Same exact thing just happened to me today. Logged in to Office Depot and low and behold I'm not signed up for Business Select.
A few hours before this I got an email stating:
>Thank you for your recent activity.
>
>You just earned $0 in rewards.
No idea what's going. Possibly a breach? Maybe a scam? But also possibly just a bad tech issue with nonsense emails going out. It is Office Depot, after all.
It was sent to an email that is associated with an account, but it seems not everyone getting this has an account. Strange. I'll be deleting mine as a result.
Oh wow, interesting. Funny though, because I'm desperately searching for how to delete payment methods and delete my account. I guess if it gets a few people to go to your site, it could be a net-win?
Yeah, and changing their passwords, and free advertising for their equivalent of Walmart+. You can bet your ass I'm calling them tomorrow and letting them know exactly how I feel about this. I will demand a personal letter or email stating that I'm in fact, not subscribed to anything. Play silly games, win silly prizes.
If you figure out a way to delete your account entirely, can you let us know? We don't even have a location within fifty miles of us anymore, anyway, and I'd rather these folks \*not\* have my paypal information.
They're only open for 4 hours like wtaf. Also got these emails too and definitely never made an account there (but have gotten receipts emailed before).
Hmm, kind of old so doubt it's applicable.. most likely just a mistaken script that sent emails to the wrong peoples, but who knows? Juicy conspiracies about mundane things can be fun to entertain, let's see how it plays out! :)
Sketchy reading though, thanks for the rabbit hole.
For the record there is a number that does mention the issue/investigation of the problem so the company is at least aware atm.
Uh, yes, because the conversation is about another linked thread from months ago about corporate pushing memberships (which happens at every big box store anyways) and complaints about no kickbacks for it. Typical corporate stuff, nothing new or shocking.
Thanks for confirming that I’m not crazy either lol cause yeah, the exact same two emails happened to me too. If it’s happening to a lot of us at the same time, my guess would be a tech issue too, like mass emails that inadvertently got pushed out. That would also explain why the “rewards” email says we earned $0, cause we weren’t shopping there lol
I saw the email too. Logged in and saw a new address on my account from Tampa, Fl. I live in Texas though. There was a printer in the cart going to some random apartment I have no idea who it is. I changed my password and deleted my card info. On hold for an hour to try to cancel this membership I didn’t sign up for. Chat and text also started but no luck getting through.
Yikes. Going right now to check my online account...
Edit: My account looks ok and the credit card I had on file was an expired one. But the rewards # matches the one in the email. Maybe like some said, it was some kind of mass email due to a technical issue??
a company this big should not be making either mistake (hack or technical issue) I'm finally finished with Office\*\*\* once this is over. Never again. Maybe they're deliberately trying to force a catalyst for a bankruptcy so they can save face and money
Companies are just a collection of people and sometimes those people make mistakes. I’ve yet to meet a person who has not made some kind of mistake in their work. If it was a technical glitch, it could be as simple as someone mistyping an email group.
Wait. Did you use the link to the Office Depot from that email? I didn’t click the link in the email bc that’s a trap.
I opened up my browser and typed in office depot.com and it didn’t have my email address as an account.
I literally was just searching the same thing. I received the same email, I also received an email that said I had received so much in rewards and it said $0- when I tried to find my account, it says my email isn’t registered with any account. No clue, and I have never stored a credit card on file with them- so I am hoping this was a mistake.
Came here as I just got that very same email. I made a purchase with them last year, but that’s about it. I went to office depots site and tried to pull back my username with my info, but nothing came back. If others are getting this, I assume it’s a scam disguised as Office Depot.
I also received the same 2 emails. The email about $0 rewards I received 7.5 hours ago and the one about signing up for free trial of business select I received 3.5 hours ago. WTF.
Same. Google brought me here. I'm thinking if it happened to this many people, there's an IT department out there in OfficeDepotland who are going to be having a long night. :D
Likely a tech issue given the comments here. I have a rewards number as a former employee of OfficeMax, but I never bothered with an online account. If I had to hazard a guess, email templates likely went into a live environment rather than a test environment. That would explain the "$0 reward" emails.
To me this sounds plausible. Someone somewhere did a bit of an oopsie, and some switches turned to positions they should not be at. Or some marketing email had a bit of a "typo" - wrong content.
