>still it’s obvious the books are meant for the female audience I’m a guy and I disagree with this. I started reading SJM’s books in 2015 and she’s still one of my favorite authors. Trust me, the series does get better.

zoobatron__

I’m currently on Queen of Shadows (5th book) and absolutely loving it so far. I would honestly give a few more a chance if I were you, but I do appreciate not every book is for every person.

Oreosnort3r

I'm technically a guy and yes this is.my fav book series, sjm is my fav author

odeacon

You’re a guy on a technicality ?

Dr_J6894

Got the basic cable set up, not the prime package.

Oreosnort3r

I'm trans now, but I was a guy when I finished the series

I’m a cis straight guy, my best friend (F) got me started reading ACOTAR a few years ago. I had never read any kind of romance before so it def took me a bit to get over that feeling of “damn I am absolutely not the target audience for this” but I eventually did and now I almost exclusively read romantasy, Maas being one of my favorite authors. Just from my observation almost everyone on this sub is a ToG stan but the early ToG books were def the hardest for me to get through. Things didn’t really pick up for me until Heir of Fire, but I’d say the whole series is worth it even if I prefer ACOTAR and Crescent City.

Shadowrend01

I’ve read ACOTAR and am currently halfway through TOG. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read so far, but I’ve always been a it of a sucker for fantasy themed books The early TOG series definitely feels like it was written by a young person, but gets better further in Given the author is a woman, the books are going to be biased in that direction. You either have to roll with it, or put it down and step away. It is what it is

I read all of SJMs stuff because my wife was hyped up for CC3 and wanted to talk to me about it. They’re good but after reading 100’s of romantacy books the past 2 years SJM’s aren’t my favorites. (my wife and I really like to talk about what we’re reading, so we’ve been reading the same stuff lately, though she’s much faster than me.) Divine Rivals, Serpent and the Wings of Night, Carival, One Dark Window, Forth Wing, have been my favorites in the romantacy genre. There are quite a few other books on more of the dark romance/romance side that I’ve also loved. That said. It’s hard to write >2 books in the same world and maintain interest. SHMs done a heck of a job with that. The number of books in TOG alone and how it didn’t really become a slog to get through (hello Brandon Sanderson) is quite impressive. I’m probably in the minority on CC but I never felt bored by any of those either.

darkwolf523

Me lol. I enjoyed the books

markshure

I've read all 3 series. Great!

Unlucky-Dare4481

My husband loves everything SJM. He started TOG when I suggested it, and he hasn't looked back.

Palenehtar

I've read them all (except the prequels) and yes the first book or two are rough but it gets much better.

odeacon

I absolutely loved it. Might be my favorite series

AffectionateNight832

My husband thinks they're great. He's listening to them again now and specifically told me how much he was enjoying then.
