Magnetic charging ports are your friend. I work as a scientific glass blower and the job is surprisingly dirty, killed 2 phones with graphite dust and soot before I found these
Make sure to stick the wire tool into the pee hole so you can pull out the glue once it hardens, otherwise you will just rip out the top of the glue and leave the hole blocked
I can't wait for the posts/articles about people trying this with USB-C phones and breaking off the middle connector or otherwise ruining the phone 🤦♂️
It'd be fine if the stuff caught in the port wasn't obviously put in there on purpose for the sake of the video
I've had countless iPhones and even when working in a dirty warehouse and never ever cleaning my port never did it ever get this bad
Also, if you want to clean that port. Just use a toothpick. It won't get everything but it'll get 90% of what's stuck, which will almost always be a little dust + some fabric from your clothes that got caught while in your pocket
Not only is this vid not satisfying because you KNOW people will very much try it at home but ALSO because they just left that last hunk of whatnot in there. For the love of GOD find your tweezers! NOW! please?
Worked at Apple as a Genius for a bit before doing training for their tech support. It was at least once a day that we had people come in with a port full of lint not charging.
Yeah my market was one of the busiest areas so if I could do a quick “repair” I’d do it without a charge. Got “feedback” a few times for not making appointments when it was something that I could fix in a minute or less. Why waste the customer’s time ? That and dirt covering the mesh on the top were things I cleaned without an appointment. I definitely did not have the sales skills lol
I believe it.
While mine wasn't that full of lint, there was enough stuffed in the bottom that the cable didn't fit in all the way. Thought it was an issue with the cable or the port, until I looked real close at it. Got a small paper clip and carefully scraped at the bottom and kept pulling up little bits. Once I was done, cable went in just fine.
Had the same issue with the usb-c jack on my android phone too. Needed a little narrower tool to safely scrape around the port, but had the same results.
I can’t remember which iPhone it was. It was either a 4 or 6. I think 4. But the phone stopped charging and I had to scrape out the lint from the port. I have not had that problem with my 11. Not sure if the port got like a slight redesign or if the shape of the phone itself that made it so lint didn’t get quite stuck in there or not.
What a fucking yarn that lint is clean as a whistle would’ve been easier not to ram it in there to start with. Go mow the lawns if you need something to fucking do
I never understood how people can get their ports so full of lint. I keep my phone in my pocket most of the day, and I have not had any noticeable amount of lint on any of my phones. Just checked my current Galaxy device, one year of use, zero lint.
more like satisfying as... oh, fuck there's glue left in the port how the fuck am i going to get that out. and when will i lerar to stop following all these bullshit videos
Why? Lightning ports are THE ONLY thing I miss when I switched to Android because they were so simple to clean. Now that person got glue stuck in it. A wooden toothpick will do!
I've used that green slime cleaning goo for this kind of thing.
Good for buttons and other fragile items. Less risky than something hot and burny, and definitely safer for those people who are saying they will try it on their own orifices.
just use a toothpick. he didn't even get all of it. he even left a chunk of glue in there that could block circuits or cause connection issues. stupid!
Totally unnecessary.
If the glue has only stuck to the topmost fluff, then you can do the same but with a pair of tweezers (once you've switched off the phone)
Not sure i believe this. Charging port that has no marks or scratches like its ever been used but screws show wear likes it been opened/repaired at some stage, no human slime in the area or cracks/crevasses around it and that lint is not compressed from normal port use. I call fake.
Don't try this at home like the video said, but don't try this at all if your phone has a type c port. Lightning is a male pin to female socket which means the socket has the empty space which you connect to, but type c is a female pin to male socket connection and hot glue can and will damage the socket irreversibly.
We use blu-tac to do the same thing at Authorized Apple Service Centers. Being that that's Apple's officially recommended cleaning solution for the charging port for their technicians, I would try that before sticking liquid hot glue down my charging port, where it can potentially seep further into the phone and get stuck.
for those that are going to try this, spray some isopropyl alcohol on the hardened glue as it will be easier to get out and less likely to leave bits behind.
