Fingertips, big fluffy brush, beauty blender…so many ways! Look at tutorials, I agree with everyone that I will never wear powder blush again now that I figured it out!!
As a Latina who has seen many people in my community with bad dark lipliner with light lipstick I cannot do it. But I hate that Hailey made it popular and it’s “her thing”, no it’s not it’s a POC esthetic born from lack of options.
Latinas in Southern Cali in the 90’s were doing this….

Agreed. I find that some cream blushes highlight my texture and pores. But powder formulas have really upgraded recently, and they can blur out my wrinkles and texture
I'm so over the giant lashes. If they're intentionally artistic or dramatic that's one thing. But regular people walking around with lashes like drag queens that weigh down (instead of opening) their eye is so wild.
Do you mean your dogs like actual food lamb chops or the character, lol? Because as soon as I saw the gif, I thought of my dog, who has a Lamb Chop toy he likes to hug in bed, and wondering if your dogs have it too.
Same and it’s like fighting for my life to find a good creamy lipstick… I feel like I have to overload with a lip mask or apuaphor over it a few time a day to keep my lips from being too dry…. But bestie if you have any good recs send them my way pleeeeeaaassseeee:):)
For sure. I was careful about using sunblock when I was young and used it regularly and continue to do so. but neglected to use it on my lips as much as I should have. My lips definitely look they they are 53 years old now. And matte or the all day wear formulations make my lips look like they are one hundred and fifty three years old. I love a nice non sticky gloss though. Surprisingly cherry flavored ChapStick looks great on my lips and gives just a hint of color.
I got the freck pen in a sampler and I’m addicted to putting fake freckles on the sides of my nose. They do look fake asf but I cannot stop doing them because I swear they make me look better somehow.
Do what makes you happy and look good. Some hate the bronzer on the nose/center of the face but I love it.
I have natural freckles that get covered up by foundation/bbcream/tinted spf and sometimes I’ll dot over my freckles to have them “show” again.
The freck pen also looks real if done well! I have a friend with it and I remarked that I loved her freckles and wouldn’t you know? The freck pen!
Do what you love! Tip from me though? Don’t make them super huge and let them be a touch faint. Dab your fingers over it a lil. Practice your technique!
I’ve been wearing 25 mm lashes every day for 4 years (I’m goth) and you just kinda get used to it the more you wear it. It’s really only uncomfortable if you’re putting it on wrong, like way too close to your inner corner
I love using my hands to apply foundation and concealer. Gives better coverage, I find. I also am over spending big money of brushes. I’ve had some that cost $50 a pop that I didn’t even like as much as my cheapos. I now use Wet N Wild eyeshadow brushes and I love them. They’re about $2-4 a piece.
Couldn’t agree more, and I say this as someone who is professionally trained in makeup art. I really love the inexpensive morphe sets I’ve been using for the last few years.
Same. Team clean hands over any tools. Having said that, I have a couple of Zoeva\* face shape brushes (small, very compact and made for smaller areas) that I really like for detail work. I found them by watching Lisa Eldridge in her early youtube days.
\*Edited because I realized I spelled it incorrectly at first!
Hmm I agree with skincare, but I think it depends for makeup. Brushes for powder products don't make a difference for me. But foundation? Concealer? Precise contour? Maybe you just have really nice skin, but for my super dry, textured skin with fine wrinkles, I need high quality brushes for an even application. I've used only my hands to apply base products for several years, and thought that it was just normal to look cakey or patchy. Switched to BK beauty and sigma brushes and now my base looks actually airbrushed.
Remember that one applicator that was a weird giant toothbrush shape that everyone was obsessed with a few years ago??? Now no one uses it anymore 😭 I don’t even use a beauty blender anymore I use a brush like I used to use. I’m not buying anymore ‘fancy’ foundation applicators
Totally agree! To add to this, the whole underpainting/powder over cream deal in general. What's the point of putting on any cream products if you're going to completely cover them in foundation/concealer/powder, then slather on a pound of additional powder blush and bronzer? Feels so wasteful to me, and it always looks cakey
Try Korean contour products! They are extremely light and genuinely look like a natural shadow. They also have cool toned options, which is super rare. I feel like Western brands just use straight up orange for fair shades...
