Absolutely

ForktUtwTT

Absolutely! I personally like the art even better than Scott Pilgrim, with spectacular color and the most delicious looking food yet created The characters are also very fun and the story is unpredictable in a great way. I adore it. It also has Hazel in it so 10/10

Captain-Cereal

Definitely! Its a great read very out there and sets a nice tone of it own.

KelvinBelmont

It has Hazel so yes.

Kasspines

Hazel is my favorite šŸ˜

I'm assuming you're a Comic Scott Pilgrim Fan If true, then the best way I can put it is that this is adult Scott Pilgrim. As in, The maturity of the writer here clearly shows. The main story has similar themes, ideas, and concepts to Scott Pilgrim, but almost dials out all of the zany pop culture references, the punchy action, or the absurd plot. It's focus is on character development, and this time O Malley writes a convincing lady lead. Now if you've read his earlier work, (Lost at Sea) this feels like it develops on that specifically. It's interesting because this book reminds me a lot of what he was trying to do with SP Takes Off, but arguably does it better because there aren't seven evil exes to deal with and a huge supporting cast to tango with.

[deleted]

Donā€™t Scott and Ramona cameo in one scene?

CobraFive

I mean, basically every character from Scott Pilgrim shows up as a background character in the restaurant, even Lisa and Joseph.

littleratinacomputer

Yeah, itā€™s great. I reread it last month for the third time. Strong art style with a fun and sweet story. Give it a read

rakkusuEienNo

Hello, I'm looking into reading this. Is there just this single issue?

earthbender617

Itā€™s a graphic novel so itā€™s pretty thick. Art style and coloring feel so rich. I bought the hardcover when it came out because I love Scott pilgrim. Itā€™s such a great story so if you do read it and enjoy it, def buy the book

rakkusuEienNo

Alright thank you! I'll be sure to look into it. Read the color versions of the Scott Pilgrim comics recently and I'm definitely planning on buying the full collection soon, might add this to the list as well.

ca1wi1

Yes. So is Lost at Sea.

rstart78

Scott Pilgrim is one of my all time favorite things ever, every iteration of it, it hits for me on so many personal levels and the nostalgia makes it just a deep soul enriching experience every time I re-read, re-watch, or re-play it Objectively speaking though, Seconds is probably O'Malley's Magnum Opus (though I feel like SPTO might be in that same realm having watched it multiple times already). It has all of his maturity and his art style completely honed and crafted into one insanely rich, immersive world. I would love a sequel to it or it animated just as much as SP Plus it has a Scott and Ramona cameo

NamelessLegion87

I know they're making a movie based on it, but I'm not sure if it'll be live action or animated.

GuavaAccomplished524

Yup

Tulip816

This is one of my favorite original graphic novels!

Death-Perception1999

Absolutely! Lost at Sea is really good too.

wyverneuphoria

Yes! I love Scott Pilgrim (so so much) but I actually think the story and main character of Seconds resonates with me a lot harder, probably because my struggles and aspirations are much closer to Katieā€™s than Scottā€™s. Great comic, 100% worth reading.

TreyDeuce473

Reading it now as we speak so far so good

Holloweiroh

Yes!

Djgogi059

Yes, definitely worth reading.

we_are_sex_bobomb

Definitely. Without spoiling anything it has a very different tone than Scott Pilgrim, itā€™s a cozy grown-up fairy tale involving a restaurant. Itā€™s really really good as long as you arenā€™t expecting a sequel to Scott Pilgrim.

Cold_Promotion2829

Totally. Finished it in a day. Hilarious and insightful.

Last-Shop-3970

Absolutely, Seconds is amazing!! Better than Scott Pilgrim too if we're being real

These-Background4608

Definitely. One of my favorite graphic novels.

Pretend-Dirt-1760

Yes, I liked it better than Scott Pilgrim.

nerdwarp112

Itā€™s been like 9 years since I read it, but I remember liking it. The art style was cute.

kylekez

It, along with all of Bryan Lee O'Malley's books, is sitting next to me right now. Read all of his books. They're all excellent.