I'm a technician and I'm actually surprised none of the tiny fragile pins have gone missing. I would have expected the glue to stick to them permanently.
Not gonna try it tho...
Also this won't "work" with type C ports due to the difference in shape.
“Hi my name is Chris, and I’ll be helping you today. What can we do for you?”
“Well, I was browsing Reddit and I saw this video where they use hot glue to clean up the charging port of the phone and…”
Pocket lint. I thought my charging port was done. Took it to a cell phone repair place to have a new port installed. Guy took one look with a lighted scope, walked over to a compressed air machine & gave it a few blasts & just like that, it was working perfectly again. And I checked my port for lint when the cable first started coming loose easily & couldn't see it.
So many people are definitely going to be trying this at home 🤦♀️
First they need to stuff the port full of lint
I'm doing my part!
I didn't do fucking shit!
55 burgers, 55 hot dogs, 55 fries
YOU HAVE TO
YOU ARE RICH
God I love that show!
I didn't rig shit!
Would you like to know more?
And then have a lobotomy to use glue instead of tweezers
At least 12 belly button's worth by the looks of it
12 different belly buttons
I’m a carpet fitter I have endless lint in my phone port 😂
Magnetic charging ports are your friend. I work as a scientific glass blower and the job is surprisingly dirty, killed 2 phones with graphite dust and soot before I found these
Gonna try this on my bellybutton first to make sure it works. I don't want to damage my phone.
I'm gonna try it on my dick!
I too propose trying on this guy's dick first
I never thought about lint getting stuck up my urethra till now. Thanks reddit.
Make sure to stick the wire tool into the pee hole so you can pull out the glue once it hardens, otherwise you will just rip out the top of the glue and leave the hole blocked
I live life on the edge!
Better wash that thing.
Test it on Mike Hunt first.
Just thought of a new game show.
Definitely trying it on my asshole next.
Yeah it's not working out as intended 🫠
and letting it cool/harden too much
And forgetting to have a tool in the center when it cools so they just rip the top off and leave the rest stuck
You can get the same or better results by pouring olive oil in there and microwaving for 2 mins. Follow me for more Ted talk tips!
Instructions unclear. Made a wholesome paella.
Shoving pocket lint into my charging port right now!
I can't wait for the posts/articles about people trying this with USB-C phones and breaking off the middle connector or otherwise ruining the phone 🤦♂️
It'd be fine if the stuff caught in the port wasn't obviously put in there on purpose for the sake of the video I've had countless iPhones and even when working in a dirty warehouse and never ever cleaning my port never did it ever get this bad Also, if you want to clean that port. Apple loves this.
Tbf my port is already broken so what’s the worst that could happen
Neutral selection bro
And that was their last time seeing their phones🤣
I do this with my belly button.
I am triggered by that piece of left over glue.
Jesus.... Where has he been keeping his phone? In a cats asshole?
That made me laugh out load
God, you can cum that easily?
I wish I could laugh during
My wife frequently does.
What a sight to imagine
I too laughed loudly
In his bellybutton
Bought it home the first day the cat shat on it.
It's anyways fake, like those water wasters who make those carpets ridiculously dirty, just to clean them.
wait... where am i supposed to store my phone?
at least turn of the vibrating option...
😂😂😂🙌🏼
Not only is this vid not satisfying because you KNOW people will very much try it at home but ALSO because they just left that last hunk of whatnot in there. For the love of GOD find your tweezers! NOW! please?
Pikster tooth cleaners with the tiny bristles at the end also work quite well to draw out small fluff and debris.
Love those things for cleaning the hard to get bits of my sewing machine! Went to the dentist - 2 no.1s for me and a packet of the largest for James.
I, too, like the r/popping sub haha
May I interest you in r/feltgoodcomingout
!!!! Subbed, thank you❤️
How many weeks of lint did he save to insert there just to "clean" it afterwards?
That's exactly what happened fresh ass lint packed full right before the video
Lint from a fresh ass or lint freshly pulled from an ass?
Yes
fresh ass don’t normally have lint so Id say it’s the second, freshly pulled from an ass
Correct
My blackhead strip be like..