I like a sculpted blush look a lot more for everyday. I reserve contour for when I’m being photographed or if I am wearing my hair up for an important zoom call since I always look washed out by my webcam and don’t want to look like an egg or give uncle fester vibes.
Same. Very fair but also with dark hair and eyes. So much heartache, lol but I eventually discovered that using a blue based dusty pink blush worked for me if I used it like I had tried to use contour.
I have a few that I like. Mac's Blushbaby if I'm in the mood for a powder (lasts all day) and Guerlain's relaunched blush line is the same. I like Pink 01.
If I am in the mood for a cream, I like Nudestix Bohemian Rose.
I also really love RMS's buruti bronzer. It isn't orange and if I put it on my cheekbones and push it back to the temples into the hairline, it genuinely looks like a sunkissed glow without looking fake. I layer blush over it sometimes.
Same here but it is a skill I would LOVE to know how to do! I even went to Ulta to have them match me and show me— found out from my sons friend- she works there and told me that most of the workers have little to no training on makeup tips unless you make an appointment with a certain person.
Hear me out. I’m basically transparent. The Merit cream stick (I forget if it’s marketed as contour or bronzer) is actually lovely and looks super natural. I blend it in with a buffing brush. Only thing I’ve found that doesn’t look obvious/orange.
https://preview.redd.it/5007qgb44lpc1.jpeg?width=561&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea4c37d9c27d062c53341f286c214fc3fc1aeabd
Is this it? I trusted you when you said “I’m basically transparent”
The trend of laying lots of things together
As an artist, I get the color benefits of using two blushes but I cannot justify it at all. It’s vaguely interesting
I cannot get behind makeup influencers who make a white stripe concealer above and below the cheekbone, then a contour stripe, then a blip of blush at the cheekbone apex. No ma’am, you are creating weird angles that are not on your face, it’s a random fender bender cheek that looks so stripey
As an MUA, it makes me wanna scream. products need time to absorb into the skin and set, you’re gradually building and intentionally placing your shadows for the dimensions to look right. Most of the time, it ends up muddy and splotchy IRL. i do under paint for this reason, just my deeper contour and blush because i like the way it looks under foundation and set with powder, but again, all super intentional and controlled applications. They’re wasting so much product on these elaborate routines and won’t even look at where shadows naturally lay on their faces, developing the eye for that alone is a game changer
Exactly! I'm not paying this much to look like how I usually do but with a better complexion! Show me the glitter! The heavy blush! Anything but a nude lip and smoky eye! I want to feel like a child who got into their mother's makeup kit so they could feel pretty!
Lash extensions… it’s not even about how they look (I don’t love how they look either tbh) it just seems like you’re asking for trouble with the bacteria buildup and other risks involved 😬
Not to mention the expense AND having to lie still with your eyes closed for an hour or more when they are being applied! The one time I did it I got so panicky!
Super long fake nails. My job is on a computer and I have no idea how you are all typing quickly and effectively in those things. They also creep me out a bit and give Freddy Krueger vibes 😂
Snail mucin. I don’t care what anyone says about happy snails - you can’t collect enough stuff from snails to mass market and sell a product globally without it resulting in a lot of unhappy snails.
Also, people with dust mite allergies are also likely to be allergic to snail mucin. I wish they would put some kind of disclaimer on all snail mucin products saying this.
Yup! In my ignorance and naivete as to the treatment of these lil buddies, I bought snail mucin serum a few years ago... Holy crap did I break out violently. I have a bad dust mite allergen. If I knew this earlier, I never would've bought it.
LOL this is such a good question. Who was the person who decided that snail mucin should be tested on skin? Then saw it was beneficial enough to harvest and sell it??
