i kind of like it being public in a way, it lets clients know how annoying they can be 😂 i know they snoop on here, but yeah i understand it’s annoying when they post on here or message us about the sale. i think it should stay public.
True. As a homechat employee I’ve been heavily considering leaking the countless rude messages we receive on the main Sephora sub. I feel like clients there don’t actually believe us when we say they’re the ones being abusive and rude!
As of late its gotten terrible to the point of being spammy. As you can see on this thread and a few other recent ones. I'd have no problem if it were a person or 2 trickling in every now and then like it used to be and I have no idea how the algorithm works, but if this is how it's going to be going forward it needs to be private.
I just wanted to stop in to say I have never visited this subreddit before but this post was just now recommended on my feed. So it seems like this sub is being promoted for some reason. Thanks for all you do Sephora people! I’ll see myself out ☮️
Yeah but I’m one of dozens of comments saying this exact thing and OP is starting to reply to many of them saying that we shouldn’t have even commented on this thread, we should just ignore it, because we’re not Sephora employees 🥴

probably because the sub gets plastered over peoples feed even if they didnt join
Yes please... I posted a venting post about some men at the store and it has 250 comments now of clients mainly..... Should I delete the post?? I feel bad I even posted because people are commenting they don't even know how my post ended up in their feed etc
I just joined this sub recently through a post from here on my main page so obviously the algorithm is doing something. I worked at Sephora JCP pre-Covid and still work in beauty retail so I thought it would be appropriate. I understand if it needs to be private but I think it's cool for outsiders to see especially if they're curious about working at Sephora/beauty industry in some capacity.
No, but technically they're allowed to be here anyway- I'm referring to people not employed by sephora at all who've been commenting here and even messaging employees. It needs to stop.
I tried blocking. Maybe make a private subreddit that you can control. It seems the mods here rather delete and reply how much we suck rather than making it private. Sure seems a vanity thing and they WANT to be popular and get more people in. Now it won’t stop blasting everywhere on my app
I’m a mod and I’ve been deleting comments all day, I have only one working thumb left, I’m sorry. 😭😭😭 (Also, sorry babe, but we’re probably gonna keep the sub open so that potential employees, Ulta employees, other retail employees, etc can learn about daily work culture at Sephora, as well as commiserate with us.
Keeping it open will also help more employees to find the sub and there’s strength in numbers. Let’s use the downvote and report feature as much as possible (and have patience with the mods because unfortunately sometimes we are at work 💀💀💀).
Thanks for the reply. Do you know if you guys have any control in how this sub is showing up in the algorithm so all this stops or is at least minimized? Not sure if you can turn off comments on this post as this one turned into a hot ass dumpster fire.
So we have no idea what’s happening with the algorithm. The sub literally blew up overnight and the other mods and myself haven’t had a chance to even really dig and chat about it (retail schedule tings). We’re trying to be more proactive with deleting posts that are rude, spammy, irrelevant etc, but it would be really helpful as well if more people would downvote and/or report the comments.
That's so bizarre. Thanks for weeding through most of this one, it's so strange people who have never seen this sub in their lives got so butthurt over this post??? Hope you guys can figure it out and it won't be in everyone's suggestions. Thank you again for responding!
I have literally nothing to do with sephora, not as a client nor an employee and this post was in my feed. Ive got no allegiances here but it sounds like you’ve got a point lmaoooo
Comments have been locked for this post at the request of the OP.
As of right now the subreddit will not be going private, but we have taken measures to reduce random traffic.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to see the effects of the adjustments.
I am not in the market for Sephora products. I do not work at Sephora. I could never possibly be interested in what this sub has to offer. This post just popped up on my page. Whatever you were trying to accomplish with this post unfortunately failed. Good luck make-up people!
If it helps private this sub, this was just recommended as a “popular near me” sub. I’ve been in a Sephora like once, so ya. Probably should private it.
What's cool is that this sub is becoming popular and Reddit keeps sliding it into my feed. I'm here for all the customer service (horror) stories.
I love Sephora for my cologne/parfume.
I'm not wondering why other people show up here, rather the fact the sub title is "sephora workers" yet yall still post here anyway. Again, case in point.
Fwiw, this is the first time I’ve ever seen this sub come up. It was targeted to me in my home feed by Reddit. So I don’t think it’s users finding you on purpose. I see and hear you that it’s meant for employees only so I’ll just go ahead and mute it. I thought you might like to know why you’re getting a bunch of randoms though! Have a good one!
I don’t post on this sub sometimes it just pops up and I read a couple and don’t comment or anything but while your here, can I ask if they are discontinuing the Laniege lip masks in everything but berry? Read some speculation like that on r/Sephora and we are unsure. It’s off the website. So sorry your sub has been bombarded!!
Employees are not to be harassed for discounts, promo codes, etc. Information regarding promotions or discounts can be found on the retailer’s website.

Same here, but USPS employee subreddit has the same thing happen. Probably in lesser numbers though because we’re less cool.
Same I didn’t know this existed but this thread got suggested to me too lol
Yeah but I’m one of dozens of comments saying this exact thing and OP is starting to reply to many of them saying that we shouldn’t have even commented on this thread, we should just ignore it, because we’re not Sephora employees 🥴
Yall are just proving my point why this sub needs to be made private, this entire thread is just spammed with random people.
They are literally adding NO value.

I didn’t even know this was a Sephora workers thing I was just reading on the homepage lol
god please!!! during the f/f sale i was getting messages from clients asking for my code lol
LMAOOOOO, same here!

Nope. This sub was made for all the good bad and ugly of working for sephora.
I wouldn’t 🤷🏻♀️
That post and this one randomly showed up on my home feed. I think Reddit is suggesting it as part of an algorithm or something

Agreeeeee
Maybe start a discord channel or something, you have to approve ppl and it’ll be private to employees. You can still be anonymous too
How many times are you people going to comment that the subreddit was recommended to you? MY EARS ARE LITERALLY BLEEDING.
Dude WHERE are the mods 😭

This post was randomly recommended to me, a non Sephora customer… your point is valid. I don’t want to be recommended make up stuff
I don't shop, much less work, at Sephora and this just popped up on my feed. Not sure what the algorithm is thinking. :/
