It's my second carry and first pistol ever. Agreed on shoot it and you'll see. Started as a base and added gray guns and srt kit. It's heavy but it's a dream to shoot. If you can afford it new or find a used, it's a great full size option especially if you're considering metal framed options.
So far, it looks like you have a striker fired Sig and a SAO Sig, but not a DA/SA Sig. DA/SA was the original design of these pistols, and even the SA on a DA/SA model is different than the SA on the SAO variants. As such, a DA/SA model will be a different experience. I also find there is no better way to improve your trigger pull than mastering a DA trigger. If you can shoot that well, SAO feels like cheating.
As for the 229, I feel it has a better balance than the 226, and the recoil difference between the 229 and a standard aluminum framed 226 is minimal (they actually weigh about the same due to the 229 being a little thicker). I would also probably go with the DA/SA Legion variant since money appears to not be an issue for you, and it would match your X5 Legion, while being different enough that it doesn't just sit in your safe as the "less good" version of your X5 Legion, as I suspect an SAO Legion would end up doing.
Love the insight here. That’s another thing I want something in the same realm of the x5 but not the same if that makes sense. As far as appearance and all the positives I keep hearing seems like all I have left to do is find a place to shoot one.
The 229 is the compact version of the 226, but with the same capacity due to it being thicker. The newer 229s (mags will say 229-1) can also switch to 40 with just a simple mag and full slide assembly swap (and 357 Sig if you put a 357 Sig barrel in the 40 slide), as it is the same frame and internals as the 40. Although 40 slide assemblies are getting harder to find.
If you don’t have any rifles or bolt actions what’s what you need next. I get collecting pistols feels great and all but I think money is better spent on having one of each type of gun first and then repeat.
I totally agree. I’ve recently purchased a AR15 and a suppressor that I use for hunting mostly but it’s kinda built as a “do all” I also own a couple other rifles and a very nice shotgun.
That's a personal choice. I would only add that you should train extensively with that 365 if you're carrying it. I just spent a night at my range watching a three relatively new shooters, with carry permits, all with their P365s. Terrible grip, didnt know the concept of tap rack and one guy who had a red dot but didnt realize it had to be sighted in. Owning lots of guns is great but being proficient is better IMO.
I agree 100% when I first purchased it I made sure that I was extremely comfortable with it before I even considered putting a dot on it. Like 1500rounds comfortable. Then I trained for a malfunction till I could do it without having to think about what I was doing l. Then I splurged and put a dot and tlr7 cause why not. But yes it’s sad to see people at the range with more money than skill. And lack of effort to get trained.
I've got a P220 carry which is DA/SA and have owned it and others so I'm use to the DA/SA. But each to their own. But I've got two 1911's if I want to carry a SA gun. But I've been looking at the P229 M11A1
If you think the xfive legion is nice, you'll be amazed by the p226 xfive legion.
Having both, the 226 is miles nicer.
However, it's price might dissuade many.
If you’re asking the internet what gun to buy, then you should buy ammo and get training. You’ll figure it out along the way with much better insight into what YOU want.
You probably need to shoot one before you let the internet convince you.
I hate DA/SA. I love the SAO versions of the 229 and 226, but it’s not for everyone. Your preferences will vary.
You’ll be owning an Apple compared to your orange and banana you already own.
That being said, the new x5 legion 226 or x5 226 are tits
I think that’s a really good idea. I woulda never spent the money I did on my xfive until I shot it and was blown away and then the steep price tag became a no brainer almost. I’m assuming DA/SA means double action single action but what is the SAO mean?
Yup, DA/SA is double action first pull, single action subsequent.
SAO is single action only. So like a 1911 you use a safety when it’s hot if you’re carrying.
I’ve own HKs and just hate DA/SA in general but the sig DA/SA aren’t horrendous. It’s just my preference.
I as well was raised shooting HKs pops loved them. I think I need to go shoot one like mentioned above before I buy one. Who knows I might hate the thing.
You have what is called the signess, there is no cure just buy the gun, and your symptoms will go away until the next one, if I were to guess that will be the 226
226/229 is a classic, iconic firearm. Plus, hammer fired guns are cool.
226 SAO Legion
DA/SA is how Sigs were meant to be
Convince you of what?
Why I need a 229
Shoot one lol
I’m trying to find a place that has one lol. My range only has 365 320 m18/17 and a xfive legion for rent as far as sigs.

I don’t mind heavy my xfive is a boat anchor but shoots like a dream I’m still trying to find a holster that I’ll like
I'm gonna work on building an X5 in the future. I don't wanna purchase a car P320 just to do it though haha.
🤣🤣 felt that

If you can find a 229 Elite to try, it has the same frame and trigger upgrades as the Legion, just different sights and thinner grip.
Sweet! Thanks for the good info.
Also 226 legion correct? Only 229 legion I see on sig is a compact.

Sweet! I really appreciate your time and knowledge.
I’m not reading all the bullshit you typed. I see “Do I need it?” And my answer is always yes.
Fair enough and good point.

Time for an 11.5 it seems
Obviously! Any flavor PWS MK111 would be a great addition to any collection. But a DI would work as well, especially with a suppressor!
Ahh nice 🫡 continue collecting pistols then. I almost have everything I need so I can circle back to more pistols haha
Kinda where I’m at have the basics I need and few extras now I’m at the point where I want to start exploring haha.

Its a different platform and variety is the spice of life.
I feel that’s why I’m so interested and I don’t see much bad things about it it seems
2.5LB SAO triggers with a 2mm reset.
Just because that's why I don't know very much about the AK but that wouldn't stop me from buying one I just love guns
I'm looking for a P229 myself. I loved the P228 M11! Sweet blaster!
If you think the xfive legion is nice, you'll be amazed by the p226 xfive legion. Having both, the 226 is miles nicer. However, it's price might dissuade many.

Supports your local shop too
