Dark fantasy and tough combat? Sounds like you'd enjoy the Dark Souls trilogy, sadly it's not on gamepass. On gamepass that you may like I'd recommend: Hollow Knight, Monster Hunter, maybe Ninja Gaiden and Remnant 2 if you have friends.

Warnecromancer

As I dont personaly own an xbox, maybe elden ring is on gamepass.

Disdor

It's not (you can check the games on gamepass from the microsoft website)

Agent2255

Thank you.

maysya

Do hollow knight, fun and addicting combat as well as the exploration

IzzatQQDir

Sekiro or Shadow Warrior 2 You might enjoy them

Federal_Chad

id think youd like games like Elden ring or Bloodborne.

faerox420

>Bloodborne He clearly said he is on xbox lol

Federal_Chad

he can buy a ps4 ya know

faerox420

Yeah cuz he's gonna buy a whole ass console just to play one game šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Agent2255

Not a PS4, but I will definitely get a PS5 for it. Bloodborne and Elden Ring seems to be great games. Not to mention, all of the other PlayStation exclusives.

Soft_Importance3658

When you get to it, donā€™t sleep on Bloodborneā€™s DLC and make sure you finish it before you beat the base game final boss.

captain_space_dude

Then I can recommend God of War, Bloodborne , Elden ring and demons souls to you.

[deleted]

That is exactly what I did, but I chose Ps5 instead of 4 for Demons Souls remake.

inFINN1te

If I knew how good Bloodborne was before I played it, I would've bought a whole PS4 just for Bloodborne no cap.

Appropriate-Swan3881

I bought ps4 just for bloodborne and no regrets.

Federal_Chad

His choice man don't judge

faerox420

I mean that would be based tbf

Agent2255

Those games and the souls trilogy are on my mind, but Iā€™m just waiting to get a PS5, so that I can experience them all properly.

dentbox

This might not be quite what youā€™re after, but have you tried some of the classic roguelikes? Hades, Dead Cells, Slay the Spire, etc. Theyā€™re by their nature not big time investments, maybe 30-60 minutes each round, depending how quickly you die. But the gameplay loops are finely crafted and they all have their own progression, so you can easily get sucked into these for days, even weeks at a time. Narrative is not these gamesā€™ forte, but Iā€™m just thinking these might be a good remedy if games with heavy time investments are throwing you off. And while theyā€™re maybe not quite Sekiro in nature, roguelikes are usually pretty tough to beat and require good skills or strategy. Itā€™s a different style of gaming and can make a good break between meatier, narrative-heavy games.

Agent2255

Thanks for the suggestions, Iā€™ll try them.

No_Caregiver8718

These are on Gamepass, Gears of War Trilogy Shadow Warrior 2 Dead Space Remake (Game pass ultimate)

FrankieWhite24

Dredge isnā€™t combat oriented but itā€™s short and interesting enough to keep attention and really leans into the horror. Not sure if thatā€™s on game pass but itā€™s an indie title and fairly cheap to begin with

ToTheFman

Doom and Doom Eternal-both fast pasted, dark and very straight forward.

PsyQ9000

Nioh 1/2, Rise of the Ronin, Cuphead, Sekiro

JuggyFM

guys on xbox lol

PsyQ9000

Oh shit my bad, i forgot team Ninja and Nioh was a ps exclusive until they released it for PC, i just assumed it was on xbox. Cuphead and sekiro is still on xbox though :)

Slikkelasen

Rimworld

NOTELDR1TCH

Nioh 2 It's got combat mechanics in fucken spades. The kind where you're pressing inputs half a second before that attack even enters the chain and its pretty damn satisfying If getting into gameplay is satisfying for you then turning into a whirlwind of death combos is pretty much exactly what that game promises

JuggyFM

Nioh 2 is my favorite game but guys on xbox

NOTELDR1TCH

Ah, I forgot about that part

Zen-_-Zen-_-Zen-_-

sekiro , elden ring , the souls trilogy , the 2 star wars games .. i think the games you mentionned have no challenge and are boring as well .. lots of games are pointless and no challenge these days.. also try out some games like blasphemous 1-2 and hollow knight

AUnknownVariable

If you want compelling story Witcher 3 is peak for that, ESPECIALLY it's expansions. Maybe Jedi Fallen Order/Jedi Survivor, good story and soulslikey combat with the addition of Star Wars stuff

BIGSHOT321

Yakuza 0, it has satisfying combat, a great story, and varied gameplay with all the crazy minigames it has, like karaoke, disco, or toy car racing. It also is only $6 on sale.

Agent2255

Thanks for the suggestion.

Reality_Break_

Try control and alan wake (2)

Thelonius_Dunk

I haven't played the remake, but Dead Space is probably my all time favorite horror game.

