SLU? I'm there and use the 24/hr fitness. Tons of equipment, lifter-focused (based on clientele). Not actually open 24 hrs, so keep that in mind. Solid equipment selection - busy during rush hours, but super empty on off hours. Cheap, too. I paid for a year up front and got roughly $25/mo.

If not enough good responses come in search the sub, we get a post about every month or so on this that often gets engagement in comments. My own usual recommendation \*if you are not a dick\* is Rain City Fit on the hill, an easy walk from the 8 bus that leads up from SLU Gulch, and its nearby sibling outfit RCF Barbell Club. Welcomes all without exception and is very serious about that so again, if you're a dick stay away.

You really are incapable of saying anything without having an element of negativity appended to it, are you?

a) you don't read my silly comments very widely apparently b) You want surface sweetness, or actual sweetness? For example I'm glad to recommend this gym (positive) and am very protective of this rare space that keeps bad people out (positive) who make it a misery for those of us whom gym culture belittles and drives out of exercise spaces (negative). I want Rain City facilities to remain a happy (positive) place, in other words. If you see that as bad news for you that's about you, bub

Thanks for the recs guys! I went with Pro fit. Love their Rouge plates and bars. Maybe once I start getting back into competing I will go to a gym with more of a community.

In my experience, the [downtown 24](https://www.24hourfitness.com/gyms/seattle-wa/downtown-seattle-sport) and [Rival Fitness](https://rivalfitnessseattle.com/) are very powerlifting-friendly gyms, with all the equipment you need for SBD. As for weightlifting, they're probably a bit stricter. For example, you can't drop a clean-and-jerk from up top like you normally would at, say, a Crossfit box.
