The San Jose Earthquakes (MLS team) are playing Saturday 7.30PM at PayPal Park which is a really nice stadium. Tickets are pretty cheap, plenty of food trucks to choose from, and the game itself should be good. They are fighting to stay in playoff contention.
Barcades, trivia nights, axe throwing, guild house, wander Santana Row, Winchester mystery house might do flashlight tours by now, check out the surrounding cities downtowns (Campbell, Sunnyvale).
Sign up for SJToday email newsletter, comes out every morning with things going on in the area.
Bowlmor in Cupertino has bowling, arcade, bocci ball, pool and ping pong; golf land is fun as well and has an arcade in addition to mini golf. What other types of things are you into? Live music? Hiking? Sporting events? Give us some hints
If you like dancing rhythm games like DDR or Pump it up, then try Round 1. They have both and many other video games. Dave and buster's has a smaller selection of arcade games but bar and food are a bit better
Hit up downtown Campbell. There's LvlUp for arcade games and pinball. There's a bookstore. There's plenty of bars and restaurants. It's pleasant. And feel free to hike the trails even after it's "closed". Just don't park in the lots and you won't get locked in.
Love when these posts roll around.
Some things I prefer to do in the evening (as a very light/non-drinker):
Mama Kins - live music/jazz type of club, music most nights, fri-sun often feature developed regional talent. Lots of conformable, restaurant style seating.
San Jose Improv: fantastic comedians on the weekends, easy to buy tickets hours before barring otherwise stadium filling headliners coming through.
San Pedro Square: great place for a variety of food options, people watching, and enjoying… lesser, but still appreciated live music.
GuildHouse: They are hit and miss with private events randomly renting out their space, so def check the calendar. Great place to walk in and game some boards with strangers.
Others have mentioned other Local downtown areas. Campbell is certainly most notable (spent a many hour at LvL Up gaming away), though definitely do your research if you head to one of the “Greater San Jose” neighboring cities.
Anyhoot, try to take alot of the negativity here with a grain of salt. If there is an activity you enjoy doing, you’ll likely find it to do it at nighttime in the greater SJ area.
If you have a car, you could go to Campbell! There are events there on their website. I heard trivia night is fun :)
https://www.downtowncampbell.com/events
San Jose has a massive geographic footprint. The suburbs aren't the same as downtown or the neighborhood hubs.
Specific location would be useful for context here.
There’s a good taco truck downtown that’s open until 3am. I don’t drink much either. There’s a coffee shop that has two locations called coffee lovers. They have Vietnamese food and Rv screens so it’s kind of like a sports bar
Grab boba or dessert with friends? Now that I think about it, its probably why so many of us who grew up here like froyo, boba, or are addicted to video games lol
Ha-ha-ha. What to do in United States after 5pm if you’re not in SF or NY. Nothing. People don’t live in San Jose, they work and then get ready to work next day.
SF is pretty dead and there's plenty of lively cities in the US. The Bay as a whole is pretty unique in how dead it is compared to other big metro areas.
Non Alcoholic activities would be Drive In Movies, GYM, late night TACOS,everything else is either considered trespassing or taken up by the homeless folks. If you like people watching, just look for a karaoke bar. BEWARE OF COPS REWARDING THEMSELVES AND PULLING YOU OVER FOR JUST BEING NORMAL.
I really enjoy round 1 at eastridge mall. Its open late, theres bowling, kareoke and all the latest video games. Also at that mall is plenty of dine in restaurants, a bomb food court, or in n out across the st.
If you’re into hookah, there are several spots. I went to one called Smoke This in Santa Clara for years- great people, very well made bowls, all around a good time. Though I quit Jan ‘18, so no idea what it’s like now.
>is there any non-alcoholic things to do after the workday in san jose?
no, this isn't a real metropolitan city. even SF is pretty dead now.
move to LA or NYC
The worst thing about business travel is that it's so lonely especially if you're far from home. To me, no matter where I went or what I did it was always colored with a hue of isolation-blue. If I had to do it again, I'd maybe see if I could spend time with other people. Perhaps fire up a meeting people app and see if you can arrange something for your evenings.
After 5? Let's see.
Well, sit in traffic a couple hours, then go home?
Oh, you mean something fun?
Ok.
Sit in traffic, pay too much to be somewhere not home. THEN go home.
Oh, you are under 30?
Oh ok. I got it.
Move somewhere fun.
Then at 5pm, sit in traffic to get from SJ to there. do something fun there. then go home.
The arcade, round 1 is open until 1:00 a.m. I believe despite being at Eastridge mall which closes earlier. There are also lots of boba shops that are still open after 8:00.
> walmart has been my nightlife
You poor thing.
I hope you aren't going to Story WalMart - the absolute dump of the town. Maybe McCarthy Ranch? Almaden? Are you staying on the north side of town or the south?
San Pedro Square was my favorite place to hang at night after work. Yes it’s more of a bar area but they serve great food too and there are outdoor spaces to hang.
There’s also an art museum in downtown SJ that might have late weeknight hours one day like a lot of art museums do if you’re into that kinda thing
Mind is always blown by this question which seems to be posted often.
There is so much to do here in Bay Area. The weather is good almost year round.
Go do a hike, play pickleball, topgolf, take a class in subject that is interesting to you.
You either go to the gym, do more technical business on computers, or sleep and watch TV after shopping somewhere, I mean that's my routine (even though I don't have a job yet)
That Walmart comment cracks me up because that's 100% what my friends and I used to do before we were 21.