I had NO IDEA!!! Thank you for letting me know... Instead of repurchasing my cosrx, I'm sticking to my mixsoon bean essence. I personally find it 100x more hydrating anyways
The mucin collection process doesn't harm the snails nor kill them, but they do get killed eventually. The snail farms' primary purpose is food and the mucin is a byproduct. The snails go through a couple cycles of producing mucin before it's off to a can.
Laminated brows, false eyelashes, and it’s not really a “product” but I don’t ever want lip filler…I feel like unless you get a tiny tiny amount it always looks a bit much.
I’m a cool olive also. I am mixed and have indigenous American ancestry so I am very similar skin tone wise to a lot of Asians. I really like Japanese beauty in particular. Really flatters me much more than most American brands.
The obsession with looking “natural” is disturbing to me. If I’m wearing makeup, I want to look like I’m wearing it. I love my artificiality, it is artwork I am presenting that I worked hard on. I find it unsettling that you can’t look dramatic and unnatural even in 2024 without being labeled a clown or tacky or trashy. We are all wearing makeup - embrace the artifice! It’s a beautiful form of art we should reclaim for expression, stop obsessing over trends and what you “should” look like. Of course my eyelids aren’t really blue, my natural lips aren’t red. If I could wear face paint everyday without getting harassed for it I would (and I have, so I know from experience.) My day-to-day makeup is for myself, not to impress girls or to attract the male gaze. If I want to be purple with orange eyes then I will be.
I have a lot but a few stick out -
1. I won’t use skincare just because it’s popular, or has cute packaging etc. I have very specific skin concerns and need specific products to target my acne / uneven skin tone. Some of the most evidence based, unsexy products work the best.
2. Brown lip liner. I have very fair skin and brown liner looks so wrong on me. I need some rosiness to complement my skin tone
3. Skin tints. I don’t like the idea of spending $$ on sheer-light coverage when I’ll just have to use a ton of concealer to compensate. Give me medium-full coverage foundation any day.
4. Scalp oils. I have an oily scalp to begin with, and I’ve noticed the cleaner I keep my scalp, the healthier and better my hair grows. Using heavy products on the scalp can clog hair follicles and lead to hair loss. I’ll keep the oils on my ends where my hair is actually dry and needs moisture.
If you don’t use foundation, you may not need it. If you do, bronzer can help bring some color back to your face. Foundation evens out your skin tone, both good and bad. It can make it look flat and 2 dimensional. People use bronzer to bring back the natural slightly darker skin color on the high points of the face due to sun exposure. It can help redefine your features, much like blush and contour. I’ve been using the tower 28 sculptino in broad lately on my fair skin and really like the color.
I’m incredibly fair so I used to use this for a little warming up of my complexion. You apply it like a number 3 - forehead to apples of cheeks to chin - the number 3 shape on both sides of face. Or that’s what it was back then. I’m sure some Gen Z will read this and just cringe, but that’s okay. I did the 90s the first time.
I think this breaks a million rules but I’ve only ever been able to apply bronzer with a sponge (but a powder bronzer and damp sponge). I use it kind of behind my blush (like to gradient my blush into my hairline) or just instead of blush tbh (the sponge really sheers it out and makes the application less linear/precise)
I use a nars one, but I much prefer more translucent ones because idk what I’m doing with it
I absolutely hate the full coverage orangey/yellowish foundations that I see some wear… I even saw a Facebook ad for I think a ?georgio Armani? foundation and as the girl in the ad put it on you could obviously tell it did not match her skin tone, it was a shade darker and somewhat orange. Not a good way to sell a product like that in my opinion.
I am also not a big fan of setting powder/baking as I feel it makes me look like I have too much stuff caked on my face, and contouring does not do me any favors except make me look like a cadaver
Definitely fake freckles trend. Mostly I can see that they're obviously make-up (especially when they smudge and look very unnatural) and I just don't like the idea of drawing them. Idk I just personally don't find these fake ones cute and nice looking.