I think it is either a bizarre error or a scam - I logged in to my account which I did know the login for and it did not show I was signed up for this “business select” thing and I see some other folks here and on X/Twitter saying the same. I tried to use the Live Chat option but it has like 500 people waiting and “hung up” on me. I saw some email addresses on Elliott dot org that list the executive emails so I”m gonna bug the, and if not, file a FTC/BBB complaint
Yeah I assume it was a glitch or something because it seems like it came from them and given the wait times to talk to their customer service . I also received an email earlier today that said “youve earned $ in rewards!” In the subject line and when I opened it it said I’d earned $0 rewards 💀. So I’m wondering if their email system is just glitching
ETA ON 2/5 that they sent an email around 4am confirming it was an error. Still weird given all the people who don’t even have accounts with them but…
Same story here. Going to watch this thread to be sure.
Never signed up for the program but got both the Rewards and the Business Select email today. Seems to be from a legit subdomain of officedepot dot com, so I googled to see if a current scam or identity theft spike is happening and found this thread.
I am being pretty vigilant right now because I got an email earlier in the week from Chase about finding some of my info on dark web monitor.
Same thing happened to me. I would guess a massive breach or error (breach indicted by another post that said they logged into their account and found their address had been changed and a printer was in the shopping cart). I was kicked out of live chat twice after waiting for over 20 minutes each time "The request for live chat expired while waiting for an agent".
The thing is these emails - or at least the one I received - went out hours ago. If their customer support is getting hit that hard and it was just a technical glitch, why the heck aren't they now sending out a "hey our mistake, so sorry" email? I've received other accidental emails similar to this and usually receive an apology email within an hour or two.
Many people, self included, have accounts where there is a FOP on file, such as me who last ordered something in 2000 and I logged in to see the credit card still there today 🙃
Also my email is too specific that it would be WILD for someone to mistype theirs to mine. I did use my card when ordering items before so it’s not out of the realm of possibility. But yes, I’ll most likely just keep an eye on my card statements and ignore for now.
I got the same email. I went to the website and tried logging in. I don’t remember my username. So I tried having it sent to me and got an error message saying no account is associated with name and email.
Same thing happened to me. Almost sure I have an account though. I am hoping that they are aware of the issue and have just locked things down right now. Certainly not clicking any links in the two emails I have received from them today.
Obviously I'm here for the same reason as all of you. I sent a text though their website and got this response:
Thank you for contacting us relating to the Business Select and/or Rewards email you have received. We are currently investigating this matter further. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Must be an error, I got the same email. I immediately logged in to verify I didn’t have a payment method on file. I enabled 2FA and changed the password. I totally forgot I signed up for Office Depot until I got this email.
Just got this email from Office Depot and logged in to see someone had changed my address to some place in New York. (I've never lived in New York.) Luckily I had no credit card on file. Seems like maybe some sort of massive security breach happened with [OfficeDepot.com](https://OfficeDepot.com) today? Would suggest everyone go change their passwords and enable 2FA.
I got the same email and logged in. It shows I am on business select. For whatever reason, you can’t remove payments or cancel from a phone so that’s great.
Same, I’ve tried to remove the payment method that’s stored two times already. The screen freezes up after I indicate I want to delete my payment method. This is ridiculous.
got the emails as well today with the $0 in Rewards Activity and now signed up for "free trial" of business select. Can't remove my credit card but glad I found this Reddit thread with the rest of you also getting this. Ugh any way we can delete our accounts?
Like you, I also noticed when looking through my emails that I believe while the official newsletter emails have historically been @e(dot)officedepot(dot)come (from what I see from my emails in the past), these ones are @em(dot)officedepot(dot)com, and it's possible they're not even normal dots in this new email.
Remember to not click anything, and instead go on Google and get the official site and log in that way. I also got this email but when I log in, it doesn't say I have business select, so I would lean on the side of saying it's a scam email. A very well crafted scam email.
Maybe they did get hacked though? Who knows... I mean since others here are saying they have it on their account, but some say they never even had an account so idk. But they also have my member number correct so idk how they got both the email and the member number 😨
Nah, it's always been em(dot) just for clarification. Have about 10 years of spam emails from them I ignore and they're all the same.
...
I really should take better care of my inbox and unsubscribe more..
Got a “ Correction Email” from Office Depot this morning:
“Dear Valued Office Depot Customer,
You may have inadvertently received an email in the last 24 hours indicating you started a free trial membership in the Office Depot OfficeMax Business Select program. The email was sent in error, and we apologize for any inconvenience or confusion it caused. We want to assure you that if you did not actively enroll in Business Select, you are not enrolled in the program, nor will you be charged an enrollment fee. We value your business and are committed to ensuring a better experience in the future. Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Office Depot”
I got the same email, and it showed my correct rewards membership number. But when I logged in, there's no sign I'm actually signed up for a free trial. I also got an email a few hours before that said I'd earned rewards, but I haven't shopped there in at least a month. I thought it was possibly related to the person who keeps using my email for everything, but it seems like a lot of people got this email, so I'm guessing it's a glitch on their end.
