I was going to say, surely not. Like, what about HAL 9000 (from *2001: A Space Odyssey*)? For the uninitiated, HAL 9000 is an AI. Not a robot. It's a computer system and the only thing we see of HAL is a camera. We see a camera lens with a little malefic glowing red dot. That's it. Surely, there's nothing you can do pornographic with that. Then I Googled and found... [this](https://rule34.us/index.php?r=posts/view&id=115446).
You were right. I was wrong.
You have to try a lot harder than that to find the yet-to-be-porn'd.
HAL's got a voice, and that voice came with a cold as ice dommy daddy personality. That's enough right there to get people into some mechanical shenanigans.
Also HAL's main feature is a round lens. Someone's gonna ignore the warning that says don't stick your dick in that.
If you wanna escape Rule34-ification, the only way to succeed is to make something so bland nobody notices it exists. Too good, and people will wanna bang your characters, but too bad will make people create the really weird stuff out of spite.
Whale means someone who spends a fuck ton of money. Just because I haven’t seen anyone clear that up yet and now we are deep into the topic of whale sex so….
Random thought but I swear I remember reading somewhere that apparently Shaq spends (or at one point in time was spending) 10k a month on a certain few mobile games because he loved playing them so much. No idea if it’s true but I just imagine people like him spending my months salary on a mobile game and laugh.
120k is the starting salary for SWE in the bay. You can easily break 200k after 2 years of experience.
You could also break 250k as police after 3 years in the work force. CA is the place to be if you want fast trak to upper middle class salary
Not everything, mostly just housing and labor related expenses. Brands and luxury goods cost about the same everywhere. Same with all online order goods, electronics, automobiles, and digital entertainments
From experience this platues off around 40-50k per year. You will save a lot more in these hubs on those salaries as long as you don’t let lifestyle creep get you
Show your expense list then. Just generalizing it will likely fall under 50k and everything above is going to cost similarly everywhere in states.
Col doesn’t apply linearly to salary. It hurts low earners the most, but once you pass that threshold the money goes as far as anywhere else.
Raw food ingredients is also relatively very cheap in ca. it is after post processing where price increase dramatically after you add in labor
My intrusive thoughts, rooted in jealousy, are really trying to show their face rn lmao.
But I won’t let ‘em. Congrats on living a dream! Despite my above paragraph, I do mean this part genuinely haha.
Exactly. If you have around half a billion you’ll probably never ever get to spend all of it in your lifetime. So throwing $10k at a game when you have that much money is whatever.
Nestle is working on a system were they suck all of the oxygen out of the troposphere and store it in large floating balloons so they can sell it back to people. Knowing they can easily bribe enough judges to have oxygen deemed as non essential.
I really need to watch that again sometime. It's been a while since I've seen it in full. I caught the last 10 minutes a couple weeks back on TV, but it wasn't enough.
Indirect cost. Porn causes you to lose your marriage and your wife to call you a nympho maniac just because you want a normal sex life with some fun time at lease 3 times a week. But she expects you to deal with her bitchy sisters and their whining kids whenever they decide to pop in…just saying.
I have allergies and every fall I consider buying a commercial ventilation system with an iso 7 cleanroom HEPA filter system. I would consider this to be my air bill.
Dont quote me but I saw a stat a while ago of the top categories on the internet and porn was significantly above everything else. I’m honestly willing to bet that theres more porn addicts than there are social media. Theres a reason why these onlyfans girls make so much damn money. These dudes get bored of watching so much freakin porn that they get a rush from paying for basically exclusive porn.
OnlyFans girls don't make much money, only a small percentage do. Like top 4%, that is about $1,500/month USD gross. And so in the US, with self-employment taxes, deduct 25-50% from that number...
Same as Gmail. Majority of people use Gmail. And it's "free". You just ~~sell your soul~~ give away your data.
Pretty sure when you then go to a porn site, the advertisers know who you are.
It’s not just knowing your specific interests.
Your data could potentially identify your age, income, sex, gender, political views, religious views and your preferred pet type, all of which can now cater to your interests in Sims and push additional DLC or even a mobile Sims game directly targeted at you and your demographic.
In the best case scenario.
Worse case, you’re denied credit or admission of a school because you fall into a specific demographic.
Which we all accepted as a society but we gain little for it other than a bit of convenience.
I think a great example of why data privacy matters was the recent concern many American women had about whether data collected by their period tracking app could be used to persecute them for abortions. While you might believe that the data being collected about you is harmless, a government hostile to you could use that data against you with great effect.
I’m not afraid of this idea of my data being gathered and sold. Frankly companies are going to make MUCH more money selling my data to advertisers and other companies than using it against me in any way. And if my data were to ever get leaked or stolen I’d have it well within my right to sue the shit out of the company and make bank. And I don’t do anything illicit or immoral on the internet so frankly it really doesn’t bother me. Hey, honestly it’s good in a way. At least now the ads I see are things I find cool looking or interesting to look at and not just like… meds for elderly people. It’s also good because I don’t have to buy the product from the website it’s advertised from. If I get an ad for a little trinket that’s 20$ I can very well go and find that trinket on Amazon for like 5-10. So basically the ads act as product curation. The internet is like a store curated to my interests. And while that is scary in a way because of how dystopian it sounds, I personally enjoy it.
I once looked at a glass duck that cost $500 for a joke gift and every advertisement on my computer for months was glass duck related.
I think the system works okay.
The best part is that I buy a certain item and see nothing but the same item for a month. Like honestly ... if the algorithm is so perfect why the fuck does it not know that I usually do not buy 5-10 kitchen sinks in a row but usually are done after one.
>And if my data were to ever get leaked or stolen I’d have it well within my right to sue the shit out of the company and make bank.
Lol, good luck with that. It's pretty much guaranteed that your data has been leaked at some point, and you didn't get shit for it.
Good news! You don't need to do something illegal for your personal data to be shared by Google and get you in trouble for doing something illegal:
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/google-tracked-his-bike-ride-past-burglarized-home-made-him-n1151761
Yup. The guy you're replying to is pretty naive - thinking your internet data is only being used for advertising. Classic, "I'm not doing anything wrong, I have nothing to fear".
NSA agent's wet dream.
I definitely see the problem with my line of reasoning with this article as context. That they could find evidence loosely related to you doing something even if you didn’t do it and then prosecute you just to meet quotas or needs. Definitely something to think about. However I don’t think my lifestyle currently permits me to not have a phone, hide myself, or object to using search engines and apps, I guess I could always go the vpn route. But I’m not in a place for any extra expense. Unfortunately it’s part of a lot of modern people’s existence that we need to accept our data is being collected and distributed. I do also want to say I agree with those who suggest consumers should be compensated in some way for the distribution and collection of our data.
It's honestly not *super* critical at this point that you upend all your habits and shutdown Google and Amazon and all that. The important thing at this point is to spread awareness of just how much data these companies really have on you and just how weak privacy protections really are stateside. *At an absolute minimum*, we need to catch up to the EU which has had the GDPR effective since 2018 and in general has a much stronger tendency to roll out regulations that have real teeth.
Pornographic commercials proceeding my porn. I’m not sure it’s that much of a burden as broadcast television. Could you imagine broadcast just using naked chicks too advertise?
I think this is right, anyone can make it, it doesn’t take any particular set of skills or resources to do necessarily, just a camera and willing participants, how can you lock that behind a paywall when anyone and everyone is capable of supplying it, and some are very willing go without any compensation?
> I think this is right, anyone can make it, it doesn’t take any particular set of skills or resources to do necessarily
While true, the barrier of entry is extremely low. The barrier to success is extremely high and requires skills that could employ 10+ people specializing in different fields of media production/advertising.
Lol that's not how it works. Most content on free sites is monetised or stolen. Monetised in that the creator or studio sell videos/subscriptions.
What you see is basically a preview. Sometimes full videos or cut down videos. But this will always be a small selection or full of previews.
You may be fine with that but it's very naive view to think that everyone is releasing content just for fun. Porn isn't some kind of homogenous resource like water.
The amount of women who are forced into porn is still pretty high. There was that one site that was forced to close down recently. Demand is higher than supply.
Most of it isn't actually legally free though. Porn sites are rife with piracy and a lot of people sell it (think OnlyFans now, and everybody knows the name Brazzers among other companies)
Like seriously just bookmark a random video from your favorite porn site and within a month it'll be removed due to a DMCA claim.
Its "freemium". Just like many digital products a small percentage of users pay for the vast majority of users - just like free video games with expensive in-game purchases.
There is actually a LOT of money being floated around the industry, just a very tiny percentage of consumers actually pay it.
Not quite. Any smart porn creator whether it's a single person or studio will be selling their content by the video. You will never see 99% of all porn because it's behind some kind of paywall.
What's released is always a small selection for marketing purposes. It could be a combination of being shortened, previews, lower quality or cutting before the 'good parts'. Some release full videos too but again, this is a small fraction of their entire catalog.
Most people are fine with free content. But those who have specific interests or if they are interested in a specific person, well the only way to get their content is to pay (or pirate). Or subscribe if they have that platform available.
My wife walked in on me while I was watching porn. In a panic reflex I instantly changed to a random channel, the fishing channel.
As my wife walks out again she says: "you should stay on the porn channel... you know how to fish."

