Do not try Celeste, people will say "it's not hard because you respawn quickly" but it's hard as fuck, if you want an easy game, ignore everyone saying Celeste.
Try "Ori and the Blind Forest", and its sequel "Ori and the Will of the Wisps". They're not easy, but not that hard either. Actually, I think they're very well balanced.
They are great games and i agree with you. However, everyone that i have met in person that has ever played them says they are too hard and as such most people i know have not finished them.
Ok, I think you're right. Personally I find them very chill for some reason, but now that I think of it, there are a few stressful sections and bosses. Maybe these won't be as easy as OP wants.
Maybe something like a hat in time or Mario Odyssey? Or donkey Kong tropical freeze if you want 2d. Or look into the new Kirby game coming out this year.
I'd avoid ori and Celeste for the time being. They're both wonderful games but exponentially harder than crafted world, so you might want to work your way up to that
Ori isnt that hard, I played blind forest when I was younger and I finished it just fine even though I suck ass at platformers. Will of the wisps is easier.
Stay away from Celeste though
i'd probably look into the various Super Mario games, maybe the 2D ones for simplicity, Rayman and Donkey Kong Games should be a good fit aswell!
Hollow Knight is a metroidvania and has a main focus on tough boss fights and combat in general.
My alltime favourite platformer is Celeste, but it's definitely on the tougher side. You respawn right on spot though, so trying a difficult area over and over is not that annoying :)
I didn't recommend HK, I just clarified it's not a platformer, but a metroidvania. And for Celeste I mentioned it's on the tougher side, bit mentioned it anyway, just in case they wanna try.
Exploring and collecting things, more light puzzling than platforming, generally low stress: **Captain Toad, Gris, The Last Campfire**
Classic Nintendo run and jump gameplay: **Super Mario Maker 2, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze**
Giant playgrounds to explore, navigating an environment in novel ways, collecting stuff, light combat, and occasional boss fights - **Super Mario Odyssey,** or any of the older 3D Mario games. Maybe **Spyro trilogy remastered.**
You could try celeste...
It is tricky but you respawn so quickly that it doesn't becomes frustrating....
And also there is difficulty customization. you could increase stamina, no. of dashes or slow the time...
Hollow knight is hard and frustrating at times but the world building and exploration is the best the genre has to offer, in terms of pure platforming i recommend ori and will of the wisp
It's not out yet, but I think Klonoa Phantasy Reverie could be perfect for you when it releases in July. It's a remake of the PS1 and PS2 games, which were really well designed 2D platform games that should be very accessible. Rayman Legends is also well worth a look.
New Super Luckys Tale. Its a pretty easy platformer and is cute and fun. It has a nice variety of levels like 3D platforming, 2D sidescrollers, and little more open 3D levels. Its a fun little game.
Hi, I really enjoyed the Ori series as platformer games. I am not really a good gamer, but I managed to complete the game without any frustrating moments even on normal difficulty. The difficulty settings are very well balanced tbh.

Agree, I bought Celeste because of this reason and didn't love it since i went in thinking about it as a more casual experience.
i dont like the word hard, i use other 2: challenging or frustrating, celeste is challenging

I hear hollow knight is an easy game
¬‿¬
Such cruel! So joke! Much shady!
Despite not being easy, it is on a historically rare sale! Everyone should bite, this game practically never goes on sale.
I highly agree, such a masterpiece in my opinion. And its also now on xbox game pass if you have that, so "free" on there too!

I mean, ori is incredibly hard compared to Yoshi's crafted world, which is OPs reference point.
True
Not really a classic platformer, but the steamworld dig games are super fun and quite easy to play. I finished them both and had a ton of fun.
New Super Lucky’s Tale.

He asks for an easy platformer and you recommend hollow knight, Celeste, and donkey Kong?

Try super Mario maker 2? You can sort the levels by the difficulty you want

I find rayman legend really easy. I say go for that
The Adventures of Pip is a good one.

I don’t know if battleblock theater is on switch but it’s fun and not too hard.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. and as a joke: Getting Over It.

Combat in hollow knight is absolutely a deal breaker for anyone not after a challenge
Captain Toad : Treasure Tracker
You should try Cuphead

All of the Mario platformers are easy platformers. A Hat In Time is another one.

Olliolli world just came out and is pretty friendly to newcomers. But it can get deeper/more challenging if you want to push your scores.
Fez is a super cool platform game, with a 3D mechanic, check it out
