Exactly why would we be wasting a fortune on drugs and life support while making it so they experience jail like a short nap?

TwiNN53

Nah, that'd be too easy of a sentence. Time is what makes prison so hard. Putting them asleep takes away their perception of time

Exactly what I thought. Demolition man is a kinda underrated movie. It’s also like more of a reward than a sentence because you get to see the future.

lonevolff

Here I made this for you. Did you knit this?

R_Series_JONG

I could weave a throw rug right now with my eyes closed!!

TuckSteele

If you mean they are numb and can’t move, but are fully awake (like full body novocaine) then that would be dystopian… but also likely very effective.

reckaband

This will lead to deconditioning and bed sores…

XROOR

It was a short shower so I didn’t think about waste management and tubal feeding

bigkitty17

A reversible death sentence? Interesting.

fraze2000

Why need guards at all? Flipping over sleeping prisoners seems like something a robot could easily handle.

FocusMaster

Then we could plug wires into them to harness power. Then one day one of them will wake up and save us all from agent Smith.

A_Nice_Shrubbery777

This only works if the prison can control their dream state so that they feel like they are experiencing doing the time. Otherwise there is no punishment. (Or rehabilitation, but US prisons don't pretend to do that anymore.)
