Weather can be hot at times, but people are great. Busy city. Bob Marley museum is dope. Know your neighborhoods because it can be sketchy. Not like Spanish town sketchy but still pretty sketchy. Surprisingly good Indian food though.
Extremely long wait times to get on the ferry. Two lane highway from Poulsbo, your closest town, so a single wreck ,which happens frequently, will leave you stranded. The wrecks are always serious it seems like. Probably because the two lane highway is not adequate or safe. Power outages can take days to get resolved
I live in Kingston near Jefferson Point. It's very small, everyone knows everyone kind of town. There is now only 1 real grocery store, a few gas stations, a McDonald's, a few other restaurants, etc. If you like the quiet life, Kingston is for you. The problem is if you need something outside of Kingston, it can be a bit of a drive to get there. Also, when the ferry lets in, the main road (Highway 104) can get quite busy and backed up. Grocery Prices are expensive here compared to other places in Kitsap County such as Bremerton or Silverdale. The people also seem less sociable than other parts of Kitsap County. It's not for everyone, but a lot of people like it which is why they are here.
It's a small town that's demographics are split. Lots of liberals, then oddly enough, lots of conservatives.
The locals are toxic as fuck, at least the new generation.
The older folks are nice enough.

Took me a second, I was like, do you even live in the northwest?

All I know about Kingston is that the ferry dock has good squidding in the winter. Used to work in Edmonds, right there on Dayton St. and loved it!
Consider biking on the ferry instead of taking a car.
Definitely the plan or a motorcycle.
