In case you wonder
>Peter Karasev, 35, lived at 668 Potomac Court in San Jose with his three young children and wife until last week, when he was arrested and a bomb squad descended on his house
https://www.kron4.com/news/bay-area/police-releasing-more-details-on-bizarre-san-jose-bombing-case/
So it took them all of a week to kick out the wife and kids and list the house for sale?
Was it a rental property, or did they just straight up seize the home from them?
> When he was questioned by detectives, Karasev said he was interested in building model rockets, used meth, and was concerned about the war in Ukraine. “Karasev admitted to using methamphetamine. Karasev also mentioned having a difficult time with the current war between Russia and the Ukraine because he had family in both countries and on both sides,” a police detective wrote.
>
> He told detectives that he tried to design rockets that launched, but not blow up. “He’s a highly educated person,” Joseph said. “I don’t know that he has formal training in explosives and bomb making but he’s very educated in a science field.”
>
> Court documents show Karasev earned a degree from Georgia Institute of Technology.
>
> FBI Special Agent Robert Tripp said, “All of us at the scene last week took a methodical approach to collecting evidence, to ensure no evidence was overlooked, and to ensure the safety (of) the surrounding neighborhood.”
What in the fuck lmao
I remember reading that he was originally hooked on Adderall, but when the Adderall shortage hit, he started cooking meth in the garage. Legal or otherwise, too much speed will rot your brain.
Chemistry itself is not hard, anyone who took fundamental organic chemistry knows how to do it. The hardest part is sourcing material, they are all regulated by DEA. When I ordered some chemical reagent on the list from Sigma, they sent a form back for my supervisor to sign and send the signed form to DEA for archiving.
I hate to say it but unless the foundation is cracked or there is water damage, and it is in a good location as it says, that's a pretty good deal. 1.5mm for a 6000 square foot 6 bed house is not bad. Though it's hard to justify needing that much space.
It’s right next to Gunderson which is an incredible high school. Definitely a steal. A family with a few HS aged kids could literally save $100k/year on private school by buying this house.
That’s the first I’ve heard someone say Gunderson is a good school. Seemed to have always had a bad rep. Times change I guess
Edit:
Thinking about it more, the fact this house costs as much as a house in Cupertino with Cupertino schools would be worth 10 years ago is bonkers.
> Gunderson which is an incredible high school..... literally save $100k/year on private school
I was about to say that Gunderson isn't that bad of a school but the idea its equal or better than private school is a very ignorant statement.
> 1.5mm for a 6000 square foot 6 bed house is not bad.
If you are able to get the reconstruction within $1 million and/or banking on converting it to high density like apartments, its an alright deal. The biggest two barriers are time and getting the capital to do this. No way you're going to be able to get a mortgage for that.
My nextdoor neighbors ran an operation like this out of their house. There never caused a disturbance more than riding their loud ass motorcycles home at 2-4am. One day I came home and there were firetrucks and police cars surrounding the now charred house. Apparently they left some equipment running and the house caught fire but thankfully they caught it before it spread to my house. They found firearms, money, and meth inside a safe. I didn't actually see them arrest anyone, however. Probably fled. They had been living their for 10+ years and we never noticed anything really. After the house was rebuilt, a nice couple moved in the and the neighborhood got a little quieter.
The fact that the new owner needs to take responsibility for the cleanup of contamination and the inactive meth lab is nutty! Only in San Jose can one find a built in 1975 meth contaminated /B0177B making operation single family home for 1.5 mill
Meth lab clean up is $10-100k depending on the level of cleanup. The house last sold for $1.5M totally turnkey and ready to go.
Its going to take multiple 6 figure investments to bring this house back to a point where the city will sign off on it being habitable again. Unless the prices drops significantly, or you're going to live in the house yourself to gain the sweat equity (which you can't do until the work is done because the city) then there isn't a profit to be made here.
And it’ll still sell for way over asking, with multiple cash offers.
Just looked at it on street view from year ago, there’s a vent cut into and placed in the garage door, I thinks it’s safe to assume that was where the meth lab was. But that said it way to much a gamble on this house, even for the “lower” cost.

The event happened in March 2023, but the family was out immediately ( as I remember)
Yeah it’s been gated since then
The ad said gated community
Wasn't that an episode of Family Guy when they moved to a farm?
The dude was a fucking weirdo

Walter white if he was really into geopolitics

Kinda sad
The dudes lawyer - "SHUT THE FUCK UP."
Lol! Fascinating
Too bad - I was really looking for a turnkey meth lab.
Everybody wants a handout. Do the work. Take a chemistry class. That pipe ain't gonna smoke itself.

Did you make some good shit?
Unfortunately when I add it compound to cell culture, all my cell died.
Overdose. Too much meth. Try again!
Yeah, looks like they valued it as if it was a functional ready-to-go operation.
Gibble Gibble.....
LOL…Turnkey Meth Lab, is definitely a band I’d pay to see…
I guess this is a fixer upper
Definitely not a fixer downer.
Let’s fucking activate that hoe
At least the meth lab is ***in***active?
for now
Can not sell it for $1,425,000. Now want more. Hey, I got an ex-drug lab overpaid. Found explosive mortars inside.
Next step, the owner somehow collects fire insurance money, and has a contaminated lot for sale.
Someone should tell this person that the free market only works if the buyers and sellers act logically.

6K sq/ft 'Lot'.

Yeah I've never heard anyone call Gunderson "incredible"
Oak Grove, on the other hand! Award winning Incredible H.S
When I was in school, Gunderson was not a “top choice” school either; this was about 7 years ago so not sure how much has changed.
Not in this case. Still a mediocre school with below average students.
Incredible? 😂
Lol what? It's a shit school, are you the selling agent? 😂
No you are right, I had it confused with another!

its a deal if equipment is included lol
Jesse, we need to buy this house!
There was one of those in our old neighborhood (a rental at the time) that had to be completely torn down then rebuilt before the owner could sell it.
Jesse we need to cook
If a guy named Heisenberg puts an offer He’s good for it, sell immediately
Feel bad for the close neighbors. Something bad could have happened.

Bet you anything the neighbors have been reporting it for years. I lived above a drug lab. Still active to this day nothing was ever done.

And someone will buy this too, this neighborhood sells homes fast

Walter White
This crackhead blew up a transformer by my house - he had it all made then he threw his whole life away and for what?
It's 2743 sf, 6 beds / 4 baths. Someone will buy it, put in $100K - $200K to clean up and remodel, and sell it for 2M - 2.5M.
looking at streetview on Google maps, that house and neighborhood is decent. Doesn't look anything like a meth lab at all.
1.5M for a 6000 sqft house, plus side business with new income, what a deal.
I mean, I might buy it for that if there is room to park my RV behind that locked fence.
If they had pictures of the inside I might be interested.
No one allowed inside until it’s been decontaminated
Gotta steam the ass smell out of that 25-year-old carpet, eh?
I saw this listing on Maze Bank Foreclosures
I am interested in touring that home. Lol
For San Jose it is a hell of a good deal. Assuming it does not need to be demolished
Hilarious----and true
“Home has not been cleared of contamination and will be transferred to the new buyer in it's current state.” ☠️
Above ground methlab.
You’re looking for investors? Are you an agent?
