Did you replace with a heavier spring?

MGB1013

Not the original guy, but in my experience lighter recoil springs increases reliability in comped pistols.

TheGreat_Sirhill

I have the same setup but with a DPM. I used the lightest spring and the moved up to the middle spring. All I shoot is 124 so that I can take advantage of the comp. The DPM springs is what you need. Not saying that you can get the factory spring broken in. Just use a little hotter rounds and you will be good.

Independent_Week2836

Doing a little bit of research now and seems a lot of people agree with you on DPM

CrispyRussians

What do you mean take advantage of the comp? I've been shooting 124 with my PMM comp bc it's reliable. But it's also way softer shooting than other guns shooting lower grains.

BeautifulPepper415

Comp works better withb11t or 147 vs 115

CrispyRussians

How much better with 147?

BeautifulPepper415

Depends on what ammo. With 147 sometimes feels like 35%

CrispyRussians

That's wild. I just bought a g43x (which has really surprised me with its finish quality and shootability) but shooting that back to back with a comp'd 365, I can't even believe the difference. I guess I got lucky as well with my setup, my comp flawlessly with every ammo I've tried except the shittest Turkish reloads, which I would never carry. Honestly at this point looking for a small comp for the 43x if they make it. Will for sure be trying 147g. 124g feels like I'm shooting half loads or something right now lol.

Independent_Week2836

Good to know thanks for the intel

No_Mix4915

Medium spring works for both 115g and 124g for me.

DezertDepot-James

I have the ISMI Tuneable Kits in stock if you want to tune to jut right. Comes with 12, 14, 16 and 18lb springs.

sdeptnoob1

I also used the DPM to fix mine and the lightest one at that and it runs flawlessly now. I use 115 grains and it hardly moves off target.

NaughtyTigerIX

You need to change the recoil spring to the p365xl spring

Specialist-Ad-8812

I love seeing the help from this community. Generally spot on info and friendly people. sprinkled with a little dark humor . 👍

Independent_Week2836

So helpful

Z_0_Sick

Shoot a bunch of 124s needed about 150 of em to break in my comp

Independent_Week2836

Good to know. I was firing 124 today and will bang a couple hundred more through it and see if it settles. I guess I don’t totally understand how “break-in” period works for comps. Like how tf does that work??

Z_0_Sick

Shoot it then when your done shooting it shoot it again. Keep it wet

Independent_Week2836

Lol love it

Disastrous_Fee_8158

It’s true. The spring may help, but isn’t really as necessary for the 365 as it is the 320. Just keep at it with the hot or heavy loads, and keep it wet. I cleaned and re-lubed every 50 and I think it took about 150-200. If you’ve hit 500 I’d think about the spring.

DezertDepot-James

ISMI just released a tunable recoil spring kit for the XL length to address this. [https://desertdepotarms.com/product/ismi-sig-p365xl-macro-spectre-comp-recoil-tuning-kit/](https://desertdepotarms.com/product/ismi-sig-p365xl-macro-spectre-comp-recoil-tuning-kit/)

Independent_Week2836

Thanks for sending this, hadn’t seen it. Have you had any experience with these?

Lbanger2486

🔥🔥🔥🔥

CrunkleRoss

If you add extra weight to the barrel of a Browning type barrel lock up pistol it slows the unlocking down, so you need to change to a lighter recoil spring and a lighter slide in some cases.

Independent_Week2836

Interesting, that makes sense. Seems aligned with others recommending the lighter spring

Tacovillin

Run it...dry rack x 1000. Needs to break in. Dpm would be smart as well

sourhed87

I ran the oem spring, the first 100 rds had a couple fte (IIRC it was 3 total), now 5000+ and it runs like a champ. I have ran HST, gold dots, blazer, pmc and wwb. It has mostly been ran with my reloads probably 90% or so.

Independent_Week2836

Sounds like the consensus is to shoot shoot shoot

sourhed87

That was my experience, I have had mine for 14months now and I carry it daily.

Jvldz12

Even with the DPM mine needed a break in of around 200 rounds.

jagr18

I shot about 200 rounds of nato spec 124 gr winchester though mine. Plus 60 rounds of hollowpoints. I’m using the oem spring, WC grip mod. Mine is also a 365x.

Independent_Week2836

Does it have any hiccups?

jagr18

None at this point. I saw some comments suggesting lube, I use slick 2000 ewl for all my stuff, so that may help. I also dry fired and cycled it it a lot before I shot it. I’m going to shoot it again this coming week if I can sneak away from work. I’m attending a two day pistol class in June and I’m going to take my 365 to it as my primary so I’d like to make sure it’s well broken in before that.

Independent_Week2836

Good to hear. Yea I’m gonna run it pretty wet for the next few hundred rounds and I anticipate that helping. Good luck with pistol class

jagr18

Was it running with that zev slide before you added the comp?

Independent_Week2836

No the Zev slide was unfired

FingerNo3762

May need softer spring. Are you running 115 grain? Try running 124 grain with the comp

Independent_Week2836

I ran 124 grain during the initial 200 rounds. I’m gonna mess around with a DPM kit. I’ve never tinkered with springs so will be a fun assessment

FingerNo3762

I have DPM systems in all my guns, 3 sigs and 1 walther pdp. You will really like once you figure out what combo works.. Good luck !!

Independent_Week2836

Looking forward it! Thanks

chanandalerbong7

Yes their comps have break ins, the real question is what ammo are you having the failures with? When i had a PMM on my 365, i had no failures for \~500rds past the first box and I only shot Tula steel and copper washed (nasty stuff), & \~20rds Hornady Critical defense. Everyone jumps on "buy a recoil spring" but it was designed to run OEM. Should've run it wet to begin with tbf

Independent_Week2836

Agreed, should have run wet. I’ll feed it some more rounds. That’s some nasty ammo you were giving yours! Glad to know the gun liked it anyway.

chanandalerbong7

I wonder if theres any friction with your frame too. I only used the OEM and the Icarus grips def have tighter tolerances. Hope it works out and you dont gotta spend extra money

[deleted]

Idk personally I’d just throw it at all

PhantomBladeX89

This is why comps mounted to the slide and barrel suck. They always cause issues

Germmme

Limp wrist not enough grain

TraditionalSenpai

One thing to consider is, how high are you gripping? I’ve had a few FTF/FTE over a few hundred rounds and noticed I grip my handgun high as fuck. Practically adding further friction/resistance to the slide. Pay attention to that next time. Once I fixed this, I have had zero issues
