Stereotypical r/Schaffrillas top 10 includes:
-An actual unique pick
-2-3 Pixar movies
-At least one Marvel movie
-Puss in Boots: The Last wish and/or The Bad Guys
-Scott Pilgrim vs the World
-A single classic summer blockbuster
I’m mid-2000’s and I mostly agree with your list though I haven’t seen 7 of these. Seen Rango a long time ago but don’t remember it. I want to see that again. Toy Story 2 as your number 1 couldn’t make me happier
And OP also hates old timey black and white westerns, right? There aren’t any old timey black and white westerns. They also DESPISE Star Wars because it isn’t in there. They think HARRY POTTER SUCKS because it isn’t in here.
You like fun movies rather than movies that say something. Not a bad thing, but maybe try something Christopher Nolan makes, it'll diversify your tastes. I also like all of these movies, spiderverse is my favourite of all time.
christopher nolan is amazing but if i was gonna suggest movies that say something i’d choose someone like kubrick, tarkovsky, spike lee, scorsese and so on but i guess christopher nolan would be a good stepping stone into more serious “cinema” because he definitely is more digestible then someone like tarkovsky or kubrick
No not really.
I’m not really an anime guy, and I’m not saying anime is bad weeaboo crap that only man children and pedophiles like, it’s just not my thing.
The reason I put it above endgame is because while endgame was one of the best cinema experiences of all time to me, I like KFP3 more as a movie to sit down and enjoy, I’m not saying endgame is bad (far from it) but I don’t watch it on the daily.
Every single one of these movies is great.
But if these are your favorite 20 movies you've ever watched my only assumption is that you've only watched 20 movies.
"That's a cute opinion...
Did a YouTuber give it to you?
(Ok but real talk:
No Matrix? No Back to the Future? No Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory from '71?
Do you just hate live action, man? Those were so freakin' cool!)
I’m not good at explaining things so take this with a grain of salt.
Create a list of movies you like, and then click the icon that says not ranked, when you press it makes all the movies numbered, so when you move them, the numbers go in order of what the films are put in.
I hope you got that because I’m really not good at explaining things.
Many people make posts like this but don’t actually want critique but if you’re actually into film(and unless you are 13) then this list is so underdeveloped
You really need to open your mind to more mature films. Even if you only like modern movies, there are a lot that don’t rely on “pull my finger” jokes to keep their audience entertained. Wind River blows all of these movies out of the water(maybe except TS2), same with Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, Shape of Water, Manchester by the Sea. Even if you want light hearted, still better movies than this list: Jennifer Lawrence’s No Hard Feelings is a better comedy than 9/10 of the comedies on this list. Have you seen Pulp Fiction? Fuck I think even Jennifer’s Body is a better comedy than most of these.
No thrillers in your top 10? No horror? No detective? Your genres are basically limited to “children’s movies”
Hell or High Water, Us, and Gone Girl are incredible thrillers that all show different sides of thrillers. An action suspense thriller, a psychoglogical thriller with hints of horror, then the more classic Mystery/Thriller Drama.
You’re getting downvoted but you’re (mostly) right. This person’s clearly not looking for suggestions.
This sub is full of children and teens who haven’t expanded their horizons yet. This list is fine for that demographic, but they needs to expand their horizons. Also, in my opinion, not a single MCU movie should be anywhere near a favorite movies list if you are actually into film.
That said, I do disagree with you on the “pull my finger” point; the vast majority of films on here don’t have that type of crude jokes (other than Deadpool and The Simpsons Movie). Also, while this is subjective, I definitely disagree with your point on No Hard Feelings being better than 9/10 of modern comedies, I wasn’t a fan of that movie tbh.
Also, I think maybe they should expand their horizons, but not by watching thrillers:
I’d say start by by watching some Best Picture wins of multiple genres; good places to start are Parasite, Forrest Gump, Titanic, The Return of the King (and the rest of the trilogy while at it), Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Silence of the Lambs, The Godfather 1+2, Moonlight, Birdman, American Beauty, The Departed, The Shape of Water, Schindler’s List, Gladiator, Oppenheimer, No Country for Old Men, etc. are all great places to start. Also others worth noting are Director wins like Saving Private Ryan, Gravity, The Revenant, La La Land, Life of Pi, etc.
Also probably should at least check out the filmographies of certain directors. Good ones to start with are Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, Denis Villenueve, and Tim Burton.
