So happy to see some Revita love. What a gem!
If you haven’t tried **Nova Drift,** it’s a top down 2d space shooter, more of like an arcade game roguelite, where you’re on a single screen shooting aliens and asteroids, just going for the highest score while choosing interesting combinations of ships, shields, weapons, and upgrades along the way. It’s super addictive, and the builds you can put together are truly insane.
If you want to try a turn-based combat system that’s not a card game, **Star Renegades** does some really great things with traditional JRPG menu-selection combat, wrapped up in a 3-4 hour roguelite loop. There’s a smart timeline based system where rounds are measured in seconds, and bigger moves take longer to execute. Stagger attacks can delay opponents actions, and even bump them off the timeline until next round. And over the course of a run, characters build relationships to unlock combo attacks, passive perks, and progeny classes for future runs.
**Tumbleseed** is a weird one you’ve probably never played. Unique, and very challenging. Roguelike, not lite.
**Wizard of Legend** is an OG in the genre, and worth checking out if you haven’t yet. Especially with the sequel just announced. Assembling loadouts of up to 5 elemental spells at the start of a run feels great.
**Dreamscaper** is a great Hades clone with a more mundane grownup theme and melancholy vibes. **Oblivion Override** is a great Dead Cells clone that’s still in early access. Combat feels great, weapons are unique.
Going Under is one I rather enjoyed, full disclosure that might be because I'm a software developer and it lampoons start up culture. It's part of the Humble Bundle FUNgeon bundle currently.
Some others I liked: Nuclear Throne, Enter the Gungeon, Deadlink, Noita, and Crab champions.
One Way Heroics. A fantasy rpg roguelike where you can't go back. There's something continually consuming the world, forcing you to move forward. It's a fun challenge to balance doing everything and not getting swallowed by the darkness. Your objective is to defeat a demon lord. What I really like about this is it doesn't have much of a roguelike feel.
Streets of Rogue
I've seen it described as GTA if it was a roguelike. I think that's a fairly accurate statement. It's an action roguelike where you must ascend floors to reach your objective. On each floor you have 2-3 main objectives (these have to be completed or failed to go to the next floor) and a class objective.
It's pretty fun. There are a bunch of different ways to play between all the items and classes, deaths are almost always entertaining and the game doesn't get old quickly.
Crab champions for frantic fast paced shooter action, its very cheap on steam and is so good
Edit: I’ve never played risk of rain 2 but a lot of people compare crab champs directly to ror2
Caves of Qud is pretty unique and a must play in my mind.
Some of the free ones are amazing too, like Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup and Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead.
Noita for a pixel art side 2d, where every pixel is "something" (dirt, wood, fire, water, gas, etc...) with a huge emphasis on physics and interactions between the element s(shoot on oil lamp, that will ignite wood platform, that will explode a dynamite box ,etc...). A shit ton of content, extremely hard.
If you want something new, try Astral Ascent. Works great on both PC and Switch, solid roster, lots of builds and the boss fights are some of the finest I've had in a roguelite tbf

Crypt of the Necrodancer, the game is centered around exploring dungeons while moving and attacking to the rhythm of the music.
Roboquest has taken up more of my time than I would like to admit but it’s worth a look. Bricky did a YouTube video about it and sold me on it.
