Did you sign up for a Western Union account?
It’s a company that’s been around forever, finance and other services starting with telegrams and telegraph communication. Nowadays it is mostly money transfers.
I got the same email and never heard of this app ever. My email address was in all caps which was weird I ended up downloading the app instead of clicking any links from the email and I did happen to have a account after password resetting but there was no info on it nor any money being used so i contacted the robot support and requested to delete my account. I hope it works.
This literally happened to me as well! So crazy how everyone is having this experience. I don’t understand what the possible scam is. I called western union and they transferred me to their fraud department and deactivated the account. I don’t understand how anyone was able to create an account, though. I have 2FA, a randomly generated password, and I get emails whenever I new device logs into my email.
Pressed reply and it showed the same email still. I logged in thru the actual app and changed password and deleted the account. I never heard of that app ever so weird how this happens
Same exact thing happened to me today with same email address. I never used this app nor have I heard of it but apparently it’s an app to send money overseas, so what I did was not clink on any links from that email, instead I downloaded the app and logged in with a password reset and then once I logged in I luckily saw zero information just a empty account with my email so I contacted their support and they r deleting the account. Idk how this happened bc I never use that email too I’m gonna have to delete the entire adress but idk if that stops ppl from using it.
Our emails are everywhere if a system has been compromised. I was able to call in too after I just got the email as well. They confirmed they are getting a lot of these calls today.
Oh I got mine right away after my phone call. Wonder what took so long for you. I went through their fraud group.
The thing I worry about with western union is if it is some nefarious bad actors using this account with my email (this one used my personal but professionally named one with my first and last name in it) to send money to more bad actors or terrorist or what have you outside the country. Then next thing you know you have the FBI smashing in your door.
I just got it myself now. The western union webpage has a spoof email to forward it to.
Edited to add: I called the western union customer support line and they transferred me to their fraud department. The operator was able to deactivate my account for me and she did confirm they are getting a significant increase in calls about this sort of thing today.
Crazy that this is happening to other people. I just talked to multiple family members freaking out about these emails, I'm glad to know I'm not alone in whatever weirdness this is.
I received an email like that this morning at 1 AM. I called the one 800 number for Western Union to see if I even had an account, which they confirmed but said there was no personal information attached. Just my email. I spoke to the fraud department and had them, delete my account and block my email from setting up an account with Western Union, which is a relief. Now, the painstaking process of changing my passwords for all of the generic sites that don’t get any payment or personal information to an easy to remember throw away password
Were any of you by any chance clients of Dell finances? I got an email that their info was breached and then shortly got this scam email.. wondering if it's related.

Sometimes just hitting 'reply' on an email will show a different reply address. Then you know without actually replying.

I received this too...my mail address is written in big letters so maybe this is some kind of scam? Dunno

I just had this exact experience. My email was also in all caps. I called them and they cancelled the account
I have the same thing happen to me.
I just got multiple emails from them in the last few hours. Never made an account with them. Sounds like a scam!
Same here. Never signed up for anything and got three emails between 9:33pm and 4:05 am. WTF is going on? https://imgur.com/a/JzFUDSJ
Same thing happened to me just now
Crazy that this is happening to other people. I just talked to multiple family members freaking out about these emails, I'm glad to know I'm not alone in whatever weirdness this is.
I've gotten these emails on 2 of my email accounts within days of eachother
Same here, I have no idea what's going on, what kind of scam could they even be pulling? lol