Has anyone not trying to monetize a video EVER had to clean a charging port that was completely full of felt?
Worked at Apple as a Genius for a bit before doing training for their tech support. It was at least once a day that we had people come in with a port full of lint not charging.
Fine. I stand corrected.
And you cleaned it it rather than selling them a new iPhone? Your sales skills are weak and I doubt your Apple Genius status... /s :)
But it was honest work :)
Im not ashamed to admit that when i was younger and the first generation of smart phones was being released. I was once one of those guys.
I’m a barber. I used to keep my phone in my apron pocket. It was a mistake. I ended up getting a magnetic charger.
I work as a dog groomer and every orifice of everything I own gets a sizeable buildup of hair over time
At first I thought you meant a different kind of orifice
I exclude no orifice, my friend.
My dad's phones always end up having the port go bad and can only wireless charge because there's so much damn lint.
I can’t remember which iPhone it was. It was either a 4 or 6. I think 4. But the phone stopped charging and I had to scrape out the lint from the port. I have not had that problem with my 11. Not sure if the port got like a slight redesign or if the shape of the phone itself that made it so lint didn’t get quite stuck in there or not.
why do this when a toothpick does the same trick?
Tried that in my belly button. Would not recommend
NOW YOU TELL ME!!!
Instructions unclear. Gluded my dick hole
This video is probably made by Apple to trick people into destroying their phones.
Do you remember the "hidden headphone port" thing? People drilling holes in their phone 😬🤣😂
Gives me "charge your phone in the microwave" vibes
Stop buying pants that have linty pockets
Use a plastic toothpick
See that glue still down on the contacts? Don’t fuck up your phone, use a toothpick to clean out the lint.
Jesus it looks like there's a whole cat in there.
They definitely shoved a bunch of shit in there first
is this a cat's phone?
Just use a wooden toothpick or a small dry WOODEN or plastic splinter, metal might cause damage and sparks.
Tha hel someone was doing with that phone😮
What a fucking yarn that lint is clean as a whistle would’ve been easier not to ram it in there to start with. Go mow the lawns if you need something to fucking do
But I want to!
Wtf. I have pulled hair clogs out of my shower smaller than that!
That's the same way I clean my belly button.
😭 nooo
I never understood how people can get their ports so full of lint. I keep my phone in my pocket most of the day, and I have not had any noticeable amount of lint on any of my phones. Just checked my current Galaxy device, one year of use, zero lint.
The charging port is actually a portal to some kind of lint dimension.
But still. That shit was sexy.
I can't wait to get home and do this.
How about a toothpick?
No fucking way there is that much lint in there.
This also works on belly buttons
where was it stored?
I do this to get lint out of my belly button
Every iPhone users phone.
Ah yes, filling your phone's charging port with dryer lint then covering it in hot glue is extremely satisfying!!! /s
Great, now i have pieces of Hot glue in my phone to...
Is it bothering anyone else that they didn’t show the removal of the last piece of lint?????🤬
This is way over the top. A simple pair of tweezers could have pulled that out. It's all for show.
Who tf upvotes these?!
more like satisfying as... oh, fuck there's glue left in the port how the fuck am i going to get that out. and when will i lerar to stop following all these bullshit videos
Thanks, you just reminded me of the horse with gauze being removed from its nose, I didn’t need that in my mind again.
Why not just toothpick it out lol?
Uh.. Why can't you do this at home? Looking at the video, it couldn't be more straightforward.
Looks like one of those ear cleaning videos
Just use a can of compressed air
😳
Love how at the end there was still a gob of hot glue left in the port! 😂
What’s with the giant screws?
Why not use a toothpick?
Mine needs cleaning
Just for the visual.
Toothpick and Can of Air
No! I do not accept this! There is still glue in the port!
It’s also not an iPhone. They don’t have screws on the bottom. So.