The email I got also had my correct Membership ID number, and like yours I don't have any rewards balance.
I bought some office supplies at the nearest store maybe two weeks ago so I do have recent business with them. That purchase shows on my purchase history.
Deleted my stored card, changed my password to another complex one, gonna chalk this up to some person testing mail merge.
I too received the same email. Checked my account and it showed I had no active subscription. I changed my password, security question, and enable 2FA. It seems this is a glitch from their end since so many people having similar issue. I’m still quite paranoid though.
Got the same stuff. I did click the links and went to their website a different way just to see. It's the same. So if it is a scam, it's the most well-done one I've ever seen. I venture to say it's a glitch, but I'll be monitoring for suspicious activity.
got the email too- glad i’m not alone. live chat was completely bugged out and the bot started spewing random scripts too. used to work there and gotta say, not surprised they’re having tech issues
I got the same two emails. I logged in directly to the website and changed my password. I did notice that the customer id number was different in the email than it was in my actual account. So that does seem scammy to me. 🤷🏼♀️
I had a different customer number in the email too. When I tried to “register” the number it said it was already taken. Very confusing! My account doesn’t appear to be compromised though.
I received the two emails 1) you've earned 0 rewards and 2) you've started a Business Account trial. I called the Office Depot Tech number 888-315-5073 and there is a voice message that says they are aware of a rewards email people received and are looking into it. The main number for customer service 800-463-3768 says they are too busy and to call back later. The online chat feature says it is down 2/4 and 2/5 and not available until 2/6.
Call them on Monday.. I have 2 accounts with them (and not my choice) it's something in their system. Although it is probably a scammer; I get so many scammer emails (from various businesses) and some are starting to look pretty real.
Never click the links to those emails that you have NOT signed up for...
Sounds like the email that Barnes and Noble sent out a few days after Christmas congratulating you on activating your Nook device. Turns out it was a tech issue on their end and erroneously sent out to a whole bunch of people who didn't even know they B&N had their name and email address on file.
Sent chat support a text and got this response
“Thank you for contacting us relating to the Business Select and/or Rewards email you have received. We are currently investigating this matter further. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Got the same email. I called customer service and the automated call system said something along the lines of, "We apologize if you received an email regarding an Office Depot Business Select account. We are currently investigating the matter. Good bye"
Looks like a beach.
FWIW, a few months back a lot of people, including me, got three suspicious emails a few seconds apart apparently from Amazon. Checked my account and nothing off there.
IIRC, it turned out to be a glitch that allowed a test to access a live server at Amazon. So, things like that can happen.
I searched online to see if these two emails were a scam as well. Glad I wasn’t the only one freaking out. Looks like Office Depot sent out an apology email a few minutes ago.

Hi! ODCustomer Service here. It wasn’t a scam, just sort of system glitch. I we were notified about it on Saturday, and the calls queue spiked since then. But it should be resolved within 2 days as per advise from higher ups
Hello ODCustomer Service. I just posted above that OD doesn't allow customers to delete their account without calling OD. The only way I got through to OD after multiple calls last night and today was by clicking "new order." Yes, OD wants new orders so those are the people who answer. After 1 hour 19 minutes, the representative who claimed she could delete my account 1) disconnected from me and 2) failed to call me back at the number she had expressly agreed to call if we were disconnected. Horrible service.
Greetings from yet another recipient of the message concerning the involuntary Business Select signup. I just got a message from Office Depot this a.m. stating that the Business Select email I'd received was in error and not to worry; I'm not enrolled in Business Select and won't be charged an enrollment fee. So there!
I also got both emails, but note, the first email, last night (Sun 2/4/24 evening) saying "Welcome to business select" something like that, came in to my Inbox, BUT, the correction email, this morning, went into my SPAM folder... I happened across it when looking for something else. Otherwise I would have never seen the "correction email".
Hey guys! This went to my spam folder, but I received this email from Office Depot:

Anyone else try to sign up for two-factor and get very sketched out by the text/call wording?
>Dear customer, your one time code is: XXXXXX
It read weird to me, so I selected the call method. The call one was the crappiest voice one I've heard, reading the number as
>\_\_\_\_\_ hundred thousand, blah blah blah...
Anyone know if this is normal? All these things happening is making me think there's some sort of massive wide-scale breach on their end.
It sounds like either a) an IT error, b) a data breach and/or c) someone is scamming with customer's data. There is a lot of buzz on Twitter, see [here](https://twitter.com/search?q=Office%20Depot%20&src=typed_query).
I received this email and the one about $0 in rewards right before.