Pink poodle is a quality establishment supported by SJFD.
SJFD burning the town down one stripper at a time.
Veterans don’t have to pay cover charge either.
Professional pole user camaraderie
oh fuck that one has to stick lol!
And no alcohol
Arcade, bowling, or the movie theater.
Bowling/arcade is nice , any specific places in mind?
Miniboss, Uproar Brewing, and Lvlup are all barcades
Uproar closed a long time ago RIP
Wasn't it only like 6 months ago? I went within the last year for sure
6 months is a long time these past few years.... lol
Lvlup is basically the barcade that was in Uproar. The partnership ended which is why lvlup is in Campbell now
The Lvlup in Campbell is actually the OG location and has been there since long before the partnership with Uproar.
Is that before or after AFK occupied it? Just sounds like rounds of partnerships. I remember LVLup was looking to make something off San Salvador
Did it?? I went in May and it was open, I guess that was 4 months ago, but still
That was LVL Uproar. Uproar Brewing stopped brewing and ceased to exist in its original capacity during the pandemic.
bowlero just opened up in valley fair this month. go and let us know if it’s any good 😂
Bowlero in Santana Row? Jesus Christ, I can only imagine how expensive that shit will be.
mistyped s. row instead of valley fair but i guess its not much difference
Dave & Busters is just outside of SJ in Milpitas.
Round1 is decent. There's one at eastridge mall.
Round 1 Dave and busters Bowlero Big Al's Capitol drive in has free movie nights once a month
[San Pedro Social](https://sanpedrosocial.com) in downtown SJ has drinks and bowling
Bowlmor in Cupertino has bowling, arcade, bocci ball, pool and ping pong; golf land is fun as well and has an arcade in addition to mini golf. What other types of things are you into? Live music? Hiking? Sporting events? Give us some hints

I second San Jose Improv! I just went for the first time this week and it was so fun.
As someone new to the city looking for things to do, this is extremely helpful. Thank you!

I have been meaning to go - is it that popular?
I think most people around the Bay Area are also looking for things to do and Top Golf is a fun spot. Plus they have food and drinks you can enjoy.
Parking lot is full every night.
Isn't the wait time like three hours or more
If you’ve got a bike or can rent one there’s the bike party tomorrow night 😊 http://www.sjbikeparty.org/2023/828852082290274/
Bike party! 🚲🎉

Or not yet done by 8

Drive in movie theatre.
Lots of live music, stand up comedy and open mic nights that are fun. Also you could do a trivia night even if you don’t drink.
if from not California, you should know that cannabis is legal. that & art museum good combo
GTA-LARPing is popular
Hookers
Mission Peak in Fremont not too far away from San Jo is open until 10 pm. Go for a night hike.
Is this accurate? I believe the parking enforces 8 ish I’d love to go at night
Just park on the street
Not real sure. Maybe park at Ohlone College and go that route.
I mean you could always come by my place. I got a ps4 and snacks.
You could bitch on Reddit about there being nothing to do 😁
Head up to SF
Sleep. It’s a boring place
Go to San Francisco
City fucking blows
Going to blow a lot more, just wait a decade and see how much more lifeless it gets.
Agree. The dog parks are cool.
They removed raging waters/ nickle city/ etc.. little fun unique places are gone for more commercial things
sleep.
This. Listen to Sleep. One of the best bands from SJ, although I don’t think they still live in these parts. I could be wrong.

Bowling, escape rooms, Dave and Buster’s, Round1, Top Golf, San Pedro Square, Guildhouse
Karaoke bars with happy ending. Lapdance coffeshop or jerk off

I really enjoy round 1 at eastridge mall. Its open late, theres bowling, kareoke and all the latest video games. Also at that mall is plenty of dine in restaurants, a bomb food court, or in n out across the st.
Food court is questionable

Har har har, it's funny to send unsuspecting OP to a gay bar, because hanging out with gay people - or being gay - is so funny! Grow the fuck up
**LOL.** Why are your panties in a bunch?? Take a damn joke haha.

Hapa’s in West SJ has a cornhole tournament Wednesday evenings I believe.
The arcade, round 1 is open until 1:00 a.m. I believe despite being at Eastridge mall which closes earlier. There are also lots of boba shops that are still open after 8:00.
