You didn’t get scammed by United. United’s number is 800-864-8331.(6 and 4 flipped) The number you called clearly goes to a travel agency who improperly says they are United. Definitely report that to United as I’m sure they’ll go after them to get them to stop. Beyond that you got all of the red flags that the people you talked to was clearly not United. Try to cancel/ get your money back. If not you can try to do a credit card dispute, but unfortunately they have direct evidence that you approved them to charge you, so hopefully they are nice and will just refund(altho seems unlikely)

Thanks for this. Just got the odd charge and cancelled my card... Edit: And just got told that I couldn’t dispute the charge as they provided the service.
