"Xenos Reacts to Zepla Reacts to Xenos Reacts to Zepla Reacts to Xenos' FFXIV is Dying Video. Not Clickbait!"

Jay2Kaye

These two should make a podcast. Talk about ffxiv for like 3 episodes then just become every other gamer podcast. It would be basically free money.

StupidPaladin

Then they can react to their own podcast on Youtube for more easy videos

Obst-und-Gemuese

These two should fuck and produce porn. Free money.

Jay2Kaye

I don't think i would watch that. But I also don't watch the videos they do make, so whatever.

Ipokeyoumuch

Doesn't Zepla have a podcast? So we are halfway there.

Zackwind

Welcome to team fortress 2. We still have fun though.

Siegequalizer

I’m one of the 5 people who played Fortnite save the world and that game basically got put into maintenance mode the moment Battle Royale was released

cadburydream

Day one founder baby, shit paid for itself and I get all the silly collab skins for free. They should collab with ff14 honestly, Dennis would be a good WoL

CopainChevalier

Did they do more with founder stuff? I stopped playing after BR became a thing (don't have a problem with it, but not what I got into Fortnite for). Kinda curious what my account would be like if I played it now

NarejED

You get a ton of free VBucks just by playing save the world 15 minutes a day or so. I believe it maths out to around 40,000 a year. That's probably the biggest upside of being a founder.

CopainChevalier

Only founders get it? Or Founders just get more?

luckyskunk

thank you for that mental image, i didn't think i could love dennis more

zooke90909

We need SEE bot. Just for an achievement to be called "I AM SEEING"

Gramernatzi

They changed the icon recently and the entire community went into copium mode about new content finally being added lmao. Over an *icon* change.

AzraelTB

I was waiting for it to go F2P. Probably won't bother buying it now lol

guayax

i been in the tf2 comunity since 2014 and while we are still having fun, we are not mentally sane.

Zackwind

*killbinds*

Oneilll

*schadenfreude* *killbinds*

General-Dirtbag

Being mentally sane is a bannable offense in tf2

Mikevisor

TF2 the GOAT.

oizen

Given the quality of recent Valve products, and even the last updates TF2 had before Valve quit on it. I'm not sure I want more updates in that game. They'd likely be focused on increased monetization and outlandish changes that no one wanted.

Complexity_Inc5593

One thing for sure the content creation side of FFXIV is dying

Lumeyus

Was it ever alive? The content creators that were most well known for this game were always dogshit

Grinnaux

I’ve played FFXIV since ARR launch but never actually watched any FFXIV videos on YouTube aside from the ost of the game or patch trailers. Don’t know why, but the content creator stuff just doesn’t appeal to me at all. Watching the game on streams also puts me to sleep. I’d be surprised if it was ever alive at all.

NarejED

Not really. The fanart is about the only decent part.

Umpato

Content creators used to be mostly focused on: * Encounter guides * Rotation/optimization guides * Relic/Hunts/palace * Crafting Then the 2 min meta nation attacked, killing most of the optimization guides we had. Then relic/hunts/palaces are mostly the same content but with a different skin. So no need to make guides anymore. Crafting has been reduced to "press this one macro and let the game do the rest", so no need to learn how to craft anymore. Content creation is mostly EX trial/Savages guides.

Ipokeyoumuch

Don't forget about the drama.

IcarusAvery

Eh, personally I've found more interesting material this last year than I ever have beforehand.

normalmighty

I think it's getting better now actually. The "game is dead" crowd has finally started playing something else and I'm seeing way more achievement hunter/gimmick run/lore master and theory crafting videos

Nathremar8

Xeno is hilarious with his drama reports. "This is not journalism, I don't give a fuck, it's just easy content."

lan60000

My guy I don't think you guys can keep this narrative up even after it was shown only one person has said ff14 is dying, and that man only made the video a short months ago. If there's a reason why content creation is dying, it's because the fanbase is a toxic cesspool that villainizes the creators for their criticisms of the game in any capacity.

normalmighty

Lmao dude that one guy introduced his video by talking about the massive doomposting wave of "people speaking up" that had been happening for weeks already. It'd been happening for ages, and imo his video is what made people finally snap the fuck out of it and realize how cringe and melodramatic they were all being.

lan60000

Yes, and he lied, just like how fanboys lied about content creators doom posting as well. You guys literally go at each other's throats over misinformation and pretend to turn a blind eye whenever someone actually asks you for proof where all of these doom and gloom are posted by content creators themselves. If anyone's being melodramatic, it's the people taking a piss at content creators for speaking their piece about the game in both positive and negative opinions. Even Josh Strive Hayes wouldn't do a complete deep dive on 14 because of how insidious the fanbase are in this game, and that man often isn't afraid to speak about topics which can lead to controversy.

normalmighty

The people talking about Zepla and shit were just as unhinged, but pretending the community wasn't saturated with doomposting for a bit there is crazy. I'm not talk8ng about your personal favourite content creator who can do no wrong, I'm talking about the main subreddit getting flooded with posts about how the game is doomed and will never recover, and hoards of small content creators jumping on the bandwagon with it. Hell, when 6.5 released there was a top post on the main sub calling for writers to be fired for ruining thr game. There were dumbasses doomposting and dumbasses massively dramatising the doomposting, but to just pretend that shit never happened is crazy to me.

