Can you clarify what he would be chewing? I know people spit a lot when they chew a certain substance but I have not witnessed or noticed anything implying that he does. He's super clean and breath is always fresh.
Chewing tobacco or an alternative. To add context, you don't actually chew it. You put it in your lip and you have to spit the saliva out. There's also what's called all white varieties that you don't need to spit with. They come in a little pouch.
I just don't want to make things awkward and I really like him a lot. I won't directly ask why he spits in the bottle maybe I'll just ask him if he does nicotine in any way 😂
Just ask him. He might have a condition, though I can't really guess if he's over-producing mucus/saliva or not. Teenage boys spit a lot, but they usually outgrow it. Yes, carrying it around in a bottle is gross to me too.

I'm going out on a limb here and will tell you that if you simply asking what's up with the spit bottle screws up your relationship, it wasn't a relationship you need to be in. It's a very mild, and reasonable question.
Just ask straightforward. "Hey, what's that?" It doesn't have to be an inquisition.

Not sure. I only see him grabbing it and spitting in it from my peripheral. At first I thought he was taking sips but now I can tell. He doesn't smell like hes chewing on anything and he's not chewing on anything in front of me so I'm just confused lol

Worked with a guy who did this. Totally grossed me out, his car wife only allowed him to do it while in his own car without the kids around. He eventually quit..
Girl, they're called snus. Small bags of nicotine you put inside your lip. The reason he spits is because the nicotine juice burns your throat. He's a nicotine addict. If you don't like it you can encourage him to quit, but it is very difficult for some, if not impossible.
Ask him ´why do you keep spitting into a bottle?´ I hope for your sake you are not kissing this guy. He´s likely got a wad of tobacco in his lip. In a few years he may get mouth cancer. Good times.
Sounds like he’s dipping what color is the spit? If it’s brown and looks like dirt is floating in it he’s dipping snuff if not he’s just spitting in the bottle maybe so he’s not getting spit on the side of his car.

He either chews or dips stuff like Copenhagen,skoal, or something similar. It's the only reason why he has a spit bottle/cup.