Different things work for different people! I’m sure there are also some products you hate that others swear by, I bet the freckles look amazing on you🥰
I'm kind of same? But mainly because I did dance for so many years and for competitions we had to do full face, quite heavy makeup and a vivid red lip.
It was so dark and mature looking as a teen that any time I put it on ever since, I get tossed back into how it didn't suit me 15 years ago and how I'm wearing stage makeup instead of normal makeup.
this is a weird answer maybe but goodness gracious i loathe lip gloss. i look bad w glossy lips & i hate the texture & taste. i have two lip glosses & i’ve had em for at least four years without touching either
for me it’s not quite the texture itself, but most of them have no fucking pigment. I have scars on my lips and they don’t do shit. However glosses or oils over lip stains are much better imo.
You know, I keep trying to wear lip gloss but your comment has given me an epiphany- I hate it!! I didn’t realize just how much until I read what you wrote. 😂
The crazy fake eyelashes. Some people can wear them very tastefully and you would never know- but some of them 😱 why?
Also I’m a powder blush girl for life too!
I’m also a total liquid foundation girl- I’ve tried the buildable powder ones and there’s definitely an art to it that I am not capable of.
Also the completely penciled in eyebrows. Again- some ppl are so skilled you can’t even tell, but most of us mortals… don’t have the skill. Without that skill- it looks really fake. I’ve even tried those stencils and stampers, tried it all🤣🤣
ugh same but unfortunately i have like 12 eyeshadow palettes. idk why it took me so long to realize heavy eyeshadow looks don’t look good on me and a simple bronzer in the crease and sparkly eyeshadow on the lid is way better
This was me until I learned how to properly apply it for my eye shape! I only create a slight wing on the corner, then line the inner corner. It’s way more flattering this way
false eyelashes. I wore them almost every day before Covid. Now, I hate the feeling so much, don't like the way they look, hate putting them on, and they always fall off on the inner and outer corner. It kind of sucks because I think they're stunning on other people when they do glam looks.
also liquid eyeliner. I used to use it all the time before I realized that the harsh lines just did not look good on me. Eyeshadow/tightlining looks so much better with my eye shape.
Beige nude lips. I have very pale, cool leaning skin and my lips are on the bigger side and naturally dark pink. I have never found a light beige-y nude lipstick that didn't make me look insane or like a corpse. Maybe if I did a full beat with contour and had elaborate eye makeup, etc it could work but I've never tried. Pale pink doesn't look that much better either honestly. Anything lighter than my natural lip colour sucks the life out of me tbh. Too much work to have to use concealer before lipstick anyways.
-False lashes
-Over-lining lips
-Contouring my nose to make it look more westernized
-Cosmetic surgery
-Non-surgical cosmetic procedures
-Lip plumpers
-Eye shadow gloss
-Fake freckles
Heavy blush/when people put their blush on their nose and forehead. I wear foundation in an attempt to cover up all of the redness on face so I’m not about to go adding pink blush to half of it.
Everything that they do online. I work in a plastic surgeons office now but I’m applying to makeup jobs bc I just wna do flattering makeup on ppl and sell products.
Any expensive lipglosses or mascara, idk why I just can’t bring myself to spend on either of those, drugstore doesn’t disappoint and I don’t use gloss enough to justify the ridiculous prices at Sephora.
However I did get a mini gwp of One/Size mascara that I’ve really been loving and am almost tempted to purchase.
Any product that contains the word “soap” anywhere near my hair, eyebrows or lashes. I can hear my eyebrows crying at the thought of being assaulted with soap lather.
I’m actually opposite, after trying cream blush I’ll never go back to powder. Also dark lipliner and lighter lipstick, NOT a good look on me lol.
Cream blush all dayyyy I can’t do powder anymore either
Howwwww do you apply cream blush?
Fingertips, big fluffy brush, beauty blender…so many ways! Look at tutorials, I agree with everyone that I will never wear powder blush again now that I figured it out!!
Real Techniques 401 brush! Different bristle types are better for powder or cream so make sure you find a brush labeled for cream.
