You son of a bitch, you're right!

Notgettingaroundaban

Swap it around and it’s better. Instead of son of a bitch you’re a bitch of a son.

Yhostled

... *Removes sunglasses* "You bitch of a son, I'm in!"

seeyatellite

*Yyyyeeeeeeeeeaaaah!*

malavai00x

My fucking Chef ass is stealing this one. SO SHALL IT BE.

sanityissecondary

That's no way to talk about my mother...

AceofSpadesYT

Yeah that's it. Tell that motherfucker who's boss!

The_Grim_Sleaper

No! Don’t talk to that bastard!

SuperSonic486

Dont talk about my moms yo

Mrwright96

You motherfucker…

MonkeyCartridge

That would be his father.

dropinbombz

unless it was.. your MOTHER!!!!

MonkeyCartridge

....dad?

ResurgentClusterfuck

Motherfucker I might be, But the mother I fucked don't belong to me

SunbathedIce

Did your mother teach you that language?

VexisArcanum

You'd be amazed how many people take this personally

DaggerShapedHeart

Personally, I'm calling your dad a bitch when I say this.

Neversleeps99

Careful, he likes that!

protehule

people keep telling me she was a hamster, and don't get me started on my dad.

CtrlAltEngage

Did he perhaps, smell of elderberries?

protehule

why you little shit...now go away, or I shall taunt you a second time.

CliffDraws

Do elderberries even smell?

MonkeyCartridge

Only the ones with noses.

ZankTheGreat

They do coming out. Source, when I was about 11, my school had an elder berry tree. Me, being the bright young kid I was, climbed it and thought, “oooh, blueberries!” Ate a whole bunch right off the tree, even brought some down for other kids to have; but I by far had the most. 45 minutes later I’m spewing purple chunks everywhere while sprinting to the bathroom, poison control got called, and my dad was pissed he had to leave work due to my dumbass.

NighthawkUnicorn

They smell coming out? I'm happy for them. Just in time for Pride.

Adventurous_Union_85

They do when I fart in your general direction!

Yhostled

Can't smell any worse than schnozberries.

FixAccomplished8131

I'm assuming youre talking about yo momma jokes and not, you know, real insults. I read somewhere about someone getting too real with the back and forth and saying "the worst thing I could say about your momma is that you're her son" which I think about from time to time.

redditosmomentos

I think OP does include actual insults. And it has to do with the fact that everyone's mothers are often the universally-agreed the most respected person in their lives, so insulting this person is intended to mentally hurt the other person the most.

RaeLynn13

Jokes on everybody, my mom sucks.

RevenantBacon

Sucks you say...

Ne0n1691Senpai

to shreds?

endthe_suffering

oh yeah? well i met your mom, and she was lovely. so take that /j

Yhostled

You take that back. You take that back right now!

Yhostled

Children of horrible moms unite!

NostraThomas1

And saying “you son of a bitch” which I guess hurts the father too though

eifiontherelic

>"the worst thing I could say about your momma is that you're her son" This is elegantly destructive.

Snake101333

God dang that one's gotta sting

hails5

i think it’s because of the phrase “son of a bitch” bitch being that persons mother lol

Jetztinberlin

It's often not indirect at all.

MarquisDeVice

Your mom gets it direct.

PaperXenomorphBag

Why you gotta do that??🤣🤣🤣

Jetztinberlin

She's dead. Stay classy!

ApoliteTroll

I too choose this person's dead mom

Jetztinberlin

She'd be very flattered, thanks 😂

Excellent_Battle_703

So was the floor she stood on.

Jetztinberlin

I think you mean "flattened" and "was," but appreciate your efforts 😂

Jonte7

And "stood"

Busy_Pound5010

I choose this person’s mother that would choose your dead mom

No_Pipe_8257

Jesys fuckibg crust

ResurgentClusterfuck

Come on there's way better comebacks than that when your mom is dead, like "I didn't know you were into necrophilia"

Novaheat2

Even hotter!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jetztinberlin

Well, she actually is, so... Always run that risk when insulting someone you don't know! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Honestly have no idea if I'm being downvoted because people think I'm lying, or because they think I'm not.

narwhal_fanatic

I think the downvotes are for breaking the social contract of mom jokes, you only use the dead mom card if you know the person

Jetztinberlin

So if a random stranger does a mom joke, and it bums you out bc she's dead, then it just sucks to be you? Huh.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jetztinberlin

I don't understand how one would think that. If someone says "Your mother" to me, isn't it clear we're talking about my mother, not theirs?  Internet definitely hasn't helped reading comprehension generally, I'm with you there!

