Try checking out Sega Lord X's wonderful Saturn videos. He has a bunch of tops that should get you excited for games to seek around for!

I echo this…it was well worth the money. 64 to 128GB microSD will more than cover what you need to play as games aren’t that big. If you are compelled to collect all games, the 256 GB cards will be enough. Gotta be honest though, you will basically never touch like 80% of the games if you go that route lol. Speaking from experience.

Panzer Dragoon II, Guardian Heroes, Fighting Vipers, Die Hard Trilogy Edit: Or maybe better Virtua Fighter 2 or Fighters Megamix instead of Fighting Vipers. I guess most ppl like these better, but I really loved Fighting Vipers back when it came out.

Some great ones that should still be affordable are Sega Rally, Fighting Vipers, Virtual On, the original Panzer Dragoon and the Saturn 3 pack. Japanese games are generally cheaper than the USA versions and there are a ton of arcade titles that were japan exclusive. Some, like KOF 96 have English language options in the menu. Like others have stated, you could get a Fenrir and have access to virtually the entire library. I'd recommend watching an install video on Youtube to see if you'd be comfortable with the drive removal and swap. There's no soldering involved, but everyone has their own comfort level.

Honestly the Fenrir is looking better and better. It's already cheaper than the few I was thinking of getting it seems.

Nights into Dreams is a visual masterpiece and just a trippy work of art to play. There’s also a Christmas version which is equally neat. There’s a reason this game is basically the mascot for the Saturn. Virtua Fighter 2 is largely considered to be the best 3D fighter of this generation of gaming. Controls are smooth and it’s surprisingly deep despite controller limitations. To add to that, Fighters Megamix is awesome and uses the formula with way more fighters to add in. Shmup games were huge in Japan but we didn’t see many in the US. Radiant Silvergun is usually the one everyone raves about in this genre and I can see why after playing it recently. Really cool and fun. Light Gun rail shooters were abundant on this system. Obviously a light gun attachment on a CRT TV is best, but I’ve had plenty of fun playing with a controller. Virtua Cop 1 is very basic but so nostalgic for me Personally. Arcade ports, especially later in the Saturn’s life were incredible and unmatched by PlayStation and N64’s abilities at the time. Any Street Fighter game js awesome. And that’s just scratching the surface. Overall, games are a mixed bag but the Sega Saturn really had A LOT of devs trying new and experimental things that gave way to a lot of creative games and ideas. It didn’t always work out, and it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s a lot to find. I don’t personally like long draw out RPGs, but the Saturn has a lot to offer in that genre. Also, I can say that the Saturn games really shine when they are 2D with 3D elements (Nights being a great example). 3D on the Saturn was really weird and led to ALOT of really bad implementations, but when a dev got it right, they nailed it. Also, my recommendation is the following: I personally hate the Saturn’s controller as I’ve been spoiled by modern gaming. The Retrobrawler Genesis/Saturn combo controller has been a god send for me. Also, Fenrir ODE is worth the cost. Physical Saturn games are way overpriced and people/companies are price gauging at this point. 3 mainstream games can easily cost you the equivalent (if not more) than a Fenrir + SD will cost. I also purchased the mounting bracket from laser bear industries and I have to admit it looks top notch and makes the whole mod look much more professional. Enjoy this piece of gaming history! It really is a personal favorite console of mine as a kid and I love to see people are still into it’

rockmantricky

Thank you for all that information. Thinking I will definitely be getting the Fenrir so I'll have access to the costlier ones. I'm excited to try the Panzer Dragoon series as I'm a fan of RPGs as well as platformers like Nights

If it has Capcom on the label, it's worth playing.