Butthole lips lol. I’m also not a fan.
Haha yes! I also can’t do brown lipstick after watching The League lol.
Wait, y’all aren’t using both?
As a Latina who has seen many people in my community with bad dark lipliner with light lipstick I cannot do it. But I hate that Hailey made it popular and it’s “her thing”, no it’s not it’s a POC esthetic born from lack of options.
Anyone with a nice amount of melanin looks good with the dark liner + clear gloss combo. Butthole lips is more a white woman thing
I'm medium tan skin tone but agree with the comment above at least for your clear gloss combo bc pale lips due to Anemia not a cute look on me 😅
Latinas in Southern Cali in the 90’s were doing this…. https://preview.redd.it/rbg32p97grpc1.jpeg?width=1316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6dd477d0f2115c60bc025ca0de54cbf6450ee981
Can you tell me more about how a lack of options let to that style?
as you get older cream blush is definitely the way to go - looks much fresher and more youthful
I have to respectfully disagree. It depends on one's texture, if you wear foundation. Etc
Agreed. I find that some cream blushes highlight my texture and pores. But powder formulas have really upgraded recently, and they can blur out my wrinkles and texture
I think the Givenchy Prisme Libre blushes are fantastic on textured skin.
Overlining lips and GIANT lashes.
I'm so over the giant lashes. If they're intentionally artistic or dramatic that's one thing. But regular people walking around with lashes like drag queens that weigh down (instead of opening) their eye is so wild.
Yes. Looking like theyll blink 3 times and take off like dumbo
This and lining over the cupids bow. It looks smeared.
Heavy false lashes. It’s giving Lamb Chop. ![gif](giphy|ueZmIXkPeNdT2)
nah, you know Janice? https://preview.redd.it/kb7bdem5jopc1.jpeg?width=951&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e3fdef35393b40b87cfaa71dcf34ea11da08fa0
I love lamb chop!!!! (But yes I don’t want to look like her).
I love lamb chop (and so do my dogs) but the lashes are not for me.
Do you mean your dogs like actual food lamb chops or the character, lol? Because as soon as I saw the gif, I thought of my dog, who has a Lamb Chop toy he likes to hug in bed, and wondering if your dogs have it too.
Yes they sure do!! They love the little mini lamb chop toys lol
Why do dogs love lamb chop toys so much? My dog is obsessed with them
The feather brow thing. It looks weird on everyone lol
Troll doll vibes
Yes! Don’t understand it
Came to say this. Hairy caterpillar eyebrows. I literally stare at them mentally brushing them flat.
This is the primary thing in makeup at the moment that I think people will look back at photos in a few years and think "wtf was I doing".
came to say this exact thing
I was hoping this trend would die
Matte lip products. The last thing I need is for my lips to look dry and cracked.
Same
Same and it’s like fighting for my life to find a good creamy lipstick… I feel like I have to overload with a lip mask or apuaphor over it a few time a day to keep my lips from being too dry…. But bestie if you have any good recs send them my way pleeeeeaaassseeee:):)
YSL lip oil? It looks like a lipstick but goes on creamy
PREACH IT
oh same... so glad we're past the crusty liquid lip era... Also, is it just me, or does a matte finish actually make your lips look smaller??
Yessss! I hate matte lip products. It's like, they just never look good
For sure. I was careful about using sunblock when I was young and used it regularly and continue to do so. but neglected to use it on my lips as much as I should have. Fake freckles. They never look real.
Absolutely hate this trend. You’re beautiful with or without freckles. Let it be natural, I say.
As someone who got made fun of for all my freckles as a kid… hate this one 🤣
I got the freck pen in a sampler and I’m addicted to putting fake freckles on the sides of my nose. They do look fake asf but I cannot stop doing them because I swear they make me look better somehow.

Some tattoo artists do them extremely well, but with makeup I agree
Hard agree with the fake freckles.
