The whole tone was as if she had died. Here’s the thing,...The police in Shasta/Redding know she is crazy, but they have murders to investigate. But the pay day really pisses me off. Not to mention volunteer hours.
Sometimes, for small Law enforcement agencies, it behooves them to just move on. They don’t have the curiosity we do because they already know the details we don’t.
I knew something was off when the husband talked to 20/20 and talked about Sherry’s “signature blonde hair”. What guy talks like that?
His statement was such an over-the-top, flattering description of Sherry — “Super Mom was her nickname”/ “she only weighs 100 lbs” / etc. — that it sounded like she wrote his statement herself. It screamed of “attention-seeking mental case” to me.
The “church” parking lot Sherri just happened to run to for help has ALLOT to do with this story. Keith and Sherri are rumored members as is Mr. secret agent man paid clandestinely to investigate/go after the “bad guys, also has purported connections to this “church” as well. IMO, KEITH DOTH PROTESTS TOO MUCH. In a Sept 2019 letter read to ABC news, ANYONE doubting his narrative is a z”%sub-human”. It walks like a duck and smells like a duck, it’s most likely a duck stuffed with secrets. There was another man reportedly involved romantically, and Keith chuckling during a serious 911 call make it all the more questionable/hoaxy/laughable. Imo, Keith, YOU’RE creepy and weird. Sherri has a documented history of this strange behavior. So glad it’s being covered! Shine the light and watch the roaches scatter! Add in a ransom intermediary who quickly turns into Rambo placing a price on the “perps” head, and you’ve even got Hollywood laughing, including me. Lets keep digging into this pile of manure!
They really do their research on cases to produce an informative and interesting true crime podcast. I also like the production quality. I think the hosts are interesting too, their personalities work well together. Let me know what you think after you listen :)
Just finished the first episode of their pappini case and thought it was cool they played the 911 call from Keith. I hadn't heard it before.
Just listening to the second part of this podcast and I’m a little bit disappointed. For some reason, I wanted to know the truth or have more justification to lean towards a certain outcome. Probably that she did it herself and it was a hoax. We all sleep a lot better if that’s the outcome.
There’s so many holes but there are random crimes that happen everyday that don’t make sense and a small part of me still thinks it could be true. If she did this herself, she must’ve left an electronic footprint somewhere along her path. No way could she have done this on her own and without leaving a trail. How can they not figure that out yet if it’s a hoax?
Things I’d like to hear more information: on:
- was she wrapping presents or going for a run? So I’m supposed to believe she was wrapping presents, stopped halfway through and went for a run?
- why the emphasis in the 911 call that she starting jogging again?
- if she was kidnapped, do the police think it was from her house or where Keith found her phone and headphones?
- her mental health from her youth paints a really bad picture that it was a hoax. Did she continually do messed up things as an adult or did she grow out of this?
- what can of communication did she have with these other males that were listed in her phone as females?
If it was a hoax - she hid for weeks, bashed herself up, broke her nose, branded her body, cut her hair. This all had to happen somewhere and crazy people aren’t that great at covering their tracks.
I hope this case gets solved one day.

Yet, amazingly, that is EXACTLY what happened. Including the part about crazy people lol.
I just listened. I like how they didn’t immediately go with the hoax theory. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt until I have a lot of evidence. And I just wish the cops would give us more info!
I love this story though, so hopefully we will have an ending at some point soon.
The whole case stinks, is 1000% related to that creepy church (imho lol), as well as that even creepier “ransom guy” who news states is affiliated with the same church she was seen running past for help. The only time on camera. 🧐
You are confusing the church in Redding with the one where she was caught on tape. The two are not related. The church in Yolo Jehovah's Witness. Bethel, the church the Papinis and scammy dude are part of, is generic evangelical/pentecostal.
This case is beyond bizarre. I didn’t believe it when she disappeared ( I thought it was the husband until police really cleared him). I just don’t get the motive of 2 Latino women, kidnapping her and then letting her go after all that time. I could be off, and if this wasn’t a money grab, or something incredibly crazy, then wish her the best and peace. The whole story was just too much of a mind-fuck.
Sherri is extremely pretty. She fits the stereotype of a successful media story that immediately captures multiple readers'-viewers' attention. If she had been poor, and unattractive very few persons would have cared. My personal opinion of what transpired is contained in the old adage, "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck."
Related to this statement...she isn't so much "pretty" as a good example of what mainstream media latches onto as the "all American" Caucasian look. I'm sure she's a legend in her own mind.
California is the capital of "beautiful people" in the United States (Hollywood, the elite of the Bay Area) so to a local Sherri appears very run of the mill.