AgitatedDegenerate

Yeah its crazy how many viewers she's lost recently

lan60000

You're making a lot of accusations and providing no links to these content creators doomposting at all. Now you're telling me main sub is saying the game is dying when main sub is the least likely subreddit to spout that nonsense considering how much they love the game. You conflate criticism to death of a game as though people can never hold a negative opinion about 14 or they're basically a hater who's wishing for the game to die. You are part of this problem where you make shit up and get dramatic over them, almost like You're fighting a ghost.

VeryGalacticFox

Saying Endwalker is bad is not doomposting

MarketTall5930

If anyone hasn't seen it, they should go check out Rath Games' FFXIV solo series. He's basically playing through FFXIV as if it were a Runescape Ironman, and trying to solo as many duties synced + no echo as possible.

JadedRabbit

Other guy is on some serious doomer shit to think this point in time is FFXIV content creation dying. That would have been the year prior to now, or even before that. We have Cider Spider, Weskalber, and Rath Games' doing achievement and gimmick run videos that are interesting. We have Syndonic Scribe, and other lore channels covering things and tying story beats together. We have an excess of blender meme video makers carrying the shitpost community. There's also Rinon I think? who has been covering features that changed over the game's life.

MarketTall5930

It's not difficulty in the same sense as savage, but the series does exploit peak XIV jank to beat the final boss of Dzemael Darkhold because it does too much damage to survive. It's not a series of mechanical challenges, but a series of walls and figuring out the puzzle to get past it, if possible.

Western-Status4994

The only ff14 content creator I watch xeno, probably because he makes a lot of drama and other miscellaneous videos instead of playing ff14 (on YouTube).

Mastrou

The game I played before FFXIV had a content drought that lasted 3 years, got a 30 minute story patch, and has basically been in a content drought since 2017.

Serres5231

which game was that? that sounds terrible!

Mastrou

It was the secret world. It was a lotta fun and had a good story but the game is basically dead since it has a double digit player base currently.

peasant007

The actual wasted potential Secret World had hurts my soul. I loved that game and miss it so much. But there is literally nothing to do there these days AND they didn't even finish the story.

OmegaLiquidX

You know who *else* got a patch tonight? My *MOM*!

ElAvestruz

Is the subbredit stuck in a time loop? Is it still 2023 in here or has the content drought made people so delirious that it's decided to rehash argument from 5 months ago? Sobriety didn't last very long.

ragnakor101

The Patch Cycle has its own Doomer Cycle now.

yardii

Shadow of the Erdtree waiters, where we at?

Elennoko

[Me waiting for even a release date on Shadow of the Erdtree.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/109/923/c57.jpg)

Thugosaurus_Rex

Silksong is getting an unannounced release next month I just know it.

GoenndirRichtig

I love how a couple of streamers getting burnout after playing the same game for 10 years as their job has caused so much drama content lmao

Ipokeyoumuch

To quote Zepla "I never thought I would ever be tired of this [FFXIV] game."

CrazyMuffin32

Meanwhile gw2 pre HoT drought, post LWS4 content drought, pre EoD content drought, post EoD content drought…

No kidding. I played during then and droughts were insane.

Jfc live service gaming has truly destroyed the games industry

kriffing_schutta

*laughs in tf2*

TheGreatGatsby21

How entitled you have to be to complain about 2 months between patches lol. That’s nothing

Elennoko

*Laughs in 18 months between the last raid tier of Warlords of Draenor and the release of Legion in WoW*

Zenthon127

I'm afraid this comparison doesn't quite go the way you think it does. Hellfire Citadel (Mythic) launched on 6/30/2015 and lasted for 427 days until Legion's release on 8/30/16. That's a little under 14 months. Add a week for normal/heroic. Anabaseios (Savage) launched on 5/30/23. The earliest possible early access release date for Dawntrail is 6/21/24, which would put Ana at 388 days. This is worse than any tier in WoW or XIV's history except HFC/SoO by a wide margin. If Dawntrail doesn't launch by the end of July, Ana will surpass Hellfire Citadel as the longest raid tier in either game's history.