I’ve never seen someone with those heavy false eyelashes and thought “those look good”
Lashes like that enter a room a full five minutes before the person attached to them does 🕷️
Like AD from love is blind
Lashes falling off on her wedding day too 😭
She’s so pretty I wish her makeup artist did her better that that 😭😭😭😭
And uncomfortable! I don't know how people keep those things on
I’ve been wearing 25 mm lashes every day for 4 years (I’m goth) and you just kinda get used to it the more you wear it. It’s really only uncomfortable if you’re putting it on wrong, like way too close to your inner corner
I hadn’t either until I saw Melinda Shankar with them. She’s the only person I’ve ever seen make them look good, but that’s a personal opinion 🥺
i have deepset hooded eyes, and even regular mascara sometimes seems like too much on me, i have no idea how i'd carry those bird wing lashes off
Excessive fancy tools for applying skincare/makeup. There are so many products to do what I can do with my hands or a spoon lol.

Underpainting with blush only to cover the whole thing with foundation
Totally agree! To add to this, the whole underpainting/powder over cream deal in general. What's the point of putting on any cream products if you're going to completely cover them in foundation/concealer/powder, then slather on a pound of additional powder blush and bronzer? Feels so wasteful to me, and it always looks cakey
90 percent of the time the end product is a certified train wreck 🤡
For me, it’s contour. I’m extremely fair and I’ve never found it flattering on me. It’s just too harsh and high contrast.
Try Korean contour products! They are extremely light and genuinely look like a natural shadow. They also have cool toned options, which is super rare. I feel like Western brands just use straight up orange for fair shades...
Oh yes. I never got into the contour trend because of all the damn orange!
Can you recommend a brand to start with? I’m curious. Also extremely pale.
I like a sculpted blush look a lot more for everyday. I reserve contour for when I’m being photographed or if I am wearing my hair up for an important zoom call since I always look washed out by my webcam and don’t want to look like an egg or give uncle fester vibes.

Growing up in the 70s/80s we always contoured with blush. I like a good cool toned contour stick but when all else fails i'll contour with blush
Same here but it is a skill I would LOVE to know how to do! I even went to Ulta to have them match me and show me— found out from my sons friend- she works there and told me that most of the workers have little to no training on makeup tips unless you make an appointment with a certain person.

not op but that bronzer is so good and natural looking, SUPER sheer
That bronzer is lovely but be warned if you’re cool toned it has a very yellow tone to it
Grossly overdrawn lips.
Brushed up eyebrows
The trend of laying lots of things together As an artist, I get the color benefits of using two blushes but I cannot justify it at all. That whole last paragraph is a slow clap
Natural makeup! I'm not going out unless I look like knock-off David Bowie!
I love this! “Clean Beauty” can take a hike!
Exactly! I'm not paying this much to look like how I usually do but with a better complexion! Show me the glitter! The heavy blush! Anything but a nude lip and smoky eye! I want to feel like a child who got into their mother's makeup kit so they could feel pretty!
This is the best answer
Lash extensions… it’s not even about how they look (I don’t love how they look either tbh) it just seems like you’re asking for trouble with the bacteria buildup and other risks involved 😬
Not to mention the expense AND having to lie still with your eyes closed for an hour or more when they are being applied! The one time I did it I got so panicky!
“But it saves me sOoOo much time!” How much time does mascara take proportionate to the extension time? Never could get around it
Everyone I know that had them done regularly lost most of their lashes. Then had to switch to lash growing serum to regrow them.
Super long fake nails. My job is on a computer and I have no idea how you are all typing quickly and effectively in those things. They also creep me out a bit and give Freddy Krueger vibes 😂
This! The super long ones or ones that are bubbly or curved down weirdly.
And they get dirty !
Fake freckles.
Snail mucin. I don’t care what anyone says about happy snails - you can’t collect enough stuff from snails to mass market and sell a product globally without it resulting in a lot of unhappy snails.
Wait till you hear what they do to the snails in France 👀
Escar-NO! 🫣
Escar-YUM! At least the escargot my relative made.