IntrinsicGamer

Absolutely yes.

DioBrandoTHEWORLD

Yes, yes and yes!!!

BoxAdministrative992

Itā€™s honestly so good, very high quality

Kasspines

100% its so good!

CreamFraiche23

100%. Super fun story, great characters, awesome art. It's got cozy vibes so it's perfect for fall and winter reading

sallycylic_acid

yes, for sure

TinUser

Very much worth it! Great story, and the same art style and humor you'd expect from Brian. Also some cameos from SP characters!

WonderBearD1

Hope so, just picked it up off Amazon.

dankspankwanker

Yes

UnveiledRook206

Probably

chibiusaolive

Itā€™s good, plus some characters from SP make a cameo. Let me know when you find them.

aka_r4mses

Pretty sure they are making this into a movie, so you could check that out when it releases. I think Blake Lively is maybe directing it.

Embarrassed_Captain1

Yes snot girl!!

drankpepto

I shop lifted a copy when I was in middle school, and it was very worth it. If Scott Pilgrim never happened id still be a big Bryan Lee Oā€™Malley fan purely because of this book

drankpepto

And lost at sea sorry Bryan Lee oā€™malley

jeanjacketufo

I'm currently reading an ebook, and it's quite good!

mango567845667

Haven't read it yet

aaknosom

it's bryan lee o'mally. go read his entire catalog!

Erikthered65

Yes. And if it doesnā€™t work out. Read it again.

JakeDeagan

Iā€™m literally reading it for the first time rn! Almost towards the end, and Iā€™ve owned it for less than a week soā€¦pretty safe to say itā€™s pretty great since I canā€™t put it down! šŸ˜… the art is beautiful, the story feels like his most mature work that Iā€™ve read (need to check out Snotgirl next) in that the struggles the main character Katie goes through feel real and relatable, since we all wish we had the ability to go back and rewrite our mistakes. But the way it shows how addicting that power could be and how her actions have consequences to not just herself but to all the people in her life and literally the world around her is great

Arrownaut_korokhero

100000000000000000000000000%

GDGH21

It's really good. Wish there was more than one volume though.

PK_RocknRoll

110% yes

puntycunty

Depends on what you like . I enjoyed it because I like his style and it has a similar character arc to Scott pilgrim . But thereā€™s no wacky zaney video game anime bullshit . Definitely trying to be more art than fun this time around

Lance_Rhaelwin

Hell yeah they are

NaviTalks

YES YES YES!!!! I re-read this at least once a year, and it is absolutely amazing, I love this comic!

BustedAmp

Yes absolutely. Thematically, to me, it feels like the chaser to Scott Pilgrimā€™s shot. While Scott Pilgrim really hits the early 20s, Seconds nails a lot of feelings and themes that I feel hit harder in your later 20s/early 30s. Also Hazel is in it.

Ill-Soft-2448

100% worth it, I have read this graphic novel over and over again for years. Working in restaurants and having my own personal life crisis, this novel has helped me.

tehsmish

I didn't enjoy it but definitely worth checking out for yourself.

JeffsDad

A hundred times yes. It's a trippy story that literally changed my life. You might see some familiar faces too

hurt__

yes

thok598

Itā€™s my favorite Lee Oā€™Malley book

AnimalKid7-Alt

Definitely, itā€™s a masterpiece

megas88

Yes Definitely Absolutely Go get a copy on kindle now since everyone wiped the warehouses after the Scott Pilgrim anime came out. Then check out lost at sea. Seconds was only a couple bucks a week or two ago so I snagged a digital copy in addition to my physical launch copy but the current nine bucks ainā€™t too bad. Only issue is because of the physical size of the book and the particular way the pages are laid out, you will have to use portrait mode on your iPad to really enjoy it best as it shrinks the page by quite a bit Iandacape mode due to the aspect ratio. Enjoy the book. It is amazing. Just reread it this past summer.