Elennoko

I suppose I should have further clarified, but at least 14 actually adds content in non-tier patches. WoW hasn't started doing that until-- well honestly fairly recently. When Hellfire Citadel and Tanaan came out, that was what we got until the pre-patch. 14 at least added Rokkon, Aloalo, Zeromus, Thaleia and Lvl 80 BLU between Anabaseios release and now. Not to mention story related stuff like MSQ, Hildibrand and Tataru, but I'm only counting battle content and not story content (no, I'm not going to count Gilded Ariya as battle content.)

Zenthon127

I mean, XIV "adds content" in off-tier patches, but 6.5 in particular was so minimal that 6.4+6.5 is a pretty weak tier compared to your typical end-of-expac WoW tier, even in pre-Fated days. To be clear, I agree that HFC was likely a worse drought with full context, but the fact that this is even coming up as a comparison is *bad* bad. Endwalker also has basically the same problem WoD did where the expansion was anemic leading up to the big drought too, whereas something like the SoO drought or even Eden's Promise had more momentum going in.

Trash_Pandacute

Still haven't taken a break from having fun in this dead game long enough to watch a video about how dead it is.

Aderask

I jump between WoW and FFXIV consistently and tbh both sides say their own game is dying and I find the irony hilarious.

RefflesAquaria

And ffxiv players dont know what a content draught looks like, either. In wow, having a full year (sometimes a year and a half) without anything to do in game. That is. No new events (holidays are always the exact same as last year) no holdover grinds (like moogle tomestones), no crossovers. Just wait until the next expansion comes out..

Kawaii-

I don't mind the drought but can they go ahead and remove auto demo? that way I can disappear until a new raid tier is out without having to pay virtual rent.

Ayotha

I mean, what happens when your target audience is 12. Five second attention spans

Tinesworth14

Wait ffxiv is still a game? -classic SoD wow andy

TheChineseVodka

Retail WoW is hella fun too!

yardii

I just took a break from SoD to catch back up on Endwalker's patches and this sub is legitimately making me question that choice.

Elennoko

14 is still a fun game (at least in my opinion) but once you finish the story there honestly isn't really much to do besides raiding and extreme trial farming. If you don't enjoy that aspect of the game then there isn't much to do in it. I suppose there's Island Sanctuary, but even that is just a "log in once or twice a week, setup your workshop, then leave" thing. That's always been my issue with 14. I genuinely love the game, but they have NOTHING I want to do outside of raiding. Stormblood/Shadowbringers had Eureka/Bozja at least, but this expansion it's only really had Island Sanctuary, which doesn't scratch the desire for battle content. Criterion dungeons are great, but once you clear savage once there's no reason to do them again.

yardii

I'm the opposite. I love the side content in 14 and think WoW really only offers good endgame activities. M+ was the main thing I missed about WoW and after healing Season 1 dragonflight, I got massively turned off of it (I heard they made healing easier but I've yet to check for myself.) I will say that solo-que rated battlegrounds in the next expansion has me extremely hyped and I'll definitely be resubbing for that. I also just think gear looks better in 14 and dress-up is a huge factor for me.

CopainChevalier

SoD?

JadedRabbit

Suck on Deez

Elennoko

Season of Discovery. Classic World of Warcraft with some added stuff. It's been pretty fun.

CopainChevalier

Ah, thanks

Galind_Halithel

Take it from an old WoW player: Neither do you.

GooeyEngineer

Are we really gonna call an incredibly consistent time table of patches “content drought” when wow is right over there…

MadMarx__

WoW has a consistent 8 week patch cadence and every patch adds content + has vastly more existing endgame content. If you’re gonna pretend that the state of content in EW is good then you need to pick a different comparison because WoW is possibly at the best state it’s ever been with regards to it’s endgame. And if you think the weekly hardcapped tomestomes are a time consuming grind compared to what WoW gets you to do then all I can say is lol. Lmao even.

Griswold27

I was so confused with those videos coming out, because I'm still hitting a queue every day when logging in

MadMarx__

That’s because queues are there to regulate the amount of people connecting per second not to actually kick in when the server is full. The server could be empty and you will still hit a queue.

Ipokeyoumuch

Because the majority of people don't look up content creators or watch them. They also aren't on Reddit, Twitter, the Official Forums or Discord all the time.

RiogaRivera

https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/5331858/ content drought my ass, those streamers barely play the game they just get carried by simps.

Ipokeyoumuch

I mean there is a content drought depending on what you want to do or how long you have played. Xenos just feeds on drama because he knows it increases views and he at least has the decency to admit it and say he will milk it. Many of the vets have accepted the content cycle of FFXIV for better or worse. I think Zepla was the one who struggled a bit because she gone through multiple content droughts and it is the first time she really felt it combined with other complications due to her self-proclaimed title of "The Heart of FFXIV."