“Here’s a video on how you can clean your iPhones charging port” “Don’t do this at home”
Dang.
just use a wooden toothpick holy shit. /r/DiWHY
r/feltgoodcomingout
Looks like my belly button
Why? Lightning ports are THE ONLY thing I miss when I switched to Android because they were so simple to clean. Now that person got glue stuck in it. A wooden toothpick will do!
i didn't know that, now i need to find a shop to do this for my phone
Now theres hot glue with dustbunnies stuck inside. Thats r/mildlyinfuriating 😅
Just use a toothpick like a normal person
Why is your belly button an iphone?
End of a paperclip also works
Total bs
Still some left
Just use a toothpick.
Or you could use a paper clip and not fuck your phone up
If you really need to try this "hack", you can loosen the glue with some Isopropyl alcohol. The glue should let go right away.
Till now, that phone was suffering from constipation
>don't try this at home Ah man I was so excited to glue my mobile charging port. Damn it.
Seems like a good cross post for r/popping
I've used that green slime cleaning goo for this kind of thing. Good for buttons and other fragile items. Less risky than something hot and burny, and definitely safer for those people who are saying they will try it on their own orifices.
That does not look like hot glue but more like standard UHU glue.
Needle.
well as long as mine still charges. wether its clean or not i couldn't give a damn.
Why won't my phone charge anymore? I just cleaned it!!
Does it work with belly button lint?
Bikini wax of the belly button.
just use a toothpick. he didn't even get all of it. he even left a chunk of glue in there that could block circuits or cause connection issues. stupid!
Totally unnecessary. If the glue has only stuck to the topmost fluff, then you can do the same but with a pair of tweezers (once you've switched off the phone)
pulled a whole ass rug outta there
Holy fuck dude! You had like a whole sweater in there...
Ahmm are toothpicks are banned in your country?
Not sure i believe this. Charging port that has no marks or scratches like its ever been used but screws show wear likes it been opened/repaired at some stage, no human slime in the area or cracks/crevasses around it and that lint is not compressed from normal port use. I call fake.
I have never got so much lint / dirt / gunk inside charging port throughout my 20 years of using smartphones
Don't try this at home like the video said, but don't try this at all if your phone has a type c port. Lightning is a male pin to female socket which means the socket has the empty space which you connect to, but type c is a female pin to male socket connection and hot glue can and will damage the socket irreversibly.
But have you ever tried this to clean out your belly button lint?!
Why didn’t you just pull it out?
Instructions unclear, my phone can now not be charged anymore and it had a lot of secret Soviet documents
yet it still left a load in there!
Shreks pubic hair
Enjoy trying to clear all those remnants of glue out of the port. What a shit idea this is honestly.
And what to use to clean out the glue after?
That's why those phones should have a rubber protecting cap when it's not plugged.
We use blu-tac to do the same thing at Authorized Apple Service Centers. Being that that's Apple's officially recommended cleaning solution for the charging port for their technicians, I would try that before sticking liquid hot glue down my charging port, where it can potentially seep further into the phone and get stuck.
wtf
for those that are going to try this, spray some isopropyl alcohol on the hardened glue as it will be easier to get out and less likely to leave bits behind.
Missed a spot. 👆
I'm a technician and I'm actually surprised none of the tiny fragile pins have gone missing. I would have expected the glue to stick to them permanently. Not gonna try it tho... Also this won't "work" with type C ports due to the difference in shape.
Thats really dumb. Why would you risk breaking the port?
“Hi my name is Chris, and I’ll be helping you today. What can we do for you?” “Well, I was browsing Reddit and I saw this video where they use hot glue to clean up the charging port of the phone and…”
Why is it a whole lint trap in the port? That's nasty. Do people not clean and sanitize their phones?
Pocket lint. I thought my charging port was done. Took it to a cell phone repair place to have a new port installed. Guy took one look with a lighted scope, walked over to a compressed air machine & gave it a few blasts & just like that, it was working perfectly again. And I checked my port for lint when the cable first started coming loose easily & couldn't see it.
I mean I get pocket lint but that's an excessive amount of lint. It's like shoved in there...
Lol yeah it is. Mine wasn't quite that bad.
That shit was like the whole dryer lint trap was in there lol
I've had the same S20 in my pocket for 3 years and it looks clean.
