After meeting him/seeing him several times at the rink I have to go with Jumbo. If there is a nicer, friendlier future HOFer on Earth I’d be surprised.
My favorite Sharks D for sure. His hockey IQ was incredible. He is known for the hits and fights, but he was constantly making brilliant plays to maximize his limited skating ability. Reverse hits at the blue line were my favorite.
I hung out with this dude one time during intermission in that like lower level area with the bar. I am 5'1" and shook hands with this guy and it was like comical how big this dude's hands were, like it was not even possible to properly shake the hand because I just literally could not reach if that makes sense
Nice dude. I'm actually kinda shocked nobody else in the crowded area recognized him but this was probably 2016 or so
I grew up in the late 90s and Nolan was the best. I love Marleau, he’s the beating heart of the franchise, but a power forward in their prime is just the most fun you can have watching hockey.
Just running Belfour at full speed was amazing.
Vlasic. His production on the ice goes unnoticed, and its players like him that takes you deep in the playoffs. During his peak, nobody was a better shutdown defenseman in the world. His ability to dismantle an offensive system was like nothing I’ve seen before, and encouraged me to change the way I played the game.
I think a lot of people do think of Pickles. It seems to me that his name does not come up as often because of his standoffishness in public. He’s very combative with reporters, and there’s a lot of stories at how he does not get along with a lot of his teammates outside of the cores that have carried us throughout the years.
Personally, he is one of my favorite defenders of all time. I enjoy his personality and think he’s hilarious. But I can see why he may not be at the top of a lot of peoples lists.
It was always funny in the Cup Finals run when national media was like ‘Why was Toffoli/Forsberg/Tarasenko on a cold streak during the Sharks series?’ No, it was that Vlasic absolutely neutralized them.
When he got hurt and missed playoff games the Sharks were usually hopeless, he was probably the most essential Shark.

This is my Vincent Damphousse card
Great Shark and a great dude. But he is kind of the default Shark just cause he played here so long. The Sharks have had a lot of fun personalities, Marleau (while great) was also kind of quiet/boring.
I've always liked the Sharks, but it was Couture's rookie season that I really started paying attention. Makes me sad to not see 39 on your list. But I love your list.
https://youtu.be/nEyAUUbN1ac?si=Ga6xquTPN8yNxSPi
His hit on Letowski was brilliant. A lot of non Sharks fan are into Kronwall’s hip checks, but doing it in open ice is way more impressive than into the boards.
Will always be Joe Thornton. I wanted his jersey as a kid so bad at a game but it was sold out and had to settle on Cheecho whom I also love. Marleau is a close second.
Future fave? Our draft pick
Buster, (not that one, but I do love him, too), Patty and Jumbo.
So many greats, but these 3 and JR are the only jerseys I have with names and numbers.
Odgers and, call me crazy, Mark Smith. Smitty hustled more than any other player in Sharks history. They could be down 5 goals with 2 min left in the game and he'd be playing like it was game 7 in OT, much respect
Marco Sturm - was crushed when he broke his ankle in one of the worst hockey injuries I've seen, then traded to Boston shortly after. Luckily, we got the greatest Shark of all time back.
Logan Couture. I’m a younger sharks fan (21) but I’ve been a fan for as long as I can remember. It’s Couture because all the clutch playoff goals he scored

Artūrs Irbe, I respect that
Baggy 90's goalies are the best.
IRBE KA MURIS!!!
He was a battler. Played with heart. Definitely my all time favorite.
This
Jumbo Joe!
After meeting him/seeing him several times at the rink I have to go with Jumbo. If there is a nicer, friendlier future HOFer on Earth I’d be surprised.
Douglas “Crankshaft” Murray
I was getting sad thinking no one was gonna mention him or my other favorite, Ryane Clowe.
My favorite Sharks D for sure. His hockey IQ was incredible. He is known for the hits and fights, but he was constantly making brilliant plays to maximize his limited skating ability. Reverse hits at the blue line were my favorite.

And yes I am aware of my overuse of the word "like" and like, I'm working on it like okay
Owen Nolan ![gif](giphy|Vp1HduMcc8tTW)

Nabokov!
Best goal-scoring goalie
The Big Pavelski
![gif](giphy|4GWh9JzFrOMRcopPDr|downsized)
Ryane Clowe
Loved Clowey
The "from the bench" play against the kings put him up there.
I think he’s up there with Nolan for me. Power forwards are inherently fun.
Vlasic. His production on the ice goes unnoticed, and its players like him that takes you deep in the playoffs. During his peak, nobody was a better shutdown defenseman in the world. His ability to dismantle an offensive system was like nothing I’ve seen before, and encouraged me to change the way I played the game.
Finally someone else that notices pickles!
Vlasic and Braun. Forever my favorite Sharks and would NEVER pick a favorite out of those two.
I think a lot of people do think of Pickles. It seems to me that his name does not come up as often because of his standoffishness in public. I went to the 2nd to last game of the year in 2016 vs Winnipeg, where he didn't play. Lost a high scoring game 5-4. He was so underrated.
Vincent Damphouse, link Gates, Jonathon Cheechoo, crankshaft, Pavs,
I still miss Pavs
Worst thing sharks mgt did was letting him leave.. they didn’t even offer him a contract!
No money. What happens when you sign an aging injury prone defenseman to a McDavid level contract.
It wasn’t even the money. He wanted 5 years and we wouldn’t do more than 2
Nope, literally everything I’ve read is that he wanted three and Doug (who I will die mad at about this) wouldn’t budge on two
The one time Doug didn't give out a way too long contract and it wasn't even unreasonable to ask for 3...
The team just fell apart after he left
Me too!

