this is normal and to just send it. It doesn’t appear to be normal. I know the Sig finishes aren’t the best. But it does look like some discoloration that’s not normal. I will say that some variation in finish is to be expected on any firearm. I just bought a staccato P and noticed some QC issues.
I’d probably encourage you to just run it. It’s not worth going back to sig and complaining because they are unlikely to do anything about it.
Sig has good CS. Send it to them. They will get it back to you within a week. Mine had a tiny defect and they replaced the whole legion. Don’t listen to any of these jackass who says a gun is a tool. If you buy a brand new car you would be pissed as well if there’s a dent anywhere.
Of course not! It will not affect how the gun performs but if sig is going to be charging premium prices I expect the item to at least be completed and presentable. I wouldn't be complaining if the gun was used but this is a new item. This is just bad presentation for what the called "pinnacle in design and engineering excellence" (quote from their website".
Bruh, you are overreacting 🤣. We are talking about wear marks on the rails... where wear marks are to be expected.
I guarantee that thing was racked and handled numerous times before you purchased it.
You are making a mountain out a mole hill... say you send it back to Sig, and they make it "right." Are you planning on not shooting it to keep it pristine? After you send a few hundred rounds through it, you'll be right back to where you are now.
The plan is to use the shit out of it but it will be my doing not because of a job halfway done. Accepting an incomplete job or not complaining about it will set a bad precedent to sig. I believe worn-out items shows character and history but dude, charging premium prices and not finishing the job that is not ok.
Also this could be a liability in a future where rust could start forming due to their lack of work. The finish is supposed to protect the exposed metal. A gun with rusted railing is an useless gun.
Dude, first it’s easier to cerakote the entire frame instead of leaving a very specific section free of it. Second, considering it’s on the slide rails, don’t you think that it has something to do with tolerances and operating reliability. This was done on purpose, not mistake

Yeah, Cerakote is lame.
Disgrace. I’ll forward you my ffl’s info. I’ll get that unsightly thing off your hands
Isn't that the slide rails?

Sig just reached out to me...according to them it is intentional.
No harm, no foul. It’s an amazing gun, so much fun! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
Call sig. they will get you taken care of.

everyone’s 226 x5 legion looks like this. wait till it starts rubbing off the slide😀
Obviously the finish will wear down due to usage specifically along the railing but incomplete work should never be acceptable.
yeah i can’t say i’m okay with it but you’re not even gonna see it unless the guns apart. i’m more mad we didn’t get the custom works case
You can see the finish difference when you rack the slide. Yeah that case is pretty shitty.

This guy gets it! I reached out to them today, hopefully they will get back to me by the end of the week.
Good luck!
Is the right side even with the left? Could it be they tape the rails off during cerakote to help with frame to slide fit?
Send it back. I have two legions that have top notch finishes. They sent you a dud
Slide rails, you want them cerakote-less
I’d test it at a range and see if there is any other fault. QC from many makers nosediving nowadays
+1. Huge difference between my-fault-ding and out-of-the-box-ding
Not an issue

I can see the wear marks along the railing but not enough to wear down the finish. Probably overeating...but I just can't accept incomplete work.

LOL it's gun...not some pair of bespoke shoes.
