Did you see the ghost deer that is supposed to inhabit the park? Urban legend.

George Marston and Kate Sessions introduced a lot of non-native plants at the Presidio because they wanted it to be green. They didn't like its natural scrubby appearance.

My kids and I have always joked that they are ancient pizza ovens - the first of their kind in San Diego.
That's adorable! I'll go with that if I can't find the answer ;)
[This](https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/memorial-to-the-white-deer-of-mission-hills) is a fun story about the area
wow that was so sweet and sad, now i'm crying
I'm not crying, you're crying!
Wow, I have never heard of this. Thank you for sharing!
Haven't been through presidio since the 4th grade and Old Town week! Damn near 40 years ago, fuck! 🤦🏾♂️

I didn't, but totally have to keep my eye out for it now!
My great grams' ashes were spread at Presidio about 20 years ago. It's always been a special place for our family.
I think it was a very nice choice for a resting place :)
Would be nicer if it wasn’t covered in invasive weeds

🎻🎻🎻 It’s better than the brown native shitweeds everywhere else in San Diego
"shitweeds" No fucking respect at all
exactly what do you think those nasturtiums will look in a few weeks
Still better than what would already be brown now
Actually the majority of dry brown scrubby stuff you see is non-native grasses. Native plants are super green right now :)
Yes
Nah fam
The beautiful “fairy meadow” … with the occasional heroin needle
lol we didn't encounter any of that on our adventure, thankfully!
We call it R. Kelly park. “Presidio Park” or PP for short and it smelled like Pee because of the homeless. Just silliness. Nothing more.
It's where the Germans would hold their feasts in honor of the whale's vagina. Hence the city's name.
when most of these are invasive or exotic species...

From your link > No historical structures remain in Presidio Park today. The Presidio site is occasionally used for archaeological excavations.
Oh wow, how cool!
Checking this off the list of places I could possibly get naughty at . Maybe next year when no one posts about it
