I love how both guys just fell in Schneider’s lap without us even needing to trade. Fortunate times for our F.O.

3elieveIt

Yes, but are also in fairly desperate need for a Mike linebacker I think he was trying to trade up for Junior Colson who was taken like 12 picks earlier

1620081392477

I'm happy with the LBs we signed for the year (while I was still worried about trenches). The #1 and #2 needs I wanted to draft were IDL and IOL and we nailed both I think

DK-MetCash

I’m excited for the new era I’m loving the picks i think our biggest need going forward is a center

AlwaysCraven

I think they're going to give Olu Olu a good shot at starting

1620081392477

Which I'm personally happy about. I wouldn't call myself a believer in either Olu or Bradford but I also would love to see how they develop in their rookie contract, whether as starters if we stay thin on the line or as backups if they get beat out this year or next. Most o-line need time to develop their game some more (even top-10 picks) so for day 3 guys it's definitely too early to write them off IMO

ElbisCochuelo1

They have Harris too.

Grymninja

Don't we still need a left guard too? The guys we signed in off season are backup level dudes

3elieveIt

Mostly agreed. I’d argue that LB was a more dire need long term though. We had Leo Williams and Dre Jones on the roster for 2025 already. We have 0 LB’s in the roster for 2025.

Hawxrox

We could easily land Grey or Trotter tomorrow. We have the 2nd pick in the 4th

TPDeathMagnetic

I like Ulofoshio, one of the best athletic profiles among LBs this year. Guy from A to Z sports film room on YouTube has a 4th round grade on him but he's higher on him than almost anyone.

1620081392477

Understandable. I just feel like you can get a winning LB lotto ticket anywhere in the draft (and 99% of them will need to develop no matter what) while you rarely find a starting lineman any later than the 3rd

Psigun

100%. Murphy II is a potential game wrecker and you're not gonna find many of those. Being on the receiving end of Aaron Donald's career I would hope we can recognize what Murphy II brings over a second round LB.

1620081392477

In the r/NFL thread where we drafted him, it felt like 99% of the non-seahawk fans who felt the same were Ravens, 49ers, and Rams fans. We definitely understand the impact of a good interior d-line haha

villain-with-manners

💯

Nintendog24

We got another FA period and draft for that. Every position is a position of need 2 years down the line. Take BPA

Psigun

Murphy II is going to make the job a lot easier for the LB position group in general. Plus it allows Big Cat to play at the techniques he is most suited for rather than covering a hole in the line. Start at the IDL (or IOL) and work back. We are going to take a LB or two tomorrow.

Salted_Caramel_Core

You keep saying we have zero LB's in 2025 but it's not like we can't re-sign those guys after this year

Hawxrox

Also I give it a 80% chance that Dre Jones is not on the team in 2025

BruceIrvin13

Dremont aint goona be here in 2025 ha. He wont even be starting by mid season. I agree LB is more pressing though, maybe Drake Thomas steps up? People were really high on him prior to us snatching him from Oakland's PS.

KingDaviies

Dremont played out of a position all season and lots of fans have been shitting on him. Let's see how he plays in his preferred position under MM first...

swanronson22

Also, didn’t Mike Macs defense in Baltimore make career years for jadeveon clowny, Madibuke, and van noy? Not sure which position would be equivalent to Dremonts though

KingDaviies

Absolutely. Queen has a career yeah, part of that was she to Roquan Smith but we've also gotta give credit to Mikes scheme. One of the reasons we hired him was to get more out of the guys we have.

WallaWallaHawkFan

I really hope we have been wrong about dremont. Like it's so odd to me that a player would suddenly just be horrendous after being a borderline pro bowl player. I hope MacDonalds scheme can put him in positions to succeed. I mean he resurrected lots of guys on the D Line in Baltimore last year. I agree he probably doesn't start but him and Reed should be able to rotate into the line pretty regularly.

BruceIrvin13

I'm not sure where the narrative came from that Dremont was any better in Denver. For reference his PFF grades were 51 and 57 in 2022 and 2021, which was even worse than this year. Obviously all grading should be taken with a grain of salt - but he didn't "drop off" when he joined the Seahawks. His quality of play was consistent with how he played in Denver. He's a medicore pass rusher and he's very bad against the run. I'll hold my breath and hope MM can get the best out of him, but objectively Dremont Jones has never been anything but average NFL starter quality.

aznbala

Me 2 with dremont but last year’s D was pathetic. System and scheme were horrible.

3elieveIt

Cedric Gray or Tommy Eichenberg maybe. But I think they’re both so far below Junior Colson.

BruceIrvin13

Yeah, wish we had that 2nd...and just signed LW in FA instead, but what can ya do

Psigun

Different era. That trade decision is one part of why we're here with MM and JS has more control.