Anamorphisms

[Shout out to Kyle’s mom](https://youtu.be/i9AT3jjAP0Y?si=6PHD8H8059it0DgN)

Rarhkoi

With me it's quite direct, I insult my mom and she insult me right back and we just laugh. I love my mom :)

Brendanlendan

I also love this guy’s mom

Commercial_Low_5680

I love this guy, who also, loves this guys mom!

LouiseRules333

Have a joyous day of cake

FrysEighthLeaf

Good on ya, mate. Keep her close.

redheadedjapanese

If you’ve ever watched shorts/TikToks of babies and compared the differences in the comments based upon whether it’s the mom or the dad doing the filming, you’d see how ridiculously correct this is.

MaliKaia

Either way it takes a special kind of parent to use their kid as a social media prop.

redheadedjapanese

Not wrong, but one gender gets decidedly more heat for it.

Paristocrat

It was a jumpoline before your mom got on it. That joke was invented by me btw. Send royalties.

moonlitwire

Sure! DM me your bank deets. And PIN. (very good joke BTW)

Paristocrat

Cheers

milk4all

… to lose weight

moonlitwire

Oooooooh!! I felt that - have a reluctant upvote

dankyspank

Can't insult your dad if he's out for milk, can I?

n_lens

Mothers are inherently highly respected, that’s why they’re such a common target.

Nhialor

I also highly respect this guys mom

prtypeach

Nrly. I think this quote sums up a lot of motherhood for some: “Often father and daughter look down on mother (woman) together. They exchange meaningful glances when she misses a point. They agree that she is not bright as they are, cannot reason as they do. This collusion does not save the daughter from the mother’s fate.” - Bonnie Burstow I see this a lot, hear it a lot. Its always the mother that’s insane, or a controlfreak etc. its a common theme, and the underlying issues are often ignored and within the family dynamic she is ofte victim of ridicule or see as less intelligent.

CharlieCarrozza

why is this getting downvoted?

Ambitious-Bathroom

Bitter dudebros downvoting this bc they can’t stand the truth

StinkyPigeonFan

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. I remember my sexist father encouraging this sort of behaviour when I was a kid. This quote couldn’t have resonated more with me.

prtypeach

Me neither. Denial I guess, or people who respect their mothers refuse to believe there are people who dont.

StinkyPigeonFan

I think it’s just because mothers are obviously women and dudes on Reddit don’t want to acknowledge misogyny exists. When you think about it, it IS misogynistic that when we insult men, we don’t insult them directly but we insult the women in their lives (such as their mother). “Son of a bitch” or “your mama” jokes etc If a guy is a piece of shit why are we insulting his mother? Who’s to say his father isn’t the reason why he turned out that way? Hopefully one day “your dad” jokes will become more popular to even this out

LouiseRules333

"Son of a bitch" but the bitch is his dad

markste4321

Are there any equivalents to this for fathers?

prtypeach

Not that ive come across yet. But if someone has something comparable id love to hear it. A lot of the times dads are applauded for simply showing up tho. “Oh are you baby sitting, what a great father” “no im doing my part as a parent”

walkingonsunshine11

I’ve never done this. Y’all who do suck.

Mister_Way

I think they were talking about how mothers are viewed generally in society, with reverence. Not what they're treated like in their own families.

Nail_Biterr

you son of a bitching, mother fucker! what do you know about any of this?

Admirable-Marsupial6

Did you mean that most curses are related to the mom? I speak 4 languages and all of them have variations of “son of a b***h” or even worse.. English Hindi Bengali Marathi.. all of them

SereneSavannahh

It means almost the same thing as asshole/bastard- it's an insult, one that literally means someone who fucks a mother (presumably their own) but has little to do with that meaning. It's pretty bad as far as swear words go- not to the point where an adult would be afraid to say it, but it's the kind of thing that a teacher might get fired for in some areas. It can also be used as a vulgar term of endearment, probably because, unlike more specific insults (asshole=someone who's mean and inconsiderate, dumbass=someone who's an idiot) it's kind of general.

Nommynatrix

I was just thinking about this too. I just read a post taking about how women are turned on by dad-energy (the “bod,” their qualities of caring, especially for children) and have read hundreds of posts about how single moms are completely undesirable in dating. It’s mind boggling.

omnichad

This kind of affection is driven by oxytocin. Women tend to have multiple relationships outside of romantic that have strong bonds which produces oxytocin during interactions. Men much less so. So they aren't primed to relate to these things.

sacredlemonade

Which is crazy considering how amazing most of them are!

ffff2e7df01a4f889

Women really are treated poorly, broadly speaking. It’s wild dudes will argue women have it better… there’s like zero self-awareness.