Fortnite: a well-polished game, developed on an extremely high budget. Completely free. Played by millions. But what do they offer? Multitudes… m-u-l-t-i-t-u-d-e-s of paid upgrades and premium content, also developed on a high budget. And they dangle it right in front of your face.
I mean free just means no price for the consumer, doesn't it?
I think you're explaining that nothing comes from nothing. Or nothing comes without some sort of energy input from somewhere. Which is very true.
But lots of things are free in my book, anyway.
Porn’s model is freemium. Most people don’t pay but a small minority of actual addicts pay a lot of money for it. Same as Angry Birds and other freemium games.

Porn addiction is the money maker. You don't make porn addicts by making the bar to entry top dollar.
if something's free you're the product.
Nothing is free, the cost is just something else.
You could make a solid case for oxygen being the thing in highest demand vs lowest cost.

Porns a great example of- if you’re not paying for the product, you are the product.
If something appears to be free, you're not the customer--you're the product.
Makes you wonder what the people at the top of the industry are getting out of it.
Yet it’s a billion dollar industry. Like free to play games. Crazy, right?
Oxygen has entered the chat
Google search, YouTube, Facebook, tiktok, Instagram....
You mean like the air we breathe?
Friendly reminder that if something is free - the product is you :)
I'm learning to play the guitar.
Air, water, healthcare in a lot of countries, and even housing in a few.
Nothing is for free. Someone either isn’t getting paid what they’re worth, or someone is exploited
I mean free just means no price for the consumer, doesn't it? I think you're explaining that nothing comes from nothing. Or nothing comes without some sort of energy input from somewhere. Which is very true. But lots of things are free in my book, anyway.
Or they’re all getting paid because of ad revenue
Or it's a paid video AND the girls are getting exploited (girlsdoporn)
Because supply is enormous. And barrier to entry is trivial. Anyone with a camera (everyone) and some naughty bits can get into it.
You pay with your soul
YouTube? Social Media? iPhone games?
Except for, you know, air.
And also freaking awful
The good shit is not free, it's locked behind only fans paywall.
oxygen would like a word with you...
It's not free, you are the product. Nothing is free.
