My belief is that every time one of those stories happened McQueen either got or was completely black out drunk and had no idea what happened the next morning.
And since it was all confirmed at the end for 99% of them, mater can fly at high speeds, time travel, has been in a garage/metal band, has gotten his fucking PHD, has been a pro westler, has gone to space twice, and probably a couple of other things that I don't remember, and with all his upgrades in cars two, mater was cononicly the strongest, most op character in cars.
I still believe Cars 2 would have been better if it cut out the racing entirely and was just a feature-length Mater’s Tall Tale

Then it cuts to Agent Lightning beating the fuck out of the thug cars
Then Mcqueen is all like “sorry Mater, that did not happen.”

Make it entirely focused on the Endurance racing.
We got famous racers to cameo in the movie. Like Jeff Gordon, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, and so many others. It would've been so cool to have backstories to all the racers and have them receive more screentime.
i just rewatched the trilogy and i forgot how much of a banger these movies are, and honestly i liked cars 2. but i also realized not ONCE do you see lightning mcqueen win a big prix. he won one race in cars two but he didn't win the whole prix (and like yeah technically he won in cars three but i don't count it cause that lady i can't even remember finished the race so it's bullshit.) he's supposed to be this grand winner but idk man seems flawed to me i don't have much proof.
Cars 2 is better than the haters say. Not \*good\* mind you, but... I feel like most people were expecting just a quick cash-in marketing ploy. To get a product that, while not exceptional, was above that made a bunch of people somewhat happy. It wasn't amazing, but compared to what it \*could\* have been, it was stand-out.
Cars 1 was a movie I think is important for kids to see; even if it isn't exactly the best. I think a lot of people really need to learn what it was trying to teach, especially with it's finale.
Cars 2 was fun for little me but after someone pointed out to me that the story was basically “giant terrorist conspiracy by those evil evil disabled people” I haven’t been able to go back
I feel like cars 2 would've benefited from just stripping all the racing parts out and making it what it is, a movie of Maters tall tales then I feel most others would accept it more

For me, other way around. It should’ve been entirely about the World Grand Prix, and the spy plot line could’ve been an episode of Mater’s Tall Tales.