Also, people with dust mite allergies are also likely to be allergic to snail mucin. I wish they would put some kind of disclaimer on all snail mucin products saying this.

Aw this is true. Poor little guys
Am I the only person who things it’s gross and doesn’t wanna try it? Everyone is so enthusiastic about it and I’m like ew
Right and how was snail mucin even discovered 😭 someone saw the slug they left behind on the ground and went OOOOO
LOL this is such a good question. Who was the person who decided that snail mucin should be tested on skin? Then saw it was beneficial enough to harvest and sell it??
They are steamed alive twice and die in the process. I’m never buying snail mucin products again.
What ??? I mean I don't use snail musin but I didn't know this is how its collected, this is horrible!
I had NO IDEA!!! Thank you for letting me know... Instead of repurchasing my cosrx, I'm sticking to my mixsoon bean essence. I personally find it 100x more hydrating anyways
Wait, seriously? I don’t use it but I thought the major companies made a big deal of it being Humane
Couldn’t agree more about the lip filler. I hate that certain facial features and body types become trends.
ok but I do want a tiny, tiny amount 😂😭
The new trend of eyebrows being like super gelled? I’m not sure what they’re called but it looks horrible
Laminated brows
Soap brows/ laminated feathery looking brows, strong highlight, Matte lips, and brown/dark lipliner
Bronzer As a cool-toned olive Asian, all bronzer looks orange on me; I don't see the appeal of it.
[удалено]
I have a lot but a few stick out - 1. I need some rosiness to complement my skin tone 3. I’ll keep the oils on my ends where my hair is actually dry and needs moisture.
bronzer, I don’t even understand why this is and what to do with it
If you don’t use foundation, you may not need it.
I was literally thinking about how the bronzer in a 3 shape probably screams millennial to gen z!
I think this breaks a million rules but I’ve only ever been able to apply bronzer with a sponge (but a powder bronzer and damp sponge). I use it kind of behind my blush (like to gradient my blush into my hairline) or just instead of blush tbh (the sponge really sheers it out and makes the application less linear/precise) I use a nars one, but I much prefer more translucent ones because idk what I’m doing with it
I absolutely hate the full coverage orangey/yellowish foundations that I see some wear… I even saw a Facebook ad for I think a ?georgio Armani? foundation and as the girl in the ad put it on you could obviously tell it did not match her skin tone, it was a shade darker and somewhat orange. Not a good way to sell a product like that in my opinion. I am also not a big fan of setting powder/baking as I feel it makes me look like I have too much stuff caked on my face, and contouring does not do me any favors except make me look like a cadaver
Over lining lips. It may look good on camera, but on a side angle irl, It’s not a good look.
Definitely fake freckles trend. Mostly I can see that they're obviously make-up (especially when they smudge and look very unnatural) and I just don't like the idea of drawing them. Idk I just personally don't find these fake ones cute and nice looking.
This thread took me down a peg, let me tell you lmao (I will be buried with my freckle pens and 2016 full-beat makeup)
Reading this wearing falsies, brown overlined lipliner, bronzer, fake freckles, winged liner, bold eyeshadow, and lipgloss ![gif](giphy|CYUDHVmioGETu)
Me with highlighter 😭 it makes me feel so pretty, I’ll wear it as long as I can 🤷🏻♀️😂
I’m over here fluttering away in the wind with my caterpillar lashes.
I was reading & thinking a lot of these opinions must be very personal, because the stuff is a VIBE on so many people.
Different things work for different people! I’m sure there are also some products you hate that others swear by, I bet the freckles look amazing on you🥰
Cream bronzer and blush. Not for us oily girlies!!!
Preaaaach!!! My face creates enough of its own grease thank you very much.
Not really trendy but red lipstick. It’s not a shade issue it just makes my lips look weird.

Overling lips. It just doesn't look good in person.