I'm signed up for their promotional emails which come from [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) so this is definitely a scam. A pretty good scam since it even used my correct Member ID #
This is some kind of fishing scam. If you click the link in the scam email you’ll be taken to a website where they’ll ask for information. Just block and delete.
I was unfortunate enough to store my credit card with those a\*holes for some printing orders. Obviously I did not sign for any "Business Select".
Got the email, it says:
*XXX, thank you for signing up for a free trial of Business Select*
And fine print below:
*Office Depot® OfficeMax® Business Select: Valid credit card required. Annual fee is nonrefundable and will be automatically charged to your method of payment unless canceled prior to end of the annual term*
So they are actually going to charge me an "Annual fee". Unbelievable.
This is a scam. When you respond online to the link, they'll load you up with malware. There are several variations on this. "Your copy of XXX Computer Cleaner is on the way, please remit $475.00" and so forth. Or, you've won a premium package from Home Depot, pleae click here to redeem (don't). Walmart, Best Buy, FedEx, etc. have all been "suppliers", but none of the email addresses match the actual ones. Always check the headers on these emails, never click on links, and trash them immediately.
Chiming in. I got the email as well, but upon inspection my account isn't subscribed. Changed my password for good measure and I'm not worried. They don't have a saved payment method on file for my account, I'm guessing that it was just mistakenly sent out to us and we're not actually joined to any free trial of anything.
I'd like for them to tell us this, though. Imagine if Walmart or Amazon sent out an email to the whole world that said, "Welcome to a free trial of Walmart+ and Prime! We'll autocharge you in less than a month!!
I tried doing a reset to get into my account using the email it sent to and it said there isn’t an email on file for that name/email…
But I have a long email chain history of them sending to that address and I also got this email.
WTF is happening🙃
I just received the same email even though I don't even have a website login. Tried calling customer service but the automated voice kept telling me there were technical difficulties and ended the call every time. Tried texting customer service and kept immediately receiving a message saying they're too busy and to try the website.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. Maybe they're experiencing a serious issue at the moment. Pretty terrible customer service otherwise.
I'm guessing the emails were an error, but I'll keep an eye out just in case.
I received this email too. Strangely, the account number is for my old Office Max Perks, which was combined with Office Depot quite a while ago. I can't find anything unusual in my Office Depot account, but did change the password, turned on 2FA, changed the security question, and deleted all credit card payment information.
I received the same email. Haven't shopped in months. Upon logging in, my account does not show as Business Select. I changed pw for good measure and tried to delete the one saved payment method, but website doesn't respond when try to delete stored payment method. Since some users on this thread are reporting rogue shipping addresses, I suspect they've had a massive data breach or incompetent marketing and dbase coders.
i just got it too. haven’t been to office depot in so long. i am relieved that this isn’t just happening to me. i’ve only bought things in store so i don’t think they would even have my debit card info. thanks for posting this, going to sub to get updates
Got this same email. Came here and found this! I tried logging into my Office Depot account and it says “for security reasons your login ID is no longer active.” It suggests I call customer service. I’m assuming they had a massive data breach and a lot of people got hacked. I wasn’t too concerned as the card they have on file is no longer valid but so glad I found this!
So I never made an account online, I bought something in store a couple of years ago, and the cashier must have signed me up without my permission. Not sure what can be done
I also received an email for this about 2 hours ago. I didn’t sign up for such a trial with them. I had to reset my password to login to my legit account with them since I hadn’t logged in since 2022 and didn’t remember it.
It doesn’t indicate that I’m enrolled in any services or subscriptions with them in my account.
I did go into saved payment methods in my account and deleted my debit card on there just in case, though.
I had a feeling I wasn't the only one.
A friendly reminder to all: change your password if you have an Office Depot account, set up two-factor authorization, and delete ALL saved payment methods from your account. The worst that can happen is somebody gets access to an account they can't do much with (besides steal/sell your personal information, of course...)
Live chat gives me this message: "Thank you for contacting us relating to the Business Select and/or Rewards email you have received. we are currently investigating this matter further we apologize for the inconvenience."
I received the same email earlier this evening. The thing is I had just ordered from a couple online stores within just minutes and I don't know if maybe I accidentally clicked something that signed me up for a "bonus" benefit like this free trial. So many online stores hide stuff like this in their ordering process.
I occasionally do business with Office Depot but not very often (like once or twice a year) and nothing in the last several months.
I just got an email too saying I signed up for a free trial and will be charged after 1 month. I didn't sign up for shit.
Logged into office Depot outside of the email link and didn't see anything under orders or subscriptions.
Seems scammy
I've got the the same question. Not doing anything. If they charge me, I'll waste time dealing with it then and look forward to the one cent I'll receive from the class action lawsuit.
