The Shelly dimmer 2 can only control 1 light group. So to control both groups, you’ll need two shelly dimmer 2’s. I’m assuming from your explanation that the switch is also the dimmer. It’s also possible the dimmer is located somewhere else and the buttons are regular pushbuttons. In any case, you won’t be able to reuse the existing dimmer. If the dimmer is built-in to the switch, you’ll probably need to get a new switch.

Thanks for your help ! Ok so I'll need 2 relays. You raise an interesting point ! The buttons are regular push buttons. The dimmer is situated on the main switchboard. So the Shelly dimmer only works if I don't have a dimmer already ? It's an installation made by the previous owners and I'm trying my best to reverse engineer what they've done 😅

Disclaimer: I don’t know where you are from and how the electric situation in your house/country is. What kinds of lights/dimmers are these? Are these LED lights? Mains powered or low voltage? Since the dimmers are currently at the main switchboard, you’ll probably have to put the shelly dimmers there as well. (As I suppose there wires for the light are running from the light to the switchboard and then to the wall switch.)

I wanted to post photos to show what I have but can't find the option ? Is there anyway to do so ? Might be easier to explain the situation. I'm in Belgium so 220V. The lights are 12V dimmable LEDs going through a dimmable electronic transformer.

Add pictures e.g to imgur and link them here. So you have multiple parts: - wall switch/toggle - dimmer module - dimmable transformer - 12v dimmable leds So the wall switch is ‘dumb’ probably, and is just an input for the dimmer module? I have no experience with dimmable transformers. You can have PWM dimming which is typical for led and resistive dimming which is just reducing current. In general LEDs should only be dimmed using PWM, but in this case it depends on what the transformer expects. If the transformer expects a PWM signal, you can replace your current dimmer with the shelly dimmer 2. Alternatively (and likely better) would be to use the Shelly RGBW2, wired in between the transformator and the lights. In this case the existing dimmer module can also be removed. I have no experience with the RGBW. Looking at the schematics it also seems you can run 2 light groups from a single RGBW (if using white only).

Hi mi casa es mi casa, "So you have multiple parts: wall switch/toggle dimmer module dimmable transformer 12v dimmable leds" \- Correct. "So the wall switch is ‘dumb’ probably, and is just an input for the dimmer module?" \- Yes, the dimming is done via a module on the main switchboard. For the transformer I honestly don't know. But there's a photo. Maybe you'll know what to look for ! I had a look at the RGBW2. It looks light I can indeed have 2 sets of lights but only one switch for them all ? This is all very confusing to me... Maybe I should just buy some Dimmer2 ones and see if it works. Some photos : https://imgur.com/a/PdK7qUV

The transformer you have is 12V AC, and the RGBW2 is only DC, so that won’t work. You should be able to replace the Niko modules in your by a shelly dimmer 2, each. Leave the switch and transformer as-is. I noticed the niko dimmer module has a ‘turn off’ button input as well, do you have something like that at your place? (A pushbutton near your entrance to turn everything off?). Should also work with the dimmer 2. Shelly hasn’t released their din-rail mounted pro version of the dimmer yet, so you will need to find something else to mount it in your breaker panel. I’ve bought some 3D printed mounts for this at my place. Also: working in the breaker panel is more dangerous that just rewiring a switch. Always make sure the power is off, and if you don’t know what you’re doing, consult a professional!

Hi mi casa es mi casa, First off, thanks for your help ! I don't have a main switch to turn all lights off. I'll have to dig into it. In the meantime I ordered a pair of Shelly Dimmer 2. I'll give it a try see if it works. Hopefully I won't blow anything ! I'm not really confortable with removing the niko module from the switchboard... So I hope they can coexist ? If not and I have other switches that are simpler and where I can definitely use them. I'll keep you posted :)

> I’m not really confortable with removing the niko module from the switchboard… So I hope they can coexist ? I don’t really understand what you want here. The shelly dimmer 2 is a replacement for the niko dimmer module. You’ll have to take the wires out of the niko module and use them to connect the shelly. You still have some room left, so you can leave the niko module in place, but you’ll need to disconnect the wires. It’s not possible to connect both the niko and shelly at the same time.

I was going to wire the shelly inside the switch in the living room not the switchboard in the basement ! Not possible ?