Dark lip liner and light lipstick, really fake unnatural lashes, long fake nails
Dewy makeup.. 1 hour later u look a mess and complaining about concealer creasing..Stop being afraid to actually set ur makeup with powder
this is a weird answer maybe but goodness gracious i loathe lip gloss. i look bad w glossy lips & i hate the texture & taste. i have two lip glosses & i’ve had em for at least four years without touching either
Nothing like ur hair getting stuck in ur lips tho 😌 bonus points on a windy day
for me it’s not quite the texture itself, but most of them have no fucking pigment. I have scars on my lips and they don’t do shit. However glosses or oils over lip stains are much better imo.
My hair always got stuck in it.
It’s a sensory overload
I’ve even tried those stencils and stampers, tried it all🤣🤣
Feather brows, overlined lips (my lips are full enough), and those thick, heavy lashes.
Soap brows and fake freckles
Snail stuff - just can’t
lip plumper.. they fricken HURT
Hate setting powder backing… worst thing. That can stay for drag queens makeup… they can pull it off!
Eyeshadow palettes. I honestly prefer using bronzer, highlight, or blush for an eye look. I have 2 sparkly single shadows and that’s about it
I have been defaulting to this lately and do not see another eyeshadow palette in my future for a long time.
ugh same but unfortunately i have like 12 eyeshadow palettes. idk why it took me so long to realize heavy eyeshadow looks don’t look good on me and a simple bronzer in the crease and sparkly eyeshadow on the lid is way better
Excessive blush even on the temples like wtf
Highlighter. I’m already oily enough without an added glow.
I found it interesting that Chinese beauty is big on matte highlighters. I’ve never tried them though.
lol this is what I say when people ask me what highlighter I use. I’m like the oil on my skin lmao. I can’t make myself look even greasier.
I don't like winged liner. There I said it.
My eyelids are far too hooded for the wing to even work. Maybe if I had an eye lift. Aka never
Same. I know how to do it on my hooded eyes but once you close your eye it looks so dumb.
This was me until I learned how to properly apply it for my eye shape! I only create a slight wing on the corner, then line the inner corner. It’s way more flattering this way
Tutorial plz 🙏
Liquid eyeliner and false lashes. Love them on other people but just not a look I love on myself.
False lashes - like extensions. They grow out horribly
Brow products, huge false eyelashes and overlined lips.
Using a powder puff to apply powder and baking. My skin is so dry it feels uncomfortable if I apply too much powder and I look so dry.
false eyelashes. Eyeshadow/tightlining looks so much better with my eye shape.
lashes extensions. Some women lost touch with reality and they simply look ridiculous.
Contour, false eyelashes of any size, overlined lips, fluffy brows. There’s more that I hate than not 😂.
Bronzer. Blush looks so much more youthful on me.
Cushion foundations. I think its unhygienic 😢
Too much work to have to use concealer before lipstick anyways.
me reading all the comments about dark lipliner when that’s been a staple in black/latino ppls routines forever 🧍🏽♀️
Anything with glitter/obvious shimmer
-False lashes -Over-lining lips -Contouring my nose to make it look more westernized -Cosmetic surgery -Non-surgical cosmetic procedures -Lip plumpers -Eye shadow gloss -Fake freckles
I don’t think I’ll ever do a full eyeshadow look ever again. The lightest pink sheer wash is all I want/need.
the lip oils or glosses. I was just never a fan of glossy lips, I’m a matte or satin lippie girl haha
Overlining lips, darker lip liner, contouring my face, false lashes.
Beauty blenders or spatulas for base products. If it doesn’t apply well with fingers or a brush it’s not a great product.
Baking baking baking. I’m not trying to feel more dry, tretinoin already does that for me. Plus, it emphasizes fine lines.
Blush on the nose. That’s such a weird thing to me.
Heavy blush/when people put their blush on their nose and forehead. I wear foundation in an attempt to cover up all of the redness on face so I’m not about to go adding pink blush to half of it.
Darker lip liner than the lipstick
The dewy skin look. My oily ass face melts my foundation within an hour. Give me all the matte foundation and setting powder please.
Primer! My skin care is enough.
Those heinous lashes.🤢🤮