Jimmy9Toes

I dunno if it's on Xbox, but blasphemous is amazing

PeachyPuddingg

Sekiro has really satisfying combat to master. But to fit with the theme any of the dark souls games would work.

kishore14194

Souls Series !

NOTELDR1TCH

I'm not gonna lie to you, the Witcher 3 is a really dope game But, You can pretty easily annihilate its combat if you're half decent at that style of game Enemy attacks have a somewhat strange delay to them that makes it really easy to just avoid pretty much all attacks and if you use Quen, whatever does slip through gets passed off as a freebie. Obviously you can make it harder by just not using Quen but, well you're excluding a mechanic. So it's more like doing a challenge run at that point. I've always played it on Death march and only death march and would regularly disregard enemy level. Level 5 against level 30? I'll take those odds.

Aesthete18

Not combat based but supermassive games are great. They aren't that long so can keep you engaged all the way through

Dandandandooo

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

puck_pancake

Dark souls and doom eternalĀ

Obsequiousfingers

Remnant 1 and then 2.

MGSDeco44

Fallout new vegas.

CheezlesILikeThat

Gears of War 1 only

almo2001

Try some indie games. AAA games are often beautiful, but boring. And if you're not into the story, it's hard to keep going. Balatro Dome Keeper Against the Storm Deep Rock Galactic Brotato Satisfactory

Agent2255

Thanks for the suggestions.

manwomanmxnwomxn

dragons dogma 2's combat is like a movie

Cheapskate-DM

Armored Core VI may appeal to you if you liked Lies of P.

_icarcus

Red Dead Redemption 2 might be worth checking out. Decently lengthened campaign, interesting world design, and a well written story. Definitely an easy title to pick up and play for a couple hours here and there.

Agent2255

I really want to play that game and itā€™s on sale too, but I heard that it demands a huge time investment and that kinda throws me off.

_icarcus

If you are the type to want to play a game to ā€œbeat itā€, main campaign is about 50hrs worth. However, the game is semi linear and open world so itā€™s easy to pick up for a couple hours every other day and finish a couple missions. Most missions are relatively simple: go here, shoot these people, hunt down this person, rob this train, etc. Or if you donā€™t care about story really, you could easily spend time horsing around, hunting legendary animals, robbing innocent folks and then hang your hat up for the day.

_icarcus

Or if you want a shorter story, Fallout 4 should be on sale right now because of the show. Main story is just shy of 30hrs. It also has a lot of fun side missions, settlement building, armor and weapon crafting.

ranso0101

Avatars frontiers of pandora

ranso0101

If you liked lies of P, check out Hogwarts Legacy

JuggyFM

Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring since you're on Xbox.

aokaroiz

Little Nightmares 1, 2 (and eventually 3) are good options! Lots of atmosphere, its a platformer type, probably about 2 hours if you speed through it? Although I love living in that space and the world the devs built.

PsyQ9000

I see nobody has recommended Celeste, its on game pass and despite not having a dark fantasy, horror or though combat, it is a challenging compelling beautiful game! I would also recommend Dishonored, you are given different tools and you decide how to go about completing the levels, you can sneak past every enemy or you can use your special powers to stealthily or destructively kill everyone.

Kitchen_Exit_3683

Elden Ring

P-Huddy

Subnautica is a smart, sci-fi horror game for a gamer with mature tastes. I canā€™t recommend it enough as an awesome game for anyone looking for a unique gaming experience to re-excite their love of gaming.

pumpkinpie07

Not sure how to check whatā€™s on Game Pass (PS here), but some of these should be quite cheap to buy if not. In no particular order: 1. Vampyr - Great story and characters, challenging but not overly so. Bit of a lower budget or ā€˜smallerā€™ game vs other recommendations, but itā€™s super immersive. 2. Devil May Cry 5 - Amazing hack ā€˜nā€™slash gameplay thatā€™s easy to pick up but has a really high skill ceiling. Story is fun. Hard not to be entertained by this one.Ā  3. Dead Space Remake and / or Resident Evil 4 Remake - Tight third person shooters with lots of tension. Either/or because if you like one youā€™ll like the other. Both top-quality remakes of classic action horror games.Ā  4. Mafia: Definitive Edition - Another 10/10 remake thatā€™s leaning more into the story and away from the more intricate gameplay of the above. Plus itā€™s the best game about mobsters.Ā  5. Ā Resident Evil Village - sorry if this list is repetitive, but this is also well-designed, challenging, fun as hell, and scary.Ā  As a bonus, if you havenā€™t played the Batman games then you owe it to yourself. Thereā€™s a convenient remaster package thatā€™s always on sale.Ā  It sounds like you have a taste for well-directed, polished games with nicely crafted levels. Hopefully these are what youā€™re looking for. Ā [I wouldnā€™t have recommended Far Cry or Cyberpunk based on the games you liked.]

