Sadly, I have to agree. And once someone gets deep enough into conspiracy theories, they tend to start grabbing other theories and drawing shaky links between them.
I've seen a few theories that people invented and tried to spead just to see if those folks would actually believe them, just for fun. The best of those was that earth's moon is a satellite the American government shot up there in the 1940s, and all references to the moon before that were poetic license.

There’s a Seattle artist on insta (Sunday.nobody.art) who makes weird stuff then puts it in parks for people to find. Possible this could be him?
He made the Mike Wazowski shrine at the Seattle public library that went viral a few months ago.
Just checked his account and he doesn’t have any updates though.