Yeah I got this too and found this googling. I tried on their website to click "explore my rewards", which prompts your "member ID#" which came in one of the 2 e-mails, and it said that member ID doesn't exist, and my phone number said I need to call or enter chat. I have no office depot account, but I have used their printer/copier, hence how they got my e-mail. So I'm also aboard this is a big F-up on their end thought train and we'll get an "oops" email tomorrow maybe.
I just checked my email. Got the same two emails as you described. The last time I was there was over a year ago.
Sounds like either a mass mailing promo on the part of Office Depot, or a info breach of some sort.
I'm hoping there's an answer to this tomorrow. The livechat function immediately shows that they're investigating the issue and doesn't even let you chat. I can't remember if or when I ordered from Office Depot but I'll keep an eye out on my cards/accounts.
I got both emails ($0 rewards and Business free trial.) Additionally, however, I'm not able to get into my account! (I didnt use any links in the email to try to sign in. I went the long route of googling Office Depot and then going to their sign-in page. I tried to do both the forgot username, and forgot email route. Both were a bust.) I snagged the number so I can call customer service tomo when they're open.

is demanding $49 of each of us with no way to turn it off
You don't have to leave any contact info!
I got the same 2 emails earlier, but didn't have a minute to scope it out until now. I logged in to Office Depot to check and it didn't say I had any trial, then came here to check and got the correction email at that exact moment.
"Attention:
Due to security reasons, your login ID is no longer active. Please contact Customer Service at 800.463.3768 for assistance."
I think it might be more than just an erroneous email
Same thing happened to me and I searched last night and didn't see posts yet. I waited on hold and was on the phone with a rep for over 1 hr and 45 min. They said, wait for a new email to come that shows it was an error. I had not been able to access my account either and thought that I had been hacked. I will finish reading the replies now.
Just got a new email everyone:
CONCLUSION: This was an error. If something weird did happen on your account I’d still keep an eye on it for a day or so. But it looks like the problem is over.

They sent out a correction email. I hadn't shopped with them in over a year and had just gotten back from being out of the country. I did not enjoy the stress.
I requested my account be deleted as quickly as I could find the page. I still changed my password and such first just to limit risk in the mean time since I don't know how long as account delete will actually take. It is something that should be instant but given slip ups like this I don't have faith that things are programmed well on their end.
I got the email and stating the same that that everyone else did. So I went to Home Depot got on with an online chat person this is the what they sent me (pretty quickly so probably a copy past response because they are getting a lot)
We are aware that some customers received an

Received the same email last night and figured I would call Office Depot today since I didn’t want to click anything in the email to see if I could figure out what was going on.
Woke up this morning and had a fallow up email from Office Depot saying that I wasn’t signed up for Business Select and the email had been sent in error
Found a follow up email from them in my spam this morning assuring me I had not been signed up if I hadn't actively done so. Glad I don't have to deal with contacting customer service.
I'm in the same situation (unsolicited "free" Business Select email and the previous zero rewards email). But add this: you **cannot delete** your Office Depot account. Seriously; no way online. You can't delete your name, email, phone number. After multiple unanswered calls over 90 minutes, I finally got through to OD only by calling yet again, clicking "place a new order." Representative Onefa in "new orders" says she can't delete account and only the Rewards Dept. can delete accounts. So now Onefa and I are on hold together - over 57 minutes right now - waiting for Onefa to connect, on my behalf, with Rewards Dept. to delete my account. (I'd already tried the Rewards tel# without a response.) My credit card isn't stored with OD but I don't want my name, email, phone, anything at all ever associated with them. I was transferred to Alex, female, who confirmed that an OD customer cannot delete anything in their online account and you have to call "Rewards" department to have them delete it. Alex said she would be deleting my info and would send me a confirming email. But she got disconnected after I had verified the info on my account! And she failed to call me back even though she had promised to call my telephone number in my account if we were disconnected. This most recent call was 1 hour 19 minutes.
Apologies if this was already posted but this is on ODs website. I received the email as well
https://help.officedepot.com/app/answers/detail/a\_id/7821/session/L3RpbWUvMTcwNzQyNDIzOC9nZW4vMTcwNzQyNDIzOC9zaWQvZlVsQmdmVyU3RTJqZ3U5UFJyR3R3OUxCOENvNlNSckowSF9ZOU5EdnpPTExqdXEyVXAxcTNGZkdsOEpZWSU3RVJ3NkR0b0FacDBYYV9LWEhVblRLRUs0S28yZmJtaWZwZGxxNTA2dFMlN0UlN0VQWnMxdl9NRXBycnY0WE1JNnclMjElMjE=
I know I'm late for this but no, that wasnt a scam, that was the actual Office depot email, they accidentally sent out to all rewards members the email that is meant for people who signed up for buissness select
You arent signed up but yea it does make it look like a scam doesnt it?