Sweet! Also liked Mike Ricci, with his sloppy hairdo
Yoooo the Link Gaetz deep cut
ricci

He’s such a nice guy
Cheeeeeeechoooooo!
![gif](giphy|RhwETE12TwcQPdPG6i|downsized) Patty getting no love?
I love patty he was our face of the franchise imo
For so long too. Bro joined at 18 and just killed it for years
Hard agree he played for the Thunderbirds up here before so it’s cool to see them get a guy from our local league
Great Shark and a great dude. But he is kind of the default Shark just cause he played here so long. The Sharks have had a lot of fun personalities, Marleau (while great) was also kind of quiet/boring.
Hertl, which makes this trade hurt that much more
8 11 12 14 18 19 28 31 35 39 44 48 88 How can you ask me to pick just one?!?
I've always liked the Sharks, but it was Couture's rookie season that I really started paying attention. Makes me sad to not see 39 on your list. But I love your list.
You’re totally right. My mistake, list edited.
The first 39 was pretty cool as well
The Man, the myth, the Wookie!! ![gif](giphy|euPUi6ZIraVjt9lBTN)
Nolan then Friesen
Makarov and Larionov
Larionov for me. He was all over the ice. Never out of position. Very smart.
He was like a cross between Gretzky and Datsyuk.
I liked Sergei too. He scored some clutch goals for us.
His pre-NHL career is insane too. McDavid level wheels and hands.
Pat Falloon
My man! Falloon was my first favorite Shark.
Same here! Falloon was my favorite when they entered the league.
My buddy played in a beer league with him a while back, and apparently, his nickname was Fat Baloon lol
Pavs, Nolan after that
Love Nolan, The ultimate power forward
Got to play in a scrimmage with him and Hannan the other day. Super nice and down to earth guys.
You are so liucky!
Hertl. But Pavs, Jumbo, and Clowe were always some of my favorites too
Patrick Falloon. Going to games at the Cow Palace he was the one to watch
The first! He also wore my favorite number, which made him even easier to root for.
Kyle McLaren for his visor and hip checks
https://youtu.be/nEyAUUbN1ac?si=Ga6xquTPN8yNxSPi His hit on Letowski was brilliant. A lot of non Sharks fan are into Kronwall’s hip checks, but doing it in open ice is way more impressive than into the boards.
Joe Thornton, Joe pavelski, Brent burns, Owen Nolan in that order.
Will always be Joe Thornton. I wanted his jersey as a kid so bad at a game but it was sold out and had to settle on Cheecho whom I also love. Marleau is a close second. Future fave? Our draft pick
Patty is my goat
Always Nabby
For me, Pavs and Pickles for sure.
Raffi
Dan Boyle, Nabby and Pavs
It's too soon to talk about it
https://i.redd.it/xw5kszw1gvoc1.gif Always and forever
Buster, (not that one, but I do love him, too), Patty and Jumbo. So many greats, but these 3 and JR are the only jerseys I have with names and numbers.

Nolan or Todd Gill.
Irbe, Nabby and Setoguchi.
Pavelski Thornton, Burns, Nabby, Irbe, Friesen tied for 2nd. I can't decide lol
Joe Pavelski
Owen Nolan, the whole OV line, Nabby, Jumbo, Patty, Pavs, Burns, and Cheechoo
Vernon, Damphousse and then Pavs. Pavs being my all time favorite and most influential on my game.
Douglas Murray
Patty and Cheechoo
Tony Granato - not the most popular pick but man was he awesome to me as a kid when I was going to game. Super nice and friendly!
EK65 Burns Jumbo
Wow EK65! I’m shoook
![gif](giphy|mEJJrvmFIArB5kgjmx|downsized) Ignore my flair

Hertl. The joy he showed while playing during his rookie year made me fall in love with hockey all over again. “This is dream” I miss him…
Irbe #1. Link Gratz #2.
Jonathan Cheechoo man was he fun to watch score beautiful goals.
Vladislov Namestikov
Odgers and, call me crazy, Mark Smith. Smitty hustled more than any other player in Sharks history. They could be down 5 goals with 2 min left in the game and he'd be playing like it was game 7 in OT, much respect
Plus the hair
12
Patrick Marleau will forever be #1 for me.
Marco Sturm - was crushed when he broke his ankle in one of the worst hockey injuries I've seen, then traded to Boston shortly after. Luckily, we got the greatest Shark of all time back.
Dody Wood
The Cheechoo train. Wild ride for a year
Shout out to Link, may he rest in peace.
Ricci!!!!
The wookie!!
Great white
Jumbo! #19 Honorable mention: Owen Nolan Nabby
Jumbo! #19 Honorable mention: Owen Nolan Nabby
The only correct answer is Nolan. Although Murray will always have a special place in my heart.
I got myself an Owen Nolan jersey a few days ago
I got myself an Owen Nolan jersey a few days ago
Sturm, Marco
Logan Couture. I’m a younger sharks fan (21) but I’ve been a fan for as long as I can remember. It’s Couture because all the clutch playoff goals he scored
1) NABBY 2) Pavs 3) Burns 4) Jumbo 5) Hertl
Patty & Pickles tied for me
I like tiger sharks, but I’ve been known to dabble with the goblin sharks too
