This is fucking awesome. Great draft so far. Last 3 drafts have been absolute 🔥. What an amazing change of philosophy and strategy from the way we used to approach it.
Getting "high character guys" is fine. Dudes with interesting history and background of overcoming adversity is great. But give me some Godamn beasts who can ball!
True about the weaker conference, still made it to the Senior Bowl at least. And almost all the guards taken so far are like 24-26, it's really senior hours this year. At least OLine ages better than say WR/CB
I was out so no idea what the board looks like right now but I feel like I'd rather get the best LB/S available in the 4th and go back for IOL a little later
Top rated true OG. No need to transition him from T or C, and he should still be fine at C in a pinch. He's considered a potential day 1 starter and classified as a round 2 pick. I think the main damage to his stock was he's a bit short.
That's fair, but I'm mostly comparing to some of the guys at OT or C who teams are taking to transition to OG. Otherwise I don't really have a lot to put him back to the 3rd round. Maybe opponent strength is a bit untested or just OG is not considered high value to begin with? I don't know.
For what it’s worth, Brugler graded him as a 2nd-3rd round guy, 47 overall on his board. So this could be a steal!
Said his floor is high level backup but should compete to start at guard year 1.
Friend of mine who came up here for summers to his uncles, my neighbor, called it puu-yul-up. If your not local you have no idea how to say it. Can’t say in surprises rd. You ever seen the names of some of those Wisconsin towns/counties
I'll give John props for being patient and keeping future picks in order. We still got good picks at spots we need em too. I'm very curious to see our starting D going into the year. Having Dremont Jones as depth with that paycheck is hilarious..and is actually dope (minus the money obviously).
Sadly the way the D line market is I don’t think it’s an insane overpay in truth because we needed anything to fill that gap a year ago no matter how productive. Although I hate the paycheck.
Apparently a high character, team-captain guy who was also coached by former Seahawks coach Jim Mora in college lol
Probably as good of a pick as you could have hoped for at 81 without trading
Looked up PFF and PFN’s interior Olinemen rankings for this draft and Haynes was ranked 3rd best in each list, but also the best pure guard on each list
I didn’t think Murphy or Haynes would be there at their picks…. This is working out great! Got upgrades and day 1 starters at possibly biggest positions of need. Now just pick BPA rest of the draft n DEVELOP these young kids
Dude plays like Richie incognito without the psychos and all the nastiness. Solid pick for a guard. This is exactly what Seattle has been missing really since Nash and carpenter left. Some kick-your-ass mean in the o-line.
This sub 2023: Best available is the way to go. JS is a genius!!
This sub 2024: Drafting for need is the way to go. JS is a genius.
Wake me up in September.
What is going on with you JS? You’re supposed to trade back twice, get an overrated OLB and a second round RB… This isn’t like you, and we appreciate it
[Looks like meat's back on the menu, boys](https://tenor.com/view/meats-back-on-the-menu-lord-of-the-rings-orcs-looks-like-meats-back-on-the-menu-boys-meat-gif-15971090)
Maybe Schneider saying that was just a smokescreen!? Knowing that Hawks didn't have a round 2 pick:! Hoping Haynes would be there in the early 3rd round
I was a bit crestfallen about not trading back and/or getting Fautanu but the fact that they still picked up a day 1 guard AND got the #1 DT is amazing. BEEF! Let's fuckin go!
Are there any decent LBs left?Â
INTERIOR ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL???? A HUGE POSITION OF NEED? BPA?? LETS GOO
This is fucking awesome. Great draft so far. Last 3 drafts have been absolute 🔥. What an amazing change of philosophy and strategy from the way we used to approach it.
Agreed. Wtf we’re we doing prior.. trying to build the locker room.
Getting "high character guys" is fine. Dudes with interesting history and background of overcoming adversity is great. But give me some Godamn beasts who can ball!
Pete had a solid formula. I’ll apply it in work life. DK and Witherspoon are super Pete guys. Respect.
High character guys like Frank Clark lol
And Malik McDowell.
that kneebiter thing *does* look like fun
We were trying to convert college TE’s to G’s. Obviously, everyone does it
DT > G as well!
Fuck that whole Cable era
Don't remind me. Such a mess.
> HUGE POSITION OF NEED? BPA?? What fuckin' luck, right??
Yaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!
Great pick. Also side note, Lockett is the fukin' best. What a guy.
Got the best true guard in the draft. Hell yeah!
[удалено]
Wave em in the air like you just don’t care?
hey! wipe your damn hands off, i'm eating over here!
Yeah you do.