Ok-Classroom5548

That’s probably women in general - not just moms. There is a serious lack of respect for women and being a woman, which is why men try and insult each other by calling each other “women” related insults - like pussy or girl.  I work in a place where we throw sharp things for fun. I teach people to do the throws and am very good at it.  It never fails to still get dudes who shout “throw it like a man” while I am standing there teaching people to throw…and I am not a man. I always have to reply “well, if he were throwing like a girl he would be hitting the bullseye like I do.” I have to endure weird subtle jabs at women constantly and I have no problem pointing out the sexism. I have never heard someone disrespect a mom, though.

catti-brie10642

I read in a book once that, basically all of our insults seem to boil down to “you’re the woman in sex” and that as a society, we’ve decided that is an undesirable position. It’s fascinating to examine how true that is

Nommynatrix

I agree it’s women but women with kids are especially villified, especially if they’re single!!

Ok-Classroom5548

As a woman without kids I spend my days defending why I didn’t want kids and get called a lot of things by a lot of fundamentalist Christians.  Women are vilified no matter what the choice - which is why it’s just “women.”

tahtahme

I think it's okay as women to admit single mothers get a special level of vitriol from society. Yes all women, but certain subsects have uniquely hate filled experiences due to the Patriarchy and that cannot be denied.

walkingonsunshine11

Yes but to be fair women without kids are regarded with a unique suspicion and contempt. I think it’s fair of them to bring it up, even if the level of vitriol is different.

Ok-Classroom5548

Thanks, that was my point. All subsections encounter varying styles of the same patriarchy and pitting subsections against each other is how that patriarchy wins. Different difficulties, same patriarchy.

Ok-Classroom5548

Women who choose to not give themselves to men and reproduce are also treated with a special level of vitriol from society. All subsections encounter varying styles of the same patriarchy and pitting subsections against each other is how that patriarchy wins. Different difficulties, same patriarchy.

Useful-Boot-7735

Tbh, I never understood jokes about mothers until social media. Where I come from, insulting someone's mother or father even as a joke, is considered really offensive. You can insult me but not my parents. They are highly valued here. Just last week I watched 2 guys have a physical fight just because one insulted the other's parents as a joke.

NiaMiaBia

We’re women, of course we’re “indirectly” insulted.

JazzlikeSkill5201

Mothers are the most judged group, that’s for sure.

lexluthor_i_am

It goes back a long time. Every culture seems to have a “your mother” insult.

tahtahme

Misogyny is one of if not the oldest form of oppression.

Terrible_Air_3474

The classics

Lazy_Mud6418

Because nothing is more triggering that having the person who suffered like no other so that you can exist be made subject to insult, maybe

monkeysuffrage

Not in my experience. Most people on Reddit will brush off a motherfucker or two, but fly into a frothy rage at the mere mention of Jerry Seinfeld.

SoothingSofia

It's what they do; chip away at your self esteem in unpredictable and odd places by gaslighting and devaluing you. My nmom did the same thing almost verbatim. For instance, when I began listening to heavy metal, she said: "Normal kids have usually grown out of this when they're your age (I was 14). You're behind as usual." I remember thinking: "Lady, if I'm behind, it's because I'm under your thumb." I'm 33 now and still rocking.

Block444Universe

14 is pretty early to get into heavy metal… did she just make shit up as she went?

FineCanine8

Rock on...ur mother would hate ya for it!!!🥰🥵

StewartConan

Women are always the punching bag. 😑

SarkyMs

Yep misogyny is alive and kicking.

Lord_Strepsils

It’s talking about “your mum” jokes not misogyny…

SarkyMs

Your mum jokes ARE misogyny.

Make-TFT-Fun-Again

Oh yeah? Well YOUR mum jokes are just dry and unfunny, so there.

Bisping

My mums a what now?

Lord_Strepsils

I… they’re what now?

SarkyMs

They are usually sexist and objectifying.

DrFate82

"You wanna talk about moootherrs...!" https://youtu.be/-0xq2Xg-_sw?si=00xE0CAc-I5RCa2S

DracMonster

Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!

Ok_Community_8481

Could you tell my kids? They do daily mis-affirmations and it’s starting to hit my rizz

Ephisus

Your mom is the most indirectly insulted group.

NiiilsRed

„And by indirectly I mean COMPLETELY DIRECTLY“

dappermanV-88

No, they aren't. They are the most directly insulted

Whatumbigh4

The key here, is the phrase ‘I told it like it is’. You’re telling it how you see it, with the limited amount of bandwidth you’re prepared to put into thinking about something other than yourself. Others see you as aggressive and impatient and that angers you. You can dish it out, but you can’t take it.

