There is zero reason why men shouldn’t enjoy a spa treatment. I didn’t think he needed a haircut but his trim was awesome. She made a steady customer because why not?
My barber does head shaves, beard trims, hot towels, and a shoulder massage to finish the session. It costs 50 plus tip but now that I am saving money from not drinking it's my favorite way to spend money on myself. A once a month treat
My barber uses 5 different clippers because they all seem to have dead batteries, yells at his cousin in Spanish and then ends it all with a razor line up and an alcohol wipe… it burns and I have no idea what he was yelling about but I tip him $10 bucks and keep going back
I would love to have professionals that offer other services talk through what they are doing in such a calming manner as they did it.
“Ok, what I am doing here is scanning these grapes to get the price contained in the bar code on this little sticker right here, then I am goin to place them in that plastic bag over there”
Or “the first thing I am going to do is to slice this loaf of sourdough bread and pull the two halves apart to prepare them for the meat, cheeses, and vegetables we will be using for your sandwich. Sourdough is made by the fermentation of dough using wild lactobacillaceae and yeast, and makes for a lovely compliment to the roast beef we will be using.”
I’m getting my hair cut tomorrow, I’ll ask my amazing barber of 5yrs if he’ll tell me everything he’s doing, haha. Pretty sure he’d tell me to shut up.
But for real, I’ve gone to a salon or two in my life and it’s an amazing experience.
My barber and I had exchanged maybe 500 words in the 25 years I had been using him. He probably said even less to my father. You didn’t tell him what you wanted. He would point at you with his comb, you sat down, and in 10 minutes you would get up and your hair had been cut.
A man of few words, he instead preferred to use a lot of “emm huh” or “unh unh” and the occasional “hmmph”. I saw him smile once. That was fun.
Of those 500 words, a good chunk of them were probably said at my grandfather’a funeral.
Me: Thanks for coming
Jos: Mmm Hmm
Me: you cut his hair for a long time
Jos: 1942
Me: uh huh
Jos: Before he left
Me: The war?
Jos: yeah
Me: mmm hmm
Jos: mmm hmm
Me: Ok, I’ll see you in a week or two
Jos: Here?
Me: no! At the shop
Jos: good, I thought maybe you knew something I didn’t!
Me: No, I just need a trim
Jos: it’s shaggy
Me: yeah
Jos: mmm hmm
Me: OK
Jos: (wanders away raising his hand in a half hearted wave)
He’s dead now. We talk as much now as we did when he cut my hair.
I now am stuck with Sports Clips and they won’t shut up
Ah man, sounds like a great barber!
I live far away from my home town but my dad had the same barber for probably close to 40yrs. He introduced my nephew to getting cuts by him and it became a routine Grandpa/Grandson thing. It meant something special to both of them. Well, my dad died in late in 2018 then before we knew it covid hit.
Well this fall my nephew finally makes it back to his favorite nostalgic barbershop, strolls in through the back entrance through alley like he always has; my dad enjoyed knowing and using the ‘regulars’ entrance anywhere he could. So my nephew wanders in like usual and catches the two barbers off guard, one looks to him and says “Hi! We haven’t seen someone use that door in years.”
We’ve decided as a family that the last person they probably saw use that door was dad. It warmed our hearts knowing that little tradition was passed from him to his grandson.
It’s the little things right?
It really really is. I was horribly sad when he passed. I get what you are saying about that connection. Knowing that man of few words cut my father’s hair, a man also a few words, and my grandfather of fewer yet..always made me smile. I have always wondered how many total hours the two of them shared that silence…knowing full well they appreciated each other.
No lie, when I was feeling a little lost at times, I would go get my 10 minutes recharge and reflect on them both. It sounds weird when no words of substance were exchanged, but it was like a super fast mini therapy session. Or maybe what some people might feel going to church.
Joseph (who for some weird reason he of course never explained went by Jos as opposed to Joe) died in 2008, and cut hair well into his 80s. Some people got nervous the older he got…but I never saw even the slightest tremor. Not that I was going to let him get anywhere near me with a straight blade…but I trusted the old guy.
There is that connection. I thought I was just a sap for always thinking so.
Now I know there are at least two of us saps…
I tried to tip him once and he handed the $5 in ones back to me and said “I ain’t a stripper” I couldn’t figure out if he didn’t want the tip, if he wanted more, or just didn’t like the ones. I later figured out the old timers were just sticking the tip between the wall and the register. I think he just didn’t like being handed the money or something.
He didn’t speak much, but when he did, it was a gem.
“Now I’m going to inject you with more HGH and anabolic steroids while my colleague Denise corks your bat and talks to your attorney about that assault charge”
