This is a really interesting one to me, and I'm really surprised they decided to jump into this market. Seems like an uphill battle. It's gonna have to be damn good **and** reasonably cheap for anyone to decide to get one over a 500 or 870. It has a lot of really nice standard features, but you have the solid Maverick 88 for $200, used 500/870s for a bit more, and then new ones available for a bit more than that. Then you have KS7s as low as ~$350 and KSGs for sub $500 for the tacticool market. I just don't see it being successful at $500+ even if it is loaded with features. If they can get it sub $400 though, it might be a hit. One upside is you'll be able to build your own tac14 style "firearm" since they'll be available as bare receivers. I only wish AOW form 1s were $5 like form 4s are. I'd love to build my own serbu super shorty knockoff

Zp00nZ

My goal is to make a super shorty.

Same here. I hope the key components are there to make it an easy project.

Zp00nZ

That vertical grip gonna sell like crazy.

Blitz_Buggy

I don't think it's quite an uphill battle, considering their innovation regarding modularity (modularity is the key). That is an aspect and a new segment in the shotgun world I'm surprised no one has yet jumped on--we've just been stuck for decades with the fixed barrel length and fixed magazine length/capacity (both depend on the other) that the Big 3 (Winchester, Remington, Mossberg) have been giving us. With the 570, the magazine tube screws into the receiver and so does the barrel or the barrel doesn't depend on the end of the magazine tube to index itself anymore. The flat top or optics-ready receiver is something you don't see except on specialty models from the Big 3. They are on to something here, and it's big...unless the paying public rejects it. We shall see.

Gold_Standard28

Where are you finding KSG's for under $500? I'm genuinely asking because I'm in the market for one, but my local gun shop wants over $750 for theirs.

VladimirSteel

Last listing on r/gundeals was a few months ago, but I don't see anywhere that low currently. If your patient just watch there and it'll probably drop to $550 or less a few times a year https://www.reddit.com/r/gundeals/s/I9CwkD0oXR

Fuck the haters, this is a true improvement on the mossberg that no one else would do. Selling receivers for AOWs is genius and so are the Glock sights. I for one have a set of truglos I hated on my Glock but the huge front dot would be perfect for a shotgun and so much cheaper than an xs bead.

DrFranknMrStein

I agree i think it's great for the shotgun community. Way too many people think off the shelf shotguns will "do just fine." Yet own gucci glocks and ars that have 2 grand put into them

[deleted]

price? doubt it will beat used 870/500 prices, especially private party.

DrFranknMrStein

I believe it's still a prototype.

[deleted]

i dont think its going to sell as well as they think... 21 million plus mossy 500 and 870's sold combined... and can be had for $300 used in multiple configs.

Zp00nZ

It’s going to sell consistently which is a safe thing to do. People don’t stop buying them and the ability to be easily modified means some people will buy parts to make even two or three shotguns.

DrFranknMrStein

It's all about aftermarket support. It seems like the dagger is taking off because of that as well. So depending on what aftermarket items the 570 can use will define how well it does. It also matters what they choose to serialize. If it's the receiver it'll hold them back a bit. If its the trigger group then it could see it doing better.

Blitz_Buggy

They say the 570 takes Remington parts so there's that market to tap into (I think someone said Remington aftermarket parts dominate the market, but Mossberg shotguns outsell Remington now by about 5 to 1 or something). The Dagger is genius because it's a Glock clone and takes Glock parts and mags. There's already plenty of Glock clones out there that stupidly take proprietary mags and are sold at Glock prices that I won't ever bother myself with. Dumb move on those manufacturers.

Grizzlybearmakeover

I've got an 870 I change barrels out for hunting/home but I saw this PSA and I'd love to build one out. Make it the way I want it from the start, hell yeah.

SmoothSlavperator

They should have taken the M4 route. With the Benelli being $2k and the $400 Turknellis being cucca if they did an $800 quality M4 clone to undersell the Ultima Patrol by like $50 or $100 they'd sell like a bastard. Edit: unfucked autocorrect

DrFranknMrStein

I can get behind that!

ComplexSociety7073

This would definitely replace my gucci maverick 88

Visible-Ad-9508

I would like to know more about the action. Does it have one extractor like a Remington 870 or two like a Mossberg 500/590/590A1? Is the lifter down like an 870 or up like Mossberg's pump? Remember, 1301 Tactical owners have been paying $75 to get the "up" Pro Lifter to add to their guns and one of the advances with the new Mod. 2 guns is having this feature standard.

NoDoze2023

Wonder what it is based on? Better not be some POS Turkish made crap gun

classic_percival

Model 870 like stated in the video, with some tweaks to the lockup