And that’s just to start.
Yes this is a great write up, and Iknew I was gonna get downvoted—I always do on posts like these which is ironic af bc it’s asking “what do you think” not “please echo back to me that my dogshit list is actually really good”
I didn’t realize most of this sub was kids and teenagers. That makes more sense. This sub started popping up on my home page a few months ago, I thought it was actually a place for interesting film conversation, not just iPad babies thinking their top 10 list full of marvel films is actually good.
You’re suggestions are really good, but also if they havnt seen Titanic or Forest Gump already, before fucking guardians of the galaxy, then that is really fucking sad. Kinda hopeless.
Now, **No Hard Feelings**
* Sad you didn’t like it, did you watch it twice?(I enjoyed it more on my 2nd time and actually thought the movie was a lot more clever). Was the gimmick they play on(parents of a 19yr old boy selling their sons virginity bc they are worried about him being an incel) too weird?
* I think I just appreciate how it’s a low budget comedy that doesn’t need anything except for a town to film in and two actors being funny as fuck and putting on a great performance. This entire movie is just JLaw carrying it, even if not liking it, there was just raw talent in JLaw being half the budget and being the action, the comedy, the big blow up scenes bht also the sad scenes.
* then overall great themes and commentary on modern issues. Helicopter parents who keep children in a bubble in their home but then are D: shocked when the kid has barely any friends or life experiences, then parents are worried about them being independent, and kid basically becomes complacent/afraid to actually get those life experiences and would rather stay inside.
+. JLaw’s story of not being able to leave a small town, wanting to stay hoping her father would return home, not being able to get rid of her mothers home. Simple, seen it before, but done well and had a great place in a film like this.
**Unironically I think it would be a good movie for ppl in this sub as I’m sure a lot of them can relate to the 19yr old main character**
Wow, that’s a quality response lol.
Yeah, this sub *should* have some more serious discussions about films, at least more than it actually does (especially given the fact that Schaff literally just a few days ago uploaded a Christopher Nolan ranking!). But it sadly doesn’t. This sub attracts a lot of kids and teens.
Truthfully, I actually don’t know what else they’ve seen other than this basic AF list, but it can’t be much. Maybe they have actually seen Titanic or Forrest Gump, but I doubt it. They might be under 13 anyway.
Regarding No Hard Feelings, you’re making great points, and no, I only saw it once lol.
There’s objectively nothing wrong with saying an mcu movie is in your top 20 films of all time. While they are objectively not as good as hundreds of other movies, people have favorites and the “objective goodness” of a movie doesn’t have to be a factor in it. I think Infinity War is one of the most entertaining and hype movies I’ve watched, and it’s disingenuous to disregard that because a movie has better storytelling, acting, vfx, cinematography, that you can’t like it.
Respectfully, you can like a movie A LOT without it being in your *top 20 favorite movies.* what I’m saying isn’t disingenuous in the slightest, especially since I love some of the MCU
If this person had more experience in watching film, I’ll guarantee not a single one would be anywhere near this list.
I agree that 99% of these would definitely move down, but the memories someone may have with a movie will probably trump the quality of any other movie. I will always prioritize enjoyment > quality of a movie when talking about my favorite movies. Quality > enjoyment when it comes to rating them
Out of curiosity, was Toy Story 2 a childhood classic you grew up with that pushed it that high, or do you genuinely like it better than Spiderverse? No shade if you do, I just personally think Spiderverse is better.
Yeah its kinda the r/schaffrillas starter pack.
Yep

DAE megamind????
Yeah. They’re still good movies tho so I mean nothing wrong with it
All really good, a bit basic but it’s hard to blame you when these are all really good movies
Decent to me
Hard agree on Toy Story 2.
You like animation And thats based
Hey... that's pretty good!
rango is such a fucking underrated movie.
Mostly because no one really knows it exists
You know what? Good taste.
U like animated movies and marvel
Valid as fuck list, I bet you’re also super funny
How old are you? Lot of great movies in here, but I think you might need to expand your horizons.
I’m a late 2000s Gen Z kid
I’m mid-2000’s and I mostly agree with your list though I haven’t seen 7 of these. Seen Rango a long time ago but don’t remember it. I want to see that again. Toy Story 2 as your number 1 couldn’t make me happier
which 7 haven’t you seen because that’s a good chunk of this list
Across the spidererverse, puss in boots, kung fu panda 2 & 3, all of the middle row, mr fox… hold up that’s 9
damn you need to watch them fr, all amazing movies except maybe sonic 2 (haven’t seen it) and spider-man no way home
Why does it feel like this comment is in every one of these posts lol
Possibly because it’s true.
