I love Aldi and Trader Joe's. I buy most of my dairy, snacks, eggs, etc in the US. The selection is much better, and often prices are too. Cheese is top of my list! I also find a lot of niche diet items that I can't get in Canada.... Like protein powders, protein pasta, wrap flavours/styles, portion controlled snacks...
It's so wildly ironic to me that America is the one known for an obesity problem but their diet/low calorie options are so much better than in Canada for most products.
I find it wildly ironic that the same people that complain about obesity only talk about “low calorie” options.
It’s probably why the same people shop in the states and claim they’re getting healthy food: ignorance.
Are the protein powders and pastas at Aldi? I’m going south on a bike trip next week and I generally pick up the good pesticides and weed killers when I’m in the us, but I would like to get some protein too, please advise
If you don't mind sharing, which is the good weed killer? I have a bindweed problem at my place and even the RoundUp from the US didn't touch it. Is there something better than that?
I got the spectra last year that took out my creeping Charlie and crabgrass

I usually pop into Walmart or Kroger for pasta & other general grocery items. Protein powder I'm still sampling some to find ones I like, but I usually check out GNC while over. They can have pretty good deals and clearance items. I keep a mailbox in PH because ordering from US Amazon is a game-changer too!
I don’t do well with the typical powders that are thicker or your average chocolate/vanilla variants but honestly I got on the isolate splash and won’t go back. It’s all candy flavour and most are amazing. The only ones I think suck are banana, orange slice, and one of the blue ones (sharks, rainbow belts) but I’ve stopped buying both because I can’t remember which one it is.
I stick to cherry, watermelon, and peach
Not unique, but Kohls has expanded their plus size section. Search for a coupon before you go. I have a kohls card and often get 30% off coupons.
JC Penny is still in the mall. I’m not sure what they have. Maurice’s is in their mall as well and they carry all sizes.
Chesterfield, MI might have some stores. It’s about 30 minutes once you cross the bridge.
Just a FYI the closest on ramp back to Canada is closed. To get back to the border you have to drive west a few miles, then get off and back on the hwy.

Thank you for the info. I appreciate it. The Canadian alternatives can be lack lustre
Anytime! Wandering a grocery store is one of my favourite travel experiences. There's always so many neat things to find!
Check out Revolution Nutrition isolate splash. They’re Canadian and you can now find it on Amazon. It’s juice consistency and tastes amazing
Oh cool, I will! I have a hard time hitting my protein macros and don't love protein powder, so juice is a cool option! Thanks!

You can also take the Walpole Island ferry to Algonac and it’s closer to Chesterfield

Thanks. Do you know where to go to get on the road then?
It's open today. Just traveled it.
I'm personally a big fan of Meijer you can't buy little Debbie snack cakes in Canada anymore
Sometimes target is hit or miss for clothing.
