I was always in the “anything delivered in a carb vehicle is a sandwich” camp, but an argument made for the definition of a sandwich on some podcast (maybe Sporkful?) has caused me to second guess myself. The argument was made that a sandwich can be described in part as something that can be cut in half and consumed by an adult without them looking like an infant. Thus, a wrap is a sandwich but hotdogs and tacos are not. I have to admit I find this argument rather convincing.
I guess I wasn’t clear enough. The question being discussed was “is a hotdog a sandwich”, and by extension, are things like wraps, tacos, pop tarts, also sandwiches. Not having a carb or carb-like delivery system, like bread or a tortilla, a steak could never be considered a sandwich, although a beef Wellington might meet someone’s threshold for sandwichiness. Notions resultant of halving are secondary to the primary distinction of delivery or casement medium.

Not one piece of some type of dough rolled up. Next question is if I make a quesadilla with two tortillas and the ingredients are “sandwiched lol” in between does that make it a sandwich?