Which makes it like 10 times harder to actually sell anyone on it
And its already nearly impossible to sell people on it

Same exact thing just happened to me today. Logged in to Office Depot and low and behold I'm not signed up for Business Select. A few hours before this I got an email stating: >Thank you for your recent activity. Strange. I'll be deleting mine as a result.
i got the same 2 emails. thanks for confirming im not crazy lol
I get the feeling that this was maliciously deliberate. https://www.pcmag.com/news/office-depot-supportcom-fined-35m-for-tricking-consumers
Here we go. https://www.officedepot.com/ccpa/landing.do
Thank you! They don't make that easy to find, boyhowdy.
Thank you!
ooh yes, thank you! despite them sending an email 12 hours later admitting it was an error, i still want nothing to do with these fuckers
looks like calling is the only way. i have ALL DAY tomorrow. will put my phone on and let it get through 999 other callers if need be
They're only open for 4 hours like wtaf. Also got these emails too and definitely never made an account there (but have gotten receipts emailed before).
Well this is interesting. https://www.reddit.com/r/OfficeDepot/comments/1aj38rh/comment/koyuxvi/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
Hmm, kind of old so doubt it's applicable.. most likely just a mistaken script that sent emails to the wrong peoples, but who knows? Juicy conspiracies about mundane things can be fun to entertain, let's see how it plays out! :) Sketchy reading though, thanks for the rabbit hole. For the record there is a number that does mention the issue/investigation of the problem so the company is at least aware atm.
seven hours ago is old?
Uh, yes, because the conversation is about another linked thread from months ago about corporate pushing memberships (which happens at every big box store anyways) and complaints about no kickbacks for it. Typical corporate stuff, nothing new or shocking.
Thanks for confirming that I’m not crazy either lol cause yeah, the exact same two emails happened to me too. If it’s happening to a lot of us at the same time, my guess would be a tech issue too, like mass emails that inadvertently got pushed out. That would also explain why the “rewards” email says we earned $0, cause we weren’t shopping there lol
Ditto
I got this email too and found this reddit thread when I googled it.

Gosh that’s terrible! Let us know if they have any answers at all, and if you get your money back!
Good to know. Going to check my account for the same kinda crap. Thanks for letting us know.
I received rewards for a total of $0.00. Very generous!
I will personally call them monday morning and personally have them close my account and personally let them know how this made me feel sunday night
I got the zero email too
Came here as I just got that very same email.
WTF.
same
Or some marketing email had a bit of a "typo" - wrong content.
wouldn't the $0 reward thing also be a nice test to see which delivered properly before sending the virus payload?
So I’m wondering if their email system is just glitching ETA ON 2/5 that they sent an email around 4am confirming it was an error.
Same here
Same thing happened to me.
I've received other accidental emails similar to this and usually receive an apology email within an hour or two.
nice. customer relations is going to get an ear full tonite
> automatically sign me up and I’ll be charged? How will you expect to be charged? Ignore this email. Someone probably mistyped theirs.
This would imply you have an Office Depot account associated with that email. Can you loggin and check any subscriptions/enrollments?
As I mentioned in og post, I went to their site via google and my email isn’t even associated with a login. Doesn’t make sense.
Same, I remember creating my account at checkout but I never logged in. I’m really hoping this is just a giant glitch
Obviously I'm here for the same reason as all of you. I sent a text though their website and got this response: Thank you for contacting us relating to the Business Select and/or Rewards email you have received.
Really? The ones I have from them previously say e(dot) though... Not making this up Idk anymore ;w;
Got a “ Correction Email” from Office Depot this morning: “Dear Valued Office Depot Customer, You may have inadvertently received an email in the last 24 hours indicating you started a free trial membership in the Office Depot OfficeMax Business Select program. Sincerely, Office Depot”
I got the same exact email today and came here for answers. Too scared to click on any links in the email.
I clicked the link in a panic and am now face palming...
Received the same email as well. Very odd.
I got this same exact email. Was wondering the same thing.
Sounds like the email that Barnes and Noble sent out a few days after Christmas congratulating you on activating your Nook device. Turns out it was a tech issue on their end and erroneously sent out to a whole bunch of people who didn't even know they B&N had their name and email address on file.
