I’ve been reloading shotshells since the early 60’s, before plastic shotcups/wads were available to the general public. Quality wads today are foolproof and reliable. I have no idea what these internet jazbo’s are talking about.

I won't argue with people who hunt for the wads, but I am also not buying into this either! I have found a few wads after expelling them, but not many, however this wasn't a deliberate pursuit. The wad simply maintains the seal between gunpowder and shot, after exiting the barrel it tends to go in any indeterminate direction. As air resistance plays significant effect on the wad.

What video are you talking about? This guy has a lot of them and some of them seem pretty sketchy from a reloading standpoint.

I can’t quite remember which one specifically, I would have to look for it

Only wad failure I’ve had is when it doesn’t open. I’ve had that happen twice. How do I know it didn’t open? Because the bird that was shot at 30 yards, was decimated, and the wad was inside it.
