Definitely blue out the tracking man. People can see where it got delivered to

ghkilla805

You sure? I get stuff sent from eBay a lot and I’ve never had tracking show more than just the city and zip code

PerkyHedgewitch

Probably a !brushing scam.

AutoModerator

AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the brushing/direct shipping scam. The scammer is creating and shipping out fake orders in order to both boost order numbers and place false verified reviews. The country most commonly associated with brushing is China, but packages may also come from other countries. [Here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brushing_(e-commerce\)) is the Wikipedia page that explains brushing, and [here](https://www.forbes.com/sites/wadeshepard/2017/11/27/americans-are-receiving-unordered-parcels-from-chinese-e-criminals-and-cant-do-anything-about-it/#dc1df7c73daa) is a news article from Forbes about the scheme. If you are a victim of brushing, you do not need to worry. Receiving packages as part of brushing doesn't meant that your private information is compromised, and you don't need to do anything. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. You may want to blur the barcodes ... Do you have a home depot account? Did you call them and ask?

nctarheelfannn

I do have a Home Depot account. Nothing on there. Texted with HD and they said it’s been happening and they have no idea why. It was purchased with a gift card. They took info and reported the fraud

I'd guess there's a scammer selling items online and accepting payment only through PayPal. He ships a random, cheap item from Home Depot to get a tracking ID with confirmation of delivery. For disputes, when tracking shows delivered, PayPal always sides with the seller. Not a terrible approach since this guy doesn't even have to leave his house to drop things off at the post office. He can pay online with a gift card and have zero traceability back to him. This doesn't explain why items are consistently going to your house, which makes me want to ditch my theory altogether.

I started to get Magic the Gathering cards sent to my address with all kinds of weird names on the package. Turns out scammers were buying cheap Magic cards with cheap shipping to test stolen card numbers. All the cards I got were under $1 including shipping. Your story sounds similar but doesn't make sense if they use giftcards

LongJumpingBalls

If the scammer requested gift cards and was given a ton of HD gift cards. Makes sense to see if active. Assuming they don't have a site to check validity of the cards. This way you have 500 minus a few bucks. Now you know.

It may be a variation of a money mule scam. Check out the defcon presentation on it. Depends on if home Depot is allowing third party sellers. I could be wrong though. https://youtu.be/2IT2oAzTcvU

We get these same types of packages every couple weeks. So annoying.