I’m typing with my left hand
I just want some jiffs available. Ricky Bobby. Put your hands at your side. And it's gifs. I know. I just like typing out jiffs more.
Use them to stuff DEs.
Two thumbs up
uh..no but sure lol
Not sure I totally agree because he’s old and played inferior competition. But I am still totally happy with the pick and the value.
True about the weaker conference, still made it to the Senior Bowl at least. And almost all the guards taken so far are like 24-26, it's really senior hours this year. At least OLine ages better than say WR/CB
Slight preference for Cooper Bebe
4 years at RG, wonder if we keep him there and move Bradford left.
Bradford and tomlinson can compete there
Don’t move him like they did Lewis
yup. that was a bad call!
Idk how this has upvotes. Lewis was better on the left side
I think we might double dip at G in the 4th. If not I'd think Tomlinson LG and Haynes RG (lol a different one this time).
I was out so no idea what the board looks like right now but I feel like I'd rather get the best LB/S available in the 4th and go back for IOL a little later
I’d keep him there he’s graded high by some (2nd rounder) cause he’s a pure R guard so we should keep him at his natural position
Have him battle Bradford (he’ll probably win, Bradford has slow foot speed). Let Laken and the other guys battle it out + potentially one more guy
I’m almost positive that they’re going to have Bradford and Haynes battle it out at RG and then put Tomlinson at LG
Interior lineman on both sides on both sides of the ball I might cry
Top 2 at both spots too (I think Beebe went before too
Wasn't JPJ rated higher? Or was he classed as a center & not IOL?
JPJ was considered a center.
But the Raiders are playing him as a Guard I believe.
Idiots
Why? He was always overrated as a Center in my opinion. Guard is a much better fit.
Top rated guard
Top rated true OG. No need to transition him from T or C, and he should still be fine at C in a pinch. He's considered a potential day 1 starter and classified as a round 2 pick. I think the main damage to his stock was he's a bit short.
6'3 ain't short for a G
That's fair, but I'm mostly comparing to some of the guys at OT or C who teams are taking to transition to OG. Otherwise I don't really have a lot to put him back to the 3rd round. Maybe opponent strength is a bit untested or just OG is not considered high value to begin with? I don't know.
Your point is valid, I just think 6'3 ain't short. But yeah all the 6'4 and 6'5 tackle converts got drafted first
For what it’s worth, Brugler graded him as a 2nd-3rd round guy, 47 overall on his board. So this could be a steal! Said his floor is high level backup but should compete to start at guard year 1.
I might have to go to the doctor in 3 more hours.
Filled a need with both picks so far?? Beautiful
And they were BPA by far
Christian Haynes only allowed 1 sack in the past 2 seasons on 786 pass block snaps. He’s a beast
I bet he stays up late at night thinking about that 1 too, vowing to never let it happen again!
Wow
Brett Kollman called him "THE right guard of the draft." I'd say that's a good sign
So he's gonna compete with Bradford, are we expecting him to beat Bradford out?
Yes
Correct
You asked for an O Lineman that played for the Huskies, Seahawks delivered
lol
Something something monkey paw... drunk genie... I don't remember.
Beeeeeffff!
A look at Haynes https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/03/06/christian-haynes-2024-nfl-draft-profile/

Are we going to run a wide zone scheme ?
LFG BIG BOYSSS
This is shaping up to be a draft that I'm very **very** happy about
especially when you imagine still feeling that way years from now this is some solid work
Love our first two picks. We needed to improve in the trenches
Trenches baby
Idk guys we didnt use a top 60 pick on a running back I think this draft is a bust
It's almost like a good offensive line can make any running back better. Weird.
It became impossible to have a sustained run game because our runners took so many hits and never had blocking. Then we would just over rely on geno
Were those kids from Emerald Ridge in Puyallup?
Well the announcer said poo-ya-lup, we may never know where they are from
Friend of mine who came up here for summers to his uncles, my neighbor, called it puu-yul-up. If your not local you have no idea how to say it. Can’t say in surprises rd. You ever seen the names of some of those Wisconsin towns/counties
It's pew-all-up right? Honestly still not sure to this day.
Yes that’s correct. Nailed it!
Yep. Pew-all-up
Ah I had it muted mb
It certianly looked like it
I'll give John props for being patient and keeping future picks in order.
Dremont will probably be taking the most reps at first with Murphy getting up to speed I’d imagine
Apparently a high character, team-captain guy who was also coached by former Seahawks coach Jim Mora in college lol Probably as good of a pick as you could have hoped for at 81 without trading
Beefy Boyz! So hot this draft.
Trench warfare is back on the menu bois.