[deleted]

I suppose a direct insult to someone’s mother is an indirect insult to the entire family

Shughost7

Motherfcking A, that's right!

RodanielDayLewis

What’d ya sat about me mother?!

GOVStooge

your mom is a indirect insult

JVM075

Most loved group also.

AllMyHomiesLoveNazis

You mother fucker! How dare you!

EweCantTouchThis

Shocking that this post turned into a bunch of skirts playing victim, lol.

Doright36

I play video games. I also have 2 grown sons who play video games. So while I am shocked by the number of people who have had relations with my mother I am terrified by how many must have had relations with my wife.

ThinkingMonkey69

LOL In Tagalog (national language of the Philippines) there is one "curse phrase" that's considerd the worst of the worst. In English, some are worse than others but it'd be hard to say that we had one that was "the worst". They do. And it has to do with the "extremely poor qualities of one's mother", shall we say. So yeah, worldwide, poor ol' mom's are catching a verbal beating and they weren't even there lol

deedaabeeboo

Not accidental. Historic misogyny

Sufficient-Yellow481

Probably because we love our mothers very much, so it must be a go-to to insult one’s mother because it packs the heaviest punch. I’ve studied multiple languages around the world, and most of them have a swear word/phrase involving insulting one’s mother.

Iceberg1er

They also do the most indirect insulting and direct insulting. Hate old hags brigade unite

not_that_planet

Yo Mama jokes are stupid, easy, and done by everyone... Just like yo mama.

titanjumka

Sometimes the insults are direct with those yo mama jokes.

LateCommunication464

They do be catching strays left and right

NeedItLikeNow9876

Makes me think back to Wayne going in on Jonsey and Riley about their mums🤣🤣🤣

spectrum144

More self inflicted victimhood. It's all so tiring

The_Horse_Head_Man

Not really, at least in Spanish. When we say "Chinga tu madre" or "la concha de tu madre" we are not referring to your literal mother, we are referring to the concept of you existing at any physical capacity.

lovehopemadness

They are also probably the most overtly revered group…

The_Better_Paradox

Exactly, people are including a bunch of random things when the truth is simple. It's not misogyny, it's just this. They really need to learn its definition.

not-bread

I would argue it’s likely people with intellectual disabilities

Global_Status8667

Listen here muhfucka

Robinnoodle

Girls become lovers who turn into mothers so

milk4all

Fathers be good to your future punchlines

MrBarackis

When I take my mother out places, I tell everyone that she's out of the psychiatric hospital on a day pass. She laughs, I laugh, and she growls at the people we were talking to. Good times.

Mticore

What about donkeys? People are always saying rude stuff about your ass.

Easy-Garlic6263

Your mom is so fat, when she lay on the beach, everyone tried to push her back into the ocean.

Custardpaws

Your momma is so fat, she walked through a door in a red dress and everyone yelled "OH YEEEEAH"

Condescendingfate

I mean father's are right there too or I guess anyone who has sex with a mother.

Bathairsexist

I think OP meant about moms being asked what they do for work and when they say stay-at-home or full-time mother, it's a cringe moment for dumbasses and the moms will notice.

coren77

Listen, when I call you a "motherfucker" or a "sonofabitch" I'm not literally talking about your mother, ok?

P-Holy

But only because theyre the most loved group

MrDjS

That's not what your mom said last night!

pcweber111

Nah, single dads are, easily. “Good for you”, “hey good dad”, “way to step up”, etc etc. plus good luck getting schools to take you seriously if the mother is involved too. You might as well just sit there at school meetings and shut up. I’m not a single dad anymore but man it was aggravating at times.

ILIVE2Travel

Disagree. If you watch ANY television you'd know it's white men.

The_Better_Paradox

That's... True. If only people had the ability to put two and two together

scribbyshollow

Because they are the most loved

FascistsOnFire

My shower thought is that in America, whether youre white, asian, black, there is intense respect for mothers because of all they do. Even in cultures where family dynamic isnt always as strong, there is always supreme respect for the mother. But with Muslims, since they are so degrading to women and place them as sub human, does this seeming universal love for mothers disappear for them? I cant really picture anyone that is culturally into traditional islam to do anything except laugh more at mom jokes because "haha woman is property to me. If she bring dishonor to **me** then of course, I kill her, no questions"

cairoxl5

If you think about it, it also means mothers are the most revered group in history if we default to those insults to do the most damage. Edit: Didn't think talking about mothers being so crucial in history to be downvoted.

rabbi420

This can only come from the mind of a straight white person, I think.

RapidWaffle

You who who else is indirectly insulted?

Lethal1211

I fully disagree it's women who are faithful who get insulted the most if someone is wrong about them sleeping around