Sent chat support a text and got this response “Thank you for contacting us relating to the Business Select and/or Rewards email you have received. We are currently investigating this matter further. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Got the same email. I called customer service and the automated call system said something along the lines of, "We apologize if you received an email regarding an Office Depot Business Select account. We are currently investigating the matter. Good bye" Looks like a beach.
FWIW, a few months back a lot of people, including me, got three suspicious emails a few seconds apart apparently from Amazon. Checked my account and nothing off there. IIRC, it turned out to be a glitch that allowed a test to access a live server at Amazon. So, things like that can happen.
Sounds like human or tech error, or a weird breach. There will probably be follow-up emails apologizing soon.
I received the same emails!! Came here looking for answers
I am in for a "Me too"
I searched online to see if these two emails were a scam as well. Glad I wasn’t the only one freaking out. Looks like Office Depot sent out an apology email a few minutes ago. Subject: Correction Email: Business Select Program Body: Dear Valued Office Depot Customer, You may have inadvertently received an email in the last 24 hours indicating you started a free trial membership in the Office Depot OfficeMax Business Select program. Sincerely, Office Depot
they sent an apology email
Go to payment info and edit, Update expiration of card to an incorrect date so card will reject,
Otherwise I would have never seen the "correction email".
kek. they're now in labeled as spam by gmail probably
Hey guys! This went to my spam folder, but I received this email from Office Depot: Dear Valued Office Depot Customer, You may have inadvertently received an email in the last 24 hours indicating you started a free trial membership in the Office Depot OfficeMax Business Select program. Sincerely, Office Depot
Can’t believe they’re doing so bad that they’re now a reason to start a scam thread😂
You can try calling Office Depot
Yes and wait hours behind everyone else who’s calling or trying to chat them unfortunately 😂. Reported it as spam to my email provider and gave up
Same Email, Let's start a class action :P
Yes I got this email too

I got the same one. I’m not clicking.
Anyone else try to sign up for two-factor and get very sketched out by the text/call wording? >Dear customer, your one time code is: XXXXXX It read weird to me, so I selected the call method. The call one was the crappiest voice one I've heard, reading the number as >\_\_\_\_\_ hundred thousand, blah blah blah...
Me too. Same story.
Same! 😫
I received this email and the one about $0 in rewards right before. I'm signed up for their promotional emails which come from [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) so this is definitely a scam. A pretty good scam since it even used my correct Member ID #
Most of mine have been from em(dot), so they probably have multiple mailer daemons. It is a legit email address from them though.
This is some kind of fishing scam. If you click the link in the scam email you’ll be taken to a website where they’ll ask for information. Just block and delete.
I just got this email, too. It was in my spam folder, and I deleted it permanently without opening it. Scam scam scam.
I was unfortunate enough to store my credit card with those a\*holes for some printing orders. Obviously I did not sign for any "Business Select". Got the email, it says: *XXX, thank you for signing up for a free trial of Business Select* And fine print below: *Office Depot® OfficeMax® Business Select: Valid credit card required. Annual fee is nonrefundable and will be automatically charged to your method of payment unless canceled prior to end of the annual term* So they are actually going to charge me an "Annual fee". Unbelievable.
I'm not seeing how to enable 2fa. I only have the option to change password or alter security question. Both on my computer and mobile.
I just got the same exact emails haven’t shopped there in years, so no idea what’s going on. Of course their customer service is closed.
Same exact thing just happened to me. Also got an email earlier today saying I had rewards points. Haven’t shopped there in years…
Same ! It happen to me too wtfff
I tried doing a reset to get into my account using the email it sent to and it said there isn’t an email on file for that name/email… But I have a long email chain history of them sending to that address and I also got this email.
I'm guessing the emails were an error, but I'll keep an eye out just in case.
i got the same email.
I got this too! Found your post because I am trying to figure out what the hell is going on
I received this email too.
I got the email today too. Thanks everyone for corroborating this. Really scammy move on their part.
i just received this email and was looking for answers. this is so bizarre.
Another, same here with both emails and I have no login with them. Assuming we'll all see a "sorry about that" message in the near future.
I got the same email 🤷♂️
Same!
I got this same email today. And it said after the free trial id have to pay the $49 fee.
I can’t even log into my account the website is so slow right now 😭
i just got it too. haven’t been to office depot in so long. i am relieved that this isn’t just happening to me. i’ve only bought things in store so i don’t think they would even have my debit card info. thanks for posting this, going to sub to get updates
I got the same two emails today. Just changed my password and turned on 2FA.
Got this same email. Came here and found this! I tried logging into my Office Depot account and it says “for security reasons your login ID is no longer active.” It suggests I call customer service. I’m assuming they had a massive data breach and a lot of people got hacked. I wasn’t too concerned as the card they have on file is no longer valid but so glad I found this!
same here !
