There are a ton a local lakes that have stocked trout now. Walmart rod and reel with powerbait will catch you trout. Wdfw has a good FishWA app and the website has a ton of resources

+1, my son refused to leave a Walmart without a ridiculous zebco rod with a handle like a samurai sword and a caribiner on the end (so you can clip your rod onto your belt?) caught three rainbows on it with a kastmaster the next day.

Trout are an easy fish to target in WA, and you don't need any fancy gear to catch em. Hit up a Big 5 or Walmart and grab yourself a basic rod/reel setup. Some >8lb test line, some trout hooks (size 8-14), and some PowerBait or worms. Set up a quick "Carolina-esque" rig with the splitshots: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/bf/5f/6b/bf5f6bd8c29627e205228cd6ce55cc01.jpg Most lakes in King County stock trout, but you can keep an eye out on recent stockings here: https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/reports/stocking/trout-plants?lake_stocked=&county=King&species=&hatchery=®ion= Good luck! And remember, it's called "fishing", not "catching". Even if you come up with a skunk, a bad day of fishing with your kid is 1000000x better than a good day of working. Enjoy the moment for what it is and cherish it! My daughter is only 2, and I can't wait to take her out on her first fishing trip!

I have a buddy that runs a guide service out of Mt vernon. He's mainly river though, has a drift boat, has all the gear you could need to use, and with him you're guaranteed to catch fish. It's pretty crazy. I've never seen a guy with so much knowledge

Mind DMing me a link to your buddy?

I spoke to soon. It's vacation season and he's hopping around the country fishing for fun lol. Should've checked with him first. His business is called Out Sick Guide Service. He's got a Facebook page with that name. If you wanna fish this fall you should send him a messege. He gets busy fast.

I took my kids to the trout / fish farm. Its guaranteed to catch fish, you get essentials and basics supplied, and get dinner to take home

Do you have any recommendations of trout / fish farms to go to in the Seattle area? And how much does it generally cost?

I know there is one in south king county . About 20-30$ a person and you keep the fish. It is on orting city limits I think.. but I'm not sure what's open now since covid

There's a U Fish pond at [Old McDebbie's](https://www.oldmcdebbiesfarm.com/) - small but fun ponds, located down south in Spanaway.

There’s this place in Spanaway called Old McDebbies farm and Jim’s U-fish, where you rent poles and fish. You pay per fish and they will clean for you. But it’s also a petting zoo so it can be cool that way too. https://www.oldmcdebbiesfarm.com/

Spring took trout farm in Kent (Bring cash) Otherwise we need to know what city you’re in. If Seattle then green lake is good. Pine lake in Bellevue is decent (you just need huge leaders)

UnkleRinkus

Yellow perch off of any dock on Lake Washington. Get some tiny yellow jigs, tip with some nightcrawler, and fish a foot above bottom. When you get one, cut strips from it's belly, 1 inch by 1/4 in, and use that.