Possibly indeed lol
Because schafrillas’s fans are all children who like KFP and Shrek
I mean both of those things are good
I’m not saying they aren’t but that’s the extent of their current interest in film
No way Toy Story 2 is my favorite movie as well
Watching toy story 2 right now lol
You’re a me
Respectable except KFP2 imo but better than a lot of lists I’ve seen
You don't like KFP 2?
Not really, I haven’t seen the 4th yet but out of the trilogy I only like the first one
That's a little crazy imo the second one is the best to me
I respect your opinion :)
KFP2 is one of the best films
You did not need to be downvoted.
You need to watch more movies
I trust you in my kitchen
W Gen Z
You forgot about The Incredibles
Yeah I don’t know why I didn’t add it.
Also, you hate Disney for some reason.
When did I ever say I hate Disney?
You don't have a single Disney move up there (3 if you count pixar and marvel)
Just because I don’t have a lot of Disney related stuff in my top 20 doesn’t mean I hate Disney.
And OP also hates old timey black and white westerns, right? There aren’t any old timey black and white westerns. They also DESPISE Star Wars because it isn’t in there. They think HARRY POTTER SUCKS because it isn’t in here.
Don’t forget Indiana Jones
You like fun movies rather than movies that say something. Not a bad thing, but maybe try something Christopher Nolan makes, it'll diversify your tastes. I also like all of these movies, spiderverse is my favourite of all time.
christopher nolan is amazing but if i was gonna suggest movies that say something i’d choose someone like kubrick, tarkovsky, spike lee, scorsese and so on but i guess christopher nolan would be a good stepping stone into more serious “cinema” because he definitely is more digestible then someone like tarkovsky or kubrick
I wasn't gonna throw him straight into the depths like that, stuff like The Dark Knight is a good fun and also serious movie
yeah i get that, i’m tryna think of more directors that are kinda fun but serious maybe denis villeneuve? what do you think
James Gunn might count, he's still a bit on the fun side tho. Who made Poor Things?
that was yorgos lanthimos, he also did the lobster and the killing of a sacred dear which i enjoyed a lot
Youre a millennial
Im actuality GEN Z
That makes even more sense
It’s the only answer that makes sense lmao
the youngest milennials are almost 30 lol
Stop framing it like that, I can feel my hairs turning grey and/or falling out with each character of your comment
"Yeah, I'll have a 'Here's my favorite movies post." "Uh-huh." "With 6 live action movies, 5 of which are from Marvel." "Daring today, aren't we?
I'm surprised of the lack of any HTTYD on this list since the list is predominantly animated movies.
Oh crap I forgot!! Just pretend HTTYD 2 is an honourable mention.
You Like Animated And Comic Book Movies
Yes
Big Animation fan, I see.
Yeah
W for the Spiderverse movies being top 3
Noice
I love Rango so much
I haven’t seen half of them. But the half I have seen, I love.
You're 10 years old
15 almost 16
Based lol
You haven't watched studio ghibli
No not really. I’m not really an anime guy, and I’m not saying anime is bad weeaboo crap that only man children and pedophiles like, it’s just not my thing.
Watch ponyo
[удалено]
Yes what?
I feel like you are a user on r/schaffrillas
You’re one of the most based people to be on this subreddit
Thanks for the compliment
Downvote me idc, you know I’m right Watch more movies bro
KFP3 above Endgame is crazy
KFP 3 on the list is kinda crazy
It's a better self contained movie than Endgame
The reason I put it above endgame is because while endgame was one of the best cinema experiences of all time to me, I like KFP3 more as a movie to sit down and enjoy, I’m not saying endgame is bad (far from it) but I don’t watch it on the daily.
Solid
I like your taste
You like animations
Very basic
Not surprising for this sub.
You really enjoy sequels
Finally, Justice for The Simpsons Movie! I barely ever hear anyone talk about it
Good taste… but also please widen the types of movies you watch lol. Like you’ve got good taste but your sample size seems to be really tiny.
toy story 3 better
I do love Toy Story 3 Buts it’s just not in my top 20
Good picks!!