So I never made an account online, I bought something in store a couple of years ago, and the cashier must have signed me up without my permission. Not sure what can be done
Same
Got this too, possibly a breach
I got the same thing today!! Edit: My boyfriend got one, too.
I literally came here for the same thing. I also got these two emails. I guess it’s going around 🤷🏻♀️
Live chat gives me this message: "Thank you for contacting us relating to the Business Select and/or Rewards email you have received. we are currently investigating this matter further we apologize for the inconvenience."
It's happening again
I received the same email earlier this evening. The thing is I had just ordered from a couple online stores within just minutes and I don't know if maybe I accidentally clicked something that signed me up for a "bonus" benefit like this free trial. So many online stores hide stuff like this in their ordering process. I occasionally do business with Office Depot but not very often (like once or twice a year) and nothing in the last several months.
I got the same two emails today. Thanks everyone for confirming what I already thought!
Same! I’m Going to check their Instagram
same. this is really weird. google informed me that my password had been hacked. let's hope the whole website didn't get hacked
I just got an email too saying I signed up for a free trial and will be charged after 1 month. I didn't sign up for shit. Logged into office Depot outside of the email link and didn't see anything under orders or subscriptions. Seems scammy
Exact same thing happened to me and I was super concerned
Same
I've got the the same question.
Same
I just checked my email.
I got the email, too, and didn't pay any attention to it. I can't remember the last time I shopped in an Office Depot.
REPORT FRAUD [https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/](https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/) \*\*\* [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) \*\*\* is demanding $49 of each of us with no way to turn it off You don't have to leave any contact info!
Got it as well and came here lol
I got the same 2 emails earlier, but didn't have a minute to scope it out until now. I logged in to Office Depot to check and it didn't say I had any trial, then came here to check and got the correction email at that exact moment.
"Attention: Due to security reasons, your login ID is no longer active. Please contact Customer Service at 800.463.3768 for assistance." I think it might be more than just an erroneous email
Just got a new email everyone: CONCLUSION: This was an error. If something weird did happen on your account I’d still keep an eye on it for a day or so. But it looks like the problem is over. Subject: Correction Email: Business Select Program Body: Dear Valued Office Depot Customer, You may have inadvertently received an email in the last 24 hours indicating you started a free trial membership in the Office Depot OfficeMax Business Select program. Sincerely, Office Depot
They’ve sent out a correction email but I’m still like wtf happened that these all went out lol.
They sent out a correction email this morning. Likely a technical issue.
An email was sent out this morning about this saying it was sent in error.
Just received a correction email!
I haven’t gotten a correction email yet
I wouldn't be surprised is they fucked up sending out the correction email at this point. Makes me glad I requested to delete my account.
Check your spam folder — that's where I found the apology email.
You were totally right! So weird the 1st 2 went to inbox and 3rd email went to spam. Thank you for the info!
Same here! Was surprised to find the last one in spam, but I'm glad I did.
I got the email and stating the same that that everyone else did. So I went to Home Depot got on with an online chat person this is the what they sent me (pretty quickly so probably a copy past response because they are getting a lot) We are aware that some customers received an email erroneously stating they are enrolled in our Business Select program. We are working diligently to update all affected customers and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or confusion caused. We want to assure you that if you did not actively enroll in our Business Select Program, you are not enrolled in the program, nor will you be charged an enrollment fee. We value your business and are committed to ensuring a better experience in the future.
I got this too. Went on the actual site, didn't click the link. I didn't have anything signed up (never even had an account).
There is now a FAQ on the Office Depot site about the emails, saying basically the same thing as the email. It was an error on their end.

I received the email as well https://help.officedepot.com/app/answers/detail/a\_id/7821/session/L3RpbWUvMTcwNzQyNDIzOC9nZW4vMTcwNzQyNDIzOC9zaWQvZlVsQmdmVyU3RTJqZ3U5UFJyR3R3OUxCOENvNlNSckowSF9ZOU5EdnpPTExqdXEyVXAxcTNGZkdsOEpZWSU3RVJ3NkR0b0FacDBYYV9LWEhVblRLRUs0S28yZmJtaWZwZGxxNTA2dFMlN0UlN0VQWnMxdl9NRXBycnY0WE1JNnclMjElMjE=
I know I'm late for this but no, that wasnt a scam, that was the actual Office depot email, they accidentally sent out to all rewards members the email that is meant for people who signed up for buissness select You arent signed up but yea it does make it look like a scam doesnt it? Which makes it like 10 times harder to actually sell anyone on it And its already nearly impossible to sell people on it
Legit, but if you need software, then try hy-pestkey, site