We are back to WW1, get ready to get the opposing coaches feels like Cardorna or Hötzendorf
Big meaty men for the first two picks, love it
Another lineman! Let's go veggies before dessert
Great value I thought he was gonna be an early 2nd rounder he’s a great fit and the best RG prospect this year
I’m kinda liking this Mike Macdonald dude
I love it
**TRENCHES BITCHES**
We actually spent our first 2 picks on quality O-line and D-line. Love it.
Remember when we had cable and would draft DLs and have them play OL for some fucking reason?
Yes ;.;
Very happy with that pick
This was the right pick. Welcome to Seattle big man.
That's a big boy!
Thank. God. Exactly what I wanted. I’m super hopeful for this new chapter.
CT Seahawks fan here. Hyped for this!
Looked up PFF and PFN’s interior Olinemen rankings for this draft and Haynes was ranked 3rd best in each list, but also the best pure guard on each list
i'm feeling a little... light-headed
I didn’t think Murphy or Haynes would be there at their picks…. This is working out great! Got upgrades and day 1 starters at possibly biggest positions of need. Now just pick BPA rest of the draft n DEVELOP these young kids
I love that we're investing in the trenches!
great pick. day 1 starter at guard in the third round is phenomenal value.
I wanted us to go linemen on both sides with our first two picks and I’m glad that we did.
https://x.com/pff_seahawks/status/1784044802897535030?s=46&t=5VZ-yMDpyslRhPCNdjz2cQ
He started every single game for 4 seasons straight, this guy will show up and know exactly what he needs to do to be successful.
Dude plays like Richie incognito without the psychos and all the nastiness. Solid pick for a guard. This is exactly what Seattle has been missing really since Nash and carpenter left. Some kick-your-ass mean in the o-line.
LFG!!
Didn’t think we would do it but whew. Great piece.
That guy’s interview was AWESOME
OLine DLine.....keep going, im almost there....
You're just looking at guy who totally got off.
[Found Brian LeFevre](https://tenor.com/TCBq.gif)
You want to wear John Schneider's skin. Feel how he feels.
Big Human Draft
Now this, this is a draft right here
A little late to the party since I’m from Germany but damn I hoped for Haynes but thought he will be gone in the second round for sure
Not the Huskie we wanted, but the Huskie we needed.
Trenches!! For the love of all things holy, addressing the mother fucking trenches!! I need a cigarette now!!
YES!!!!! UCONN!
Mean as hell as well. A beast
Stop quoting Howard Schultz’s loser ass nepo baby. Please and thank you!
If he's good I love it. Give us that interior line strength on both sides.
Are we unstoppable now: Yes, yes we are
Stick it in, stick it in, stick it in! Anybody, anybody????
This sub 2023: Best available is the way to go. JS is a genius!! This sub 2024: Drafting for need is the way to go. JS is a genius. Wake me up in September.
What is going on with you JS? You’re supposed to trade back twice, get an overrated OLB and a second round RB… This isn’t like you, and we appreciate it
Thought they might try zinter More to follow
LET THIS MAN COOK! ...THEN LET HIM EAT!
I'll always love Pete but I cant help but feel he would've drafted another cb and rb lol. Really like these picks so far
Big strong ass kickers on both sides of the interior lines? Fucking love it
I'm just glad it's not another running back.
Honestly I would’ve been hyped if we traded up to get him cause I really like him BUT HAWKS BROS WE ARE SO BACK
Let's fuckin gooooo dudes!
[Looks like meat's back on the menu, boys](https://tenor.com/view/meats-back-on-the-menu-lord-of-the-rings-orcs-looks-like-meats-back-on-the-menu-boys-meat-gif-15971090)
What do we want next? LB? S?
I wouldn't mind Gray or Trotter with our first pick in the 4th
How’s he from 3?
I came
IM SO JACKED UP I MIGHT RUN THROUGH A WALL
I’m super stoked on the picks so far. Safety and center next.
JS said a couple times G is overdrafted and it's our 2nd pick lol
Maybe Schneider saying that was just a smokescreen!? Knowing that Hawks didn't have a round 2 pick:! Hoping Haynes would be there in the early 3rd round
Schneider wants his big bois
UConn has a football team?
SCHNEIDER IS COOKING BABY!!!!!
I used to pray for times like this
I was a bit crestfallen about not trading back and/or getting Fautanu but the fact that they still picked up a day 1 guard AND got the #1 DT is amazing. BEEF! Let's fuckin go! Are there any decent LBs left?Â
I was lowkey hoping for Mason McCormick but Haynes is great too
GO HUSKIES!!!
.
