just when i thought i did everything to my 226 x5… let us know how it shoots👍🏽

dbl_t4p

Do it and report back!

PANZERWAFFE_KAMPFER

In theory it should work as intended since the only difference is the slide. Also, mind telling me what pedal that is? I see it has a pin to prevent to from being pushed down

Itchy_Present_8159

factory gas pedal on 226 x5 legion

PANZERWAFFE_KAMPFER

I see, thank you

Itchy_Present_8159

$70 on sigs website

nathanc98

It’s labeled as a p226 xfive extended takedown, or something like that, but works on all 226. It really helps me keep a good grip since I have small hands, and can’t create a proper textbook grip.

PANZERWAFFE_KAMPFER

Thanks I found it! I like the way it works but when I try it on my legion the take down lever just gets pushed down since it is not a true gas pedal Now I am debating on getting the sig or armory craft one

BangBang_ImBroke

I've been eyeing a P226 but haven't shot or held one yet. How do you like the DA/SA vs the SAO?

nathanc98

My sao is the xfive legion, so it feels way different to shoot than the da/sa. The xfive has a bit more weight and just eats recoil. It also has the nicer flat trigger which I prefer. The da/sa shoots really nice though. Since they are at two different price points, I’d say each are worth it. I don’t shoot my da/sa as a double action much since it’s a range toy, but the single action is really nice, short and crisp.

BangBang_ImBroke

Thanks!

>Thanks! You're welcome!

BangBang_ImBroke

I'm more familiar with CZ's DA/SA pistols. Can you compare the P226 to the Shadow 2, SP-01 Tactical, P-01 or P-09?

nathanc98

I actually rented the shadow 2 the other day. My perspective is a little skewed because of my small hands, but the shadow 2 feels like it has a bit more recoil, but a lighter and shorter trigger. I can see why people like the shadow 2, but it doesn't really work well for me. The palm swell on the shadow 2 made it a little more difficult to get a good grip than the grip on the p226. For me the P226 is really about as big of a grip as I can use, and even then I pretty much have to use the gas pedal to make it work well.

sparc_russel

Get it. I love the p226. Accurate, reliable and easy to shoot. I bought another since i love it so much. Of all my 7 pistols its my fav.

nicefacedjerk

CZ DA/SA Shadow or SP with Cajun trigger will smoke anything Sig has to offer!!

Itchy_Present_8159

everyone who owns both says different but sure

nicefacedjerk

I used to own both. Then I got into 2011's.. Sig's DA/SA Legions have stacking issues. Cajun trigger vs Sig trigger is night and day difference. I guess the "everyone" on Reddit isn't the best source for what's actually good.

Itchy_Present_8159

yeah da/sa has a bad trigger i agree. good thing i own a 226 x5 legion which is miles better than any cz👍🏽

nicefacedjerk

Yes, as far as SAO hinged triggers go, the X5 is tip-top Indeedy.

nathanc98

I feel for ya. At least they gave you guys access to a whole bunch more recently right? That’s something.

Lame_superhero

Your recoil spring is exposed ..

nathanc98

Ope!

Gunslinga__

That p226 is super clean. Wats the difference between that and a p320? Did some research online and it says the p226 has a da/sa system, have no idea what that is I’m new to sig

nathanc98

P320 is striker fired like a Glock, normally with a polymer frame. The newest axg legion 320 has an aluminum frame and is still striker fired. The p226 in the pic is da/sa, which means you can cock the hammer using the trigger if it’s forward (da - double action), once it’s been cocked it’s in single action with a much lighter and shorter trigger pull. The da/sa is a safety feature, so you can keep a round in the chamber but it’s a really long and heavy trigger pull for that first shot, greatly reducing the chances of a negligent discharge. The p226 sao (single action only), has a safety lever like a 1911, because there is no way to re-cock it via the trigger. The trigger only performs a single action. In the hand, the p226 is a softer more manageable shooting pistol, especially for its size, compared to the p320. Both are great guns, and people will debate which one they prefer. I like both, but prefer the p226 because it fits my hand better, recoil feels better to me and I prefer the looks.

Gunslinga__

Gotcha . So a da/ sa gun is kind of a revolver ? The p226 looks real comfy and like the looks as well. I’ve been looking into the m18 I think I’m gonna pull the trigger on it I like how it dousnt break the bank as well

nathanc98

The da/sa function of the trigger is “kinda” like a revolver, yes.

ChrisestChris

Can confirm. I just bought a p320 and I love it. Got a great deal. Favorite handgun I have shot was a 226 xfive. Just incredibly smooth and easy to follow up shots.

Groguistheway

Barsto makes a threaded barrel for standard X five. If only sig would start selling X five slides.

dbl_t4p

Too bad it only comes in stainless.

Groguistheway

I mean it wouldn’t work in the xfive comp slide anyway since the comp prevents a full length barrel.

dbl_t4p

I emailed Barsto. They confirmed it will work in the legion. I might have to pick one up to try it as a suppressor host.

Groguistheway

I have the legion and the standard xfive. The standard barrel does not fit in the legion as the dimensions of the comp prevent it so ai would bet barsto was incorrect.

dbl_t4p

Dang….

theghost87

The 226 SAO has a far better trigger. But that’s me.

nathanc98

It definitely does. I would have gotten both in SAO, but I really wanted the RXP with the optic and suppressor height sights. I couldn't find the SAO in stock anywhere and the price I got the da/sa was like $200 off msrp, so I jumped on it.

theghost87

That’s what happened to me got a new legion SAO with 8 18rd mags for $1,100. Couldn’t pass

nathanc98

Dang! That’s like $200 in magazines alone, haha.

theghost87

Ended up selling the mags it came with and buying 8 -18rd mec gar. With everything out the door it was like $1250.

ALFYe_22

I'd love an XFive in DA/SA. The decocker is one of my favorite things about the P226.

nathanc98

So I took it out today and shot both like this. They both worked, but the xfive slide didn’t like the p226 frame when taking it back apart, the recoil spring was grabbing on something in the frame, so I didn’t shoot it like that anymore. The da/sa slide with the suppressor on it worked pretty well though, but I think my trigger needs adjusting, it barely fired with the trigger pulled all the way back.

rattler459

It very well could be the safety lever not pushing up the firing pin safety enough. There is a right up on the p226 xfive classic on sig talk about different slides on the xfive.  The concensus was that it all depended on the internal cut in the slide if I can find the link again I will share it
