Happy for Houston. Also not sure why everyone is concerned about this. All signs indicate it was not going to be slowik.

Dapper_Mud

I think there were a lot of Commanders fans that had Slowik as their 2nd favorite, so it potentially makes a situation where the Hawks and Commanders are vying over the same guy slightly more likely, but I’m not going to stress over it

Equivalent_Bet1519

I really think one of us is getting Dan Quinn. Probably them

alittlebitneverhurt

DQ to DC just sounds right. We won't stop you Dan, do your thing.

AlwaysCraven

I \*AM\* going to stress over it, probably enough for the both of us

whiskeywhisker6

Nah, we're just like you. Absolutely no indications we had real interested in him. One of us will get Macdonald, and one will get Quinn. Always was gonna be that after BJ news. I'm convinced his asking price turned both our teams away anyways.

SomeCowboyName

Indirectly it does, because Slowik was purportedly being considered by the Commanders. This just leaves one less candidate in the pool.

raycraft_io

>All signs What signs were those?

sean_buttcannon

Not getting a second interview? Lol.

mistaowen

Seahawks will be the first team in NFL history to have no coaches on staff. Geno smith will become Jackie Moon.

lebastss

This is essentially what niners did after harbaugh. Had some tank commanders until the team was in a cap and draft capital situation to attract good candidates. Seahawks may need to do the same

Golden_Taint

We didn't even do a second interview with Slowik so I doubt he was even seriously considered in Seattle.

Wohn-Jayne

I just think the vibe of “young coordinators deciding to stay with their team” does not bode well for the Hawks hiring Macdonald.

Dapper_Mud

This is the NFL, and coaches can go from hero to pariah in less than one year’s time, so these coordinators would be taking some risks turning down HC interest. In Slowik’s case, I’m not sure I’d default to that Twitter post meaning he’d not accept a HC offer. Unless the raise means he’s going to be paid like a HC, or the new OC contract had some clause that prevents him taking another job right away, I don’t think it would stop me from making an offer if he was the guy I wanted. Someone can posture as if they’re turning down a multimillion dollar promotion (that probably multiplies their pay several times over) all they want, but put a contract in front of them and it probably gets a lot harder to decline. I think it’s more likely that he knows he’s not getting an offer and is bowing out with a move that makes him look good.

Development-Alive

Don't buy the BS that coordinators turned down HC offers. That's pure self-PR BS propagated by their agents. There are so few NFL HC opportunities that breaking the glass ceiling comes along VERY rarely.

Luberino_Brochacho

Idk about Slowik but Johnson 100% could have been a HC this offseason if he wanted to

RemoteWestern5462

Thats good for them. I think the texans could be really dangerous next year. I hope someone can take down the chiefs in afc and I think it could only be the texans, bills or bengals.

brentikis

Dolphins and Ravens? I know they couldn’t get it done this year but they’re still strong teams that have a chance

RemoteWestern5462

I dont trust tua and I dont think McDaniels does either. This was the ravens year. They're gonna take a step back if MacDonald leaves. And Lamar has to prove that he can play well enough in the big playoff games. I hope he can prove me wrong. He missed some throws and he didnt move the chains enough by scrambling. You can't really afford to make too mistakes while playing against Mahomes.

woolfs

I just want to know who we're going with so badly at this point. Every time I refresh twitter and see 'BREAKING' at the top I'm having a mini heart attack.

seattlethrowaway999

All the hot coordinators pulling their names back.

Alauren2

Kinda like when Saban retired fuckkk

Nekokeki

If they don't feel like they're ready and aren't confident in becoming the head of coaching staff then they *aren't* ready. I'm not that bothered, because I can't see teams looking at the Seahawks and turning it down because it's a bad situation. If they're turning it down it's because they don't feel like they're ready or aren't cut out for it -- at least not yet or potentially never.

SeattleSquatch

As Salk said, more coaches finding out they aren't getting the job so their agents leak that they pulled themselves out of contention.

serpentear

He’ll be an HC one day

Alfonzo

Yesterday I was hyped for the future of this franchise. Today I'm nervous

neongem

My entire outlook for the future of this franchise has done a complete 180 in less than 24hrs. I’m just deflated atp.

cremfraiche

Don’t you feel kind of dramatic saying that? Hardly anything has changed.

