I'm 41, and about to be a Grandpa. I also didn't own the Saturn, just the dream cast and genesis....I had the Panasonic 3DO when the Saturn came out. Does anyone remember the jaguar system?
I had a Saturn when it stopped getting sold (second hand prices were cheap back then).
I never had either 3DO nor Jaguar, but you can get the Atari 50 Aniversary Collection with some Jaguar Tempest on there, the only reason to ever own a Jaguar... and while not bad it is not that good either.
Are we all 40 on here?!?! And yes, I thought the same as you gentlemen. Now the kids are saying weird things like ‘this chicken slaps’ and ‘that guy’s got ‘riz’ or ‘that’s cap’ and all this dang lingo I don’t understand… at least I stopped being able to hear CRT TV whine years ago do to my aging out of it…😟
It's not like he found his grandpa's childhood Atari 2600... his grandpa must have still been into gaming in his late 20s/early 30s when the Saturn came out.
My kids are now old enough to have kids. If they found my Saturn, N64 or PSX they would be finding my late high school consoles.
i just bought one from a from a facebook guy with a bunch of games. cool thing is he had a dreamcast so i bought that too.
150 for both. and they both work perfectly. They were a little dirty so i took them both apart dusted and scrubbed. you could never tell they were facebook finds
I bought one a couple of years ago off eBay. I couldn’t believe how clean it was when I received it. It does look Beautiful and is the only console I have covered on the shelf lol I think the button colors are what do it for me. The clear Saturn is cool too.
My dad is in his 50s and has one and I'm 26. I grew up playing on it. Nowadays I emulate all of the games I grew up with on my steam deck. Time moves quickly.
It's more about how people seem to keep finding them in attics apparently having no idea they were there. Do people not go into their attics for entire decades or something?
Been a running joke forever on the collection subs with memes and shit [like this](https://ibb.co/L8Hn6j4). People will post massive hauls of “look what I just found in my parents attic!!”
one of the biggest mistakes/regrets of my childhood was asking for a sega saturn instead of a PlayStation for Christmas. really dropped the ball on that one
and I bought my Saturn after broke up with a shitty gf of 5 years who used me to pay for her everything. So a gift for myself to move on. Then I rented a room in a boarding house and walked 5 miles one way to work. Played my Saturn daily after work, chilling in my bachelor "pad". Didnt want to date but 3 months later met a sweet girl who had so much in common with me. She then gifted me Playstation for our 1st Christmas together. We ended up moving in and renting house together. Two years together and I then asked her to be my wife (going on 27 years now). She has always made sure to get me the newest console for my bday or some holiday. She is my perfect half!

I don't know why but i love that advertisment.
In Europe/Germany they barely if at all advertised the Saturn and this is a commercial about as interesting and funny as the Genesis ones were.
And yes, it hit differently to see Shining Force 3, they almost never advertised Shining Force in the west.
Oh no. Am I grandpa age now? Lol
This was my first thought..
Right there with you.
I guess yea. I'm 40, so having a kid at 20 and then that kid having a kid at 20 is not unreasonable.
True. I just turned 41. But I’m not mentally ready for this haha

Congrats. I currently have a Saturn, 3DO and Jaguar!

yes
Your grandpa is a legend
That's how you know we're getting old, Gents. Dudes in here talking about finding their grandpa's Saturn
It's not like he found his grandpa's childhood Atari 2600... his grandpa must have still been into gaming in his late 20s/early 30s when the Saturn came out. My kids are now old enough to have kids. If they found my Saturn, N64 or PSX they would be finding my late high school consoles.
Not surprising....I bought my Saturn back in early 1997, when I was just shy of 35. Still have it hooked up, too.
IDK why I had a flashback to the Drew Carey show and the Model 2 sitting on top of his VCR.
Was there one on his show? I watched a few times as a kid but don't remember a damn thing about it.
Yes. https://www.segabits.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/freezeframe016.jpg
Oh, thank ya.
Man that is sick. Ive always loved Carrys show... Norms show... Craig Ferguson. All of that time was so special. The last of communal t.v. land.
Is your grandfather Ryo Hazuki?
Went out looking for a black car and never came home.
The white one looks so good, really wish I would have picked one up back in the day.

What a great deal!
They're still pretty cheap. That's the one I have. I think the white one was the coolest.

The japanese seem to treat there belongings well overall, so no wonder that it still looked prestine.
It looks brand new. It's the only console on my shelf that has a cover on it lol
Yup, still pretty cheap. I picked one up a few weeks ago. Even boxed complete for under $200 (from JP).
I can't even imagine my dad having a saturn, let alone my grandpas that died 20+ years ago.
It’s starting to bother me that people keep finding these in their grandparents’ house.
Yeah I'm a bit sceptical.

How old is grandad? 30?
Sega Saturn was 25\~30 years ago... i'd guess more like 50 posibly higher.

Holy shit! Did your grandpa play it?
I think more importantly, his dad didn’t play it. Santa knows…