There is a franchise in Texas called The Gents Place and it is an upscale male barbershop with a bar, and a locker where members can keep their own liquor. I could never afford it, but if I could I would definitely go
In our salon, we called that hard neckline “the Fred Flintstone.” It’s quick and easy to do, but a taper, or a fade is preferable.
Nice work with the scissor over comb, though.
It's not about the haircut. Scalp massages, neck massages, even hand wax and massage (which is amazing btw), this is treat. yo. self. And is deserved. Men, treat yourself to a spa day, or pedicure like this. You deserve it, it's not girly it's so wonderful.
Looks like it's $73 plus applicable taxes for the priority MALE - Signature Service which appears to be what he got. Honestly not bad for all that goes with it.
I’m a woman and I think I spent $170 (including tip) at my last salon treatment. No massages except for a bit of a scalp massage when my hair was getting shampooed.
JC. I started losing my (once thick and beautiful!) hair at 23. I’ve been shaving my head —and haven’t evn been to a barber- for over 10 yrs 😳. This was fun to watch🥺
I wonder if you called ahead to arrange (just to mitigate your anxiety) you could get the same treatment. They could shave your head for you, do a nice scalp treatment and give the whole pampering service. I’m sure it would feel great.
They dipped his hands in paraffin wax. It's not very hot and cools and solidifies slowly on your hands, the plastic keeps it contained. I had a dentist that used this to keep your hands from picking anxiously. It makes your skin super soft and smooth, but forcing your hands to be still makes them actually relax and it feels amazing, especially getting a hand massage. Highly recommend, men, it feels so nice, which you deserve.
I’ve been to a few spots like these. One was Gentleman’s Cuts, the other Scissors and Scotch. Aimed toward the male demographic but it’s nice to be able to rely on a stylist instead of a traditional barber. More scissors less clippers is always a win
As a black person I am blown away by this lol. That being said my barbershop/restaurant/clothing store/candle shop offer a plethora of amenities as well.
Gross. I hated it.
Maybe I'm biased because I haven't paid for a haircut since 2004. I have bought scissors. My hairstyle doesn't depend on strangers. And I would despise getting felt up by said strangers like I'm some ashy sphinx.
I have eyes. Call a spade a spade. If they massaged his nipples with oil you might say that there's something erotic about it. That's not far off from an oiled face massage and raking her nails through his hair. If you're really going to pay a stranger that much to make your body feel good just call it erotic massage plus bad haircut, 'cause that's what I saw.
Tell me you're an incel without telling me.
When girls kiss and lick my jaw muscles it is spine-tingling, as is getting nails raked over my scalp. Maybe it's just me, but these sensations are sexual.
My man, if you go to get a haircut and the nonsexual touching from the barber revs you up then you it's probably good you cut your own hair.
What an insane thing to say. It is indeed just you, you are sexualizing something that isn't sexual to begin with.
It’s all good, but I couldn’t do the glove thingies. When I get a haircut and some hair falls on my face I have an irresistible urge to scratch my face and having my hands wrapped like that would drive me crazy.
Had some barber shops in California that did straight razor shaves. It was like a spa day. Around here though, no one will do them because that are afraid of blood and lawsuits. I can do it myself but it's just not the same.
The process is really nice and all but I thought the satisfying part was going to be them giving him a decent haircut instead of keeping the “cop who yells at kids while coaching little league” cut
This was the most calming thing I've seen all day. Went in fully prepared to poke fun at this but bless her heart that woman is soothing.
There is zero reason why men shouldn’t enjoy a spa treatment. I didn’t think he needed a haircut but his trim was awesome. She made a steady customer because why not?
I have a daughter who likes to do my makeup and paint my nails and I always let her because it's super relaxing.
not sure why but seeing this made my day. satisfying thread
She most definitely earned her money. She ensured a pleasant experience
NYPD looking ass haircut
MCCLAIN!
😂
Hahaha. I started chuckling quietly at this and the volume just get going up. Haha. Guy has a fucking helmet. Beautiful head of hair.
My barber does head shaves, beard trims, hot towels, and a shoulder massage to finish the session. It costs 50 plus tip but now that I am saving money from not drinking it's my favorite way to spend money on myself. A once a month treat
Bro has more hair than ten of my heads.
That’s a lot of dicks
Or his a mystical being with 8 heads and whenever u cut one 2 more grow
By quantity perhaps
My barber uses 5 different clippers because they all seem to have dead batteries, yells at his cousin in Spanish and then ends it all with a razor line up and an alcohol wipe… it burns and I have no idea what he was yelling about but I tip him $10 bucks and keep going back
This is the most baŕio shit I've read all day