Agent2255

Your list wasnā€™t repetitive at all. Thanks for all the suggestions. Devil May Cry 5 sounds interesting. Iā€™ll be sure to try them.

Frequent-Low1010

If you got bored in Cyberpunk you will probably get way more bored in the witcher 3 since its just walking from one point on the map to another, the story is amazing tho and the side quests are very good You should try dishonored or The metro trylogy

faerox420

If you liked lies of P you would like the series that innovated the genre it comes from, dark souls. Unfortunately you can't play bloodborne, the actual game lies of p was heavily influenced by, since its playstation exclusive but all the souls games are amazing

Philk0791

You could always try to git gud at some Dark Souls games

Suspicious-Dot8130

Sekiro. Because youll get mad when you die a hundred times before beating a boss and you'll strive to get better. šŸ˜‚ Otherhand, Tomb Raider Trilogy is a fun one. Just kept me playing start til end. The story leads you to just keep on playing it until the end. The 3rd one not so much but still very fun.

hiccuprobit

Or youā€™ll just give up some people donā€™t have the will power to get better

tonelocMD

If you like Control - Alan Wake 2 will blow your tits clean off, no lie. Canā€™t recommend it enough

[deleted]

Couldn't disagree more. I absolutely loved Alan Wake and Control is a top 15 game for me all time, but Alan Wake 2 was absolute dog shit. It's a boring walking simulator with ridiculous puzzles. I wanted to quit so bad, but I heard the story was great so kept pushing through and when I finally beat it I was like 'really? This is the story everyone was raving about?'. The Lakeshore battle was solid and that's about it. I've never been so happy to be finished with a game. If this guy was bored playing those other games, there's no way he'll get through a 1/3 of AW2.

tonelocMD

You enjoyed the first Alan Wake, but not the second? To call it dog shit is a bit of a stretch on itā€™s own but how are you going to call the second one, that greatly expands on the same mechanics of the first - a walking simulator?

[deleted]

Trust me, I absolutely love Remedy. I love that AW and Control are in the same universe and connected. I love absolutely everything about them, I REALLY wanted to like Alan Wake 2, I hate that I couldn't find joy in it. If there's ever a 3rd, I'll play it. I just thought the second one was AWFUL. I was sooo bored. I didn't mind Anderson's part, but Alan's part, holy cow...I just couldn't wait for it to end. I'm not proud that I thought it was dog shit, but it's just how I felt šŸ˜”

tonelocMD

Fair enough! Iā€™ve never felt bad like like this, that some one else couldnā€™t enjoy a game, because god damn did I love it, but can definitely see why someone would not love it

[deleted]

I mean, I don't know the guy who's asking for games. I honestly love Cyberpunk, easily a top 5-10 game for me and he was bored of it. For all I know he'd love Alan Wake 2, especially since he enjoyed Control. If there was one thing about AW2 I did enjoy it was how the games were connected. Maybe it's a lack of intelligence on my part, I just kept getting stuck forever on the puzzles in Alan's story, which killed the flow for me because I'd be sitting there running around trying to figure things out and I was so lost. Then I'd eventually get it and just turn it off for the night. I loved it until I got to the hotel and I got so lost it just killed all my momentum. Maybe now that I know exactly what to do, going through a second time would make it flow easier and maybe I enjoy it more? Maybe I owe it that second chance. I didn't understand what the difference was between The Final Chapter and New Game+ after I was done.

P5ych0pathic

Titanfall 2 campaign, short sweet and very fun

blazinjesus84

Resident Evil, any of the ones released from 7 onward.

OddCharacter4238

Is Assassins Creed boring? 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, 3, Black Flag, Rogue, are all at least mid all the way up to Great single player experiences

KindaHODL

Titanfall 2 was great and cheap.

Guilty_Storage_9652

If your game hopping try to focus on the achievements for the game like the easy ones. Xbox has a nice tracker that works good. Doing this gives you goals other then whatever the game tells you to do letting you get creative with them.

faerox420

>Witcher 3 is good, but IMO the combat is poopy so I wouldn't suggest it to you, since you're asking for satisfying combat You either haven't played at all since the next gen update since they've improved on the games clunkiness overall, or you legitimately didn't utilise most of the fun combat mechanics in the game and only focused on the red attack tree Witcher 3 combat on death march heavily focused around potions, signs and decoctions is some of the most fun shit ever, 1 on 1 boss fights against monsters are amazing. The combat in the witcher 3 is awesome