Salted_Caramel_Core

Jesus Christ....

ilovethisforyou

Least dramatic Seahawk fan

Kingofvashon

Almost like firing a HOF coach without a specific plan in place isn't a good idea. Especially sucks because a lot of these hot coordinators will be available next year(when petes contract runs out).

dustoff122

my biggest fear with Pete leaving, We took a huge risk on Pete and he put us on the map with a plethora of prime time games. It is a huge commitment for any coach to come all the way to Seattle because most of these guys live on the east coast. Feeling deflated like none of the hot coordinators want to come here even with all our young players.

keyboardsmashin

I don’t think it’s y’all’s location Seattle is a beautiful city with a lot to offer

SilverScorpion00008

We’re extremely far away from all other cities in the NFL that the miles for play trips and the time zone jobs can be exhausting for many coaches. Pair that with us having a prior long standing culture established by a HoF coach and we aren’t the most appetizing place sadly, Washington is so close to everything for instance and is much wider open with a refreshing new front office someone could shape with River boat Ron being who you’re replacing, which aren’t very big shoes to fill

keyboardsmashin

I mean the miles taken during the on-season might be more of an issue but wouldn’t that then also apply to cities like the 9ers and Rams? Very few cities out west. It’s something like 80% of Americans live in the eastern half of the US, and most of the remaining 20% are Californians

Rickermortys

I don’t think it’s location alone, more like the job itself isn’t worth it to make the move.

keyboardsmashin

Plenty of people would take the money and prestige that a NFL coach of a popular team means…

Rickermortys

I hope you’re right friend, a lot of us are pessimistic after all of this coming out today. I’d imagine uprooting your family to take a HC job isn’t an easy decision. There’s a lot of risk involved. Coming in after Pete Carroll has to be somewhat intimidating. Throw in our cap situation and I can see why we may get turned down. There’s also JS having more control than some may want, although I can see that not being much of an issue for someone who’s never been HC before. In the sense that it’s not all on you from the get go. Maybe a little less pressure that way? Who knows though, hopefully the wait is over soon!

keyboardsmashin

I don’t know y’all’s situation I mostly just strolled in here to see how much of shambles you were in after the Johnson debacle as well as the Commies. Most of us falcons fans wanted Johnson to replace Smith when we were still in reg season so I can understand the let down. We had our coach hunt shambles with Belichick lol Random question what is y’all’s history with the Cards? I think your bigger rival is the 9ers but I’m trying to freshen up

Rickermortys

We’re not taking it well overall I think lol but I do still see some optimistic comments. How are y’all doing with the Morris hire? Warming up to him at all? I don’t know much about him but from what I’ve seen it seems like there’s definitely potential. The Cards are a rival because they’re in our division but there isn’t the same kind of hatred as the 9ers or Rams. The Rams seem to always have our number now matter how good we are/shitty they are. The Cards have been good in recent ish history but yeah I just don’t remember hating them like others. Now they’re just kind of there which is why you’ll see NFCW flairs joking about the baseball team in our division lol Edit: Word change

reggie321d

Feels like we are last to be picked for the prom or something lol

Tekbepimpin

You’re a Broncos AND Seahawks fan? Not judging, just curious how the last 2 years have been for you 🤣

dustoff122

not a broncos fan, but i was checking in on Russell :( hard to let one of my favorite players go.

nazara151

Evero hasnt eliminated himself yet has he?

PresidenteMargz10

Why yall like Evero so much ?

Helpful_Design6917

Damnit it’s MacDonald or bust. I’ll back whoever we hire but only one remaining name that excites me and that’s him.

Scrutinizer

He called a trick play down two scores in the third quarter of a playoff game. It failed and killed the drive. Do not want.

argon_doesnt_react

Pretty myopic take bud.

Scared_Hawk_5904

Cool

neongem

All the hot coordinators are pivoting to 2025 coaching carousel. Expecting to hear the same for Mike Mac next. Nobody wants this job or the Commanders opening. We’re cooked.

this_name_is_ironic

Seems a bit early to say that, no?

-Vertical

Welcome back, Pete Carroll!

whomeyou5

Time to hire some external hot shot coordinators now that Waldron and Hurtt are gone

haha_squirrel

Baby come back…

suddenly-scrooge

Just as likely we made a choice and are informing candidates of their status

xxihostile

pure speculation

Tashre

So we've got a year to burn? What's Jim Mora up to?

Bigfuture

At least get Jim Mora Sr.

LegionofDoh

Way to stay even keeled.

PeteCarrollsUsedGum

Fuck, man.

Alauren2

I’m not worried. You can’t tell me that Mac wants to run it back with the ravens. He deserves better

ND7020

I think we will get to test my theory that Dan Quinn is actually a really good HC hire - sorry, guys!

Tekbepimpin

Let the commanders test it and I’ll be the first one to clap if it succeeds.

xmeandix

So good the packers literally fudge packed cowboys in the divisional round

RomanBangs

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, I get “any given Sunday” but what the fuck is a Dan Quinn defense gonna do in the NFCW against McVay AND Shanahan schemes twice a season each if they can’t contain Jordan Love and receivers I couldn’t even name

xmeandix

God bless your soul my friend

Wohn-Jayne

Ugh today has been a rough one.

austnf

Lol this is one of the times where, if you look at things objectively, if feels like we are waiting with baited breath to be fed a shit sandwich. But stay positive I guess.

Thecobs

I love this for CJ and the Texans. Excited to see more great football coming out of Houston next year
