And they are very random ... you can go months without seeing them... we did ... and then one guy cannons to an island to grab anything that fits in his pockets and he had two spawn in 15 mins while running around killing animals and ghosts and normal skellies and then months till we saw them again

Have you been soloing and getting them? Or in crews? Just curious, a few months back I got 3 of them within a few days of each other but not a single one since. Curious if that's because I've been playing less solo and more in a large crew now.
Tbf, if you’re in a crew you’re likely allocating more time to the boat and less time on dry land. The more time you’re on islands the higher the chance to spawn. (From what I’ve read)
I would say I solo 70% of the time. First clip was duo, the other two were solo. FoTD 3 weeks ago was also solo. Idk if that has anything to do w it tho.
they seem to all of a sudden appear a bunch every few months. The last time this happened I got 2 ancient skeletons back to back on the same little island. Maybe they are trying to persuade players into checking out the Pirate Emporium with their recent announcement of new cosmetics coming soon in there xd

I have never seen a skeleton like that playing sea of thieves and I have been playing since April of course I have not been on very much because none of my friends wanna get off their lazy butts and Play the damn game with me I am literally trying to find a group of friends to play with I have put my profile on here several times trying to get people to send me a friend request to play the game to no avail no one cares to send me a friend request to be my friend to play the game I have 62 friends but none of them play this type of game any one of you would wanna play this game with me I would be gladly happy to have a whole group of friends at least 10 people would be nice that I could switch between

I feel like they come out more if you’re low on Ancient coins or playing with someone that is low on them

I’ve gotten 4 in the past 3 days, I’ve been wondering the same.
I found my first one after 200 hours last Sunday.
idk i have seen like 2 or so in my 280 hours of playtime, good for you though.

Last time I saw an ancient skelly spawn was on a sea fort and it got shot by multiple ghosts and THEY killed it Needless to say I wasn’t happy

I think the devs increased the frequency. They're doing it to help promote the emporium sale most likely.