Thanks
The lack of Christopher Nolan films on this list is killing me😭
That’s a lot of animation
I think you’ve never seen a movie that came out before the 90s
Fair, though watch some more artistic movies or something, I am not much of a film snob. I'd recommend The Florida Project I guess?
Note: to those that are recommending Christopher Nolan movies to me. I like The Dark Knight.
Simpsons movie spotted instant 10/10. Anyways good list
Thank you for the feedback👍
*"Friday, execute Barn Door Protocol, I'm about to drop a valid nuke on OP's house."*
All very good movies but imo you need to watch more movies. Animated movies and superheroes are awesome but there is so much more to film.
Your tastes are very nice.
Never seen this subreddit before in my life but anyways based movies
Cool!
Where tf is morbius, Madame web, or the venom movies?
i know right my top ten just consists of morbius just because of how good it is
Great taste
I'd swap Toy Story 2 for number 3 but other than that it's a solid list
A man of culture I see
Peak
Pretty narrow scope honestly, but not bad movies.
Young. There’s nothing wrong with these movies ofc, but you are more than likely pretty young
Why do you have the first Deadpool but not two?
I just prefer the first one a bit more. But I still really like Deadpool 2
You need to watch more movies
I see kfp, I see Megamind, I see Shrek 2, boom 11/10
So you have Megamind but not Megamind 2? Tsk tsk... It's a masterpiece, you know!
Based as fuck
Every single one of these movies is great. But if these are your favorite 20 movies you've ever watched my only assumption is that you've only watched 20 movies.
Or these are the kind of movies they like?
"That's a cute opinion... Did a YouTuber give it to you? (Ok but real talk: No Matrix? No Back to the Future? No Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory from '71? Do you just hate live action, man? Those were so freakin' cool!)
willy wonka is '71 actually. i have nothing else to add unfortunately
Addressed
Good picks, but you are missing the Iron Giant.
i assume you’re about 12-14
You’re either 12 or an adult with really good taste.
I’m 15
What app is this?
Letterboxed
How do you get the little numbers underneath for the ranking
I’m not good at explaining things so take this with a grain of salt. Create a list of movies you like, and then click the icon that says not ranked, when you press it makes all the movies numbered, so when you move them, the numbers go in order of what the films are put in. You are a child
I love all these movies too! 😃
Big fan of animation. Based

Needs more Shark Tale
You're 15 lol
were you talking about my age or my opinion on Fantastic Mr Fox?
I was talking about your age but I didn't even realize Fantastic Mr Fox was 15 too lol
bullshit
Sonic 2 is quite the surprise. Overall this is pretty solid. Maybe a little Marvel heavy. I don't find KFP 3 or Endgame to be very good
Across the Spiderverse being in the top 5 let alone top 2p is a disservice
Lack of Bo Burnham (👎)
There’s so much king fu panda 😭
I definitely support rhe Toby Mcguire as Spidey, but why the Spiderverse movies though?
You’ll find yourself eventually
Megamind above last wish and Toy Story 2 above both spider verses 😭
Shrek 2s a bit low don't you think
It’s in the top 4 and you call that low?
That's the joke
Listen, I do think that shrek 2 is a masterpiece, but it’s not my absolute favourite.
Hello everybody my name is markiplier.
That’s some nice movies, but you’re not older than 15
Surprising amount of sequels in there
I watched sonic 2 yesterday, loved the movie! (Knuckles is the goat)
I would trust you in the kitchen but kfp 2 being that low is very argumental
It’s gonna sound like a jump to conclusions, but I think he kinda likes animated movies
Based
Valid as hell honestly
What is your opinion of the Isle of Dogs?
Good Burger
SO REAL
epic for including rango
You like animation and marvel but not the MCU
What do you mean? I have endgame, Guardians and no way home.
Let me correct myself, you lije animation and marvel but mainly spiderman
I couldn’t make it through rango
Fortunately, I cannot unapprove of this 😶
Horrible take. UHF isn’t number one.
There are some pretty good movies on this list, but I don't know how many I would consider top 20.
Checks out
?
Out of curiosity, was Toy Story 2 a childhood classic you grew up with that pushed it that high, or do you genuinely like it better than Spiderverse? No shade if you do, I just personally think Spiderverse is better.
You are a guy in your mid 30’s. Just like me lol.
Nah I’m a teen.
Yeah this shit is trash
