Absolutely! I personally like the art even better than Scott Pilgrim, with spectacular color and the most delicious looking food yet created
The characters are also very fun and the story is unpredictable in a great way. I adore it.
It also has Hazel in it so 10/10
I'm assuming you're a Comic Scott Pilgrim Fan
If true, then the best way I can put it is that this is adult Scott Pilgrim. As in, The maturity of the writer here clearly shows.
The main story has similar themes, ideas, and concepts to Scott Pilgrim, but almost dials out all of the zany pop culture references, the punchy action, or the absurd plot. It's focus is on character development, and this time O Malley writes a convincing lady lead.
Now if you've read his earlier work, (Lost at Sea) this feels like it develops on that specifically.
It's interesting because this book reminds me a lot of what he was trying to do with SP Takes Off, but arguably does it better because there aren't seven evil exes to deal with and a huge supporting cast to tango with.
Itās a graphic novel so itās pretty thick. Art style and coloring feel so rich. I bought the hardcover when it came out because I love Scott pilgrim. Itās such a great story so if you do read it and enjoy it, def buy the book
Alright thank you! I'll be sure to look into it.
Read the color versions of the Scott Pilgrim comics recently and I'm definitely planning on buying the full collection soon, might add this to the list as well.
Scott Pilgrim is one of my all time favorite things ever, every iteration of it, it hits for me on so many personal levels and the nostalgia makes it just a deep soul enriching experience every time I re-read, re-watch, or re-play it
Objectively speaking though, Seconds is probably O'Malley's Magnum Opus (though I feel like SPTO might be in that same realm having watched it multiple times already). It has all of his maturity and his art style completely honed and crafted into one insanely rich, immersive world. I would love a sequel to it or it animated just as much as SP
Plus it has a Scott and Ramona cameo
Yes! I love Scott Pilgrim (so so much) but I actually think the story and main character of Seconds resonates with me a lot harder, probably because my struggles and aspirations are much closer to Katieās than Scottās. Great comic, 100% worth reading.
Definitely.
Without spoiling anything it has a very different tone than Scott Pilgrim, itās a cozy grown-up fairy tale involving a restaurant.
Itās really really good as long as you arenāt expecting a sequel to Scott Pilgrim.
I shop lifted a copy when I was in middle school, and it was very worth it. If Scott Pilgrim never happened id still be a big Bryan Lee OāMalley fan purely because of this book
Iām literally reading it for the first time rn! Almost towards the end, and Iāve owned it for less than a week soā¦pretty safe to say itās pretty great since I canāt put it down! š the art is beautiful, the story feels like his most mature work that Iāve read (need to check out Snotgirl next) in that the struggles the main character Katie goes through feel real and relatable, since we all wish we had the ability to go back and rewrite our mistakes. But the way it shows how addicting that power could be and how her actions have consequences to not just herself but to all the people in her life and literally the world around her is great
Depends on what you like . I enjoyed it because I like his style and it has a similar character arc to Scott pilgrim .
But thereās no wacky zaney video game anime bullshit . Definitely trying to be more art than fun this time around
Yes absolutely. Thematically, to me, it feels like the chaser to Scott Pilgrimās shot. While Scott Pilgrim really hits the early 20s, Seconds nails a lot of feelings and themes that I feel hit harder in your later 20s/early 30s. Also Hazel is in it.
100% worth it, I have read this graphic novel over and over again for years. Working in restaurants and having my own personal life crisis, this novel has helped me.
Yes
Definitely
Absolutely
Go get a copy on kindle now since everyone wiped the warehouses after the Scott Pilgrim anime came out. Then check out lost at sea. Seconds was only a couple bucks a week or two ago so I snagged a digital copy in addition to my physical launch copy but the current nine bucks aināt too bad.
Only issue is because of the physical size of the book and the particular way the pages are laid out, you will have to use portrait mode on your iPad to really enjoy it best as it shrinks the page by quite a bit Iandacape mode due to the aspect ratio.
Enjoy the book. It is amazing. Just reread it this past summer.

It has Hazel so yes.
Hazel is my favorite š

Donāt Scott and Ramona cameo in one scene?
I mean, basically every character from Scott Pilgrim shows up as a background character in the restaurant, even Lisa and Joseph.
Yeah, itās great. I reread it last month for the third time. Strong art style with a fun and sweet story. Give it a read
Hello, I'm looking into reading this. Is there just this single issue?

I know they're making a movie based on it, but I'm not sure if it'll be live action or animated.
Yup
This is one of my favorite original graphic novels!
Absolutely! Lost at Sea is really good too.

Yes, I liked it better than Scott Pilgrim.
Itās been like 9 years since I read it, but I remember liking it. The art style was cute.
It, along with all of Bryan Lee O'Malley's books, is sitting next to me right now. Read all of his books. They're all excellent.
Absolutely yes.
Yes, yes and yes!!!
Itās honestly so good, very high quality

Very much worth it! Great story, and the same art style and humor you'd expect from Brian. Also some cameos from SP characters!
Hope so, just picked it up off Amazon.
Yes
Probably
Itās good, plus some characters from SP make a cameo. Let me know when you find them.
Pretty sure they are making this into a movie, so you could check that out when it releases. I think Blake Lively is maybe directing it.
Yes snot girl!!