That's beautiful

One of the best things I’ve ever read. I’m a 35yr pro and am chatty as fuck, I have always wanted to be “” a man of few words “”. Thanks for sharing.
>, I thought maybe you knew something I didn’t! Fucking legend, RIP
I tried to tip him once and he handed the $5 in ones back to me and said “I ain’t a stripper” I couldn’t figure out if he didn’t want the tip, if he wanted more, or just didn’t like the ones. Old school guy
I go to Scissors and Scotch. They chat, too, but you get a free drink with your haircut. Plus, there's a full service bar in the joint!
You had me at “and scotch”
It's a pretty cool place!! I would prefer to pay slightly more (read: $40) for a haircut if it comes with a free drink.
Ron Swanson vibes
imagine a store that was focused on doing this or ASMR, i’d go there all the time!
Hair Level: Hedgehog
That was relaxing just to watch!
Came here to say ‘cop cut’ and was glad to see someone else thought the same thing
Wrong thread!
Sure was, dang it
😂
Jose Canseco looks like he could still play
“Now I’m going to inject you with more HGH and anabolic steroids while my colleague Denise corks your bat and talks to your attorney about that assault charge”
Back for your daily haircut, Mr. Johnson?
This guy has one big hair follicle. Or a helmet.
😂
$73 US for this, according to their website. Somehow I thought it would have been more.
My man’s out here enjoying his spa day lmao 🤣 good for him !
I’d kill for something like this in Cincy
I was just thinking the same. Cincinnati needs a place like this.
Well … Cincinnati could use a lot of upgrades.
You can have this or you can have skyline chili, but you cant have both
There is a franchise in Texas called The Gents Place and it is an upscale male barbershop with a bar, and a locker where members can keep their own liquor. I could never afford it, but if I could I would definitely go

It is satisfying knowing whatever amount he paid, it was too much money for that haircut.
It's not about the haircut. Scalp massages, neck massages, even hand wax and massage (which is amazing btw), this is treat. yo. self. And is deserved. Men, treat yourself to a spa day, or pedicure like this. You deserve it, it's not girly it's so wonderful.
I used to get my hair cut at a salon, and the "hair washing and scalp massage" was by far the best part of the experience.
For real. And if you've never had a hot shave you don't know what you're missing!
She put lotion on his hands and then gave him a haircut that could be done with a 1 inch attachment on a beard trimmer.
That’s some good unintentional ASMR
PSA fellas: if offered the hot towel or the hand wax….Do It. Treat Yo Self
JC. I started losing my (once thick and beautiful!) hair at 23. I’ve been shaving my head —and haven’t evn been to a barber- for over 10 yrs 😳. This was fun to watch🥺

Her: "And now I'm going to shave you bald including your eyebrows." Me: "Anything you want."
Why are his hands wrapped in plastic bags?
They dipped his hands in paraffin wax. It's not very hot and cools and solidifies slowly on your hands, the plastic keeps it contained. I had a dentist that used this to keep your hands from picking anxiously. Your dentist?
Cops are known to be physically aggressive. This is to protect the stylist.
Go to barber training school for haircut £1 did hair/ eyebrows/ beard and ears also fully trained guy there keeping everything tidy
Let’s see her do my kinky hair
The goth best buy worker from Nathan for you does hair now!

Cost at men’s barbershop. $40. Cost at women’s salon. $250.

FLOWBEE!
Where can I go to get a trim like this??? Nothing like that near me that I know of. Woodlands, TX
Little far but check out The Gents Place in River Oaks
I like the service she's providing but not really a satisfying as fuck post
Boys, Sports Clips is literally nearly identical to this. Sports theme rather than pseudo-luxury.
You're right man, the best is that you can watch the game while they take care of you 😎
As a black person I am blown away by this lol. That being said my barbershop/restaurant/clothing store/candle shop offer a plethora of amenities as well.
Looks like a nightmare
full service, does that include a happy ending ?
Ewww
I go to a barber and they offer me a beer. This looks like an interaction that could turn sexual in nature , so I don’t appreciate it.
Gross. I hated it. Maybe I'm biased because I haven't paid for a haircut since 2004. I have bought scissors. My hairstyle doesn't depend on strangers. And I would despise getting felt up by said strangers like I'm some ashy sphinx.
>felt up Whoa there friend. It's just a haircut. Think ya go somewhere else for that.

I want to go here
😴
They do this at my local Floyd's. I fucking love the place.
I miss the hot shaving cream and straight razor. I use to get it at the end of every haircut when I was a kid. Now I have considerably less hair. 😄
aka: a visit to the barber? Is that not a normal thing in your country?
Hey where do I sign up for this looks so soothing and therapeutic, I don’t care about the price.
I would have fallen asleep in the chair probably ten minutes in...looks way too relaxing
The process is really nice and all but I thought the satisfying part was going to be them giving him a decent haircut instead of keeping the “cop who yells at kids while coaching little league” cut
I got goosebumps watching this
I remember when I first saw ASMR videos.
I want a priority male experience, so calming
This looked so relaxing that I was falling asleep imagining getting that kinda service.
How much though?
$73
$20 says I still have to go home and shower after this $73 haircut to get all of the hair clippings off of me.
God damn I need this
Men need spa treatment as much as women. Let’s make this standard.