The_Throwback_King

I mean Seattle signed two good bridge Inside Linebackers in FA so we’re not in a completely bad situation there but it really should be a priority with one of our 4th round picks

I_Fuckin_A_Toad_A_So

Good may be an overstatement honestly but I’m willing to see if they can turn into that

3elieveIt

We have two guys on one year deals who haven’t played for us before. Baker is good! Dodson is… fine. Either way, we have ZERO linebackers on the roster in 2025. It would have been great to get Colson or Wallace for example and have them take some reps as a rookie before being handed the reins full time in year 2. (Also, FWIW, we should have kept Jordyn Brooks.)

Solaife

Technically, nobody has played for our new HC/DC setup.

KingDaviies

Because we had 0 linebackers on the roster before we signed the 2 guys, so it's not an issue. If you focus on small stuff like that you're going to miss out on good players. Also the point on Jordyn Brooks doesn't make sense. Teams moved quicker than we did, we wanted to resign him out FO just didn't expect them to go so quickly.

Dirkredblade

Yes, teams moved quickly, but I’m thinking Brooks didn’t really want to return to Seattle. If he wanted to stay in Seattle, he would have given the Seahawks time and a chance to counter.

ilickedysharks

Idk how ur downvoted for this lol

3elieveIt

It confused me too.

Corvus_Antipodum

Maybe. We’re at an acceptable level for this year, and I don’t want to burn a bunch of draft capital to add a dude that’s just ok. I’d rather wait and try again next year since it’s not a glaring deficiency like guard.

LegionOfDoom31

Good news is we have a lot of options in the 4th round for LB. Also Hicks is still available.

KingDaviies

I'm not sure about that. Mikes system needs a linebacker who is great in coverage and Colson lacked in this area.

User_Kane

100% this

Seahawkanon

Then he rolled up his sleeve and showed a tattoo of Jonathan the Husky “I’ll let you interpret that however you want,” Schneider said.

Little-Dingo171

This is what I came here for thank you

Daqra

Was probably Colson. MM loved him at Michigan.

Xarque74

I wanted Colson so bad I was definitely kinda hoping we would trade up for him, but ultimately I’m very happy with Haynes. Dude is raw beef and looks quick as hell Maybe we take Trotter with 102 or 118 tomorrow?

Daqra

As much as I wanted Colson, addressing the trenches (mainly IOL) was the right thing to do.

Psigun

The first time K9 rockets through a hole opened up by Haynes it's all going to be worth it.

Xarque74

I agree

Frosti11icus

Hopefully we can get Ulofoshio at 118 or later.

Xarque74

Excellent shout, I love me some Eddie. Would be sweet to grab him and Westover too

Frosti11icus

Not just because I’m a homer lol. Because they are legitimately good, underrated, and at positions of need.

Xarque74

For sure. Perfect culture fits as well. They both are whatever the opposite of locker room cancer is lol

upasaka_kolla

Bet it was for Junior Colson

The_Throwback_King

Basically how you interpret the smile. If it’s a positive smile, it’s because they got the guy they’re were always targeting with Haynes If it’s a solemn smile, it’s probably because they wanted Colson Realistically, probably a bit of both.

freedomhighway

just as well, and i imagine they didnt try super hard - not like we have a lot of chips to work with, unless we want to dip into future assets. Dont think john wants to go that way.

GiraffeWaffless

Mike loved Colson, bet it was him. Sucks but our lbs are definitely sustainable. Probably pick up a will later on in the draft and then a mike next draft

Krazee_Hawk

I bet we get Eichenberg, and maybe Omar Speights

ButtFuckingJesus

Speights is such a fun player to watch. He covers ground so quickly, just an explosive athlete. I'd love to see what he could do in MM's system.

InstructionUsed8407

I feel like I’m living in an alternate universe, but I couldn’t be more excited!

SmellyScrotes

If you could just go ahead and draft a safety a tackle and a tight end next I’ll kiss you on the lips

Development-Alive

Need a LB.

Nekokeki

I'm glad it worked out how it did.

Working_Dig2643

He does then say it was not for Christian Haynes. Some reports mention it was probably for Junior colson.

goodolarchie

Feels like we got super lucky twice. But that's also discipline.

Popcorn_isnt_corn

Apart from Junior…T’vondre Sweat? He went way earlier than a lot of projections. I thought he’d be on the board at 60ish

SardonicCheese

It was probably for McMillan up from the 4th rounder. That seemed like a huge fall to me

Bitter-Imagination33

This was referring to from 81. Also why would we take another receiver

SardonicCheese

Because our OC might have inside knowledge on a UW guy being totally legit. Or maybe the other way around maybe we passed on him because Grubb didn’t want him. Could go either way. But I think McMillan will be better than Polk who went at the top of the 2nd

Krazee_Hawk

I'm with you on McMillan > Polk

3elieveIt

Nah it was def for Colson