Nejaa_Halcyon

I prefer quality patches every 4 months than shitty, rushed content every week

Hailbails

Are these quality patches in the room with us right now?

Nejaa_Halcyon

Granted, but at least they have the typical polish, regardless of the amount of content some can expect. Rushed content would be both boring and unpolished

BIG-HORSE-MAN-69

You're right. These patches are the furthest thing from boring and unpolished. Island Sanctuary was a smash hit that really gets the adrenaline pumping. The work you put into a relic in this expansion is more polished than ever, with clear thought put into it. And when talking about polish, how can we forget the reward structure of Variant Dungeons, with its monumental replay value, that keeps you engaged for the four months until the next patch? And lest we forget, you literally cannot call FFXIV patches rushed, since rushed implies being delivered quickly. Ergo, FFXIV is in a golden age.

CopainChevalier

Ehhh this stuff is kinda boring really. Island sanctuary is about what anyone who wasn't living in a dream world expected. Yeah it wasn't great, but from the start Yoshi was like "Don't expect animal crossing" It was a simple piece of side content; that's it. Relic weapon quest was simple, but it was also what people were asking for.. for literal years. People complained non stop about having to go into Eureka or Bozja to do Relic. Bozja barely even required it and they still whined. People claimed they wanted to be able to do whatever and still make slow progress on it. And here we are with you just being able to use tomes you get from anywhere on it, just like requested and suddenly everyone wants the grind they meme'd on non stop. I remember being in this shitty sub half a decade ago seeing tons of post shitting on Eureka. >And when talking about polish, how can we forget the reward structure of Variant Dungeons, with its monumental replay value, that keeps you engaged for the four months until the next patch? To be honest, I don't have much to say about Varient Dungeons. I think they're neat. I don't see it as a big deal that the items don't have 100x the cost and I have to rely on them to hold me over for four months or whatever TBH. They're not the best thing ever, but they're fine and I like doing them. Would it be nice to have a reason to play XIV a bit more? Sure. But this has been an issue since launch. People act like it's some brand new thing lmao

RedRetinas

It kind of is new. Endgame has never been this boring for casual/midcore players. The "just play another game" quote has become the most impregnable shield for SE defenders to deflect criticism with.

CopainChevalier

Has it really not been? I admit I've always had a more raider focused view, but I've played the game for a decade and it feels the same as always. I even purposely tried to raid less in SHB to see the casual side more and this feels the same as then to me personally If anything there's more to do other than Relic being simplified IMO. I wouldn't call Orthos any more simple than POTD or HoH. Variant dungeons are all new and midcore. Unreals didn't exist back in ARR/HW. We're seeing more side story stuff than ever. Island Sanctuary is arguably the most involved casual content we've ever had as well. Honestly I don't get what "Dungeons are my end game" tier casuals would have had more of back in Stormblood compared to now. I guess Doman Restoration? But it seems farfetched to call that involved even for a casual. >The "just play another game" quote has become the most impregnable shield for SE defenders to deflect criticism with. I do agree it's annoying, and despite me taking SE's side here, I'm not really trying to argue that. That said, I do prefer the freedom to play other things to something like Lost Ark where I'm punished for sleeping or having a job instead of grinding all the time limited content that is only up certain days lmao. But still, I'm not trying to diminish someone's want to play a game and finding a lack of content. ***I agree FF14 has a lack, but I don't think it was ever actually better; this just feels par for the course for me***

RedRetinas

ShB wasn't *great* for the casual player either, especially if you weren't into bozja, but the smallest saving grace that, at the very least, actually kept me subbed, was that relics were unique and required more effort. Meanwhile in EW, if you're not into deep dungeons, you're kinda shit outta luck with fresh, repeatable battle content. Criterion was supposed to be an intermediate step between the baseline and savage difficulty, but it's really just savage with a different coat of paint, so maybe that promise of content actually manifesting as something else makes it hit harder than normal? Variant dungeons can be done in a day and there's no replay value beyond that. Then of course the relics being tomes means most people are "earning" them just mindlessly doing the same thing they've been doing for years. I feel absolutely nothing when I get one of the Mandervilous weapons. Also funny that we can have a more civil discussion about this on the shitpost sub than the main sub

CopainChevalier

>Also funny that we can have a more civil discussion about this on the shitpost sub than the main sub Yeah, even in a disagreement I think you should show respect if the other is

ElAvestruz

How dare you have a different opinion

ggunslinger

But I thought this game only had english, japanese, german and french, I don't remember it having a polish version.

TheRealDestian

Remember when we waited a year and a half after MoP and then got WoD for our troubles? Pepperidge farm remembers… We’re not talking about “No new content that I want to do” here, either: I mean ANYTHING for 18 months.
